Just listened to a whole discussion about phone use in kids and I just need to sit, process, and vent for a second.
The speaker started with saying phones are a problem, because folks are more disconnected and looking at their phones at any given time throughout the day. I have a bone to pick with that, because, prior to smartphones, people were doing that, whether listening to their walkman, reading a book, drawing, imagining in their heads, playing with a toy they brought along, talking to someone, or playing with something they just found in their environment. People were just as distracted then, it was just less monolithically apparent, because of the wider diversity of distractions used - after all, you can listen to music, read, have a conversation, and play a game all on one singular tool now.
Then, they segued to the impact of phones on mental health. The problem is, however, the data and arguments used were data pertaining to screen time as a whole, which has been present since at least the 90s, talking about television use, later evolving to computer use; and about the mental health impacts of social media and unsupervised access to the Internet, which, again, is data and research that preceded smartphones.
Lastly, the speaker spent a significant amount of time discussing strategies of control over what their kids see, and I'm of mixed opinions about that. Yes, kids need safeguards, but if your viewpoint is coming from the avenue of control, you're already losing the battle. Instead, it should be about facilitation and supporting your kids to make wise decisions, first with safeguards, then without. Functionally these approaches often look similar, but because the motivation is different, the outcome is also often significantly different.
So, I'm not saying that you shouldn't monitor your child's smartphone use or that you shouldn't wait until they are of a developmental maturity to be able to use a phone responsibly, but what I am saying is that phrasing this conversation around restricting access to the tool (smartphones) and controlling your kids' exposures misses the actual risks and harms and creates an authoritarian relationship with your child. Instead, focus on creating alternative distractions to smartphones, incorporating phone screens into overall screen time limitations, and set up safeguards regarding what content your kids are accessing.

The worst part about being home is that I am constsntly aware that I am being watched. My every action is judged. I can't just spend a whole day in my room doing nothing productive bc then I'm a bad child who doesn't spend time with her family or im a lazy child, etc
Cant I please just exist? Can't I please not have to be with my folks all the damn time? I'm a full ass adult I shouldnt have to measure how much interaction I have with them on a daily basis so theyre happy

Useful Tips for Parents
Effective parenting in the digital age requires comprehensive parental controls and intelligent activity tracking. Understanding your child's interactions, monitoring their content consumption, and knowing who they turn to for support during personal challenges are essential for shaping their world positively. To truly comprehend your child's interests and activities, even when they are out of your immediate sight, is crucial for guiding them in the right direction. Achieving a harmonious balance in parenting is paramount, and this is where a powerful parental control tool like Screen Time can greatly simplify your role. With its intuitive insights and enhanced control features, it empowers you to be a more effective and vigilant parent. In the blog of FindMyKids from the writer Rebekah Pierce  you can find a lot of useful information for parents, namely how to set up parental controls in search engines, how to protect children from unwanted information, how to block some websites and much more.
Apple has progressively developed a robust parental control tool, reducing the reliance on third-party parental control apps for monitoring and limiting your child's device usage.

How do Parental Spy apps track children's online activity?
Tumblr media
Parental spy apps are a tool that give parents the privilege to track their children’s online activity. They also allow parents to control and set certain limits to these activities but that depends on the features and other factors based on which one can perform these activities.
Today, the kids are technologically very advanced. Every kid is equipped with smartphones and also has a presence on the internet. This is the reason why parents are so concerned about their safety and monitoring children’s online behavior has become crucial for them.
In this article, we will read about how these spy apps function for your child’s online activity tracking and assuring the internet safety for kids and your loved ones.
What Are Parental Spy Apps?
As mentioned above parental Spy apps are a tool with the help of which you can track your loved ones’ online activity. You can view the content they watch, the people they interact with, their real-time location. You can also block the websites that you think are not right for them and much more.
There are numerous phone monitoring apps available on the internet that you will find, some could be free while most of them would be paid apps. Usually, the free apps offer less features and security as compared to the paid apps. Also, despite offering similar services, different spy apps would have something different in them in terms of features, packages, and performance.
We will now read about the features that are commonly offered by the mobile spy apps that can help you track your child’s online behavior.
Features Of A Phone Spy App
There are many features offered by a phone spy app that are helpful in tracking your child and also allow you to take certain actions based on what the kid is doing. Let us learn more about these features.
Call Recorder: The hidden call recorder is an effective feature when you want to remotely listen to the calls of the concerned person. Not only you can listen to the calls but also get the information of the complete log that provides you the details of the other person on the call also like their name and phone number.
Location Tracker: You can remotely track your child when you want to know about their whereabouts. The GPS tracking feature shares accurate and timely information.
Social Media Monitoring: To track your child’s social media, you can use the social media tracking tool that allows you to see their activity on the social platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
Web Browser History: The websites your child visits is a major concern for parents and to ensure that, you can access their web browsing history with a spy app for android.
Website Blocking: You can block the websites that you think are not supposed to be viewed by your child by remotely blocking the site through certain settings.
Screen-Time Management: Most of the digital parenting tools allow you to manage the screen-time of your child so that you can ensure that they are not spending too much time in front of the screen.
How Are Digital Parenting Tools Helpful?
The digital parenting tools are the software that you need in today’s digitally advanced times. Digital parenting is the solution for digital children. The features mentioned above are not only beneficial when you have tried most of the resources available to look after your child when nothing works, but also when you intentionally want to monitor everything your child does on their phone.
We will discuss how these mentioned features can help in digital parenting. Starting from the call recording feature, this feature works well when your child is constantly on calls and won’t let you around them when they are talking on the phone.  With the help of the hidden call recorder, you can remotely listen to your child along with the other person talking to them. Once the call is completed, the mobile spy app will store all the information on the dashboard.
The other feature that parents commonly look for in a phone spy app is the live location tracker. This feature allows you to view the real-time location of your child to ensure that they are exactly where they are supposed to be. Usually children lie about their whereabouts and that is when this feature comes in handy.
Today, every child is on social media and we know how impactful this platform is in both positive and negative ways. While some children find it cool to be on social media, other kids are there just because of the peer pressure. Whatever the reason is, the bottom line is that all the children are online. In the online world, all types of people are present and there are also people who wish to harm others digitally leading to a traumatizing experience also in some cases, so it is important that parents use the digital monitoring tools to ensure their children’s safety.
When new to the internet, kids would want to explore everything they see online. They may also see content that is not age-appropriate. Later on, this may become a habit to view the violating content that can turn into serious addiction. To ensure that they do not watch anything inappropriate, one can use the web browsing history tracker to see which websites the kids are visiting and if you think that it is inappropriate then you can also immediately block them, restricting your kids to not be able to watch any exploiting content.
The Spy App You Need
There are multiple apps available on the internet that provide parental monitoring but be sure to invest in an app that delivers results. There are basic to premium plans that you can choose from as per your requirements and the support team at service also guides you through the process from choosing the right plan for you to installation of the spyware.

Fragile Footsteps
empathy for whom with more to say without the time to convey
"You never open up," they say,
A closed-off soul, they perceive each day.
But when I dare to speak my mind,
They nitpick and offend, a response unkind.
I am blunt, while they tiptoe with care,
"Make it sound different," they declare.
How do I converse with a lofty soul,
A parent whose superiority takes its toll?
But as I pose that daunting query,
They shut me down, claim it's all theory.
Denying every word, dismissing my voice,
Leaving no room for understanding or choice.
A superiority complex they possess,
Believing they're better, above the rest.
Condescending, they look upon others low,
Their children included, a harsh blow.
Mad at me for waiting to stumble and fall,
Trouble arising from nowhere, their call.
Children in their grip, facing constant strife,
Affecting their well-being, draining life.
Low self-esteem takes its toll,
Feeling inadequate, a heavy toll.
Fear of failure lingers, a weight so vast,
Their ambitions curtailed, present and past.
Perfectionism arises, a burden to bear,
To meet high standards, an endless affair.
Seeking approval, desperate for praise,
Their sense of self lost in a haze.
Resentment builds, relationships strained,
Criticism endured, the bond restrained.
Autonomy and decisions cast aside,
Parent's judgment, the only guide.
Emotional distress, anxiety's embrace,
Worthlessness lingers, a darkened space.
Complaints dismissed, grievances ignored,
My voice unheard, my soul deplored.
But what is a "complain" if not expression,
Of discontent, seeking resolution's progression.
Dismissed and misunderstood, my plea,
A lack of understanding, as clear as can be.
Dismiss, get offended, correct my every word,
Listening? No, not a trait they've preferred.
To open up, I must tread so light,
Align my words with their superior might.
High horse, a phrase I dare to speak,
Yet they recoil, their reaction bleak.
Judgmental they are, critiquing all,
Their parenting prowess, never to fall.
Arrogance claims their sense of right,
More knowledgeable, an incessant plight.
Self-righteousness clouds their view,
Invalidating perspectives, a judgment they spew.
Control they crave, every aspect they steer,
Micromanaging lives, instilling fear.
Lacking empathy, distant from the pain,
Their own methods, the ultimate reign.
Criticism, their Achilles' heel,
Defensive, dismissive, their response surreal.
Oh, the high horse they ride, so grand,
Unwilling to consider, they cannot understand.
So, in this poem, I speak my truth,
Of a parent lost in superiority's booth.
May understanding find its way,
And bridge the gap that lingers today.

Hello!
My parent has installed parental controls.
I don't mind at all, for the most part. I'm cool with limited screen time, monitoring the apps I use and my texts to make sure I'm not planning to hurt myself or others or that others aren't planning to hurt me or themselves! Totally cool with it. /gen
My problem is? I still want to be able to do NSFW stuff. Idc about being blocked from pornsites, I don't need to watch porn. I want to be able to talk about consent with my partner or roleplay (really embarrassing for me to admit I roleplay nsfw. Please be nice to me.)
But I think it would make it 10x worse if I straight up asked my parent to remove the nsfw portion because then they'd KNOW I'm doing all that weird stuff.
I'm definitely old enough for it. My parent has given me explicit permission to "try stuff out" with my partner and to be on sex education sites or blogs. They just said no porn sites.
But when I spoke to my partner about it over messages, they confronted me about it. When they saw my nsfw roleplays, they confronted me. I was so embarrassed.
Any tips to get around it or to gain courage to ask them?
P.s. I've tried using other devices, but it's installed onto the wifi.
P.p.s. I understand I am a minor but they've given me permission to do stuff because they know I'm educated on how to be safe. (They've even given me tips?)

On cartoon shows in profits driven age and parental control
Since an ulcer was ravaging my internals, I needed someone to look over me. As a bachelor with a landlord at his place he had learnt to detest, I finally accepted my well-wishers’ offer to come and stay at their place until recovery. These were the same people paying for my rent and each month I struggled to have them pay before the fifth day of the month even after more than fifty phone calls.…
