Using the fanfic "I can't be with you (I want to be with you)" by Torens on AO3 as a reference. Dragon is the one giving birth here, so trans!Dragon.

Also, I read Dragon’s wiki article and did my best to work around the timeline there. So things are a little different than in the canon timeline. Here Dragon is still working for the marines until the Revolutionary Army is stable enough to leave.

Canon Post Time Skip Ages:

Dragon - 55 (Birthdate: October 5 / 256cm = over 8ft)

Corazon - 39 (Birthdate: July 15 /9'7½ft ) 

(Corazon was 26 when he died - Google said Law was 13 at the time so:

26 - 13 = 13

26 + 13 = 39

Thus he would be around 39 if he was still alive in canon.)

Law - 26 (Birthdate: October 6)

Ace - 22 (Birthdate: January 1)

Sabo - 22 (Birthdate: March 20)

Luffy - 19 (Birthdate: May 5)

Bepo - 22 (Birthdate: November 20)

Shachi -  27 (Birthdate: April 7)

Penguin - 28 (Birthdate: April 25)

So in this AU, Corazon and Dragon have heard of each other before from their dads but never actually met each other in person. Corazon had probably heard Dragon’s name before from Sengoku or just through other marines. Dragon has probably never heard Corazon’s name before because Garp probably just calls him “Sengoku’s boy/brat” or something. So Dragon knows of him, just not his name.

Roger dies and then Ohara happens, so Dragon decides to start the Revolutionary Army. But while he is setting it up he stays with the marines until he can “safely” leave/the Revolutionary Army is stable enough for him to leave. Wiki says that Dragon formed the Revolutionary Army between Roger being executed (24 years before time skip) and Luffy (19) being born. It says that he became disillusioned with the marines after Ohara (it happened 22 years ago so he would have been 33).

Corazon’s birthday is July 15, so maybe they meet right after his 20th birthday and before Dragon’s 36th (his birthday is October 5th).

They meet in person for the first time and it’s just like:

“Oh! You're Dragon! I’ve heard of you!” - Corazon is excited to finally meet Dragon.

“Oh, Your [insert Garp’s nickname for Corazon here].” - Dragon, socially awkward and he doesn’t know who Corazon is due to Garp never saying his real name. Dragon is thinking: “Who the hell is this?”

They get to know each other. Maybe they talk about Roger dying, Ohara, Doflamingo, the marines, or whatever else. They become friends, but they don’t get any further than that. Dragon because he knows he’ll be leaving in a couple months and Corazon because… I don’t really know or have a solid reason. Maybe Dragon is just the one that's holding back. Maybe he thinks Corazon is kind and pretty, but Dragon thinks he is too old for him and he is leaving the marines soon anyway.

Oh wait, Corazon was a Celestial Dragon! Maybe that's his reason for being all nervous! He thinks Dragon won’t like him if he finds out!

Anyways, something happens and they conceive Luffy in a coat closet or something. A near death experience is always a good option or a drunken incident perhaps? Maybe this happens a couple times and Luffy isn’t conceived the first time in the coat closet. Anyways, they get a couple of months to do this before Dragon leaves the marines to run the Revolutionary Army full time.

Luffy is born on May 5th the year after they meet, so he would have to have been conceived sometime in like August or September. Or if he was born premature, anytime in November to December at the latest. (This being based on pregnancy lasting 9 months and that babies can survive being born safely, at the absolute earliest, at 6 months of pregnancy. Sorry if I did the math wrong, I just counted backwards from May.)

Luffy being born premature could explain why he is so small compared to Dragon (256cm = over 8ft) and Corazon (9'7½ft ). Or he could’ve gotten the average height gene from Dragon’s nonexistent mother.

Maybe Garp is trans too? Roger could be Dragon’s other dad if you want to make the plot even more convoluted. 🤷

Luffy being tiny could be why Dragon didn’t know he was pregnant. Due to his size and Luffy’s size in comparison, he probably didn’t show at all. He most likely just wrote off any sickness he felt to be a cold/flu, stress, or guilt of leaving the marines/family/friends behind. Basically, he doesn’t find out until either he gives birth or if/when he asks Ivankov to fully transition him.

Anyways, Dragon leaves and they're both sad. Maybe Corazon doesn’t know why Dragon left until he sees Dragon’s wanted poster. Maybe Dragon hinted about why he was leaving or left a note behind. He probably left a note for Garp. Which Garp would probably rant about to Sengoku, who would then rant about it to Corazon or Corazon overheard a conversation about it.

So Dragon gives birth to Luffy and he contacts Garp. Maybe Garp is hanging out with Sengoku and Corazon is within hearing range. Garp, Sengoku, and Corazon go to meet up with Dragon. Garp and Sengoku know that Dragon and Corazon were at least friends before he left, but they don’t know how close. So they think he’s just coming to see his friend that he misses. Maybe they find out on the way there. Conversation between Sengoku and Corazon on the way could be:

“Please tell me you didn’t sleep with the head of the Revolutionary Army!?” - Sengoku, exasperated. 

“He wasn’t the head of the Revolutionary Army when we were together. At least not to my knowledge.” - Corazon

So they all meet up, it’s emotional, everybody finds out about Luffy. Maybe Dragon and Corazon talk about their feelings (or not yet - depends on if you like slow burn or not - I think they would at least have to have a conversation about everything/take things slow).

Anyways, they come to some sort of agreement where Luffy stays on Dawn Island because it’s a safe spot Dragon can raise Luffy. Sometimes he has to leave for revolutionary business and Luffy gets babysat by Dadan or Makino if Corazon is not there.

Side Note:

Maybe Garp gave Ace to Dragon (Ace could go by Monkey D. in this AU for safety) instead of Dadan because Garp was pushy about the marines, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was also pushy about Dragon giving him grandkids.

Garp is like: “Here’s a newborn for you to raise son because it’s not like you're making any! You're already 33, you’re gonna die alone before you get married and have any kids yourself! >:D”

So Ace is already there on Dawn Island in the Monkey D. house being raised by Dragon for like the past 3 years or so. Maybe Ace traveled with Dragon when he was still with the marines and it was safe to do so. This would also put off suspicion of who Ace’s parents are because, again, Dragon is just over 8ft and could easily hide a pregnancy.

Also, there's probably not many people that are close enough to him to know if he is trans (depending on when he started transitioning) or knew if he had a wife. They could easily just say that he did, but she passed away and that’s why he has Ace.

Or maybe Garp was telling Dragon about his plans for Ace and Dragon stepped in offering to raise Ace due to having Garp as a parent. Dragon is just thinking about the many different ways that Garp could kill that kid with his questionable “parenting” methods.

This could also maybe be what brought Corazon and Dragon closer in the first place. Like Dragon might seem a little scary and unapproachable, but then Ace is there being held by him and Corazon is just like: “Ooh, hot single dil- I mean dad!”

Corazon could have watched Ace for Dragon if he was busy with marine business and that’s how they got close.

So let’s say that is the case. That Dragon has already been raising Ace and Dadan is like the cool aunt that babysits when Dragon has to be away/Dragon can’t bring Ace with him.

So Corazon and Dragon are raising Luffy and Ace together. Maybe they are officially together or for the people who like slow burn again, they are getting there, slowly but surely.

Meanwhile, Sengoku is going gray fast because not only is Corazon involved with a criminal, it’s GARP’s son. Like he thought Rosinante had better taste, why couldn’t he have been with a nice marine? It could have been Bellemere or Smoker or hell he’d even take Kuzon if Corazon really is into older men! But no, he picked Garp’s CRIMINAL son! Now not only does Sengoku have to see Garp at work, they are in-laws now and he has to have family dinners with him! No offense to Dragon, Sengoku agrees that the marines have done terrible things, but he would’ve taken literally anyone else OTHER than Garp to have as an in-law. (Sengoku this could be worse, I could’ve made this Katacora and then you’d have Big Mom as an in-law, quit complaining. Just send Garp to the other side of the world for a little while.)

But hey, at least Sengoku has Ace and Luffy to spoil. So he does soften up a little because yay grandkids!

Eventually, Corazon goes on the mission to infiltrate Doflamingo’s group, he is 26 now. Maybe this is the time where Luffy meets Shanks. So it would be like a year earlier than canon but whatever. This would be perfect because both parents are away so it’s Ace and him being babysat by Makino or Dadan. So Luffy still stabs himself in the face, gets his devil fruit, and Shanks’ hat. Meanwhile Garp is at Marineford or somewhere else like: “‘My family wants to be pirates’ sense is tingling!” Sengoku is just looking at him thinking: “Is that Garp’s normal weird or something else?”

Maybe Garp won’t be as mad about Shanks because Corazon is a marine. So in his mind maybe Ace and Luffy will want to become marines too. (Sorry Garp, they ALL become pirates.😂)

Anyways, Corazon meets Law, decides to save him, gets Law his devil fruit, gets beat up by Vergo, and still gets shot by his brother but not enough to die. Like maybe Doflamingo is a bad shot and he was just able to shoot their dad accurately because he was right behind him. He still shot Corazon, but not in spots that would immediately kill him. Just slightly grazed him a bit and Corazon’s coat took most of the damage.

Dragon can be the one who comes and picks them up. Maybe Corazon called ahead of time to let him know what was going on and maybe he had a suspicion that Doflamingo had a spy in the marines so he called Dragon who could be in the area just in case things went bad.

Well, things went bad needless to say. So Corazon and Law get picked up by Dragon.

Side Note:

Maybe they stop at Swallow Island for supplies or something and Law meets Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo. He could also meet them later on too. Like he asks to be dropped off in the North Blue at 17 to start his pirate journey and meets them. I just think the idea of Corazon and Dragon having to raise 6 feral kids and Bepo is really funny. So I am going to say they do pick them up too.

Sabo meets Ace like in canon while the adults are away and everything with him happens just like in canon. Except, while Sabo is still very badly injured, he does not lose his memories. Like Dragon picks him up on his way back from rescuing Corazon and the kids. (We’ll say Corazon was gone for like a year: 6 months with Doflamingo - 6 months with Law. That gives plenty of time for the canon events to be squished into a timeline.)

Maybe Sengoku and Corazon decide to make it seem like Corazon did die so Doflamingo doesn’t come after him or Law. So Corazon either retires from the marines or he could just do paperwork from home or he could find something else to do. He also could be too injured to go back to active duty. I mean he did get beat up and shot multiple times. Either way, now he gets to stay with the kids full time or just doesn’t have to travel as much. Dadan and Makino still babysit from time to time. Dragon still visits as much as he can afford to without putting them in danger. Maybe after all the kids leave home, Corazon can join the Revolutionary Army.

Also, they do tell Ace about Roger and Rouge, but in a way that makes him not hate himself. Maybe he still feels a negative way about Roger, but not in a way that makes him think he isn’t loved or wanted. Maybe this is where he chooses to go by Monkey D. Ace or, continue to if he was already going by Monkey D. Ace since Dragon started raising him. That way he can distance himself from Roger and be slightly safer from the marines. Or he could decide to go by Portgas D. Ace when they tell him or when he sets out to sea.

So Law (+ Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo) go to the North Blue to start off their pirate journey when Law is 17. The Heart Pirates still meet Wolf, help him out, and get the Polar Tang. He still wants to take down Doflamingo but does it in a less self destructive way. Corazon and Dragon find out about his plans eventually and are worried, but they also trust Law to know what he can/can’t handle. Maybe Corazon goes to Dressrosa with Sabo to help.

Ace leaves when he turns 17 as well. Like in canon he forms the Spade Pirates and later joins up with Whitebeard.

Sabo joins the Revolutionary Army when he turns 17.

Luffy sets out at 17 and everything in canon happens until the Straw Hats meet Law + the Heart Pirates:

“Hey! It’s my brother Torao! :D” - Luffy all excited to see Law again after who knows how long. “Another one! How many brothers do you have!?” - Nami & Usopp probably. “Oh! Six! :D” - Luffy doesn’t elaborate further because it’s Luffy.

Then when Luffy sees Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo he is like: “My other brothers!”

Everybody’s probably really confused at this point. Like, the Straw Hats could see the resemblance with Ace in Alabasta, but these guys? Who are Luffy’s parents!?

Although having four brothers on one ship is pretty convenient for the Straw Hats because now the only sibling left to meet is Sabo.

Everything in canon from then on still happens, the Straw Hats all get sent away. [This also makes Robin the Straw Hat who knows all (I’m sure Sengoku calls/sends letters) of Luffy’s family members.]

Ace still gets captured and the higher ups still want him dead, but maybe Garp and Sengoku are trying to figure out how to stop it. If he is going by Monkey D. Ace the marines could just want him for being Dragon’s son or Blackbeard might have found out who Ace’s birth parents were and told the marines. Either way it’s a bad situation.

Marineford happens, but Ace lives. (This is a HAPPY AU! I don’t care how it happens, he just does!)

Maybe Garp was actually a decent Grandpa and was like: “He’s not Roger’s son! He’s my grandson, Dragon’s kid! Monkey D. Ace! Roger never had any kids, it was all just a rumor!” Akainu is just like: “Your son is the most wanted criminal in the world. We’re still gonna kill Ace.” Whitebeard could kill Akainu before he succumbed to his injuries or someone else could kill Akainu. I don’t know how, but I say Akainu dies in this AU. Then Ace, while still very much injured, was saved by Law along with Luffy and Jimbe.

Sabo can eat Akainu’s devil fruit in Dressrosa, that way he can still get fire powers. Or lava I should say. (Akainu’s ghost is shaking in hell watching his devil fruit being eaten and used by a revolutionary. 😂)

Side Note:

Speaking of Dressrosa, that arc is even funnier due to: 1) Doflamingo is being kicked around by his nephews not only because of his war crimes, but he also almost killed their dad that one time. 2) The Straw Hats (minus Robin) reaction to finding out Luffy’s other grandpa is Sengoku.

Maybe after this, Ace could join the Straw Hats or join the Revolutionary Army or stay with Marco (he would probably keep in touch with Marco regardless of where he goes).

I would say that Ace goes with Luffy, at least for a little while. Mostly due to the fact that Luffy goes to Wano and Ace told Yamato that he would come back. Maybe he could stay on Wano after that and help rebuild or something. Have his own kind of thing again/continue his own dream you know? He and Yamato could go on adventures together or something after Wano is stable.

hear me out, I have an idea about Reverse AA-AU where everything is somewhat similar, but characters are switched. It's kind of reversed DL-6. Gregory and Von Karma switch places, and Franziska takes Miles' place. Yet there's where I propose a somewhat interesting concept, mb?

What if instead of Miles and Franziska having their dynamic reversed, it was Eddie/Ray who wants to know which one of them "deserves the Edgeworth' name" More.

In this AU Miles becomes an attorney, and was tutored by his father. But before Miles, Gregory was a Eddie's/ Ray's teacher. Gregory was famous for his perfect defense and thorough belief in his clients. And now Eddie strives to be like this, and, much like his mentor, hasn't lost any cases this far.

This au might include Gregory forging evidence and this was found out during the case he and MVK were investigating. Though Manfred couldn't prove it fully in court, it has shaken Gregory's reputation and he was penalized (basically he couldn't do his job for a few weeks). This drove Greg to insanity which is why he shot MVK.

Basically, imagine how funny it would be if Edgeworth couldn't escape this petty competition in any universe.

As the evening was winding down, you noticed the warm smell of food. Thankfully the testing didn't last for long but it did leave you with a particular hunger and exhaustion. Naturally, that meant Malleus was hovering around you even as you tried to play a videogame with Ace and Deuce.

Both Goats were thrilled you were back and were happy to have the official title as your guards. They were already the envy of the other first years as your friends, but being your guards meant even upperclassmen treated them better. The two had been eager to be your guards and spend time with you, but had few chances outside of class.

Something about getting to spend their days and nights with you made them feel all the more connected to you. Doing homework with you, cracking jokes, and the delicious scent that continually drew them back to the kitchen. Even if it meant they had to be around the intimidating Dragon, it was worth it to be able to spend time with you.

"Hey, (Y/n), why don't we all sleep down here for the evening? We could invite Jack, and even that one Pomefiore kid Epel! He's a first year and is chosen for whenever Pomefiore guards you. It would be like one big study session!"

Deuce was smiling as he tracked the screen, the racing game the three of your were playing was entertaining enough to keep his attention. Ace- who had been actually good at the game from the start- was easily winning against you and Deuce. Even as he focused, he gave you that familiar grin as he once again won the match.

"It would give me more of you losers to win against!"

"... Losers, huh..? How about playing against a real pro?"

"Wha-?!"

Ace leaped from the couch as Idia seemed to materialize behind him, his blue hair sparking with a gentle red. There seemed to be a kind of anger in Idia's eyes and you were quick to offer him your controller as he took a seat between you and Ace. Deuce was quick to move out of the way as it seemed the Housewarden of Ignihyde was on a war path.

"Wait- I was just playing-!"

"Isn't that what we're doing right now? Just playing."

Idia's tone seemed flatter than usual and you were surprised to watch him lock in focus wise. Ace didn't stand a chance and Idia wasn't even gloating despite soundly beating the first-year.

"Sheesh, man! You didn't have to beat me that hard!"

"What? No 'good game'? No 'I was wrong'? Where'd all that bravado go now that you're playing against someone who actually knows what they're doing?"

A giggle from nearby drew your attention and you saw Ortho hovering there, Papa Hades smirking behind the younger Shinigami. They both seemed extremely amused by Idia's behavior and you couldn't help but feel humored as well. As shy and timid as Idia was, he knew videogames and he was not going to let Ace bully you and Deuce even on a simple racing game.

Idia had been the one to gently guide you through learning a bunch of new games with him when he guarded you last, and he had been very encouraging. Always encouraging you to keep trying and not blaming you for being new at the game. Now he was encountering someone who was dogging on you for being new at the game and not being very good at it. He had to fight for your honor.

"Idi-nii is always big into teaching humility to anyone trying to tease new gamers! And because it's you, (Y/n), he's not going to let teasing like that slide!"

Papa Hades chuckled softly and turned from ortho to you, an amused look on his face.

"Dinner is ready, everyone. Your Gnoll friend Ruggie has also arrived. I understand he gets double portions?"

"Yeah," you laughed gently, "he does. He had me promise him since I have been away."

"Understood."

Malleus, who had been a silent shadow around you, moved with your group into the kitchen where the others were waiting. You noticed that none of them had taken the chair-highchair combo that you typically shared with Grim. A kind of worry sparked in your brain when you noticed the kit was not present and Papa Hades noticed your concern.

"Worry not, Young Grim will return with Young Anastasi once he has been cleared to be alert enough to eat."

"So they decided on a pair?"

"Yes, I'm told the surgery went well. Young Grim will be flying again in no time, but he will likely want affection and a gentle hand, he will be tender after the attachment."

As if summoned by the elder Shinigami, Anastasi entered the room with Grim in her arms. His wings were wrapped so they remained closed, likely to give the webbing time to heal properly without stretching them too much. The kit seemed groggy but immediately held out his paws to you the moment he saw you. His impatient whining and mewling pulled at your heart strings as you quickly took the kit from the Shinigami's arms.

"Mama..!"

"I'm here, sweet boy. It's okay, I'm here."

You felt a certain level of anger that they didn't even ask your permission to go ahead with the surgery, nor did they let you be around for when he woke up. Despite your anger, logic told you that they likely moved ahead with the surgery to give him enough time with their supervision while his wings healed. Still, you had wanted to be there for the kit when he woke up, as he was likely scared, confused, and hurt.

"My wings hurt, Mama."

You looked up at Anasatsi with a frown, trying to keep your motherly anger at bay. Despite how you wanted to insist that she give him more pain medication, you didn't know what he already had in his system.

"When does he get another dose of pain management?"

"He can have more now with his food."

"Good."

You brought Grim to your seat and carefully sat down with him, doing what you could to avoid bumping his wings. Despite the highchair part being available, you felt like Grim needed more than a bit of time snuggling instead. He happily clung to your side and nuzzled into you, somewhat sniffing at the food in front of you.

"Grim, you need to take these."

"I don't like them."

"They make your wings stop hurting. That way you can rest easy."

"..."

"Will you take them if I wrap them up in some meat?"

The kit hesitantly took the meat and pills from you, quickly gulping the combination down so he wouldn't taste the medication. Even as the kit frowned in response, he still let you feed him and clung to your side affectionately. Malleus was about to sit next to you when someone else sat in the seat.

Sitting next to you was the Headmage of Night Raven College, Crowley. He stared at Malleus who seemed to consider violence before he begrudgingly sat down on the Crow's other side. Despite your frustration with the Headmage, he had become much more understanding and willing to let you speak for yourself.

Regardless, you focused more on Grim and feeding him, noticing how Crowley was also keen to give the kit food whenever you took a bite for yourself. It did make your task somewhat easier, though you knew Malleus was silently fuming and was likely to cuddle you while you rested in the nest later that evening.

Winding down for the evening, you sat holding Grim who was trying to doze on your lap. Having finished the homework you had been assigned, you figured you could take some time in the nest to comfort the little kit. He understood he was hurting to help his wings heal but that didn't mean that he had zero need for some gentle affection.

While you pet his forehead, a figure settled behind you. Dark wings stretching forward to rest around your body as Malleus rest his chin on your shoulder. The Dragon smiled affectionately at Grim who tried to return the smile only to wince when he moved one of his wings.

"Hurts..."

This seemed to upset Malleus who reached out a hand, green magic swirling around it and into the kit. Whatever kind of magic it was, it seemed to work wonders on Grim as he relaxed into your arms again, that look of pain disappearing from his little face. Malleus was at least trying to help Grim through the pain however he could.

"Thanks, Papa Tsuno..."

The kit purred gently and closed his eyes, unaware of the impact of his words on the Dragon that held the both of you. Malleus was thrilled to hear the kit call him Papa, likely a carry over behavior from calling Lord Hades 'Papa Hades' instead, but no less endearing to the Dragon. He had once disliked how much of your attention the Hellcat took, but he had grown attached to the little creature you loved so deeply.

How could he dislike such a sweet creature that looked to him for affection and that had so easily claimed your loyalty? As far as Malleus was aware, so long as Grim liked him, you would do the same. That was all he could ask for.

"(Y/n), Silver tells me Lilia fed from you again?"

"Yeah, he was starving and fell into my arms out in the hall. He couldn't even lift his head."

"To think Silver would allow Lilia to get to that state..."

"I don't think it was Silver's choice. I think it was Lilia refusing to drink from Silver or Sebek."

Malleus frowned at this, vaguely wondering what game the old Fae was playing by starving himself. He had never had issue with accepting blood from the two retainers in the past, he should still have no issue with it now. The Dragon made a mental note to speak with Lilia when he next had the chance about the behavior he was exhibiting.

Where he was willing to share his greatest treasure with his most trusted ally, the Bat's behavior was concerning.

"In any case, we should rest. You have had a fairly draining evening of testing and theories. Better you relax and burn off the blot you have absorbed."

"What about Sebek, Silver, and Lilia?"

"They will join us when they are ready to rest. For now, you should get some sleep."

You allowed the Dragon to settle in next to you, already in your sleep clothes for the evening. Grim had quickly fallen into slumber thanks to Malleus soothing the ache he felt and you were quick to join him. Even as Malleus sat awake above you, slowly continuing that gradual channeling of his Mana into you, he considered his options.

On one hand, he understood why Lilia would hold out for a taste of your blood again. On the other, he worried what game the elder Fae was playing at by starving himself. Regardless of which it was, the Dragon knew he would have to gently chide the Fae and stop him from harming himself in his attempts to get closer to you.

You awoke sometime late at night to a loud and desperate banging sound echoing throughout the room. The room was shrouded in a veil of darkness only broken up by the dim light of the moon. It seemed darker than you expected and you faintly thought it was the Human spirits before you realized how loud the sound actually was.

Your five nestmates- Malleus, Silver, Sebek, Lilia, and Grim- were also roused by the sudden and intense sound. Despite how you wanted to get up and see what was going on, Silver and Sebek both put out their arms to stop you. Malleus, who had been laying behind you with his wing over your body, snarled a deep percussive sound towards the window where the banging was originating.

On the other side of the window, sobbing his heart out and obviously dismayed, was Rook.

"-laisse-moi entrer! Please Mademoiselle Trickster!"

Lilia was frowning deeply, glancing to you hesitantly. You wanted to see what had Rook so upset. He was typically the calmest and most put together of the monsters and he was clearly quite loyal to you as he had pledged himself as a knight in your honor.

"Let me go to him."

Malleus seemed distressed and angered, but Lilia acted instead. The old Bat Fae hopped out of the nest and over to the window to let the distraught Drider in. It was vaguely disturbing how well the large Drider fit through the smaller window, his many legs folding to fit and force his form through. You managed to slide away from Malleus who hissed loudly as the two retainers let you through, still flanking your approach to the weeping Drider.

"Please-! I cannot- Non, I cannot do it-!"

"Rook," you cupped his cheek, his skin slick with tears in your palm, "take a breath. Tell me what's wrong."

"I'm sorry-! I'm sorry! I'm-!"

You pulled the Drider into your arms, holding his head with your hand. He accepted the physical affection quickly as he sobbed into your shoulder. It was unsettling to see the typically calm and cool hunter break down with such heavy sobs and pleads. What was more unsettling was the fact he was apologizing to you repeatedly, making you wonder just what it was he was apologizing for.

"Rook, what happened?"

"It's Roi du Poison! My Queen has lost his mind. Ever since Heartslabyul was named your guards he has been in a poisonous mood! He is convinced Overblotting will turn your gaze. He has asked me to gather ingredients for a wretched potion, one that will put both his life and your life at risk. I can't let that happen! I can't let him do that to either of you..!"

Shock ran through you as you listened to his confession, worried not only for him but now for Vil. To you, the Harpy always seemed so put together and composed. He seemed so calm compared to the others and keen to make sure you are comfortable and confident in the clothing he crafts for you.

"Vil is planning to Overblot?"

"Oui! Mais non, I cannot let him hurt himself or you! I simply refuse. You both mean more than the world to me, I cannot sit idly by and watch such a beauty destroy himself! I have failed as your knight for ever even allowing such a plan to be concocted! Forgive me for my betrayal, Mademoiselle Trickster."

"Where is he now?"

"He is brewing his toxin in Roi du Selkie's classroom. He sent me to retrieve the plants for his concoction but I cannot allow him to go through with it. Please... Help this me save Vil!"

her right hand is a reference to edgeworth's thinking sprite :)

you can see i almost gave her a jabot like edgeworth's but decided against it since the neck area was getting too cluttered

(which is why i switched the neck scarf around instead. its very iconic to her)

why edgeworth? because I am an "uncle miles -> papa" truther. aka narumitsu.

trucy's dress shirt is color picked from wright's aa5+ vest! her outfit overall is very inspired by his.

I considered taking away trucy's gloves but like her neck scarf, it's a part of her i cant take away

Apollo

was originally gonna just draw polly but it escalated quickly

went with valant's troupe gramarye long sleeve outfit bc I felt it suited apollo better

small little thing I noticed about the gramarye's is that thalassa's the only one without the neck flap things for the cape. so this is my slight little nod to trans apollo because i didnt want to draw the flaps. its a win-win

obvious ace of spades card is obvious turnabout trump reference. also phoenix's other cards

had to switch apollo's left hand to the front because the cape was in the way and i didnt wanna deal with cape physics/folding

I like to think that trucy got very inspired by wright once she got taken in by him and that kickstarted her desire to become a defense attorney early on. she wanted to help out as much as possible with income. she also doesn't like magic that much anymore because it reminds her of her bio dad, which is really upsetting. kristoph takes this as an opportunity to mentor her since phoenix really can't take her to help with his cases, so this is how she takes apollo's place. turnabout trump is her first case.

as for apollo, i have no idea how he gets to becoming a magician since im still confused by his multiple backstories!! too many ideas that contradict the story. uhhh, let's just say he gets the rights because somehow magnifi finds out about him (prob through thalassa before the shootem) and apollo gets the rights sent over to him as a kid (apollo doesnt really question it) and he just. never told zak or valant about it. so zak still thinks he has the rights to pass it down to trucy. but trucy didn't even pursue magic so it all worked out anyway? hooray!

oh yeah for sure!! I was considering that like, would he have even been able to finish a law degree while also wrangling a two-year-old? I was thinking maybe he'd become an art teacher for preschool or k-12. not that teachers are known for their high pay, but at least he'd have a more consistent salary and maybe even an employee discount for daycare services

Ah good question lets see... I think most of them start out having Yuu as the favorite because that's who raised him, but that changes after they finally get to meet their dad. For some of them anyway.

Bad timeline! Riddle Yutu is Yuu's little baby with massive daddy issues because it's hard to be a papa's boy when he's not around ;-;. Good timeline! Yutu is a Papa's boy, he wants Riddle's approval so so so badly, he's always bringing his tests home to be hung up on the fridge so he can be praised.

Trey

Yutu likes Yuu best, Yutres is a daddy's girl, and Yushi says she has no preference but her favorite parent is whichever one is going to give her permission to do what she wants at that particular moment.

Cater

Doesn't have a preference. He loves both of his parents equally and just wants them both to be together in the same house. He relates to his father heavily, but one of the things they have in common is how fun they find it to be around Yuu.

Ace

Ace! Yutu takes after his father in a lot of ways! One of those is that Yuu is his favorite person and everyone else is mid in comparison (he does love his dad too ofc he just enjoys getting under his skin.)

Deuce

Bad timeline! Yutu is very much a parent's boy but I think good timeline! Yutu is actually a grandma's boy. I can see Dilla spending a lot of time helping Yuu and Deuce out and she just screams that she would be a cool grandma. Hopefully Yutu also really likes eggs.

Leona

Daddy's boy. Leona! Yutu loves Yuu don't get it twisted but he wants to be like his dad so badly. There's just something about that grumpy lion that makes little kids ask "is this a role model?" and then not wait for an answer before trying to climb all over his back while he pretends to swat them off.

Ruggie

Bad timeline! Yutu is a parents boy, good timeline! Yutu has no preference. He loves both of you so much! His dad is so cool and Yuu are the best, how could he possibly pick which one of his parents is better?

Jack

Doesn't have a preference. He acts super aloof about it, like he's beyond the need for his parents but really he wants to make the two of you super proud with how self sufficient he is. It makes his tail wag really fast.

Parent's boy. He does mend a lot of his issues with his father in the good timeline, but he just likes being spoiled by Yuu no matter what timeline he's in.

Jade

As previously established the only form of authority Yutu respects is his parent, Yuu. He does get softer on his dad in the good timeline, but Yuu is still number one in his heart.

Floyd

Depends on his mood. Sometimes Yutu is a daddy's boy, other times he's yuu's baby. There's no real rhyme or reason to when or why, unless he's in serious trouble then he always goes to Floyd because he's at least got a 50/50 shot of leniency there.

You are both his favorite. His father is wonderful and so full of life and his parent loves him so much. He thinks you are both the most important, and gets very defensive about it.

Jamil

Good timeline! Yutu is a parent's boy as a baby but grows into a daddy's boy as he ages and comes into his own. He loves both of you so much it could be a burden under the wrong circumstances.

Daddy's boy. It runs in the family and Vil embraces it wholeheartedly. A part of him has always wanted this, he didn't think it was possible to be even more grateful for your love than he was but Yutu is such a gift he swears he's re-learned the meaning all over again.

Roland is the daddy's boy, and Yutu is the parent's boy. It makes Rook weep to wonder about what would happen if perhaps if you had a little girl? ( •̯́ ^ •̯̀) no? ( •̯́ ^ •̯̀) he just thinks that maybe it would be fun to see what would happen- (he is on his knees begging please please please he wants to be a girl dad so bad)

Epel

Parent's boy. He has an alliance with his dad though, it's super sweet to see them run up to you in the middle of the fields with apple blossoms they spent lunch picking to give you. Your boys love you very much.

Uncle's boy. He loves both of his parents equally but Ortho is easily his favorite person and can you really blame him? Idia doesn't he's really happy to see Ortho embraced by his son as part of the family.

Princess Tamago is daddy's little princess of course, but I think both of the kids like Yuu best. Malleus isn't jealous at all, no not at all say Yuu, he is your favorite right? Because you are his too and he was here first-

Silver is his favorite person, but Yuu is a close second. Lilia likes to fake cry about this because baby Yutu would get all offended and scream about how he was being silly because he loved him too! Ah yes but he's not Yutu's favorite oh woe is him.

Silver

Daddy's boy in theory, parent's boy in practice. He loves his dad but they're both a bit dense so connecting with each other can be difficult sometimes. It doesn't diminish the strength of their connection any, but it does cause some angst in those teen years.

Sebek

Parent's boy. Sebek Yutu thinks of Yuu the same way Sebek does Malleus, but he's much more normal about it as he gets older than Sebek ever was. (He does think his dad is cool but he doesn't want to admit it.)

Rollo

Parent's boy but Rollo is absolutely whipped for his child. Rollo isn't always the best at communicating his feelings, and he's very determined to not have the same thing happen to his child as happened to his brother. When Yutu looks up at him with his little eyes and calls him Papa... it melts him. He's very proud of him he's just not always as loud about it as Yutu might like.

What would be the Ace Attorney AU's version of the DL-6 incident/whole... situation (I forget what that turnabout is called lol)

(It's from turnabout goodbyes mainly, it gets passing mentions in other cases and games, but that's the only case that delves into it)

i mean, logically, if we're trying to ace attornify toh, caleb's death would make the most sense as an equivalent? His death sets a lot in motion in the show kinda like how Gregory's does in the games.

i mean either that or manny (i mean he dies from illness in the show but it's an au he could die from murder here if you wanted to)

or papa titan somehow? i mean it's kinda maybe implied the archivists killed him, you could probably ace attorney that somehow.

Murder trial for the death of the island you live on would be perfect in terms of silliness.

granted, i'm still fuzzy on details here on some parts, like am i establishing caleb as a prosecutor in this au or are caleb and philip still witch hunters who hate witches and philip just...becomes a prosecutor as well as ruler of a country? (Ga'ran vibes) Like i don't need to follow too strictly to one or another, like flap and waffles are both with hunter for example so I'm obviously not sticking exactly to toh canon.

there's some weird ways i could mash up these properties I'm still thinking about, though this is all for fun at the end of the day.

but yeah, knowing ace attorney, it'd be a long held cold case where we pin philip as his brother's killer and he turns into a beast for his breakdown or something XDD
