NOVEMBER 5TH, 2016. THE TIME IS 6.00AM.

If there’s anything anyone knows about Noh Hyungseo, it’s going to be that shit-eating smile. Today, he pairs it with gesturing arms and a laugh, too chipper for daybreak. 

“Beautiful morning, isn’t it?” He trods towards the boot of his car, parked so it faces initiates and chessmasters alike, each one bleary-eyed and huddled together in the cold of Baegaksan National Park. “No better time to ring in the hunting season.”

It’s typical of Hyungseo, how he never waits long enough for the bated breath. Two taps on the boot of his car and on cue, it pops open. Hidden beneath is the startling pile up of air rifles, ammo, and backpacks. The sight invites whispers to break out amongst the crowd, but Hyungseo steals the protest on everyone’s minds with a single sentence paired with a taunting brow, “Of course, if you’re too much of a coward, you can always resign.”

The silence invites the smile. “Thought so,” he mutters, loud enough for everyone to catch his self-satisfaction. “So here’s the deal: ten tracks, each leading to southeast of the mountain. We take a rifle each, and in three hours, we hunt everything in our sight. The greater the kill, the better the score.”

He leans into his boot, picks up a gun, and he’s almost careless, the way he juggles its weight in his hands. “Find your competition, pick a chessmaster, and get to it.”

He throws the gun towards the first initiate in front of him and chuckles at the way they catch it, how it betrays their apprehension. Hyungseo picks up another rifle from the boot, and he digs the stock into the ground. “First round starts at seven.”

If there’s anything anyone knows about Noh Hyungseo, it’s that he’ll make sure no one ever forgets him or that shit-eating smile.

the following is the timeline of events on NOVEMBER 5TH, the day of noh hyungseo’s designed ritual. these events have taken place in a former hunting ground located on the north gyeongsang end of baegaksan mountain. the ritual consists of two 3-hour hunts with a total of 10 active tracks per hunt, each approximately 3km in length. each group, consisting one chessmaster and two competing initiates, will take one track each.

6.00AM  all members arrive at the first meeting point, southwest of baegaksan mountain. the ritual is read. 6.30AM  preparation for the hunt. 7.00AM  the first hunt begins. all members split off into groups of three. the group allocations are as follows:

event details  this event is set on november 5th, 2016, the day of noh hyungseo’s ritual. where this ritual is concerned, you may explore anything leading up to this event, during, and their reactions after! context tip! the hunting grounds on which this ritual is held was once popular for hunts, but had been closed off back in 2015 due to various reports of wild animal attacks. for safety reasons, hunting on these grounds is now considered illegal and, if caught, can incur a hefty fine. additionally, noh hyungseo has obtained air rifles from unknown origins that all initiates and chessmasters are expected to carry. chessmasters are not expected to participate in the hunt, but given the dangers of the grounds, they have been armed to protect themselves. reviewing gun laws in south korea! according to south korean law, the youngest that an individual can apply for a gun license for hunting purposes is the international age of 20 years old. the application is a very long, expensive, and stringent process. additionally, guns must be kept at the police station at all times and may only be retrieved during the hunting season between the start of november to the end of february. due to the laws surrounding this, it is likely that the majority of muses would not have had a gun license — or even know how to shoot a gun! — prior to this ritual. this is with the exception of men who have served in the army, though note that the earliest that they may enlist for conscription is the international age of 18 years old. on average, the length of conscription is two years.

Traigo  lo  que  todos  estaban  esperando no,  mi  wishlist  de  plots.  Es  un  listado  LARGO  y  muy  detallado  de  ciertos  plots  y  faceclaims  que  deseo,  si  algo  les  interesa  o  llama  la  atención,  estoy  abierta  a  la  conversación  (un  99  %  son  bts  fc  y  otros ™,  también  tiene  lots  of  triggers,  pero  creo  que  los  etiqueté  todos  antes  de  explicar  el  plot.)

sang  deoksu  -  vampiro  -  fc:  min  yoongi  (bts)  -  biografía

yoongi  (bts)  &  namjoon  (bts):  yoongi  es  un  vampiro  y  namjoon  es  un  licántropo,  ambos  se  conocieron  cuando  estaban  en  su  etapa  adolescente  y  tuvieron  ciertos  sentimientos,  pero  cuestiones  del  destino  los  separó  y  namjoon,  pensó  que  deoksu  lo  había  abandonado. Ahora  se  vuelven  a  encontrar  en  medio  de  una  guerra  genocida  de  razas  fantásticas  cuando  deoksu,  vuelve  a  buscarlo  para  pedir  su  ayuda. (tengo  mucho  plot  detrás,  pero  si  le  interesa  a  alguien  le  pasó  mi  word  de  27  hojas(?))

yoongi  (bts)  &  jungkook  (bts):  Jungkook  es  un  licántropo  joven  que  fue  separado  de  su  familia  ya  sea  porque  cazadores  humanos  mataron  a  toda  su  manada  o  se  vio  envuelto  en  alguna  pelea.  El  plot  es  básicamente  que  Deoksu,  un  vampiro,  le  encuentra  herido  y  decide  curarlo,  cuidarlo  e  inclusive  criarlo  (si  es  que  Jk  era  muy  pequeñito  cuando  sucedió  la  masacre, lo  cual  es  mi  idea  principal).  A  pesar  de  la  rivalidad  constante  entre  las  dos  razas,  su  camaradería  crecerá  y  serán  como  familia,  incluso  podemos  meter  los  feelings  románticos  para  darle  drama.

sang  jaeseong  -  mafioso  -  fc:  kim  namjoon  (bts)  -  biografía

namjoon  (bts)  &  hoseok  (bts):  Relación  entre  un  mafioso  y  su  abogado  de  confianza,  conocido  como  el  “abogado  del  diablo”.  Alguien  que  sea  su  mano  negra  en  la  legalidad,  quien  suele  sacarle  de  apuros  cuando  la  policía  se  acerca  demasiado  a  él  o  su  familia.  Por  supuesto  es  como  su  mano  derecha,  un  Hoseok  listo  y  perspicaz  que  se  puede  sacar  cualquier  cosa  de  la  manga  para  salvarle  el  trasero  a  su  jefe.  They  sleep  together  (ofc)  y  se  conocen  desde  hace  bastante  tiempo.

namjoon  (bts)  &  jungkook  (bts):  [tw:  heavy  shit,  secuestro,  violencia,  manipulación  y  desarrollo  del  síndrome  de  estocolmo] jaeseong  (namjoon)  es  un  mafioso  que  no  suele  dudar  en  cobrarse  una  deuda,  y  es  lo  que  sucedería  con  la  familia  de  jungkook,  quienes  hicieron  negocios  con  la  mafia  y  ahora  no  puedes  retribuirles,  haciendo  que  jaeseong  tome  lo  que  más  les  importa,  su  hijo. this  is  pure  fucked  up  shit  and  what  about  it,  estoy  abierta  a  conversar  la  relación  por  el  peso  emocional  que  tiene.

min  taeim  -  chef  -  fc:  park  jimin  (bts)  -  biografía

Jimin  (bts)  &  Taehyung  (bts):  Ex  mejores  amigos  (que  provenían  de  familias  amigas)  y  ex  novios  que  ambas  relaciones  fueron  destruidas  por  el  desliz  del  otro.  Fueron  muchas  de  sus  primeras  veces,  también  eran  como  uña  y  carne  que  naturalmente  evolucionó  a  una  relación  de  pareja  que  no  terminó  bien  por  [inserte  aquí  infidelidad/peleas/falta  de  tiempo/constipados  emocionalmente].  Por  alguna  razón  nunca  lograron  enmendarla  pero  tampoco  darle  ningún  cierre.  Después  de  un  par  de  años  se  vuelven  a  topar  en  algún  lugar  donde  tienen  que  trabajar  juntos  o  bien,  compartir  tiempo  otra  vez  en  conjunto.

siyeon  (dreamcatcher)  &  sua  (dreamcatcher):  Yurim  asistió  a  una  escuela  de  puras  mujeres,  proveniente  de  una  familia  conservadora  n  stuff.  Este  plot  sería  su  primera  novia  que  iba  con  ella  a  esa  escuela,  viviendo  el  sueño  lesbico  de  cualquiera.  No  obstante  se  separaron  por  cuestiones  de  la  vida,  me  gustaría  que  ahora  vuelvan  a  verse  luego  de  años  y  tal  vez,  que  ese  romance  por  experimentación  se  vuelva  algo  más  fuerte.

bang  chaerin  -  modelo  de  revista  -  fc:  kim  jennie  (blackpink)  -  biografía

jennie  (blackpink)  &  jisoo  /  lisa  /  rosé  (blackpink):  [tw: infidelidad (no entre ellas)] chaerin  es  una  exitosa  modelo,  de  riquezas  inmensurables  gracias  a  su  apellido  y  el  nombre  familiar,  que  podría  tener  todo  lo  que  deseara  con  solo  chasquear  los  dedos  de  las  manos. No  obstante,  lo  único  que  desea  y  añora,  es  a  la  novia  y  prometida  de  su  hermano  mayor,  jisoo. Ambas  empiezan  una  relación  que  pasó  de  amistad  y  camaradería,  a  infidelidades  a  escondidas  de  su  hermano. Ambas  han  buscado  detenerse,  frenar  lo  que  nació,  hay  angst  entre  ellas,  en  sus  feelings  con  su  hermano  y  un  desenlace  que  luce  desalentador.

jennie  (blackpink)  &  lisa  /  jisoo  (blackpink):  una  relación  one  side  desde  el  lado  de  lisa,  quien  está  profundamente  enamorada  de  chaerin  pero  esta,  no  puede  olvidar  a  su  primer  amor  de  verdad  y  como  tiene  el  corazón  roto  luego  de  que  ella  se  casara  con  su  hermano. Mucho  angst  también,  puesto  que  duermen  juntas  sin  ataduras,  comparten  viajes  y  secretos,  mejores  amigas  pero  con  amor  romántico  envuelto,  porque  amo  a  mis  lesbianas  in  pain,  también  puede  desarrollarse  en  el  rol  diferente!

jennie  (blackpink)  &  yoongi  (bts):  [tw: murder (no entre ellos)] esto  es  un  au  dentro  del  au(?)  chaerin  se  compromete  con  un  hombre  de  mucho  dinero  y  que  le  trata  bien,  que  le  da  todo  lo  que  desea  y  la  trata  como  una  reina. Pero  ella  está  harta,  hastiada,  de  la  monotonía  de  su  relación  y  busca  de  nuevo,  esa  chispa  que  el  matrimonio  le  ha  arrancado. Por  ende,  contrata  a  un  hitman  (yoongi),  que  pueda  matar  a  su  esposo  de  la  manera  menos  incriminatoria  posible,  haciéndose  pasar  por  un  guardaespaldas  de  ella,  naciendo  una  relación  casi  meramente  sexual  donde  todos  los  sentidos  de  chaerin  vuelven  a  despertar  gracias  a  yoongi.

kang  youngsik  -  motociclista  /  jefe  de  una  pandilla  -  fc:  park  jimin  (bts)  -  biografía

jimin  (bts)  &  yoongi  (bts):  básicamente  la  relación  de  Agust  D  x  Kitty  Gang.  Youngsik  es  líder  de  gang  y  juega  carreras  clandestinas  de  motocicletas,  pero  no  le  importa  para  nada  meter  las  manos  en  el  lodo  y  hacer  caos.  Me  imagino  una  relación  de  rivales  de  “guerra"  que  en  más  de  una  ocasión  se  han  encontrado  y  terminan  liándose  en  más  de  un  sentido  (if  u  know  what  a  i  mean).  Quiero  con  ellos  el  tag  de  ao3  de  enemies  to  fuck  buddies,  una  dinámica  de  dos  personas  con  el  ego  grande  y  sin  miedo  a  nada.

ho  songil  -  hacker  -  fc:  min  yoongi  (bts)  -  biografía

(  brotp  )  yoongi  (bts)  &  yeji  (itzy):  Songil  es  un  hacker  dedicado  a  situaciones  delictivas,  que  con  su  gran  ingenio  llamó  la  atención  de  una  mafia  quienes  le  pagan  muchísimo  dinero,  el  cual  él  usa  para  poder  mantener  a  su  abuela  y  su  hermana  pequeña  con  un  problema  de  salud.  Me  gustaría  la  hermanita  pequeña,  con  quien  tiene  una  relación  muy  unida  y  Songil  haría  cualquier  cosa  por  ella.

hwa  ryuhan  -  empresario  -  fc:  min  yoongi  (bts)  -  biografía

yoongi  (bts)  &  seokjin  (bts):  [tw: infidelidad (no entre ellos)] Dos “mejores amigos” que han tenido acostones inclusive antes de que Ryuhan se haya casado, pero no se han detenido ni siquiera con este pequeño impedimento. Es una relación de confianza y Ryuhan solo habla con él sobre cosas que siente, no obstante, no han hablado de sentimientos y es un elefante que siempre mantienen en la relación y empujan lejos cuando duermen juntos. Alto angst y lleno de cosas terribles porque soy nasty.

jeon  yunseo  -  artista  escénico  /  coreógrafo  -  fc:  kim  taehyung  (bts)  -  biografía

taehyung  (bts)  &  jungkook  (bts):  mejores  amigos  desde  la  infancia,  jungkook  es  hermano  de  seokjin  (ver  el  segundo  plot)  y  prácticamente  los  tres  crecieron  juntos,  no  obstante  el  one-side  aquí  se  da  de  jungkook  a  yunseo  (quien  está  enamorado  del  seokjin)  y  pues  sería  su  camino  a  fall  in  love  con  respecto  al  tiempo.  Me  gustaría  que  jungkook  fuese  contrario  a  yunseo,  tal  vez  un  deportista,  pero  los  dos  se  apoyan  en  sus  rubros  de  trabajo  y  están  siempre  al  pendiente  del  otro. 

taehyung  (bts)  &  seokjin  (bts):  una  relación  que  nació  desde  la  infancia,  seokjin  al  ser  un  par  de  años  mayor  a  yunseo  era  el  hyung  predilecto,  a  aquel  a  quien  recurría  cuando  tenía  alguna  duda  o  simplemente  necesitaba  hablar  con  alguien. yunseo  se  enamora  de  él  conforme  el  tiempo  pasa,  y  por  alguna  idea  loca  suya,  cree  que  es  reciproco. la  idea  está  planteada  como  un  one-side o btp,  pero  se  puede  hablar  del  plot  e  imaginar  el  futuro  <3

taehyung  (bts)  &  namjoon  /  jimin  (bts):  ambos  involucrados  en  el  mundo  del  teatro  o  el  baile,  me  gustaría  que  se  hayan  conocido  en  nueva  york  y  hubiesen  tenido  una  de  esas  relaciones  típicas  de  dos  artistas  con  un  alma  muy  libre,  que  a  veces  no  logran  ponerle  una  etiqueta  a  lo  que  son. maybe  ex  novios  que  no  fueron  novios  y  se  vuelven  a  ver,  estoy  abierta  a  la  conversación  del  plot

jeon  donghae  -  ex  idol  /  compositor  y  productor  -  fc:  min  yoongi  (bts)  -  biografía

yoongi  (bts)  &  jimin  (bts):  una  pareja  que  se  enamoró  con  solo  14  años  de  edad,  jimin  siendo  una  constante  en  todos  los  pasos  que  donghae  hizo  para  poderse  convertir  en  un  idol  famoso,  en  todos  los  momentos  de  tristeza  y  desolación,  de  desespero  y  felicidad  con  poco  dinero  en  sus  bolsillos  y  muchos  sueños  e  ilusiones. La  fama  terminó  desmoronando  su  relación,  cuando  donghae  presa  de  las  drogas  y  la  presión  social,  agredió  físicamente  a  jimin. desde  entonces  él  desapareció  de  su  vida,  ninguno  de  los  dos  se  ha  vuelto  a  ver  desde  esa  noche. este  personaje  es  sumamente  importante  para  entender  la  personalidad  de  donghae  y  me  encantaría  poder  llevar  la  relación  del  pasado  y  también,  del  reencuentro. Creo  que  tiene  mucho  potencial  y  prefiero  hablarlo  por  interno  <3  porque  me  tiraré  27  hojas  de  word(?)

shin  ryeohee  -  policía  encubierto  /  mafioso  -  fc:  kim  taehyung  -  bibliografía

taehyung  (bts)  &  jimin  (bts):  durante  su  tiempo  como  policía  encubierto  y  fingiendo  pertenecer  a  la  mafia,  ryeohee  se  encargó  de  suministrar  drogas  a  las  personas  dedicadas  a  la  prostitución  y  a  los  clubs  nocturnos,  cuidando  también  de  ellos. ryeohee  nunca  ha  demostrado  interés  en  ningún  tipo  de  persona,  no  hasta  que  uno  de  los  strippers  del  club,  captura  su  atención  completamente. sería  de  sus  primeras  experiencias  homosexuales,  mucho  drama  por  sus  vidas  peligrosas,  siempre  con  la  puerta  abierta  a  atrapar  sentimientos  que  no  deberían.

Tapping away at the screen, you opened the text chain between you and Soyeon before clicking the camera icon. Leaning over the edge eagerly, you zoomed in, snapping a picture and sending it to yourself. A rough grip on your collar pulled you back, keeping you from toppling over the edge in your excitement.

“Idiot,” Soyeon muttered, snatching her phone from your grasp, gazing at it intently. Swinging your legs over the ledge, you planted your feet on the roof, wandering towards the opposite edge of the building. “Hey Y/n?” Soyeon called after you, hands stuffed into her pockets as she followed after you. “Yeah?” You hummed, glancing up at the tree that towered above the roof. “How did you know my password?” She questioned, brows raised inquisitively. “Lucky guess,” you excused with a shrug, carelessly climbing onto the ledge. “Until next time, Jeon Soyeon,” you saluted with a dopey smile, stepping backwards to gracefully fall over the edge.

Sempre estamos abertas a feedback e saber o que agrada vocês ou não é de EXTREMA importância pra nós sabermos o que precisamos melhorar, o que podemos repetir ou o que devemos deixar de lado. Então, dessa vez, diferente do formulário que já temos de feedback da comunidade em um geral, resolvemos montar um específico pra esse tipo de evento, que decidimos por como OBRIGATÓRIO a resposta para todos os >players<.

Porque nós sabemos que há sim, players que não dão a opinião por timidez ou algo do gênero, mas queremos que vocês compreendam a importância que é fazer isso. Nós PRECISAMOS saber a opinião de todos pra podermos coletar uma média e conseguirmos decidir como serão os futuros eventos da comunidade de modo que agrade a maioria e possamos, também, tentar adaptar algo pra chegar no gosto dos demais e, assim, todo mundo conseguir ficar satisfeito.

her home is no longer a cramped half-basement on the outskirts of town but in a quaint little apartment nestled deep in the veins of seoul. it’s the epitome of concrete jungle — harsher, sleeker, and so much colder.

school is no better. it’s hardly anything more than a circus with everyone vying for center stage. it’s hard to lie low when echoes of home crackles through in the curling drawl of an accent; syllables far more blunt and razor edged than the soft-rounded cadence that’s the norm.

the hallways in school are no better than the streets back home. the only difference is: it echoes louder; the ripple effects far more volatile. people care more but also care less, she realizes. anonymity means nothing when her peers can draw her face with smiling mouths and cruel hands.

loose lips are a given and word of mouth is just as deadly.

school is a petri dish, after all — teens and their raging hormones; puberty at its finest.

so she keeps to herself, minds her own business, and if there’s hardly an open seat available to her at the cafeteria table, she makes herself at home in an empty classroom. she drifts day to day, living on the edge of frenzied conversations — a wraith; an unwanted, wretched thing.

there’s a pack of smokes she stole from youngjae earlier in the day sitting on the ledge beside her. earbuds in and the world open beneath her feet. she thinks it looks beautiful; this vantage point and feeling so high up.

she sings, lets the wind carry her heart away from her. she sings and wishes and wants.

a voice intrudes and pulls her roughly back to reality.

“you shouldn’t smoke.”

“says the smoker.”

nimble fingers yank the half-lit cigarette from his mouth. she knows better than to smoke it though. instead, she leaves it dangling between her lips, cupping the end of it in her hands as if she were about to catch the ashes flying away.

“you ever thought about auditioning?”

she shrugs dismissively, not looking at him.

“singing makes you happy.”

the cigarette drops from her fingers and a scuffed shoe comes down hard, crushing it into the ground.

her eyes close. breathe in, breathe out.

“it feels like home, doesn’t it?”

she doesn’t say anything.

(it hasn’t felt like home in a long time.)

for fourteen years, she’s managed to avoid it but trouble comes knocking at her sister’s graduation ceremony. it comes disguised as a well-to-do lady in a tailored suit and a voice so velvety smooth, yerin can’t help but sigh at what seems to be a scripted casting that sounds too good to be true.

her mother snatches the business card and rejects the woman on her behalf. it’s not until they’re outside that she notices her mother’s hands are shaking.

she’s heard stories, wisps of rumors that have haunted her at every turn, every age, back when she was too young to understand that eavesdropping was rude.

she knows her mother has lived it, has run from it — a gilded world that promised too much in exchange for her youth. and yet, yerin can see the longing her mother tries so hard to bury. she has caught her far too many times looking at yellowing photocards, fingers caressing a vinyl still wrapped in its fading cover to believe her mother’s forgotten it all.

“do you miss it?” yerin asks softly, fingers grasping her work-weathered hands like a lifeline.

“yes.” very much.

there’s so much heartache nestled in that bitter admittance, so much her own heart cleaves in two hearing it.

“okay.” i know.

she holds her mother while she cries, vowing to finish what she started all those years ago.

she’s no social butterfly. far be it for her to bend her back trying to kiss ass and make friends when she can use that time holed up in a studio, making the most of every hour she’s booked to sing.

she’s content, she tells herself, to be shunned by people who are eager to turn her into a scapegoat — the punchline to every joke. girls are cattiest when pitted against one another, after all.

BC ENTERTAINMENT’S SURVIVAL SHOW “CANDY SHOP” TO FEATURE 13 TRAINEES

BC Entertainment has announced the creation of a new girl group through a new survival show, “Candy Shop.” The show will feature 13 trainees, split into two groups based on readiness of debut: “Sweet” and “Sour.” All 13 trainees will have the opportunity to secure a chance to debut in BC Entertainment’s first girl group since Lily’s debut in 2010.

when the show begins airing, they tell her she’s different.

“you don’t see it?”

she doesn’t have time to worry about anything else by going on the grind, working herself into a mess of aching muscles, until her voice cracks and fades. candy shop is a ticket to a second chance and she knows very well she might not get another one if she doesn’t grab it with both hands.

“this show…it’s eating you. you’re not happy.”

they’re right.

she can’t afford to be. not when all her energy is spent on being good enough—better—than everyone else. being a part of “sweet” feels like she’s got the world pressing down her shoulders. everyone’s expectations rise twofold; their eyes sharper, their mouths unforgiving.

every episode aired is like another knife to the chest. her ranking fluctuates; turbulent like her emotions. the pressure is finally getting to her and she botches two of her performances. the criticism washes over her — she should be immune to all this: rumors, gossip, pettiness.

in front of the world, she hits rock bottom.

still, she refuses to cry. what else can she do but endure?

lesson #1: she’s not as popular as some of her members.

that rank 6 will haunt her until she retires, she’s well aware. with it comes the lingering resentment from diehard fans of all the trainees who failed to make it. failed — because she stole their spot. failed — because she lacks stage presence and while pretty, her visuals must’ve been the result of money. failed — because she’s still that girl who chooses to step back when given the opportunity to shine, insecure and afraid to risk it all.

it doesn’t help that she’s quieter, noticeably more reserved in both speech and mannerisms.

she’s not bold or sassy. sweet or cute. rather, she’s almost unassuming when she’s surrounded by the rest of candy.

the rumored ice princess. cold and intimidating.

lesson #2: this is not a democracy. she’s just one person. weak and marginally insignificant.

as a main vocalist, she’s already given many lines in every song. it’s not her fault, but fans could care less. as the leader, she should give her lines to other members, they say. she shouldn’t be greedy, it’s not fair, they say.

“i don’t need to sing the chorus twice, maybe this line can suit…”

“it’s fine. you can sing it. you can handle it, right?”

“it’s decided.”

she sighs.

lesson #3: in the end, she’s just a pawn. another investment the big wigs deemed worthy of a gamble.

the trick of the trade is to gather ammunition. in a company as big as bc entertainment, yerin is well aware that she is expendable. candy has a shelf life. there’s never any guarantee that she will retire with a legacy that stays for generations.

being patient is a survival skill and she has it in spades.

in due time, her obedience is rewarded. her value as a member of candy increases slowly but steadily. discussions with company executives bear fruit in the form of a gamble — yerin, how do you feel about acting?

she doesn’t even hesitate. she closes her eyes and lets them decide for her.

it’s a decision that shoots her to the top of the world. jo yiseo becomes her saving grace.

was it luck? was it talent? murmurs ripple through the grapevine. she must’ve just got lucky with the role. did she even audition? bc ent. sure is the king of backing.

rumors continue to follow her, even as she auditions over and over again. through countless meetings and table read-throughs and multiple rejections. itaewon class's success turns a blessing into a curse.

sweet home goes global and the spotlight glare only brightens. the heat of it scorching, burning. park yoori is more understated than jo yiseo’s vibrance and larger-than-life presence. it suits her — yoori’s quiet tenacity, her stubborn but kindhearted nature. yoori settles like a second skin where yiseo felt like a mask she still struggles to remove.

yerin lies low after.

they call it burnout. she calls it paranoia, a lingering fear that ate her alive.

script after script is offered her way; all of which are declined with an excuse that she wanted to focus on group activities, that she was waiting for the right timing and the right role.

yerin is known as a perfectionist and consummate professional, in that she is rarely seen flustered by onstage or offstage mishaps. she’s steadfast and responsible, with an innate tendency to attract attention for her graceful mannerisms and articulate speech. yerin is often the mouthpiece as the one taking the lead during interviews and onstage speeches. her reserved personality has caused many to think her detached and cold, earning her the nickname, “ice princess.” though sounding affectionate, anti-fans have used the moniker to spread rumors about her supposed arrogance and poor reputation both as a student and as a trainee. in addition, her less vibrant stage presence in comparison to her members has caused some to call her “blank face” and lament on the mismatch in her abilities: a pretty and talented vocalist, but an underrated performer.

outside of candy, she’s more known as a talented idol actress. yerin isn’t known for being particularly ambitious with her individual schedules, but she has slowly been gaining attention, especially with her roles in hit dramas, such as itaewon class, sweet home and twenty-five, twenty-one.

bc entertainment’s bold push to establish yerin as an actress has divided fandom. it’s hard to avoid the stigma of idol actors polluting the big and small screens, but yerin has managed to cement her place as someone to keep an eye on. her performance as jo yiseo landed her on the radar of industry professionals and won the hearts of viewers, marking yerin as an up-and-coming actress. her role as park yoori in sweet home and as ko yurim in twenty-five, twenty-one have garnered praised for her ability to thoroughly portray flawed underdog characters viewers want to root for. her popularity has definitely experienced a steady rise in recent years.

public reception is always mixed when it comes to comments about her on forums and articles, with her loudest critics being those who like to harp on her manufactured visuals, her supposed bad reputation as a student, criticizing her for not being up to par with the rest of candy, how candy shop was probably rigged and that she should not have debuted or that she’s undeserving of her position. negativity like this follows yerin no matter the accomplishments she has amassed.

while she might not have the expected girl-next-door charm and cute-lovely energy, yerin makes up for it in the occasional shy, startled smiles when she spots her fansite masters and her gentle warmth during one-on-one interactions and fan meetings. given the chance, yerin is capable of surprising even her most loyal of fans with spurts of energy and dynamic reactions. she’s just very subtle about it. with candy’s beginning to evolve into a more mature image, yerin will likely begin to feel more at ease with future concepts and discography.

FUTURE

yerin is an ambitious person, even if she seems magnanimous. she has played the role of the yes-woman so well, it’s expected by the company that she would always be rule-abiding and passive. not one to enjoy or incite conflict, her obedience is a strategy she uses to ensure she stays in the company’s good graces. she knows well enough the rumors that continue to follow her from predebut to present has some impact on her image, especially when she was competing on candy shop and later as a member of candy. she can’t afford to be anything less than perfect to avoid fanning any flames that could potentially burn her in the future.

thus far, her growing popularity has allowed her be met with some leniency and freedom to express herself openly during discussions about her individual schedules. acting has become an avenue in which she hopes to establish herself more prominently in and she’s grown to love immersing herself in scripts and characters. she enjoys the challenge and while her insecurity plays a huge role in how dramas and her characters are perceived, her desire to exceed expectations is just as strong. she will work to expose the public to a different side of her every time she appears on screen and hope to endear them to her through her characters. one day, she hopes to be acknowledged as a talented vocalist and a versatile actress.

in the near future, i’d like to also shift her focus between promoting with candy and her acting projects to fashion & modeling. not sure if i’ll have her specialize primarily in brand commercials or appearing in magazine pictorials.

in the distant future, when her value and fandom is big enough to warrant discussions about a solo debut, i might have yerin dip her toes in writing lyrics for her own song(s). not sure if they’ll be digital releases as she’d likely have an aversion/fear of performing on stage alone or if she’d eventually overcome her insecurity and garner enough self-confidence to promoting a single/mini-album. who knows?
