This is Thanatos, Narinder’s Witness and his right hand in his cult before getting imprisoned.
He is my OC and he exists in the world of my story “Death ‘s Promise".
I have published a one shot story on how Foreneus and Narinder met before his imprisonment, in this time Forneus got pregnant with Narinder’s children (she found out after she already left to go back to her life, Narinder will discover it only when Shamura brings to him the twins).
It’s not very long and it’s pretty quick, but I started to expand on it and I have a full story more detailed in my mind, I don’t know if it will be a full comic or a fanfiction for now.
Thanatos is a character invented for this story.
Thanatos lore:
He has been in the cult of Death for a very long time, not since the start of it but he took part to the Great War against the other (now dead) gods, as time went on he became Narinder Witness, becoming the second most important figure in the cult.
Narinder meets Forneus, Thanatos doesn’t care for her since it’s not uncommon for gods to have mortal companions (even if it’s rare for his Lord), he doesn’t notice when she left.
Then, only a few months after Forneus left, Narinder gets imprisoned because he managed to create a ritual to bring people back for the Beyond, a thing he has been working in secret on for centuries, since Shamura introduced him to the idea of change.
The other gods of the Old Faith make the Faith of Death taboo and every memeber of the cult has to covert to another Faith, oblivious this is not an option for the members of the higher circle, to faithfully to Death.
Many dies, but Thanatos manages to escape even if injured, leaving Death’s Domain and going far thanks to a teleportation stone.
He hides deep in the woods, unfortunately he is loosing to much blood and, since Narinder has been locked away, he has been quickly loosing his powers and this means he will not survive this injury if he doesn’t get help now.
Thanatos is not afraid to die, he welcomes the Beyond with joy but he is saved by Forneus, who heals him after finding him.
When Thanatos wakes up, he is surprised to see Forneus and he immediately feels that there is something divine coming off of her, something she didn’t have months ago, he doesn’t take long to realize that she is pregnant with Narinder’s child, Forneus already knows.
He tells her everything and he decides to accompany her, to help her and protect her as his sworn duty to his Lord.
Time will pass, the twins will be born and be named Aym and Baal, Thanatos will take care of them with love, developing feelings that go beyond what he feels is his duty.
Thanatos thinks that nobody knows who the father of the twins is, but in reality Shamura knows since they had (century before) various visions on their siblings, one of them was about their nephews.
They start to get followed by the God of War followers, Thanatos thinks is about his own presence, so as they run away from the cultists he separates from Forneus and the children.
Thanatos manages to bring with him the whole group, since they lost trace of the other three, they will try to get the information on where they are out of him but he will die in the process.
Unfortunately Thanatos death was useless, because Shamura themself was there and they found the mother with the children without any difficulty.
They will calmily speak with Forneus, explaining that Narinder is alone and that he needs to have his children to keep him company, she doesn’t want to get separated from them but she knows she cannot deny a god, so she lets them go praying to Narinder to keep her babies safe.
Centuries later Thanatos will be brought back to life by a new god of Death (under Narinder request after Forneus told him everything), a sheep who is know as the Holy Lamb, he will meet once again his old Lord now undressed of his powers and Crown, and he is assured that Forneus and the twins are fine, happy and together.
He will be gifted the possibility to live a second life, a more peaceful one, as long he wishes for.

COTL x SDV Crossover AU
I've been brewing something, and it's not Ancient Fruit Wine I promise. Inspired by Husky's Farmer AU I started working on a Crossover AU with Stardew Valley.
Prepare for some of my unfiltered notes and messy doodles.
Lamb - Charlie, he/they
Their family owns a livestock farm, which is owned by their parents. He and his siblings often help out around, taking care of the animals but he still has enough freedom and time to help other villagers and farmers such as Narinder. Livestock because that's kind of similar to taking care of the cultists, right? Right?? :'D
(this is basically like Marnie's Farm)
Charlie was found as an infant in the forest by his parents who brought him home to be raised like one of their own children. He is not aware of that, but he understands junimo language & can sense a certain aura from the deeper parts of the forest. He's also better at picking up the magical aura surrounding the magical creatures.
Bishops
Their god form is similar to their Eldritch form, whilst their disguise / mortal form is similar to their regular Bishop design. In their mortal form they still stand out though, considering they're usually taller than regular villagers and always surrounded by a mystic aura of sorts.
Narinder
Narinder moved to the valley recently. It's not clear if he did so on his own wish or if someone, or something made him. Either way he's here to start a new life, and despite not having any experience he still somewhat grows into this role. He's glad he can turn over a new leaf without the prejudice of his past life.
Lamb welcomes him the day he moves to the valley and quickly notices he has no idea what he is doing, and after watching him struggle for a bit he offers his help. Narinder, being too prideful to ask help on his own accord, accepts the neighbouring farmer's advice and help albeit a bit hesitant at first.
His original domain is the very bottom of Skull Cavern, but since he left for unknown reasons the residing monsters have run wild and rampant and the very cavern itself has twisted and distorted by the uncontrolled magic, making it run seemingly endlessly.
Twins
Baal is a full time adventurer in the Adventurer's Guild, he frequently goes on long trips down the dungeons to slay monsters, collect loot and bring home ores, minerals and weapons. Aym used to be an adventurer as well, but stepped down from a full time position after he injured his eye. He runs a flower shop attached to Forneus' General Store & sometimes helps out in the Guild selling goods.
Most other characters fill pretty expected or similar roles.
Forneus runs the local general store.
Rakshasa works at the Saloon.
Kudaii runs the blacksmith/weaponsmith. Clauneck is the fortune teller, perhaps also with a semi-permanent location in or near town.
Fisherman runs the fish shop.
Leshy
Leshy, a magical, possibly godly creature residing in the deep woods [based on the DeepWoods Mod that adds an infinite dungeon to the secret woods]. Sometimes he surfaces to the lighter parts of the forest. Not the only godly creature in the valley.
Heket
Heket resides in the Witch's Swamp. She stays mostly hidden and rarely shows herself to mortals, being more reclusive and drawn back. Few villagers are aware of the strange rune in the cave near the Railroads leading to her Swamp, and even if any dared to enter they'd be chased away quickly.
Kallamar
Kallamar resides in a deep ocean cave near shore. He frequently exits his domain to pass as mortal and help the villagers around town, usually dealing with illness and disease. He does not disclose his godly status though and villagers are under the assumption he's the doctor from the next village, coming into the valley ever so often to help patients.
Shamura
Shamura is the museum curator, at least that’s what it seems like. Them being the oldest they are very skilled at passing as a mortal with little to no flaw. Despite this they avoid the outdoors and don’t attend any holidays or town gatherings so as to not slip up in their disguise.
Their origin is unknown, but some suspect them to come from a faraway island.

Another thing that make me not like Narinder that much is how oversaturated he is ( this also does include lamb goat and the bishops to some degree too ) to the point the other characters ( ie the npcs ) just get pushed aside for angsty black kitty cat x lamb romance and sibling angst
Like the other npcs are interesting! There’s so much you can do with Sozo, Ratau, Fox, Chemach/Clauneck,Kudaai, Forneus hell even Midas! But it seems ppl rlly only care abt Narinder like 90% of the time bc I barely even see ppls lambs have relationships with the npcs outside of Ratau
I am begging- nay, pleading- for more expansion on the game's world, especially from fans! I feel like other games get more people theorizing and speculating and its all really really fun!
I'm not sure why i don't seem to see that more often with cotl but I don't think its the fault of the game and definitely not the NPC characters, who all seem to have real depth and make you feel as if they could carry on long conversations with you if they could.
Ratau is a great example of this, and I so wish Narinder was more like him in some ways. He's old and jaded and a bit creepy at times, but he has a warm, worldly demeanor and a canny edge. My favorite thing about him is that once you get to know him, you feel like he's testing you, judging you, and observing you from a careful distance. He never calls any of your actions as a cult leader into question but some of the things he says in regards to it feel like tests. Does he really believe in making followers into mindless servants? Because he seems like a nice enough guy who, if he and his friends are to be believed, walked away from all that apparent power and influence on his own. That doesn't really seem like the actions of a Machiavellian megalomaniac who would sincerely advise you to do whatever you please with your followers. Not to me, at least.
I could be wrong but he also seems to be losing Knucklebones to the player on purpose. This guy's been playing for years against a handful of sharkish friends and he's really learned so little in all that time that he's the lowest difficulty challenge amongst all of them? I doubt it. It seems more like the behavior of a friend who wants to get you interested in playing and has enough pride to not care about losing. Why should be offended to lose against the Lamb when they have so much in common? (Or maybe when that's a dangerous person to embarrass?) He seems like the type who would rather everyone just get along in his own strange way.
He's still mysterious and threatening and he may even have a darker past wherein he really did abuse and mistreat his cult, but there's a sense that he's grown past wanting that kind of influence. He's become calm and disciplined, too old or too wise or too tired for petty grabs at power. If he had to, he absolutely could teach someone not to misunderstand him, but he doesn't want to. That's fascinating to me.
This contrast is really missing from Narinder's character, something to offset his bad moods and desperation for control. For a guy whose whole thing was waiting, he sure seems impatient and immature? That wouldn't be a terrible thing but his dialogue and actions never seem to embrace that rash attitude or the conflict between his need to be patient and his burning desire to get what he wants now. He'd still be a fucking brat but at least he could be a smart brat? Someone who conserves their energy, enjoys lying in wait, and makes it a bit less damn obvious that he's going to betray us. He doesn't make a very shocking predator or villain because it's just so clear that he's not on the player's side. That made have made a good opportunity to make him into the type to play cat and mouse (no pun intended), to toy with his vessel and humiliate them into subservience, but he doesn't seem to have ever expected Lamb to ever betray him. That kind of arrogance could be interesting too but it's kinda feeble and unintelligent.
He's only ever just a brat- and an incompetent one at that. It's a funny characterization and I'd be more amused by it if it didn't wear so thin.
Boooring. Sorry for the long reply but... y'know what i mean??
