Paper Love Part 2
Part 1
Florence slowly began to gain consciousness. It was black, pitch black for a while. She tried to open her eyes but they were stuck. She didn’t know where she was, but she felt herself being lifted into the air. As soon as she got moved, she stumbled backwards. The fact that she could still move around a little herself gave her comfort. Even though she still couldn’t open her eyes, Florence began to walk around, trying to figure out her surroundings. She held her hands out in front of her to try and feel out anything. She had only moved a couple paces when she touched something soft and squishy. Florence jumped back and banged into something behind her. It felt like a table. At the same time Florence jumped back, she heard a little yelp from something in front of her.
The thing lifting her up in the air stopped moving after one final abrupt movement. Florence stumbled forward again with the final movement and fell to her knees. Slowly, she stood up and tried to open her eyes again, this time finding that she could.
Once her eyes adjusted she took in her surroundings again, this time doing a better job. She was in an area that looked like the inside of a hollowed out tree. There were vines and mushrooms growing out of the walls. Lights were hanging from the ceiling, with ornamented dragonflies hanging from the ceiling next to them. There was a little kitchen area that had an odd mixture of fantasy styled nature and what seemed to be steampunk. Looking around the rest of the room she noticed that mostly everything was nature and steampunk themed. It was an oddly beautiful mix.
Florence’s gaze continued to roam around the room but stopped as her eyes landed on the most beautiful thing in this new strange area.
Sadie was standing on the other side of the room, making eye contact with Florence. Her lips were parted slightly and a blush had spread across her face as she started longingly and the gorgeous fairy.
Florence had never even heard Sadie’s voice before, she had never had the chance to hear it. Florence didn’t know much about the elf, but she didn’t care. For ages she had admired Sadie, longed for the day where she could hear her speak, and now here she was, only a few feet away.
Florence didn’t waste any time. Using her wings to proper her forward, she ran straight towards Sadie, her arms outstretched. Sadie didn’t startle back, but instead forward, her arms out in front of her as she grabbed Florence and pulled her close to her chest.
Florence sank into Sadie’s warmth and felt her body go weak as it relaxed from the pure joy of the moment. She might have fallen straight to her knees if Sadie’s strong arms hadn’t been holding her tight.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for this,” Sadie said quietly into Florence’s hair. Florence almost melted as she heard Sadie speak for the first time. Her voice was soft and sweet, something that the fairy could listen to on repeat all day. Hearing it made Florence feel that they had known each other for years, that they were just as close as two magnets. And in their own way, they were.
“Me too,” Florence replied, gripping Sadie a little harder.
They held each other for a couple minutes more, before Saide gripped Florence by the shoulders and pulled her back to get a better look at her face. Florence found herself falling in love with the small, sweet, genuine smile Sadie had on her face.
A quiet tune from guitar strings started to be heard. It was the same sweet melody that had been playing while Florence was relaxing on her mushroom. Sadie pulled Florence back into her arms and started swaying gently with the fairy to the music. Florence rested her head on Saide’s chest and closed her eyes, content with what was happening and loving every moment.

lighthearted.
if this comic resonated with you, please consider donating to this palestinian escape fund (vetted by @/nabulsi and @/el-shab-hussein) as it is less than $7,000 away from it's goal.
i turn 24 today. To celebrate, I made this comic to be a spiritual successor to lead balloon, a comic in which I talked about the darkest period of my life so far.
A lot has changed since my 23rd birthday and this one. My priorities have shifted a lot, in ways that I think are mostly good. But i think the best part about today is that suicide has gone back to being a far away notion. I'm really lucky, and I'm grateful for that.

[Rezension] Nikola Hotel: »Ever - Wann immer du mich berührst«
https://yurelias-buecherecke.blogspot.com/2023/10/rezension-nikola-hotel-ever-wann-immer.html
Seichte, unterhaltsame Liebesgeschichte, die mich nicht vom Hocker haute, aber mich kurzzeitig aus der Leseflaute holte und meinen Kopf gut vom Alltag befreite. Pageturner!

~ I celebrated the discovery of my own creative journaling style, last Sunday.
Inspired by Ana Jimenez , I wanted to include cute, minimalist illustrations, enjoy fussy-cutting them, play with memos (my favorites), include bits and pieces of handmade papers (sometimes soft, sometimes scratchy, I love their textures), and my weakness--- Avril yarns. :)
I wanted to include one positive quote or saying in each page too. So here’s Davi Nakadamaki’s spring illustration saying hello.~ 🌸🌸🌸

Paper Love: Part 1
Short story. Was going to be one part, ended up being two. Might possibly turn into three. I don't know.
Got a fairy and an elf. Lesbians. What more do I need to say.
Florence sat atop her toadstool, eyes closed and gently swaying to the music coming from the guitar strings. She didn’t know what song was being played, but she liked it. It was a sweet melody. It reminded her of her old, would-be partner. He was being created, but then the guitar player had gotten rid of him. He hadn’t been given a name. Sometimes, Florence liked to sit on her toadstool and imagine what it would be like if he had stayed. But over time, those thoughts had disappeared, as she lost interest in the man that didn’t exist. Other times, she liked to think about what it would be like if she could leave her mushroom and meet some of the other creatures she could see on the walls of the room. They would sometimes wave to one another, and sometimes do charades to try and communicate, but it never amounted to much.
But there was one sketch that she wanted to meet more than anyone else. She was a beautiful, pretty looking elf, with a steampunk design. She had a dark brown suit, with a thick belt around her waist, with a cog wheel belt buckle and a brown leather pouch at her side, decorated with dragonfly emblems. She had messy black hair tied up in an even messier bun and steampunk goggles resting on her head. In her hand, she was permanently holding a small top hat, with a dark red ribbon along the bottom of it, feathers sticking out from behind the ribbon and even more rusty cog wheels. Florence found her face a pure beauty, with gear stains smeared across her cheek, and her face lit up in a smile. The smile wasn’t permanent like her outfit and location, but it was still always there. Florence could see writing on the elf’s paper. It read “Sadie”, and had a curly arrow pointing to the woman. Florence guessed Sadie was the elf’s name.
Florence heard the guitar stop playing and glanced over to the human sitting on their bed. They carried their acoustic back over to the stand in the corner of the room and placed it down. They walked to the middle of the room and stood there for a second, before looking up at the wall that Florence’s paper hung, and then moving their attention to the opposite wall, where Sadie hung. They turned back to Florence and started to move towards her. Florence waved at them, but as usual, the human couldn’t see their sketch moving. The human took the paper from the wall, then took Sadie down as well.
Florence started to panic. Was she getting thrown out? She could see Sadie was freaking out as well. Florence watched, helpless as her crush started to hyperventilate. Oh, how she wished she could help.
The human placed both papers on their desk. Florence barely noticed the human taking their sketch book out, her attention was too focused on Saide, whose paper had been placed right next to hers. The elf had calmed down slightly after being placed on the desk, but her eyes still held a bit of panic. She only just seemed to notice Florence watching her, concern in her deep brown eyes. Florence smiled at Sadie, and Sadie calmed further, smiling back at Florence. Florence gestured at Sadie to step closer to her paper, and the elf moved to the very edge of her page. Florence did the same so they were standing as close together as they could.
Florence took in Sadie’s expertly drawn eyes, admiring the dark green with the lighter green highlights in them. The fear was now completely gone, replaced with a longing look of love. Florence suddenly realised the look was directed at her. For her. She felt blush creep across her face, increasing as an answering blush appeared on Sadies face, as she laughed slightly.
Florence started as her paper was picked up. Sadie was picked as well, and panic filled her eyes again. Florence tried to scream out to her, but being on separate papers, she knew the elf wouldn’t be able to hear her. Florence saw the human pick up a binder, and even more fear filled her as she was placed in it. She let out a yelp and jumped back when the metal teeth of the binder teared into the page.
Florence started to see black at the edge of her vision. The last thing she was before darkness overtook her was Sadie’s terrified face, wet tears running down her cheeks.
Part 2 ->
Hope you enjoyed it, feedback and suggestions are welcome.
Part 2 should be coming soon. Hopefully. Unless I half abonden it like all my other WIP's. Shouldn't happen though because this is just bassically a one-shot I'm writing. It's not something I'm gonna plan in advance like Silent Laughter or Massacre Masquerade.
I'm gonna do some character designs and drawing before part 2, and I'm gonna post them. I'll get started on them now.
