note. I publish this oneshot in my old account, but that account is now deleted. I wrote this story back when I saw the full version of dark blood. Looking at Sunoo concept photo, made me want to write this story. So I did! I hope it is your liking! If there are more people enjoy the oneshot, then I might make a series out of this!

Spinning around the black king chess piece, in the dark room. There was only a candle lit up in the dark room. Two people were in the room playing an intense game of chess. A male with his legs crossed smirked as he made his last move. "Checkmate, I guess I won for the 10th time," he smirked. But not any kind of smirk. The smirk that has an evil plan, the smirk that everyone is afraid of. The evil smirk.

The other male felt shivers as he looked at the chessboard. Rubbing his arms as he felt spiders crawling dangerously inside of him. He couldn't even look up at the male who won for the 10th time.

Sunoo spinned the black king chess piece again and looked at the poor man who was frightened. "Y-you cheated!" The frightened man pointed at him. He frowned and glared at the man before dropping the king chess piece onto the table. The male gulped nervously and stood up before slowly backing away. He stood up and slowly walked closer to the frightened male. The male slipped on his foot and fell onto the ground.

Sunoo squatted in front of the male and took his hands on the poor man's chin. He lifted the man's chin. "Me? Cheated? Oh, you poor thing. I didn't cheat. Why would I cheat?" He looked at the man with an innocent face. The male gulped once again. Sunoo laughed before looking at the man and lifting his chin even higher to make the man look at him. "I never cheated. But I know you did."

"H-how did you know?" The male stuttered. Sunoo smirked. "I know your every move." The man gulped. "Oh don't be scared. I won’t hurt you….. or will I," he chuckled under his breath. Sunoo let go of the man's chin. He signaled someone to come closer. You couldn't see from how dark the room was, but there was another person in the room besides Sunoo and the man. The person walked up to him and gave him a dagger. He took it behind him before he took off the sheath.

The male backed away as fast as he could until he hit the wall. It's game over for him. Sunoo stood up from the floor. His heart was pounding faster and faster against his chest, shaking uncontrollably as he watched Sunoo walking slowly, dangerously closer to him.

"Oh my, you poor poor thing, why are you scared? I promise it will just hurt a little bit," Sunoo chuckled. He squatted back down. The man flinched as Sunoo carelessly stroked his cheeks. "You look so pretty, but your personality ruined your face." He frowned innocently before taking the dagger up to the man's cheeks.

The man felt his breath hitched. He looked at Sunoo with horror in his eyes. He looked at the man who was behind the dark king. Asking for help in his eyes, but the man didn't do anything. He just stared blankly. Sunoo looked at the dagger and spinned his waist.

Sunoo took the dagger near the frightened man before carelessly stoking it against his cheeks. "You know the consequences when you lose to the black king in a game of chess, Chul." he tonelessly said. Blood slowly drips down from the cut on the cheeks. Chul nodded uncontrollably. "I-I."

"Hush, child." Sunoo put a finger on his face. "I don’t want to hear another word." He carelessly stoked the blood of the open cut. Chul winced in pain. Sunoo used his unused hand and lifted his chin.

"You look even more pretty with blood dripping down your cheeks. The frightened look in your eyes. Makes me want to kiss you." Sunoo smirked. He dropped the dagger before kissing right on the cheeks and sucking a little blood. Chul's eyes widened while shaking in fear.

Sunoo kissed the cut once again before backing away. He smirked when he saw Chul's expression. He stood up from squatting and went to the chessboard. "Every move each piece moves the king always knows the next moves." He moved the chess pieces. "Don't let the king know your next move." He used the black king to hit a white pawn before picking up the white pawn that fell from the board.

Sunoo walked towards Chul and squatted down again. He showed the white pawn to the man. "You are like this chess pawn. Lost and frightened." He looked at the pawn while saying those words. "Just like this pawn. There are many pawns in the game of chess and even in this world. Each pawn needs to be careful or else."

"But here you are, dare to play a game of chess with the black king. Ending up losing 10 times. You even made a vow to the black king, if you lose to the game of chess then you will become a puppet." Tears were falling unconsciously. Sunoo squatted back down and frowned. "You're crying? Your poor thing." He wiped the tears. "Don't worry I will take care of you." He went on his knees and then leaned closer to Chul."Good night," he whispered to Chul's ear before biting the neck.

After a while, Sunoo backed away and wiped the extra blood. He tonelessly looked at Chul who was unconscious. He stood up and gave the dagger to the other man in the room. Before fixing his school uniform, he left the room without saying another word.

Walking slowly and steadily, like he was in the runaway with a smirk on his face. Everyone in the hallway was frightened and didn't bravely look at him as he walked past them. He entered another room and saw the vice president inside already. The vice president saw him and walked up to him. "How was the game of chess?"

Sunoo picked up a white pawn that was on his desk and smirked. Spinning it around with his fingers. "Good, I won ten times," he answered. "Like always," the vice president said. Sunoo hummed in response as he put down the white pawn and took a black king. Knocking down the white pawn with his black king.

"It was a fun game. The white pawn was a cute one." He said as he sat down on the chair, legs crossed. "But his personality was ugly." The vice president nodded. "How was everything while I was good?" He asked as he took the cup of what looked like wine.

"Dangerously good, I took care of everything." The vice president told him with a smirk on his face. Sunoo nodded as he spinned the cup in his hands. He took a slip of the so-called wine. Before playing with the pawn. Putting down the pawn and taking the black king into his hands. He stared at it and smirked as he played with it on the tips of his fingers. Gently kissed it before looking at the vice president.

"So is there anything I have to do, Jungwon?" He asked him. Jungwon thought for a second. "Well, I got the news." He leaned on the chair as he played with the king in his hands. "What is it?" The vice president walked closer to the desk. "Well, there is a new student." He put down a stack of papers about the new student. Sunoo took it from him and looked through it. "Oh, a female?" He asked while glancing at the vice president. He nodded.

"I see." he skimmed through the papers before he carelessly put down the papers and took a new white pawn piece into his hands. He spinned the chair, looking through the window behind him. He saw the female who looked like the one in the papers he just looked at. Rolling her suitcases towards the school. They looked pretty nervous. He smirked and looked at the pawn. "A new game of chess is just starting. Let's see how long the new pawn stays in a dangerous place."

Concealed beneath the unassuming exterior of “Dusk and Dawn,” a gym that serves as the front of a totally legal business, this underground fight club acts as the epicenter for this violent world where supernatural beings not only fight for dominance and pride but for the sheer thrill of it all. In dire need of some money, you find yourself drawn into the fight club when you come across a black market job posting- an offer for a new trainer at the gym. Desperate for new ways to keep your own abilities under wraps and even learn about other supernatural beings, you accept the position, completely unaware of the dangers and complicated relationships that await you

Your city was different from the others. It was populated with supernatural beings that hid in plain sight, and only the government knew of their truth. The rest of the world, including the unsuspecting humans, had no idea that they walked on the same streets as did you so called ‘monsters’ that should have only existed in stories.

But if any of you were to be caught by those stupid scanners that those government officials carried around in their belt, they’d be arrested on site, thrown into a padded room and left to rot in secrecy. So you- like everyone else who had the misfortune of being ‘different’- stayed hidden. You never left your home. You ordered everything you ever needed online and worked from home when you could afford it.

You lived in Luxta, a city that was neither big nor small- large enough that not everyone knew each other, but small enough that it didn’t take more than 4 hours to get from one end to the other. Not that it mattered much to you. At this point, you were starting to think you had a deeper connection with your delivery driver than anyone else in your life.

You had spent your whole existence confined indoors, existing only to service your human parents- like some kind of bloody commodity. It didn’t take a genius to figure out that you were nothing more than a piece of capital to them. A quick search on the black market and you learned the ugly truth of your existence: you had been traded at the age of three, put into their possession.

On the off chance that a human knew about a supernatural being, it was likely because they owned them (bought them); like your parents did with you. Most supernaturals raise themselves with the help of the black market community, their powers often enough to carry them through their childhood.

As a phoenix, you were an expensive commodity. A rare being in the supernatural world, your regenerative qualities and healing abilities were sought after by many, but not a lot had access to them. Your parents, both a construction worker and firefighter, were no strangers to danger. Injuries were a common occurrence in their lives, and having you around to heal their wounds was an advantage they never hesitated to use.

It was routine- your mother’s burns from extinguishing fires, and your father’s bruises and cuts from working with heavy machinery. It was like a perfect system, allowing them to return to their jobs faster than most could manage. But each injury required an immense amount of energy from you to heal them, leaving you weaker and weaker. With every wound healed, you felt your body growing more frail, more tired until eventually, you just couldn’t do it anymore.

Whether your body was drained of its own powers or you just didn’t find it in you to help them anymore, you stopped healing them. At 14 years old, they kicked you out. The realization hit you hard, but at the time, it felt like a burden was lifted from your shoulders. And since then, for the last six years, you’ve been living alone in a dimly lit apartment that’s been funded by the black market’s supernatural committee, The Veil, attending school online and remaining disconnected from the world outside.

But now, even that little security was slipping away from you now. You were being kicked out now to make room for the next batch of supernatural kids that needed housing. So here you are now, getting ready for some gym training job at a place called “Dusk and Dawn,” you had applied to the other day, all under the table in the shadows of the black market.

There wasn’t much of an interview process, the email you had received simply stated your first day would involve being followed around by a staff member to observe your interactions with their clients. You didn’t have much official training under your belt, but years of learning self defense in your free time through a computer screen had to count for something, right? And you hoped your enhanced strength and speed would give you some sort of an edge when you finally set foot in the gym.

As night finally began to settle over the city, you left your cramped apartment, garbage sweeping across the sidewalk as you hastily made your way down an alleyway. It always took longer for you to get to where you wanted by choosing to take the back routes rather than the main roads, but it was a safety net you had no choice but to rely on whenever you went out. The shadows of the alleys felt safer anyways, more familiar to you than the brightly lit streets that crawled with government officials.

The city was always scarce at night, save for the few men in blue scouring the streets looking for the supernatural under the guise that they were just keeping watch over the neighborhood. When the supernatural first invaded the city of Luxta, it wasn’t a sudden flood, but more of a slow encroachment. At first, it had started with a few whispers, shadows fleeting in the night, rumors stretching across the city as the sightings became more and more frequent. It was never officially confirmed what they were, but the government responded swiftly, labeling the mysterious occurrences as nothing more than mere criminals lurking in the dark.

The men in blue- members of the government’s enforcement division- were sent out in droves after that, scouring the streets with their scanners and arresting the supernatural on site and thrown into a holding cell, subjected to years of testing and harsh interrogation. No one knew why your kind began populating Luxta; not the government, not you or the supernatural, but what you did know was that the black market had something to do with it- specifically The Veil.

You slow your pace down as you come across a dimly lit building which was squished between a post office and a laundromat. Its dirty windows obscure any view of the inside, and the only indicator that you’ve arrived at your destination is the flickering “Dusk and Dawn” sign hanging above the entrance. With a nervous breath, you push through the door, its rusty bell ringing above you.

Your eyes fall on the counter before you, its fading yellow paint peeling at the sides from years of wear and tear. Behind the counter sits a woman with long, sleek black hair and rectangular framed glasses that accentuate her sharp jawline. “Hello?” You call out, glancing around the small waiting room.

“And you are?” she asks, her tone flat with disinterest.

“I’m Y/n, I’m here for orientation as a new gym trainer?” you respond, walking closer to the counter. Up close, you notice she’s around your age, maybe a few years older with smooth skin and eyes that glisten despite the deadbeat tone she uses to address you with.

She gives you a nod, her expression slightly brightening, “Oh, okay. I’m Yuqi, I’ll be shadowing your orientation for today.” She slides off her stool, the wood creaking beneath her movements. “The sky’s beautiful tonight, isn’t it?”

Your mind hesitates as you recall the unspoken code for recognizing a fellow supernatural, “Yes, I love how it glimmers.”

Yuqi’s eyes narrow slightly before offering you a smile, flicking her tongue out, the forked tip darting out at you dangerously. You freeze, almost mesmerized by the way her tongue moves in an unsettling precision, like she’s sizing you up to catch you. “I’m a python,” she explains with a smirk. “You don’t know many supernatural, do you?”

You blink, shoulders slumping as you shake your head.

“Well, if things go your way today, you’ll be meeting a lot more supernatural beings here. Things can get… interesting.” she says, her eyes glinting with desire. “Usually, the staff gets used to it quickly.” She informs you, guiding you through a room filled with gym equipment. The two of you enter a dim hallway, a heavy iron door clad with locks and chains just at the end of it.

“So, how much do you know about your gym?”

“The ad only told me I’d be helping people work out, nothing more.”

Yuqi raises her eyebrow, reaching into her pocket for a key. The sound of weights clanging on the ground and low murmurs drift through the door, and an unfamiliar tension finds its way to your chest. “Don’t be alarmed, things are just different here,” she says calmly, unlocking the chains like it was second nature.

With a rough push with her shoulder, the door opens with a heavy click, revealing a space that was worlds apart from what you had just seen minutes ago. The polished floors gleam beneath you as you take a step forward, each area sectioned off with its own machinery and black puzzle piece rugs underneath it. Motivational posters were hung everywhere with sleek black frames and black plates adorned the walls near the benches and squat racks. It all felt so overwhelming, every machine you could imagine was in this gym, ready to use.

But the most striking feature of it all had to be the boxing ring that sat in the center, surrounded by a plethora of bleachers that looked like they had been spray painted black, giving the upscale gym a certain grittiness to the room. “Welcome to the Enha Arena.” Yuqi says, her voice filled with pride as she gestures to the space. Walking in further, she smiles as she watches you take in everything. “I know our ad said you’d be helping people work out, but that’s only a small part of your job.”

You whip around to look at her, brows furrowed in confusion. “What do you mean?”

“The Enha Arena is where the supernatural go to fight one another. We are an underground fight club, and if you can’t tell, this is extremely illegal.” Her voice is firm as she explains, “Your job is to spend one on one time with our gym members, ensuring that they learn how to use their abilities in a controlled, and effective way. They need to know how to master their powers. This isn’t just about fighting- but about protecting our identities, we can’t have our powers spinning out of control in public.”

Yuqi pauses for a moment to make sure you understand the gravity of your role, her tongue flicking forward to let out a subtle hiss. “You’ll also be responsible for assessing their current skills to make sure they’re working to their limits. It’s your job to make sure they’re ready to fight in the arena, physically and mentally.”

You lock eyes with her, the weight of her words sinking deeper in your stomach. “Wait, but I don’t understand the point of this whole, arena thing.”

“Most people that come to fight here have spent their whole lives in isolation. Many of them had a poor upbringing, and they come here to let that anger out. It’s the safest way for them to do so without risking their freedom to live in this society.” She looks around the arena to point to the few men that were training in the gym at the time, “In a place like this, they can be who they really are.”

You bite your bottom lip, a wave of unease blowing over you. “Go and walk up to one of our patrons. I’ll be right behind you.”

like he definitely has tried to talk to them, but hasn't discovered anything conclusive to definitively prove the existence of ghosts

sunoo is now asking questions

but the ouija board doesn't even move

but when you ask

"robert, how are you today? yes for good, and no for bad"

you and sunoo then introduce yourselves

again, when sunoo introduces himself nothing happens

the candle that's lit beside you goes out

and when you kiss sunoo the doors in the house start slamming and shit like SOMEONES MAD

except robert the ghost never respond to anything that sunoo says

later when ygs review the emf recorder it picks up robert the ghost whispering "i don't care 🙄"

robert the ghost is being sassy too

so sunoo literally just snaps the ouija board in half

"haha you can't talk anymore robert .😐."

yk how in buzzfeed unsolved they take turns staying in the haunted place alone with all the lights off

sunoo kicks everyone out so that he can have a "man to man" talk with robert

robert isn't a physical person but everyone swears they hear crying

jungwon has a whiteboard that he uses to explain things

esp like timelines

but in one of his videos he doesn't use the whiteboard so it's in the background

so you write a little message on it

its just a very simple
