Deuce knew a lot about luffy despite never having met them, Ace talked about Luffy all the time and any chance he could get to in the past. Now that he was here on the ship with Ace he was going to get to see and learn about luffy for himself, to form his own opinions on him from his own experiences. So to see him just plop himself down in front of him and squint at him in a way that appeared to be studying him confused him until Luffy spoke about what it was that he wanted.

"Going to need to be a little more specific there Luffy. what exactly is it that Ace is keeping from you that you want to know about?" Direct and to the point of what he wanted, just like Ace had said he was. Yet he still needed a little more clarification on what it was Luffy wanted to know specifically, he wasn't just going to talk about Ace's business without knowing what to talk about. Even if it was Ace's brother.

dinner, unsurprisingly, was usually the meal with more elaborate dishes. on a normal day like today, he’d start preparing dinner about four hours before, because he had a lot to prepare. it was almost always just him in the kitchen, lost in his thoughts, as he went through the motions of cooking, putting his all into everything he cooked. in the middle of sautéing some mushrooms, the kitchen door opens, and sanji’s expecting luffy to be standing in the doorway. about to tell the captain off, when he turns his head, he’s surprised to see usopp in the kitchen. what could usopp possibly want? oh, he wants to keep him company. sanji freezes for a second, clearly caught off guard. but he gets right back to it almost immediately, continuing to move the mushrooms around. “ yeah, that’s fine… i don’t mind that. ” theres a pause, sanji’s gaze turning back towards the pan. “ as long as you’re not in my way, and as long as you’re not trying to distract me so luffy can sneak into the kitchen. i’ll kick both of your asses overboard if that’s what you’re trying to do. ” he clears his throat, as he briefly looks up at usopp. “ maybe you can tell me a story, help pass the time as i get everything prepared. ”

It wasn't far-fetched to think Sanji's momentary pause was surprise, considering it's usually their boisterous glutton of a captain demanding food from the blond. The sniper's suspicion was quickly proven right at Sanji's words, and a light chuckle leaves him.

"Nah, pretty sure Franky and Chopper are up to something below deck at the moment. Something about a 'Super Cool Weapon Brainstorming' or something." Normally, Usopp would go along, easily wrapped up in the shenanigans of his easily amazed crewmates. But he found himself wanting a quieter evening for once.

Normally, he'd hang with Nami or work on some upgrades of his own. But giving the cook some company while he fiddled with his slingshot sounded like a good idea, since he was normally left alone to cook for hours. He didn't doubt the blond loved it, but still, a little company was nice.

At Sanji's suggestion, his eyebrows raised, along with the corners of his lips. Usopp was nothing short of delighted to spin another story, regardless of if his crew knew it was a lie from the start. With a grin, he sits at the table, placing Kuro Kabuto on the table along with his tools and ammo. Making himself comfortable, he began to speak as his hands worked.

"Well, have I ever told you of the time I defeated 800 Navy ships? There I was, surrounded on all sides by 20- no- 50 million navy soldiers...!"

If was somewhat embarrassing fleeing like this. But when her captain had that serious look in his eye... Kimiko couldn't disobey a direct order. She'd swore her loyalty to him. And she'd be damned if she was going to disrespect that. Even if it did wound her pride a little. So she'd agreed to let him handle this one on one... as a duel between warriors. What kind of woman who she be if she denied him that basic right?

Embarking on the ship, she feels out of breath... like something wasn't right. Catching Nami's eye, she feels the slight blur to her vision. How long had that been there?

Feeling Nami beside her, the sorceress leans into her a little confused. "I was, we ran into some trouble. He wanted to handle it alone." Looking down she spots the growing red stain at her side... so that's what it was. Was that why Luffy had sent her back? "Ahh, that's why I'm so out of breath... oops. Not his fault... I must have been careless."

Satoru spent time observing the other since there was traces of curse energy lurking about and learned through that the other really loved food, specially meat.
