What is a Passive Fire Protection System?
Passive Fire Protection is critical in preventing the fire and smoke from spreading further. As a result, it reduces severity, protects people, and limits damage to buildings and their contents. The installation of a passive fire protection component serves two purposes.

Actually I’ve come to the conclusion that Cynthia would like Kingdom Hearts for the exact same reason she likes Graces f (the homoerotic tension,,,,,,)
#Also she’s just an action girlie in general! (sorry dism you have Inigo to enjoy turn-based games with instead 💔)#just pav things#She likes graces better though because it has multiplayer :) So she gets to ramble to Inigo as they both play!#In her mind this is basically forcing Minty to pay active attention to said homoerotic tension rather than passively watching 😎#But also she assumes that with Inigo’s demeanour he doesn’t want to be there :(#So also in her mind she is trapping Inigo into socialising more actively with her. Gaming is a cover for her desire to connect with him#After all it’s easy to say ‘heeey you promised you were gonna do a full playthrough with me >:(‘ and not ‘I really miss you’#Classic You Have No Name Poor CommunicationTM ✨✨✨✨#Inigo DOES want to be there wholeheartedly and sincerely derives enjoyment out of neurodivergent people monologuing about their interests#He loves his creachurs very much and that’s why he gets along so well with Dism and Cynthia! Inigo enjoys interesting people :)#Buuuuuuut he’s driven to suppress his feelings for Cynthia in particular because he’s trying to prevent having an attachment to her#Attachments lead him to get careless and hurt people :) Murder them even :) And then it hurts reeeaally bad :3#Of course this is where you can see the flaw in his logic#Why would he be trying to protect Cynthia from himself. If he didn’t already have an attachment to her in the first place <3#He doesn’t want Cynthy to ‘die’ bc he loves her. Inigo tries so hard to deny this fact in his head bc it defies his faulty belief system#he wants to keep indulging in the Lie born from his emotional Wound :3#In truth though feigning detachment makes him incredibly lonely and dissatisfied and ultimately hurts them both 💔#Cynthia doesn’t help in this either with her own ambitions to heal him hurt/comfort fanfic style for her own loneliness’s sake#So in conclusion fuck yeah codependent relationships ✨ truly a concoction of bottled up feelings#We love the drama hehehe. On some days I even prefer this over Dism and Archie’s mess just because of how natural and realistic it is#There’s no spiriters adding fuel to the fire and facilitating corruption this is just 100% flawed people doing flawed things!#…..Can you tell I was thinking of the moment where Cynthia and Inigo mend their relationship today 😭❤️

Catalyst
so in my au which i'm totally not using to cope or anything haha, after realizing that curly isn't going to do anything about jimmy, anya confides in swansea and he goes Protective Dad Mode. i'm calling this the "Responsibility AU." ramble below cut.
swansea doesn't immediately go after jimmy with an axe or anything because 1. they're not in a high stress life/death crash situation and 2. anya specifically requests that swansea not enact violence upon jimmy after swansea says, and i quote, "i'm gonna beat his ass." anya just wants to feel safer and more supported on the ship—she doesn't want swansea to get in trouble even if jimmy does deserve to get destroyed by 10000 punches.
what swansea can do is watch out for anya and make sure she's never alone in a room with jimmy. if there's a situation where she has to be alone with jimmy (like the psych evals), she and swansea have a system where she can signal for help. with anya's permission, swansea asks daisuke to help look out for her too (without telling him the details as to why since that's anya's right to share or not). daisuke has already picked up at this point that something is wrong based on how much more hostile swansea's become towards jimmy, and he trusts his boss, so he agrees without much question.
anya, feeling less alone now that she has people watching her back, gains more confidence to stand up to jimmy. which makes him angry because his unwanted advances are being denied and swansea and daisuke keep getting in his way. he just can't understand why he's being treated as the bad guy here (this is because he is a delusional asshole).
meanwhile curly is slowly realizing that he needs to actually do something here because the tension in the crew is palpable and increasing by the day. also swansea is being mighty passive aggressive to him and talking about "responsibility" a lot. curly keeps trying to talk to jimmy about it but the guy just keeps downplaying it and blaming everyone else but himself. and curly is realizing that his friend isn't who he thought he was.
it all comes to a head one day when an angry jimmy tries to confront anya alone and swansea steps in. things get heated, people start yelling. curly show up to see swansea and jimmy on the verge of fighting with anya and daisuke trying to hold them back respectively. curly breaks up the fight. jimmy storms off. curly follows him and finds him trying to get the gun from the case in the cockpit. curly asks him why he's doing this and jimmy claims it's for his own protection because he feels "threatened by swansea." he tells curly to give him the code. curly, the sheer wrongness of the whole situation hitting him, finally calls jimmy out on all his bs. jimmy just laughs in his face, still believing that he's not in the wrong and curly doesn't have the guts to do anything anyway. so the captain fires him on the spot. jimmy snaps and he and curly get into a fight in the cockpit. jimmy is trying to crash the ship and curly is trying to stop him. then the rest of the crew show up and anya knocks jimmy's ass out with the gun case. swansea is so proud.
they throw jimmy in the cryopod so they don't have to worry about him pulling anything else and he can be properly dealt with once the stupid delivery is over. everyone's like, "wow that was a close one—could you imagine how messed up it would be if we ended up in a crash because of jimmy? thank god that didn't happen." curly makes swansea the copilot until they can get a replacement and swansea's like, "goddammit as if i don't already do enough shit around here."
anyway my whole goal here was to get rid of jimmy early so i can have beautiful Found Family shenanigans in space with the rest of the crew. apologies and healing and happy times will happen. no the whole getting laid off thing doesn't happen. no i don't have an explanation for it. sorry for the essay.

Writing Notes: Fire Development
Tumblr media
Recognizing each stage allows you to describe with accuracy how a fire can quickly increase; later we will discuss fire characteristics, which will provide you with an opportunity to describe accurately the visual features of a fire scene.
THE 4 STAGES OF FIRE DEVELOPMENT
Incipient Stage
Also known as ignition.
This first stage begins when all 4 components have resulted in a fire starting.
Easiest to control and extinguish, and given the right circumstances, may possibly burn out on its own accord before it has a chance to reach the second stage.
Growth Stage
Shortest but most sudden of the 4 stages.
Combination of oxygen and any nearby combustible material will fuel the fire.
As it progresses, gases will rapidly increase in temperature, resulting in a build-up of pressure in the room.
Fully Developed Stage
When all the combustible materials have been consumed, the fire is at its peak and will be fully developed.
At this stage, the heat will be immense, and because the room will be engulfed in flames, there will be little hope of escape or survival.
Decay Stage
If the fire is left, then this final stage will be the longest, as the fire gradually finishes its consumption – think of a bonfire that is left to burn.
The heat still remains intense, and will do for some time, which is why firefighters remain so long at a fire scene even after the flames have been extinguished.
The fire may continue to smoulder and there is a risk of pyrolysis occurring, which may result in a secondary fire.
Source ⚜ More: Writing References
EDIT
Stage One: Ignition
When the 3 elements of the fire triangle (heat, fuel and oxygen) are involved in a balanced chemical chain reaction, a fire begins.
Can also be classed as the incipient stage if the reaction is unbalanced, leading to smouldering, low temperature fire with no visible flames. This type of fire still gives off toxic gases.
The fire easiest to control and extinguish, or as close to this stage as possible.
Stage Two: Growth
The fire begins to consume the available fuel in the area or compartment.
Heat rises rapidly, and in an indoor fire a smoke layer forms at the ceiling, descending as more fuel burns.
Where present, active fire protection systems such as sprinklers or smoke alarms will activate, and passive systems such as self closing fire doors will protect escape routes. An escape should be made in this stage, as the fire will reach lethal temperatures during the growth stage.
Once the fire reaches a hot enough temperature, a transitional event called Flashover occurs. Flashover is where the heat of the fire is enough that all fuel in the room reaches a combustible temperature more or less simultaneously, including the particles of fuel in the smoke layer.
Essentially, the room erupts into a fireball all at once and if you're still in the room when it does, you've caught fire too.
Tumblr media
Demonstration of a "Flashover" [video]
Stage 3: Fully Developed
Now all fuel elements are combusting, the fire is at its peak and is considered fully developed.
At this stage, the heat is lethal without specialist equipment to survive it.
Stage 4: Decay
This final stage will be the longest, as the fire gradually finishes its consumption – think of a bonfire that is left to burn.
The heat still remains intense, and will do for some time, which is why firefighters remain so long at a fire scene even after the flames have been extinguished.
The fire may continue to smoulder and there is a risk of pyrolysis occurring, which may result in a secondary fire.

Actually I WILL talk about Mai's seeming 'radicalisation'. With the upcoming comic, I can see why a lot of people are confused/caught offguard by Mai suddenly having a vested interest in reforming the Fire Nation's school curriculum.
Tumblr media
However, I don't think it's as much of a heelturn as one would believe at first glance.
Mai is a difficult character to pinpoint on some levels, particularly due to her upbringing which stripped her of a lot of her self expression. I think most of the fandom underestimates the trauma and effect of Mai's upbringing. I elaborate on it here.
However, the long and short of it is that Mai was not encouraged to question, criticise or, god forbid, rebel against her enviornment. To the point where her parents scared her with stories of spirits that would kidnap her if she misbehaved.
Tumblr media
Ukano's involvement in politics and relatively high status should also be taken into account. Mai would have grown up being strongly encouraged to conform to her father's beliefs and go along with his politics.
Mai : My mother said I had to keep out of trouble. We had my dad's political career to think about.
We've seen the propaganda and indoctrination of the Fire Nation school system, how it uses misinformation in its curriculum and how it punishes deviance.
Tumblr media
Most fire nation children won't have the tools to find the cruelty and danger in the philosophy of the Fire Nation. Zuko had to get banished from the country to even start his deconstruction. And he had Iroh at his side to guide him.
It's not shocking that Mai would not be able to see the flaws of the Fire Nation. Despite this, she still shows no attachment to the Nation's cause, either. In fact, she actively refused to take part in the war effort when she thought she could get away with it.
Tumblr media
I don't think Mai had much sympathy to the other nations, nor will I claim she secretly harboured anti imperialistic sentiment. I simply want to state the fact that Mai was, from a young age, forced to do things she didn't want to do and conditioned by multiple parties, to accept this. Mai has been trained to be passive, with only the method of passive aggressiveness and gloominess to defend herself.
I think after the fall of Ozai's rule and the slow restructuring of the Nation, Mai got more freedom in her life. Ukano's political role diminished, so Mai was allowed to think for herself. She gets to discover the world more and develop her own thoughts and ideals, rather than the ones she'd been forced to conform to.
This line in the upcoming comic seems to confirm my thoughts:
Tumblr media
Mai's upbringing is the underground and darkness. She was never given an alternative or agency in her life. And thanks to Zuko, she was able to see and experience a different world than the one she was brought up with. She is able to help to try and achieve it.
Initially, Mai is angry at Zuko's joining of team Avatar. She feels betrayed and upset that he did not talk to her in person, even if it was to protect her. And yet, she saves him. While I believe that most of her motivation was genuinely out of love for Zuko. But she also, ekther inadvertently or deliberately made the choice between Azula and Zuko. Between the two potential duture leaders of the Nation.
And she chose Zuko. Who is not only the boy she loves, but also the boy who can heal her nation.
Tumblr media
There is an argument to be made about how Mai represents the Fire Nation itself and its relationship to Zuko, but that is a topic for another day.
The theme of Mai caring for the future of the Fire Nation can be seen expanding in the comics. As 99% of the fandom will tell you, the comics have their flaws, but I do enjoy their handling of Mai for the most part.
I think it's interesting that we are shown that Mai not only wants Zuko to be Fire Lord, but for him to be a good Fire Lord.
We see her dissapointed in Zuko secretly meeting with Ozai. At first glance, what she says to Zuko is that she is dissapointed in him keeping secrets from her, which is understandable, since the last time he kept a secret from her led to him joining the opposite side of a war.
However, with her next appearance, we see that Mai may have had another concern relating to Zuko's communing with Ozai. When Ty Lee informs her of Zuko also enlisting Azula's help, Mai exclaims 'so he really is turning into his father', which seems to denote that Mai has a distaste for Ozai and his rule, whether that be from the begining, or recently acquired.
Tumblr media
Mai also criticises Zuko's callous and controlling restrictions over the frightened townspeople. This serves to further cement the idea of Mai becoming disillusioned with the similarly inclined authority figures of her past. Authority figures who were a symptom of the Fire Nation's utilitarian and imperialistic system. We see this disdain manifesting in its full force in the teasers for the upcoming comic.
Tumblr media
I think people tend to not realise how restricted in her self expression and thoughts Mai was, despite all the puzzle pieces being laid out for us in the show.
Mai has gone through a very quick and yet realistic episode of character growth in my opinion. Not unlike a lot of people raised in heavily Conservative and restrictive households who peel off later in life, she's settling into her own mindset and motivations.
Ans I don't think it's an unrealistic idea for Mai to want to help change the education system. The Fire Academy for girls is where she met Azula, and as an all girl school alumni, I can tell you first hand how toxic and confining these enviornments can be.
While Mai may not be seen as a particularly empathetic or kind person (though I think this interpretation is flawed), she can sympathise with the young girls who will be placed in the shoes of her younger self.
She can want to not see these kids go through what she, Ty Lee AND Azula did.
Tumblr media
[The panels of Mai glancing between the stifling interior of the school and the open window and choosing to go outside and lead the Nation's youth outside... ugh]
Not only is this a rather logical progression for Mai's character, in my opinion, but it also feels like a very big 'healing your inner child' moment for Mai. Since she was not really seemingly allowed to be a child, as most children in the Fire Nation appeared to have such restrictions placed on them.
I don't think it's much of a stretch of the imagination that Mai would want to have at least a small part in dismantling the system that harmed her and so many other children of the nation.
She is a young woman now, she has grown from the oversheltered, apathetic teen she was in the show. She has been able to make her own informed opinions about the state of the nation, has been able to hone her trauma into determination. And it seems we're going to see the fruits of this development in "Ashes of the Academy".
I have very high hopes for the upcoming comic, since what we've seen of it appears to make a compelling story, one I relate to deeply, as well as a good study of Mai, a character I find often misinterpreted by the fandom.

Revolution: Our Inevitable Path Forward.
We never sought this path, but oppressive forces have left us no choice. War after war — political, religious, ideological, and economic — each meticulously crafted to dismantle and divide us, each a feast for the insatiable greed that has corroded our society.
Liberation: Our Constitutional Birthright.
As Americans, the time has come to truly enact our Second Amendment rights, to use them for their original intent — they’ve wrought this violence, now is the time to brandish our resolve to protect our liberties against a system that no longer serves us. United, we rise; together, we swarm. We will no longer be passive. Together, we ignite the flames of change, indivisible against the tyranny that seeks to crush us.
Declaration: We Are The People.
We, The Taxed to Desperation.
We, The Silenced and Suppressed.
We, The Exhausted Many.
We, The Voices Drowned Out.
We, The Wounded from Endless Battles.
We, The Willfully Overlooked.
We, The Furious and Fearless.
We, The Perpetually Ready.
We, The United Swarm.
We, The Fierce Blaze.
We, The Indomitable Ants.
And This Is War!
We are more than digital foot soldiers— we are the architects of a new era, committed to tearing down this decayed structure to forge a system that truly embodies justice and equity.
We are The Fire Ants!
Join our ranks, contribute to the tide of change, or step aside.
The Revolution is here.

It's My Party (and I'll fry if I want to) for director’s cut.
(I think this was the second Louigan fic I read from your account back when I was a lurker, lol.)
Oooo okay forgive me for how wordy this is about to be, but I had a lot of notes about IMP that I ended up publishing in a little notes fic, but I've copied them over below! I can't believe this angsty mess was the second fic you read!! Usually I lure people in with a false sense of security with all my romcom fics 😭 ahhh thank you so much for asking!!
It's My Party (and I'll fry if I want to)
I think this fic is the one I put the most thought into. I didn't want it to come off like a spite fic or anything like that, I just genuinely wanted to tell a story where they're all the good guy and the bad guy and sometimes situations are complicated
So this piece was meant for people who have been told for so long that parts of themselves weren’t worthy of love and believed it, settling for relationships where their needs aren’t met. It's told in present tense to make things feel more in the moment. I didn't shy away from passive language, especially in Louise and Rudy scenes because they are passive participants in their own life, not willing to make active changes, then I tried to use active language with Logan scenes.
Characters:
Rudy
Flaws: Easy going guy with a bit of a pushover nature. He has a tendency to let Louise take care of him in a protective role (not necessarily a flaw, but could be if taken to the extreme).
Exacerbating event: Rudy’s gone back to school to get his masters in engineering. He couldn’t juggle a full time job and coursework, so he is currently unemployed.
How it happened: Being a child of divorce with medical needs, Rudy is used to people making decisions for him and developed a go with the flow attitude towards life. After his perceived failure at juggling too much at once, Rudy retreated further into his own passive behavior in order to avoid the feelings of inadequacy that come with being an adult. This presents itself as stress avoidance, refusal to make decisions, and being easily overwhelmed by small tasks.
When Louise starts a fire, he lets it burn until he can’t ignore it, leading to an explosion. It showcases a different set of value systems that should have been addressed sooner in their relationship but isn’t because of his lax behavior. In this story, just because he goes along with her doesn’t mean he supports her.
Logan
Flaws: Stubborn, escalates situations, egotistical
Exacerbating event: Logan never received closure from him and Louise’s fling.
How it happened: Catalyst shit-eater. Logan and Louise are like minded individuals, often expressing desire for the same thing but on opposing teams (continuing the biker fight, using military tactics for territory on a snowy hill, revenge on whoever wrongs them). Relying on a bit of cultural stereotyping of upper middle class cis white boys, Logan would struggle with expressing feelings of intimacy. In a fling where people don’t communicate clear desires or boundaries, it is possible to cross wires on what is sex and what is something more. In this, Logan would be confused about what he feels for Louise. It makes it even harder when he tries to have a conversation about their relationship and she cuts him out. He moves away having never fully understood what happened between them.
His stubbornness and lack of respect for those around him culminate in him trying to get back with Louise even while she’s in a relationship. Does he know if he actually wants to date her if he succeeds? The reader doesn’t know, but it also doesn’t matter. He is willing to manipulate the situation to his benefit, even honestly admitting to what he’s doing. He is what Louise is missing in her relationship: someone who understands her while still being fun and taking care of himself. Because his flaws are so apparent, breaking up with Rudy to date Logan is a dangerous option.
Louise
Flaws: Struggles communicating feelings though she feels deeply, avoids blame, and money driven
Exacerbating event: Working in a kitchen that isn’t with her family gives her weird hours and normalizes self destructive tendencies
How that works: Louise wants to be the one in charge that takes care of others, godfather style. Combining this with her struggle to express feelings of intimacy (think doesn’t want to admit she has a crush on BooBoo, not admitting she looks up to Bob), Louise isn’t adept at communicating her own needs in a relationship, as her control issues don’t want her to believe that she does need things from others.
Restaurant kitchens can often be breeding grounds for toxic behavior: a combination of high stress, poor sleep, substance abuse as a coping mechanism and aggressive management styles. Kitchens can attract people who don’t have the resources to seek help, which would have exposed Louise to “horror story” relationships to be avoided. None of these factors would be conducive to Louise working through needing more from Rudy, especially when he contradicts her expressing herself in other ways. He shuts her down when she says something violent, which may be for her own good in the long run but it’s not what she needs in the moment.
When she tries to express issues with Rudy, she misdirects and uses an easier topic for her to communicate: money. Financial stress is a huge factor in relationship issues. She brings it up because it’s her way of saying she’s putting more effort into the relationship than Rudy. Rudy sees this as her reminding him of his own inadequacies and shuts down.
Not getting reactions from him, she turns to Logan, who will give her a reaction, who will help her start the fire, and who gives her the attention she needs even if it’s from a selfish place. To her, at least he’s upfront about it. Louise doesn’t need to work with Logan or take care of him. It alleviates the stress of responsibility that’s been weighing her down.
While within the show her family is a support system, in this fic she feels alienated from them, specifically Tina who didn’t approve of her first relationship with Logan due to the very real risk of falling into unhealthy behaviors. Louise interprets this as her family believing her wants are inherently “wrong” and she internalizes the message that she is a bad person for wanting what’s wrong. Rudy unintentionally reinforces this messaging, and that’s why the climax of the fic involves Logan calling her “good” every time she vocalizes a desire.
Motifs and symbols:
Watching TV with someone
Louise is watching TV three separate times with Rudy. All three times, she has to make space for his wants; pausing so he can speak, turning off the volume so he’s not startled by loud noises, and turning it off completely after his digital detox retreat.
Louise watches TV once with Logan, and he’s an active participant.
When Louise tries to engage them in media: Rudy can’t follow her train of thought but Logan plays along
Tearing paper labels as a nervous habit
Open with Louise trying to take a label off without tearing it. It’s her desire to end things but not hurt anyone. She keeps ripping the paper, guaranteeing she will hurt someone.
Logan disregards the ripped paper. He pushes the balled up pieces of paper off the bar and to the floor. He does not care about the hurt they might cause others. He takes the label off her beer for her. He’s willing to hurt others for the end result.
Logan tells her the answer is patience. In Louise’s perspective, she can’t act rashly even though her instinct is to explode. If she takes her time explaining what’s going through her head, there’s less of a chance she’ll hurt someone.
In Logan’s perspective, his end goal (sleeping with Louise) also requires patience. He’s telling her he will be patient.
The last label, the wine, is unnoticed by Louise. She is past the point of caring if she hurts someone
Food
Food is effort
Louise’s life is dedicated to food and therefore effort. She works in a kitchen, where her effort is rarely rewarded and leaves her tired. She cooks soup for Rudy, and he doesn’t eat it
Logan made dinner for himself. It’s not great, but he tried. Louise makes it better. They put in effort for themselves but the other benefits
Rudy’s efforts are: To order food in (reliance on others), Cook boxed stroganoff (only contribute minimum), And to forget to turn on the oven (cannot finish a task)
Logan is seen ordering treats that are more expensive or require a trip, because he puts in effort for what he wants
The climax is revealed that Logan is improving his cooking. Not because Louise told him to, but he wanted to be better
Again, it comes from a place of ego, but it doesn’t matter. Rudy lacks the ego and the ability to put in effort. Louise seeks the opposite of Rudy, and Logan is the opposite in the extreme.
Orgasms
Allowing for pleasure. Rudy can’t bring it, Louise can’t find it, Logan won’t let it go
Flowers
Empty promises. They look nice but they don’t solve anything. Begonias are a bad omen (Try to move past this one like a throwaway line so flower symbolism isn’t so heavy handed)
Noisy neighbors
With Rudy, it’s a sign of external disruption and lack of peace With Louise and Logan, they ARE the noisy neighbors, causing the disruption and chaos
Louise is an unreliable narrator
She always calls the bartender a different Eli name. His real name is Erik, but she was too drunk to read properly
Louise cries but doesn’t realize it like when she’s driving away after Rudy doesn’t eat the soup. Rudy assumed the soup was something she was testing for work, not something for him to eat. She cries a second undisclosed time
Rudy knows she’s hiding something, but because she doesn’t think he can tell when she’s lying it never comes up. Undetermined if he knows she’s cheating on him
Louise never makes a note of the good things Rudy does. He does listen to her vent but sets boundaries for his own safety. When she gets aggressive, it scares him, but Louise considers it proof that she’s a bad person he can’t handle
Logan is intentional
Every time it’s revealed that Rudy is incapable of meeting one of Louise’s needs, Logan turns around and proves that he can meet that need. He is doing it purposefully to persuade her away from Rudy He dresses up whenever Louise comes over, purely to make himself more attractive. When he’s wearing white, he’s being manipulative
Biggest mistakes
-Louise refuses to communicate openly and cheats -Rudy struggles to be an active agent in his own life while discouraging Louise in hers. Most noticeably by refusing to fix the shower head and telling her to calm down -Logan refuses to soften his ego or make himself safer
Mood Music (for myself)
Love Again - Run the Jewels (for the sex scene) Judy’s Turn To Cry - Lesley Gore (a flavor of manic sadness) Scotty Doesn’t Know - I forget (for when Logan’s being cocky) Our Perfect Disease - The Wombats (when Rudy and Louise aren’t working) Lethal Combination - The Wombats (when Louise and Logan are working but they shouldn’t) Najwa - a real coworker but her name means secret
It is okay to try to gain experience in other kinds of writing and genres through practice. You are not a bad person for writing about something taboo.
