If you’re going to use a foreign word in your TV show, for the love of god research the pronunciation. Looking at you DC Titans 4x07. Gematria is pronounced with soft vowels, like geh-mah-tree-ah.

Did Claudia Cardinale and María Felix meet?
Tumblr media
Yes, they met in June 1961 taking pictures with the singer Lady Patachou at the "Nuit de la chancellerie" gala in France but the Felix - Cardinale relationship was not and did not reach a friendship.
Tumblr media
At the end of the following year director Henry Hathaway was looking for an older, experienced actress for his film "Circus World" for the role of "Lili Alfredo", the mother of Tony Alfredo (played by Claudia Cardinale), and here comes the problem. First they offered María Félix the role of "Lili Alfredo" playing the mother of "Tony" but the popular 'María Bonita' expressed herself saying: "I will not play the role of the mother of a novice actress" since she found out that Claudia would be the protagonist.
Tumblr media
To María Felix's petulant refusal; the director Henry Hathaway did not know who to offer and this was known to John Wayne (father of Claudia/Tony in the film as Matt Masters) to whom the director gave his trust so that he would not leave his 'daughter' Tony "orphaned" and Wayne contacted his dear friend the iconic Rita Hayworth and she kindly accepted without any differences with the new young protagonist Claudia Cardinale.
Tumblr media
Filming began in September 1963 and concluded in February 1964 in Madrid, Spain, premiering that same year, being a great success at the time!

"One day Rita came into my caravan and started crying, something that disconcerted me and she told me: 'I was beautiful too one day'. It hurt me a lot because for me she was a goddess"

I saw your appreciation post for Jews who change their names to make them pronounceable for goyim, and I was wondering if you have any advice for how to correctly pronounce Hebrew names for people who aren’t used to them?
sure no problem
I guess the first place I would start is the vowels. Hebrew doesn't have all the vowels that English has, and has some that English doesn't. The pronunciation varies by region, but a general Ashkenazi style follows:
Patach (common English transliteration: ah) (IPA: ä)
Kamatz (common English transliteration: uh or o) (IPA: ɔ)
Chirik (common English transliteration: ee) (IPA: i)
Segol (common English transliteration: eh) (IPA: ɛ)
Shva (common English transliteration: ih) (IPA: ɪ)
Tzere (common English transliteration: ey) (IPA: eɪ)
Shuruk (common English transliteration: oo) (IPA: u)
Cholam (common English transliteration: oh) (IPA: oʊ)
(there are more vowels but we don't need to get into them rn)
The other thing is that each vowel is pronounced individually (the only diphthongs are eye (IPA: aɪ) and ooy (IPA: uɪ), but the second is not used commonly in names). So Eliezer is eh-lee-eh-zehr, not eh-lie-zur. Occasionally names will have an apostrophe to separate vowels to make this easier, like Ya'akov (yah-ah-kohv) or Me'ira (meh-ee-rah).
Hebrew also has some consonants that can be hard for goyim, most notably tzaddi and khaf/khet. Tzaddi makes a ts sound like at the end of quartz, but will often come at the beginning of a name like Tzipporah (tzih-poh-rah, not tizz-pour-uh). Khet and khaf make the sound ch as in loch (they're technically two different sounds but I don't want to complicate things). Think of the sound you make when you have a hair stuck in your throat and you're close. I believe the proper way to write this sound in English is kh, but it's usually written ch in names. So Chaim is khah-yim, not chaym or haym, and Yechezkel is yeh-khez-kel, not ye-chez-kul. If you can't make the sound substituting it with an aspirate (the h sound) is okay.
And that should be enough for a basic run-down. I don't want to get too deep in the weeds and if you do want to actually learn Hebrew there are much better resources. But there ya go

I hate hebrew spelling so much, because they can't get their fucking vowels straight.
the vowels dots are kamatz/patach, tsereh/segol, hirik, holem, shuruk/kubutz
the /s are because some vowels have two dots that are the same vowel
ok so far so good, this is fine, no problems here, but
when writing in hebrew, you don't write the vowels, only the letters, EXCEPT
holem and shuruk (not kubutz) are both letters, and they are the same letter ו
also, hebrew has vowel letters which are א ה י ע, what vowel are these? whatever the dots (which aren't there) are!
ffctvliay anthiang ein hieabrv luoaks liaek ths (effectively anyhthing in hebrew looks like this)
all those other posts you see mocking this only ever mock a single aspect of it, but put together you have to memorize every single word (not in the english way)
