Here I am, your least favorite gremlin out of her garbage can, with another gremlin idea for Menaces AU .

The Butterfly™ is actually stupid enough to step into Paris, AKA Hawkmoth's territory, and not only that, but to prove that he can do whatever he wants in moth's turf and nobody could stop him, he tries to steal Ladybug and Chat Noir's miraculouses, and even—takes an interst on Nathalie. This motherfucker actually went into HK's turf, fought his enemies, and by pure stupid coincidence, ended up interested in his assistant. The perfect concoction of disrespect to piss Hawkmoth off.

Everyone would expect him to react bringing an akuma like "Reflekta", "Multiplier" or "Miss Squirrel" (that definitely is not a ripoff of Mr. Pidgeon), overall, expected him to bring an akuma that Butterfly could defeat.

Nobody expects Hawkmoth to bring in Cthulhu.

Does least favourite implies that I have multiple gremlins on stand by?

Hawkmoth: "Send in Cthulhu."

Adrien: "…Like, a Cthulhu-based akuma?"

Hawkmoth: "No, no, Cthulhu. He owes me a favour."

Adrien: "For what?"

Hawkmoth: "Don't think about it. Here's his phone number, just don't look at it too long, the numbers are cursed knowledge or something."

Adrien: "This number is our HR department."

Hawkmoth: "He's the head of the department. Does good work."

Hawkmoth: “Here’s his calendar. Pick a day when the planets aren’t aligned, or else he gets cranky.”

Adrien: "We had Cthulhu in our back pocket this whole time and we never sicked him on Ladybug?"

Hawkmoth: "Ladybug isn't harassing my assistant with dirty messages."

Adrien: "He sent her a poem."

Hawkmoth: "A filthy, perverse poem."

Adrien: "He just says that her eyes 'reflect the boundless cosmos'."

Hawkmoth: “Reflects the boundless cosmos? Reflects the boundless cosmos? Are you hearing this, Adrien? This slimy… insectoid casanova thinks he can just waltz in here, spill a few poorly-disguised innuendos, and charm my assistant?"

Adrien: “I… Don’t think it was an innuendo, Father. He just… Mentioned her eyes?”

Hawkmoth: “Oh, sure, sure! Just innocently musing on her ‘infinite, alluring gaze,’ hm? And what’s next? Calling her his ‘celestial muse’? Describing her beauty as ‘indescribable, yet timeless’? This whole thing has one intention, Adrien, and it’s the kind of intention you don’t put in a Hallmark card! It's all code for unspeakable desires, and poor Nathalie has to suffer through it all."

Adrien: "So… Cthulhu?"

Hawkmoth: "Some disrespect requires a beating, some require eldritch intervention."

Nathalie is, of course, sitting off the side with a glass of wine basking in Gabriel's jealousy.

I got to thinking about that "Hawk Moth does the Villain with Good Publicity" angle idea and I love it but it needs some tweaks to work I think.

1: He needs to know there is a Guardian and suspect they are in Paris, rather than rely on the "Chaos will reveal the Black Cat & Ladybug" angle, he's specifically trying to get at another human & coax them out.

2: He needs to collab with the media, mayor and more, so he's likely out in public as himself at first and does a lot more public perception handling than Ladybug or Chat ever did to help maintain his public profile.

Plan:

With that in mind he likely stages and or orchestrates several accidents and criminal situations. Some of which definitely target Chloe cos why break the habit of a life time. & he uses these to establish himself as the Heroic Hawk Moth!

Adrien being at school is so helpful for this.

Fu is suspicious cos he can sense rancid vibes but the guy hasn't done anything wrong yet or even seems to know about Akuma. He ends up tracking him down when transformed to talk & hinges turn ugly when HK reveals' he wants the LB & BC.

Hawk Moth uses a civilian, again maybe Chloe, to goad Fu into attacking him, they have a fight and Fu saves the civilian and gets away but is pursued by Nathalie, turns out Gabriel was just hiding his Akuma. Still, Fu gets away, but they know his general area.

HK claims to have been ambushed and severely wounded by a 'thief;. He claims himself to be the Guardian of the Miraculous & that while injured he can now create champions. The mayor is all "We must do all we can to help our beloved hero Hawk Moth!"

So, Paris is looking all over for a short older man who might have the Miraculous. Police are poking around all over, Hawk Moth's champions are on the move & Fu realizes he needs allies.

Story thoughts:

The thing here is that this totally changes the dynamic and type of story being told. The powers that would be useful to hand out, even how many people Fu would want active given he's specifically being hunted. Let alone how public perception and such would effect things and more to the point the heroes strategies and motives and methods!

Hell, Fu may well end up looking for entirely different personalities and people for this task. Or find himself pulling from whoever is left over from conspiracy theorists to the universally contrarian, to people who were caught up in Hawk Moth's staged crimes but came away suspicious.

So yeah, that'd be my set up anyway.

Honestly a fun part of this could be that as Chloé was targeted, she'd know the truth.

And Gabe doesn't think much of her as anything but a tool, so he'd never expect her campaigning against him to ever get off the ground. But it's enough for a small rebellion.

Born in London with a silver spoon in her mouth, Brianne Corinne Landry is the only child of Henry Landry, COO of Arasaka Bank EU, and Corinne Guyot, a wealthy French socialite and freelance interior designer. The couple was a mismatch of sorts. Sure, both came from wealthy backgrounds: the Landrys made their millions in international financial investing. Their London and Hong Kong-based firm survived the economic crashes by going exclusive with Arasaka in the 1980s and leaving HK before the plague. The Guyots built their empire in French real state. While Henry continued his father’s dedication to Arasaka, filing into corpo life, Corinne was more than content to enjoy the freedoms of wealth. They met while Henry was in Paris.

A father who unforgivingly worked long hours and a mother who was not fond of a life domestically caged in (and in London) made for an unhappy marriage. Corinne and Henry were divorced and Corinne moved back to Cannes, France. Brianne spent time between the two locations (London and Cannes) though was primarily raised by her grandmother in London.

Growing up, any “quality” time spent with daddy dearest was on his day off or for an early nighttime tuck-in. He instead provided her with everything she needed to succeed (preferably in his footsteps at Arasaka). Besides her grandmother, nannies did their fair share of raising her, as did tutors and school.

While the spitting image of her mother, Brianne is her father’s daughter in disposition. However, she is most akin to her grandmother in terms of her compassion and empathy. Paternal pressure aside (he was always the stricter parent), she felt compelled to make her father proud in her studies. There’s also an uncle, aunt, and cousin on her father’s side and a half-sister and stepmother who were all influences. Her grandmother always made sure Landry holidays were special (with all the trimmings one should expect). Her stepmother was also the same. On her mother’s side, the wealthy Guyots would celebrate together in grand style with a yearly retreat to the family-owned vineyard in Burgandy, France.

An idyllic childhood? Yes, when the basic necessities are hard to come by for the majority of the population. Reflective how the corpo elite is able to maintain their positions on top by having access to resources and education. Was it restrictive? Very. Set within the parameters of class, heavily guarded estates and school campuses, and expectations to succeed by whatever means necessary. That is, to use all your luxe resources to their advantage.

As far as etiquette school, her all-girls schools covered it. The best posture money could buy.
