Since the pool reopened last June, our local YMCA has required members to schedule their lane time. Starting Monday, April 19, scheduling in advance is no longer necessary. In case you were wondering where I’ve been for the past week, I’ve been nursing a bum knee and trying my best to pretend like the election was not happening this week. Apparently I’m not the only one, because every time I signed up to go to the pool, it was full! I have been relegated to mostly non-cardio upper body activity for the past eight days. I finally got in this morning, and man am I out of swimming shape. Non-impact activity, was what I needed, though, to shake out these toxic feelings. It worked. I feel better. Now why don’t the rest of you give it a shot. Take a deep breath. Do a healthy activity to GENTLY increase your heart rate for 15-20 minutes. Take another deep breath. Repeat, until you start loving your neighbors.
