- Macaque was very glad when he had a cub with you. He tried his best to keep up a 'cool' demeanor, but he couldn't help crumbling when he saw the bright, curious eyes of your cub looking up at him

- He co-parented with you the best he could. He was new to this, the entire concept of parenting, but he took your lead and worked with you to accomplish it. He learned the best he could how to be gentle, how to be a kind and guiding father to the little infant you had together

- He had his moments of slipping or panicking a bit, of course. You were used to him suddenly handing you your cub with some little problem he got caught up with, or the cub simply being super emotional and Macaque having no idea what to do when the poor thing was crying for literally no reason. He was no stranger to sleepless nights, but it took a while for his sensitive ears to get used to the piercing baby cries

- When the cub got older, Macaque had adjusted fully, and was now completely fit into his role as a dad. He'd talk to you about concerns he had over your cub, the biggest he had being protection. Macaque led a dangerous life, one with what felt like constant enemies. Even if he put his battles with Wukong aside, associating with the Monkey Crew put him in extraterrestrial battles often

- He brought up the idea of self-defense training to you as soon as possible because of this. You had many long discussions about it, which ended in him agreeing to wait until your cub was old enough for it to be safe

- As the cub grew, they saw Macaque's frequent training and heard about his acts of heroism (that he swore was because he had to), and they ended up taking after their baba like a duckling to a little pond of water. To Macaque's mild surprise, the cub actually approached him first with the training idea

- With your additional approval and supervision, Macaque began proper training. You kept a close eye, reminding Macaque that your kid was different than him, and he needed to take it easy. It took a few weeks to get the formula just right, but Macaque was eventually able to set a stable and comfortable rhythm with your cub to train with

- Training was at least twice every week, or whenever your kid asked for extra assistance. Now that Macaque had a pace that was accommodating to them, he was able to see them properly begin to flourish and make progress. He frequently told you how proud he was of your cub, and soon extended that praise to your kid as well, showing his pride in their work

- The cub frequently came to you to show off any moves they learned, and reassured you whenever you became worried about them. It brought them a lot of joy to have those bonding moments with Macaque, and you could tell Macaque held those moments close to his heart

- If your cub ever gets hurt during training, Macaque always feels terrible. As an old habit, he might distance himself for a bit as he deals with the shame. He didn't want this to be like what he'd done to MK, he didn't want his kid to see themself as a weapon. Several discussions with you and others helped him learn why that mentality was bad. Even through constant reassurances, he couldn't help but be a little protective over your kid together, and there's usually a long break after any injuries until the cub is absolutely 100% sure that they're ready to continue

- Macaque can't help but brag if he ever sees your kid using the tactics he taught them, he practically puffs up with pride and makes sure to mention how he was their mentor, to prove to others (and himself) that he's capable of being kind and a genuinely good dad

Introducing another major character: Nezha!

For the AU I thought it’d be interesting to play with the design of Nezha having a younger appearance, since he is supposed to be the god of children and I’ve seen other medias do this too.

Nezha plays a major role in the development of the celestial realm and politics after Wukong ascends the role, admittedly this does not happen from the beginning. Nezha is allowed a role in the court around 400 years after the ascension of the throne due to his previous ties to the jade emperor and his court, his loyalty was strong until he realized he could help more from the inside and that his previous role on the court had not let him do much other than being a glorified guard.

He respects Wukong’s strength but he is not yet trustful of his abilities as the ruler of all realms, so he demands to be his assistant, to keep him on track and on the matters that are important. Although, once he does start working for him he does figure out that Wukong is not as bad as ruler as he was expecting, politically, his court is full of people who are experts in their own matters and provide a variety of discussion and solutions during meetings, and while he though Wukong had stayed the same Monkey King he knew from the wars and mayhem, he had grown as a ruler and cared about the realms in ways that Nezha had not seen other celestials had.

Nezha is closed off and even hostile for a while at the beginning, but he does start mellowing out around the time that Macaque is expecting, being the god of children he can’t help but be protective and clingy, leading to the Six-eared Macaque having a kid following him around like a duckling.

Also I find it really funny that Nezha was the first to find out Macaque was pregnant even before he did

Nezha is not shocked because Macaque is expecting, no he thinks he’d be a good parent,

He’s more in shock that Wukong procreated.

Bonus:

(Nezha becomes so close to the royal family that there is an inside joke in the court that he is the Emperor’s eldest child. Much to Nezha and Wukong’s dismay and Macaque’s amusement.

Couldn’t figure out some of the logistics of this scene since it doesn’t completely line up with the story of the ShadowPeach Bio Parents AU, so instead I just made it about the AU in general

I had a lot of fun making this
