A long awaited reunion. This week we have a DOUBLE UPDATE for the parent trap fic. Two whole chapters. Link in da replies.

Ohhh 1. Parent trap please??? 👀👀👀

So I love this one! It's, unfortunately, on the back burner, but I hope to get back to it eventually. Life is just insane right now and I have zero free time. :(

So! Good Omens Human AU. Aziraphale and Crowley were childhood friends in a fundamentalist religious cult. Crowley is ftm, but didn't realize until later in life. Before he transitioned, they got married and had twin boys: Adam and Warlock.

Well, Crowley chafes under the prescribed life "she" is leading and leaves, divorcing Aziraphale in the process. Takes Warlock along.

Flash forward 11 years, two boys at a summer camp in Scotland start a rivalry. The boys are adamant that they cannot go home, so drastic measures are taken to get them to become friends. While rooming together in a small cabin, Warlock sees a photo of his dad (Crowley) in his wedding dress that Adam has. Adam reads the inscription in a book Warlock has that was written by his dad (Aziraphale). They decide to switch places and get their dads back together. Cue shenanigans, heart break, discussions of love and loss, and self forgiveness.

Most of this is hand written in various notebooks, but I do have one section typed that I am proud of. It's when Crowley realizes he has Adam instead of Warlock. I haven't done much editing, so apologies if it's a bit rough around the edges. (Potential trigger warning for non-explicit references to a trans man being pregnant and giving birth, but it's just kinda something he went through. He doesn't have any dysphoria or negative emotions about it in this scene.) Missing background, Crowley is a lawyer who has only graduated school in the last couple years and is taking lead on his first big case.

Crowley had his tablet out as he ate breakfast and the screen reader read off his emails. Work hadn’t slowed down at all since Warlock had come home. Each new development raised more questions and sent him down two new rabbit holes. At least Warlock wasn’t complaining about having to spend time at the office like he usually did. Just one of the many strange things since he’d come back from camp.

He looked over at Warlock’s bed and sighed. He’d rushed out without making it. Again. What had gotten into that boy? He paused the screen reader in the middle of another demanding email from Beez. Going over to the bed, he set the pillows on the floor and pulled back the sheets. Something black and soft fell to the floor. Curious, Crowley picked it up. It was an old, well-worn stuffed snake. “What the…?” he asked himself. Warlock didn’t have anything like this.

He turned it around and stared at its yellow eyes. His breath caught. He remembered this. They’d been shopping for the boys when he was pregnant. Aziraphale had seen this snake and waved it in his face going on about how its eyes matched Crowley’s. He’d grumbled, but tossed it in the basket anyway. He looked at the bottom of the tail, and sure enough, in red thread was an embroidered “A.”

“Adam,” he breathed. His knees gave out and he sat down hard on the bed. He’d stuck himself at least three times sewing the small initial. Keeping grip on the snake he buried his face in his hands. How long had Adam been here?

But he knew. Camp. They both must have been there. It explained so much; Warlock, no Adam, had been so different after coming back. His breath shook as he tried to take deep, steady breaths. He couldn’t afford to panic right now. Adam was just next door with Marjorie. He could go and get him and figure out what had happened.

The sharp sound of his ring tone broke through his spiraling thoughts and he stumbled over to the kitchen table where his phone sat next to his cold toast. “What?” he demanded.

A pause, then Newt’s voice came through, “I was going to ask when you were getting in. Found something interesting. But…are you okay?”

Crowley ran his hand over his face. “Fuck. Work. I don’t think I can make it in today.”

“Beez is going to be pissed if you don’t.”

Crowley cursed again. “I know! But I’m in the middle of a family emergency.” He couldn’t quite keep the hysteria out of his voice.

“Is Warlock okay?” Newt asked quickly, concern obvious.

“I don’t know! Apparently I haven’t seen him in a month! I don’t know where Warlock is!”

“What are you talking about? You brought him to the office yesterday.”

Crowley didn’t know whether the noise he made was a laugh or a sob. “No, apparently I brought Adam to the office yesterday.”

“Who the hell is Adam?”

“My other son! They must have switched places. They are both going to be grounded until they’re 18 for this.”

“You have another son?”

“Yes! Warlock and Adam are twins! I had custody of Warlock and their father of Adam! Keep up, Newt!”

“Ah, right. Because I should know what’s going on here. You have two sons? Since when?”

“Eleven years ago when I gave birth to them!”

“I’ll make your excuses to Beez. But things are crazy here; we just got another box of documents and, well, you’ll want to see this.”

“Right. Yes. I know. Fucking hell. God damn it. Those boys will be the death of me. I just… Give me a few hours. I can’t think right now. It’s Adam. And I need to talk to Warlock, make sure he’s all right. Fuck.”

“Good luck. And tell Adam I’m looking forward to meeting him properly.”

Crowley didn’t even know what to say to that and just hung up. Right. Time to face his son. His other son.

Thank you! Honestly, I envy the ability to buttonmash at times. Like, you see all this advice about “don’t worry if the words are perfect or not, just get them on the page! You can always come back and fix them later.” And brain’s up here like “haha, no. Get away from that computer; we’re not typing a single thing until it’s 100% exactly perfect.”

Random writin' thought:

Someone mentioned, in an AO3 comment on If Not Now, When, that they were basically dying of second-hand embarrassment from reading Crowley's slow destruction, and they asked whether it was hard for me to write for the same reason. And the answer is... no, honestly not. For the most part, when Crowley is being a disaster, I'm at the keyboard grinning wickedly as I try to think of ways for him to put his foot in it even worse. Oh, yes, he could say *this* accidentally-flirtatious thing, but... ohh, but it's even more blatant if he says *that*. Yessss. Suffer, my son, sufferrrr. Plainly Aziraphale is blushing neon red because you're humiliating him, and not because in his secret heart of hearts he is thinking oh my goodness I hope that you mean it That Way my dear but I'm sure I scarce dare to dream.

But what's super hard, in an emotional sense, for me to write is the Tenderness and the Yearning. I feel it very strongly in my soft little heart as I work -- I'll get the same sort of fluttering in my chest and swoopy feeling in my stomach that I do when reading tender things -- and I'll actually have to stop, repeatedly, letting myself come down a little bit from it before I come up with more words. I'm in a bit right now in chapter 8 where they're both coming *so close* to using their words, *almost*, if even one of them was competent at reading the room then there would be So Many Kisses in this fancy French restaurant, but hahahaha whoops. And it's slow going, because oh my goodness I *feel* it. So I hafta switch back to my browser and check my email repeatedly. Or play Tents And Trees.

Writer pals, I'm really curious now. Is there a kind of scene that always messes you up while you're writing it? Death via second-hand embarrassment, or via Tender Yearning Softness, or something else?

Thing that I realized about my GOmens Parent Trap AU:

Adam - generally friendly and good-natured, but not above harmless mischief or causing trouble for people who deserve it (people who are mean, mostly). However he does occasionally have very specific ideas about the way things should work and is prone to self-righteous fits of pique if these notions are challenged.

Warlock - gives of an air of casual indifference and being above it all. He seems very cool and like he just gets it. In fact, he’s a bit of a social dumb and is frequently emotionally vulnerable.

They each take after the parent that raised them, is what I’m saying.

SO. For the past few months my friend @illustrious-slimer has been writing a Parent Trap au fic that is PRETTY MUCH COMPLETE, and I’m doing accompanying illustrations for it 🩷 Here’s the illustration for Chapter 1, which takes place when they meet: Spring, 1985.

to give u an insanely quick rundown with a wip art i have:

aziraphale as elizabeth. wedding dress designer under his pen name A.Z. Fell. (hes an artist as confirmed in s2 and the whole "drawing on napkins" thing elizabeth would do appeals to me immensely)

crowley as nick. owns a vineyard. I NEED HIM TO OWN A VINEYARD SO BAD. shoutout to Old Vines on ao3 for changing me in a fundamental way. he makes wines and he tends to the vines and he is so passionate about it to an abusurdist degree. he yells at his vines when they arent growing right. you already knowwww.

when they meet for the first time, they don’t meet on a boat like in the movie, they actually meet at a wedding party :J crowley was a wine collector, just starting out. he loved offering aziraphale samplings of his most vintage collection out of impulse. (he likes seeing the way aziraphale savors them) (he’s besotted) Wants to own his own vineyard one day. aziraphale, on the other hand, has dreams of becoming a fashion designer of sorts, always drawing ideas on any scraps of paper he can find. his designs are very old fashioned, but thats like… part of the appeal. his work very much reflects who he is, and the people who flock to it understand that.

they enter this kind of… whirlwind relationship, they get married, and then eventually adopt two golden haired blue eyed baby boys. twins. :J warlock and adam.

they break things off because aziraphale leaves... alluding to their recent breakup in season two, the reason he left was because "we both clearly had very different ideas on where our lives were going. so. i packed up and left." (parallel s2 divorce 😋 they don’t know how to talk to each other) (aziraphale throws a book at his head after this argument, like the hairdryer in the movie LOL. it was pride and prejudice. crowley still has it.)

aziraphale leaves with adam. warlock is left with crowley. crowley eventually leaves London because he finds he cant stand being anywhere near Aziraphale (hes just irresistible in that way), and he goes to California where he finally fulfills his dream of owning a vineyard. a nice one on Napa, Northern California.

Aziraphale’s wedding dresses become more and more well known, Adam grows well-adjusted. Same kid you know from the show and book, natural born leader, a good head on his shoulders. (Aziraphale has no idea why Adam is like that, but he is so proud)

Crowley’s vineyard (The Garden Of Eden) grows and grows… Warlock is spoiled rotten, but he does love actually working at the vineyard with Crowley to and he and Crowley have a really good relationship…

Eventually the kids go to a summer camp together in London (i dont know if they . do this in the UK, but suspend your disbelief if you will) Adam meets The Them there, then meets Warlock after a nutty fencing thing, they kind of hate each other at first and the rest is history :J

side characters UM. LOL. idk……. i mean i kind of know but not really? theres just so many possibilities that make the rounds in my head. chessy could be anathema OR nina (ive had people suggest eric too?) and martin could be newt OR maggie (ive also had people suggest muriel????) gestures vaguely.

as for meredith…….erm…………🤷‍♂️ ive had everything under the sun suggested to me and i still……have no idea. LOL. gabriel, lucifer, shaX, FURFUR, THE WIFE FROM THE NON-SPOILER SPOILERS. I DONT KNOW. IT ALL FEELS WRONG. its hard to come up with this role in particular when these gay bitches literally only have eyes for each other. always. forever. u know. i think lucy is like. the classic answer. but idfk.
