Delicious Cake

With the end of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, I've seen a tone of discourse about it’s climax. Now, I'm not here to talk about the shows politics as a whole. Personally, i didn’t have a problem with what they were trying to say, more with how they were saying it. I watched the first three seasons and the show was pretty bad. The writing was absolutely horrid. I could tell that this show was only green-lit on the merit of it’s politics, not it’s substance or narrative. We were living in a Post KorraSami, Steven Universe world so i understood. I wasn’t mad about that, i just found the writing to be so goddamn heavy-handed and pedestrian. That said, i absolutely adored this version of Catra.

Catra was the only character in that entire show who was an actual person. She had emotion. She had pathos. She grew. She changed. She was real. Scorpia maybe had moments, but the best aspect of the new She-Ra, hands down, was Catra. Imagine my non-surprise that she was actually in love with Adora the whole time. Look, that ship or reveal or whatever you ant to call it was so goddamn obvious, it hurt. It felt like bad fan fiction. That entire plot arc, the Catradora relationship or whatever, was Stephanie Meyers level of cringe. The whole show is written about as well as a Twilight novella and it really began to show toward he end there. I’m glad Catra got her happy ending, i just wish it would have been executed better. Interestingly enough, there is a very vocal part of the interwebs that hate everything about that ending, for all of the reasons they wanted it.

We are in a renaissance of visibility and representation across all forms of media. “OscarsSoWhite” has forced Hollywood to address the bland saltine-ness of most of their film and sh*t like Euphoria is killing it on the tele. I actually really like that show. It continues to demonstrate how dope Zendaya is at her job and the little Trans kid, Hunter Schafer, ain’t too shabby either. Hell, the Harley Quinn cartoon just had Harleen and her best girl, Pammy, lock lips all over that streaming shenanigan of a show. And yet, cats are upset about the type of visibility being presented. I’ve legit read articles about how "girl-girl is the laziest, safest, LBGTQ representation” there is. What do you want? Wold you prefer “Active and dangerous”? What the f*ck does that even mean? Another article tried to claim all of these shows fetishize lesbian relationships which are, in fact, extremely abusive? Really? The fairy tale, fan fic, cartoon for child aged girls, about a transforming Princess and her cute cat-girlfriend, is invalid because it didn’t end with one of them punching the other out for authenticity? Holy sh*t!

I don’t know what these people want. you scream about making Bubbline happen and when it does, you scoff. You yearn for HarleyPammy, you get just that, but it wasn’t how you wanted it executed, so it’s the worst. You want Catradora to happen, and then you attack the very premise of the entire relationship when you get it? This is the representation you all have been pining for. This is the visibility that you’ve been demanding for the last decade. It’s here. It’s prime time. It’s f*cking visible and successful, in spite of poor writing or corporate meddling. It’s resoundingly positive. Some of this sh*t is really well executed. I adored the Bubbline stuff, that was organic and beautiful. I hear the HarleyPammy thing was okay. I haven't seen that episode because i refuse to pay for whatever the DC streaming service is called. I’m ecstatic that Catra got her happy ending, even if it was poorly written and executed with the deft touch of a vertigo-afflicted, drunkard. This sh*t is progress. This sh*t is growth. This is exactly how we move forward. Cats can do more, diverse, representation now that these shows have taken those “lazy and safe” first steps. It’s like being given moist, chocolate, cake and getting mad it’s chocolate fudge even though you wanted German chocolate instead. They’re both chocolate cake, asshole! Rich and tasty. Shut the f*ck up and eat your cake, man. It’s delicious and you can always get the other flavor next time because the cake shop is finally thriving.

Oh look I dropped some fics.

I was going through my deleted text file bc I just deleted some text (as you do) from a WIP, and I discovered some old deleted scenes that I’m rather fond of. While they didn’t suit the stories they were in originally, I thought they might be good enough to post alone as ficlets.. So now those are up.

Deleted from “Path to Attolis” bc “Path to Attolis” was basically a ton of fragmented scenes taking place between Queen of Attolia and King of Attolia, and two of the scenes I’d written were too similar for them to both advance the plot. This is the one I rejected.

Jordan wondered how long it would take Daisy to get around to bringing Gatsby up, after the big mess. She finally did it in late May, when the summer was just about to return again and yet not quite there yet, and she and Jordan were once again standing on the porch looking out at the water.

Deleted from “The Merits of a Merger” bc “The Merits of a Merger” was basically a long fic about Jordan trying and failing to make her relationship with Nick work and this fic is a Jordan/Daisy scene. Lovely, but it was going to be the ending of “The Merits of a Merger”, and I realized at the last second that it would basically change the entire direction of the fic. But I still think it’s a good scene, so here it is.

It has been months since Jordan last made this mistake with Daisy. But it’s long past midnight and Tom and Pammy are in bed and Daisy is sitting so close to her on the couch and even if her mind shuts those memories away, her body remembers. And it's waiting.

Cut from “I’d Own You if I Could” bc even tho it was perfectly suitable, it was a scene of smut and I had never actually posted a femslash OR slash fic before and honestly I was already nervous enough without going this hard.

Tanushree 'Tanu' Khurana and Rishi Singh Bedi are childhood friends living in Patiala, just like their respective fathers Veerendra and Raj. Katyani Bai, a Kali devotee and priestess prophesies that Rishi and Tanu will be together for their next seven births. They are separated after Rishi's mother Rano, who dislikes Tanu, forces Raj to move to America with their entire family.

Tanu desperately waits to reunite with Rishi who returns to India. Veerendra and his wife Sharda are killed in a terrorist attack. Tanu's aunt Bani lies to Rishi's family that her own daughter Neha is Tanu. His alliance is fixed with Neha while Tanu gets engaged to the Jalandhar-based Pawan Malhotra.

Rishi slowly develops a soft corner for Tanu. After many circumstances, he learns about Tanu's identity. She realises her love for Rishi and they marry. To save him from being shot to death by Neha's boyfriend Sandeep, Tanu sacrifices herself and dies sadly. Her spirit appears in front of a shattered Rishi and tells him that she will return for him.

Tanu reincarnates as Sandy's niece Tanuja Sikand and lives in a village near Amritsar. Rishi is now heartless and has lost his faith in love, having turned into a successful business tycoon. His grandmother Preeti develops a bond with Tanuja. Tanu's sister Ahana has married Rishi's brother Manpreet, and they have two children. Sandy reveals to Tanuja that he shot Tanu to death.

Fire breaks out because of a short circuit and Rishi and Tanuja are injured. Tanuja's face is badly burnt in the accident while saving Rishi. Xampp and wamp. Preeti mistakenly gives Tanu's photo to the doctor for plastic surgery. Tanuja gets Tanu's face, and comes to know about the same. She is shocked.

Rishi accuses Tanuja of purposely changing her face, and throws her out of the Bedi house. Rishi's friend Malaika arrives from America. He agrees to marry her. As Raj sees Malaika with her boyfriend Shekhar on wedding day, he asks Tanuja to become Rishi's bride and they marry.

It was Shekhar and Malaika's plan to ruin Rishi's company because he was Rishi's business rival. Closeness increases between Rishi and Tanuja. Gradually, Rishi starts to fall for Tanuja when their misunderstanding is cleared. Malaika is exposed, and thrown out of the house. Rishi and Tanuja consummate their marriage.

After some other twists, Katyani tells Tanuja that she is unlucky for Rishi. Tanuja demands divorce from Rishi thinking she is unlucky for him; both sign divorce papers. His half-brother Poorab Bohra demands 51% of the shares of his company to exact revenge on Raj. Knowing Poorab's intentions, Tanuja arranges for the property to be signed over to her with the help of Raj and Preeti.

Rishi gets engaged for marriage to Rano's friend's daughter Netra, to make Tanuja jealous. As he forces, she signs the property over to the Bedis. Tanuja leaves. Rishi goes to stop her at the railway station, but as she declines to return, he slaps her in anger during the argument and she finally sits in the train before realising she is pregnant with his child.

Rishi and Netra also pretend to be married and have been raising Tanya, the daughter of Ahana and Manpreet's daughter Smiley. Natasha and Tanya assume Abhishek and Rishi to be their respective fathers.

Abhishek reaches India with Tanuja and Natasha to take over Rishi's company. Rishi meets Natasha at the airport, unaware that she is his daughter, and develops a special bond with Natasha who enrols in Tanya's school. Abhishek and Rishi become business partners. Abhishek invites Rishi, Netra and Tanya to dinner where Rishi meets Tanuja.

Rishi is disheartened to learn that Tanuja is Abhishek's wife (in real fake) and has a daughter, and tries to get her back in his life. He tries to make Tanuja remember their past. Netra discovers that Tanuja is just Abhishek's caretaker and friend not wife. She reads Natasha's birth certificate and learns that Rishi is her biological father.

Rishi, after seeing Abhishek's love for Natasha, decides to leave Tanuja's life. Rishi finally learns that Natasha is his daughter indeed. He informs his family that he is Natasha's father. Abhishek, who has fallen in love with Tanuja, learns of her past with Rishi. Rano sends a legal notice for Natasha's custody.

During the custody case, Rishi learns that Tanuja is Abhishek's caretaker. Abhishek proposes Tanuja who earlier refuses but later insists that he marry her to obtain Natasha's custody. Rishi creates problems in the wedding. He decides to marry Netra to obtain Natasha's custody. Tanuja learns that Rishi and Netra aren't married and assumes that they instead have a live-in relationship.

Realising his love for Tanuja, Rishi leaves Netra and stops Tanuja's marriage, reasoning that their divorce application was rejected years ago. Abhishek accuses Tanuja of cheating on him. Tanuja reveals to Natasha that Rishi is her father. Natasha tells court judge that she wants to live with both her parents.

Tanuja is ordered to stay in the Bedi house for six months. Netra now vows to ruin Tanuja. Abhishek creates misunderstandings between Rishi and Tanuja to separate them. After many circumstances, Tanuja realizes her mistake as Rishi tells her the truth, and apologises to him. They reconcile. Jealous, Netra vows to kill Rishi and Tanuja.

Netra bribes a mechanic to tamper with the car brakes in which Rishi and Tanuja are. Abhishek finds her plan but is late to warn Tanuja. The car falls off a cliff and Abhishek takes them to the hospital. Netra is arrested. Tanuja dies in the hospital. Depressed, having lost Tanuja after Tanu, heartbroken Rishi kills himself with poison.

Rishi and Tanuja are reborn as Ranbir Kapoor and Kritika Kohli, respectively. Ranbir is a famous football player in (Canada) and Kritika lives with her mother Malini near (Ludhiana). Ranbir has blurry flashbacks of his past birth in his dreams.

Believing that her husband Arun died, Malini is shocked to see him on news and reaches Mumbai with Kritika to track him down. Ranbir also arrives in Mumbai with his family for a football match.

While Malini searches for Arun at a mall, a fire breaks out, with Kritika and Ranbir there. Kritika exits safely and Ranbir stays inside to help Malini, who is rushed to hospital.

Hospitalised, Malini tells her that Arun is alive and gives his address to Kritika and dies. Kritika learns that her father, Arun has married again to Parminder a.k.a. Pammi and has two daughters, Jiana and Ishani. Arun tells Pammi that Kritika is his niece as she enters the house and lives with them.

Later, Kritika meets Ranbir for first time and they have argument. When she is appointed as intern of an advocate Vikas Sharma. Ranbir's father Balraj becomes involved in a legal battle over custody of his mansion with its caretaker Aayush Batra. Vikas is Ayush Batra's lawyer.

Kritika is harassed by a local contractor Ashok but Ranbir saves her. Jiana (Kritika's half-sister) and Akshay (Ranbir's cousin) fall in love. Ranbir develops feelings for Kritika and they become friends.

Aayush's daughter Malishka drugs and tries to seduce Ranbir. As he rejects her, she frames him for molesting her and files a case. Ranbir is arrested by police but Akshay bails him out.

Eventually, Ranbir wins the case with Kritika's help. Malishka tries to kill his family by burning down the house. Ranbir expresses his love to Kritika but gets unconscious after a pillar falls.

Kritika recalls her previous lives and awakens Ranbir to remind him, who also recognises her and they hug each other and unite, ending the series.

Story 1: Justinian - Part 1

Five years pass, the kids we know are now in high school. From the Neo Squid Sisters, Camille and Nebula, to agents like Telemachus and Justinian, they've been getting word about special prom.

Agent 7, the head of the Alexandria City District of Inkopolis and Principal of Odysseus Academy, has agreed with the principal and school board that they should merge their prom events. They settled with having the prom take place in Inkopolis Plaza with a classic Splatfest theme. Agent 7 pitched in to pay for the prom along with his sister, Pammy, and a few other citizens of Inkopols, including the Squidlys and the Inktrans.

Enter Justinian, a teen in the usual brown trenchcoat and red scarf, he was currently wearing a yellow polo shirt with beige jeans and brown vest. In addition to his attire are a gold pocket watch, a gold ring, and a ruby pendant. He still had a messy auburn ink hair, grayish brown eyes, and fair light skin.

Today, he was heading to Seaside Hill High. Classes ended early for him and he decided to meet with Nebula to ask her out to the Prom. When the bells ring, Camille and Nebula can be seen walking out, chatting about something. Camille reacted in disgust about something, probably the Prom, and then looked arrogant.

"...Besides, there's a race going on during the prom, and if there was someone that really wants to ask me out so badly, I'm still going to say no." Camille soon notices a familiar face. "I...... I'll talk to you later."

Camille gets into a personal race car and drives off to practice; a motorcyclist drives off, following Camille. Nebula shook her head.

Justinian took this opportunity to go and ask Nebula. After years of hanging out with Nebula and trying to show his affection, he feels like he hasn't won her heart yet. And despite Agent 7's warnings, Justinian is not going to let anyone take Nebula away. Agent 7 may have lost Marie to Blueshift, but that was the past. Besides this is the daughter of Marie and Blueshift that Agent 7 was talking about.

By the time Justinian was about to approach Nebula, a Humboldt squid approached Nebula. It was Emerald Inktran. He quickly hides behind the corner of a building. He takes a peak and hides again. He saw Nebula nod to something Emerald said.

Once Emerald left, Justinian runs over to Nebula.

"Hey, Nebula, wait up!" Justinian approaches her. "I came by to ask something."

"I'm all ears, what is it?" Nebula asked.

Justinian was already nervous; after seeing Emerald talk to Nebula, he fears Emerald has already asked her out. He took a deep breath and relaxed.

"Will you..... will you go to the prom with me?" Justinian holds her hand.

Nebula isn't that surprised, but she gave nod. There was a sign of hesitation that Justinian didn't notice.

"Yes... I will." Nebula smiled.

"That's great! It really means a lot to me... and I was worrying you're weren't going to say yes and--" Justinian is now interrupted by Nebula.

"Justinian, it's alright, I'll go to the prom with you," Nebula assured. Deep inside, she's going to regret it; she was also asked out by Emerald, and she accepted. She didn't let the situation bother her.

".....So where in the plaza do you want to meet during the prom?" Justinian asked.

"The balcony. You know, the one near the Neo Squid Sister studio?" Nebula suggested.

"Alright, see you there, Nebula!"

Justinian didn't even question what Nebula was doing with Emerald. They chatted for a bit until Nebula's ride was here. She had to be somewhere; as for Justinian, he runs off to prepare for the nightly prom.

Hours later, Nebula would be in her bedroom, in front of a mirror. She is wearing a special formal magenta gown with no shoulder straps with a pink sheer fabric over it with glitter. She turns off the lights and the dress has a unique feature: the dress became blue and black, and the glitter and sheer fabric turn the dress into a galaxy full of stars. All that was missing is an accessory for her hair. Instead of the Neo Squid Sister galaxy hairpin, she put on a red hairpin that her mother gave her.

After moments of making sure she's prepared, there was a knock on Nebula's bedroom door. Nebula turns the lights back on and she opens the door. Marie was there.

"Your ride is here, dear," Marie notified.

"Alright, Mom," Nebula grabs her purse and heads for the door.

"Stay safe, Nebula." Blueshift opens the door for her.

"I will." Once Nebula was outside, she turned to face her parents. "I love you, guys."

"We love you too, dear," Marie replied with a smile, "Enjoy the prom."

Nebula nods and walks over to the stair and to the parking lot where Camille and an inkling boy were waiting with a motorcycle and a sidecar that can carry two people.

The boy driving the motorcycle is Chaodis Diamachi, the Greek exchange student from Odysseus Academy. He was wearing a tuxedo with a gold apple badge. His tie was violet, and his buttons were tarnished silver. The look on his face was still the suspiciously innocent look; he still had that eye condition on his left eye, making look like his intimidating her and slightly cockeyed.

Camille was there, wearing her mother's fancy party gown; it was a lovely shade of black with a teal luster. She wore tarnished gold slip-on shoes with high heels, black gloves, gold spiked earrings, and a teal hairpin. This is the same attire her mother wore during Splatfest. Camille did not look happy wearing this to the prom.

"You look wonderful, Cammy!" Nebula complimented.

"My parents convinced me to go.... and Paccy too..." Camille folds her arms, sitting in the sidecar. "So what about you? Did Emmy ask you out?"

"Yeah.... but then there's Justinian," Nebula explained.

"Oh boy, he asked you out too?" Camille guessed.

"I just want to have a good night at the prom." Nebula enters the sidecar. "Let's head on our way, Chaodis."

"You Inkopolites sure have complicated webs of relationships, especially you, Nebula." Chaodis turn the ignition on and began escorting the Neo Squid Sisters to Inkopolis Plaza.

The Inkopolis Plaza hasn't changed in years, but it seems Splatfest has come to this very place the old squid would call Memory Lane. Stage trucks were parked in the plaza with a few musical bands from both Odysseus Academy and Seaside Hill High. Students from both educational institutions were mingling and enjoying the prom.

"You go on ahead and find Justinian and Emerald," Camille began, "Chad and I actually want to check something out."

"Just don't let things here at the prom get bitter." Chaodis then walks off with Camille.

The two inklings were going to try out the games that were set up; they were a bit lame, but the games did bring back a sense of excitement and competition. Nebula walks off to the balcony floor where there were windows for any fan to see the Neo Squid Sisters.

Justinian was there in a salmon-colored suit and vest over a yellow dress shirt (with white collar) and red neck tie. His hair was combed back and he looked like a typical inkling. The suit turns out to be a hand-me-down from his mentor, Agent 7. When he turned around to see Nebula, he was astonished by the starry galaxy theme that her dress has.

"Nebula... you look amazing," Justinian complimented. There was a faint blush on his face.

"That's very sweet of you, Justin." Nebula reminds herself in her head just to keep cool. "...Is it okay if I call you that?"

"I don't really mind, especially if it's from you." Justinian scratched the back of his head. "May I get you a drink? Maybe just water?" He was avoiding the accident of spilling fruit punch. "I'll go get drinks for both of us!" He runs off.

"Justin wait--" Justinian has already left; Nebula sighs. "Silly boy."

"Was that Justinian?" Emerald approached Nebula.

She is wearing a white prom gown with brown metallic ornaments and two topaz earrings that look like Moth antennae. She had two medallion ornaments on her shoulders to hold up a green cloak that looked like wings. Around her neck is a furry collar. She almost looked like a luna moth.

"It was, he was getting me a drink," Nebula explained, "......And your dress is very nice."

"I'm glad you like it, Nebby." Emerald gave a twirl and showed off her dress.

Soon music began to play and a clearing was made for a dance floor to be open to the prom. When Emerald offered Nebula a hand, Nebula hesitated, but she decided to take the offer to dance anyway.

Justinian was across from her, holding a cup of water and a can of soda. He dropped both of them on the floor as he watched Emerald take Nebula to the dance floor.

Preview: Future Plot: Project Titanomachy - Chapter 24

Agent 7, his family, Sea Angel Splatoon, Circe, Sandra Syer, and Kitzeh belong to me))

The Arowana Mall mission that started 7:00 PM was finally complete along with the mission in Kelp Dome. Argus Initiative have sent military personnel to contain the meteor fortresses in the two site.

Cell, Rasbel, Mercury, and Vix were sent back to Octo Valley with Kitzeh's protection. As for Camille she was sent back to Alexandria District to recover. Arowana Mall and the Kelp Dome are now restricted areas since battles that took palce there last night left massive damages. As for Celeste, Arsenic, and Hephaestus, they were still working on widdening the path from Mt. Olympus to Octo Valley.

Nebula, Justinian, and the equine pack were still in the Black Belly Skatepark, and there was no word from them since midnight. Hera and Sea Angel Splatoon, who were also at the skatepark, also didn't report back and were still there.

Ebisu First Care, Alexandria District - Inkopolis - 12:00 Midnight

Agent 7 checked on Camille who was still recovering from her exhaustion. Soon his wife, Circe, and his adopted daughter, Sandra, approached Agent 7. He didn't expect them to visit. Sandra was there to check on Camille, but Circe was there to chat with Agent 7.

Circe took Agent 7 to a hallway in the hospital to chat.

"Circe what is this all about?" Agent 7 asked.

"Jason I am worried about you... you haven't been spending time with either me or Sandra," Circe stated.

Agent 7 knew he's been away from his family that he has raised, but his executive and authoritative jobs made him really busy. Thus, his hasn't been visiting his wife and daughter than expected; the only exception were during the holidays, day-offs and vacations. And now that Circe is mentioning this to him, Agent 7 felt some guilt coming from that reminder. "I'm sorry, but I can't just leave during these times." Agent 7 holds her hands. "If I do, I'm deserting those defending this city."

"Jason..." Circe pouted a bit. "Please... I really miss you. Sandra misses you..." Circe looks down. "What if you died in the middle of battle?"

"I won't die, "Agent 7 assured, "But I have to continue this job--"

"Jason, this can't go on," Circe interrupted, "don't you love me?"

"...I do." Agent 7 gave a nod.

"And you would do anything for me, right?" Circe questioned.

"Yes," Agent 7 answered.

"Then at least spend more time with me...even in times like these," Circe begged.

"I wish I can, but this is really important, if I don't help--" Agent 7 was making excuses.

"Jason, just leave this to other!" Circe just wanted Agent 7 to be with her and their adopted daughter. "You can just be there during desperate times and expect an opportunity."

"What opportunity?" Agent 7 asked.

"You know what I'm talking about! You're just helping people at this times to show you're still a hero in this city!" Circe shouted.

"That's not what I'm doing," Agent 7 argued.

"Oh cut the carp, Jason! All the things you did was for being hero that you were back then!" Circe tears up. "Look at what you've done so far, and look how much you succeeded! Isn't that enough?"

Agent 7 can remember most of those time he saved Inkopolis and parts of the world. And there has been some times he's gone overboard with some of his deeds. Even though his friends and allies left, Agent 7 tried to continue the generations of heroes and agents. It was only when Marie raised a family with Blueshift where his legacy started to tarnish from grief and despair. He didn't want to remember the Achilles's Heel that drastically affected him. In the end, so many people he knew or met were still there, and they pulled him out of the darkness.

Agent 7 stared at Circe who was about to cry. He soon held her close.

"You have to understand that I can't leave all this... but for your sake... I..... I will spend time with you and Sandra... as a family," Agent 7 promised.

"You will?" Circe looks into his eyes.

"Heck, I'll invite Pammy, her daughter Daisy, my mom, your son Narses, and my other children." Agent 7 wanted to make up for lost time.

"...At least we're together as a family." Circe smiled.

Agent 7 and Circe embrace and kiss.

A Summary of My Fics in 2018

I found this post lying around and apparently I forgot to post it two weeks ago at the New Year’s when I first made it, so. Here’s a list of the fics I wrote in 2018, with some musings etc.

** = Personal favorite.

Animorphs

on a night like this one (1952 words)--A Cassie/Rachel fic written for the Smut Exchange in April, so not a whole lot of plot! I was inspired by a prompt asking for Cassie as the gentle dom, which seemed like such an interesting concept.

falcon falcon, burning bright (2264 words)--Written for Bad Things Happen Bingo in June, a fic about Visser Three capturing Jake. The square I wrote it for was “The Collector”.

Whales and Dolphins and Humans and Yeerks (1416 words)--A Cassie/Aftran fic. Written on one of those probably-too-frequent occasions I opened for femslash prompts. I’d kind of always wanted to write some Caftran? But never got around to it bc I have too many damn fandoms. (...fandamns.)

Avatar: The Last Airbender

...wow, I wrote six fics for this fandom this year. Guess it was more of an ATLA year than I thought.

Largely bc of keircatenation, btw, who sent me a couple very nice prompts.

Kyoshi Wood (This Bird Has Flown) (1726 words)--Dysfunctional Tyzula fic, the first ATLA fic I have ever posted on AO3 (...though I have in the past posted a number on ff.net). Written because I listened to the song “Norwegian Wood” and instantly thought, “Welp, that’s a Tyzula vibe.” The first ATLA fic I wrote this year and it was already July...guess my ATLA content has been all in the past five months.

** every feudal lord needs a loyal handmaiden (13883 words)--Moooore Tyzula! This fic was for the Femslash After Dark Exchange in July which should make it more smutty than it is! But I figure the mature rating is justified by the various dark goings-on. Anyways, this is basically me writing the political intrigue Tyzula fic of my dreams, which is how it got so damn long. I’m quite happy with it.

a snow fight (1660 words)--...and I’m not happy with this one! I was prompted “No holds barred beatdown” for Zuko in Bad Things Happen Bingo and I tried my best but I think I just wasn’t in the right headspace. Came out kind of eh.

changing, losing, staying (3906 words)--Written when I opened for femslash prompts and received the prompt "'I can't afford to lose you too' + Suki/Ty Lee". Postcanon, pretty chill, longer than I expected it to be by the time I was done.

** because it would be a waste (1891 words)--Brief Azutara fic for the prompt of "Azula/Katara, set in a Bad Future AU where Azula is Fire Lord and Katara is her Favorite Prisoner." Written in November.

A Diplomatic Mission and Its Results (2483 words)--I was prompted diplomacy and Suki/Sokka/Toph for some poly event and I did my best! Never really thought about this ship before.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine (TV)

** Mhaacta Made Them Do It (3631 words)--Amy/Rosa treat for the Femslash After Dark Exchange, featuring ritual sex and an ELDRITCH ABOMINATION. ...technically a case fic.

Caper Court - Caro Fraser

the pupil of dover court (1543 words)-- I found this book series thru the Yuletide Exchange but only had time (...well, access, really) to read the first book. But I quite liked it and wrote a treat for the person requesting it for the exchange.

Catherine (Web Series)

there's something about catherine (1299 words)-- Another fandom I found through the Yuletide Exchange! This requester wanted some Lynchian Normcore femslash so I did my best to provide. Very easy fandom to get into, btw, webseries is less than an hour long.

Disney

** Amor Vincit Omnia (3231 words)--Maleficent/Philip Stockholm Syndrome fic, written as a treat for the Chocolate Box Exchange.

No one will hurt you (1166 words)--Inspired by a short comic by @disneyfemslashcomics, a Mulan/Jasmine fic featuring hurt/comfort and a nonbinary Mulan.

** # Old and stolen texts (2635 words)--A Belleficent fic I wrote bc idk I like Maleficent and I like Belle and the two seemed like a good ship for Stockholm Syndrome and, obviously, beauty and the beast scenarios. Quite proud of this one :)

Dollhouse

I wrote five fics for this fandom this year but I still think I kind of cooled on it. For one thing, two of those fics were assigned for exchanges--for another, last year, with little to no incentive of that kind, I wrote seven. Still had a good time this year tho.

Also, all of them were pretty dark! We’re not surprised.

** i'll take your mind (to kick around as a toy) (3095 words)--Adelle/Echo fic written for the Trope Bingo Challenge, for a square of “in another man’s shoes”. Longer than I had remembered!

Orientation (3881 words)--Possibly my darkest fic of the year, but I’m sure it’s debatable. Blatant rape/non-con between Bennett Halverson and Caroline Farrell, written for the Nonconathon Exchange.

taking turns (2008 words)--Lighter in the sense that it’s melancholy rather than dark as hell. A Claire and Topher fic written for the Remix Revival event, remixing a fic I greatly enjoyed.

# january to december, do you want to be a member? (1338 words)--Adelle/Echo fic where Adelle uses Echo as a doll. Kind of a filler fic, I’d always wanted to play with the idea but couldn’t get super into it. Ehh.

# someone to watch over me (1217 words)--Claire-centered fic with not a whole ton of plot. Again, kind of a filler fic. This is one reason I have to say I was not so into this fandom this year--2/5 fics being filler isn’t a great ratio.

Egil Saga - Faun (Music Video)

No man shall scratch runes. (1273 words)--Written as a treat for the Yuletide Exchange. H/C and some very basic worldbuilding for a weird, surreal music video. Not much else to say. Debatably femslash.

Flesh and Bone (TV)

Danseuse and Partner (1172 words)-- I got paired with someone for the Chocolate Box Exchange who requested soft and fluffy fic for Cassie/Jake, but at that time I had no fluffy Animorph feelings so I binge-watched this miniseries so I could fill their other request, which was domestic, relatively functional incest fic. Idk if I succeeded, it was an interesting prompt but I didn’t ship it. I was more vibing with the series’ femslash potential. But I never got around to writing for that.

Gattaca (1997)

Gattaca fandom, I swear I still love you! I’m just less depressed this year! Which, to be honest, IS A GOOD THING! but not very conducive to the kind of Gattaca fic I used to write lols.

** Peppermint and Vanilla (1492 words)--H/C Eugne & Vincent fic written when @trifoyle prompted me the title. I’m quite happy with it.

Of Physicists and Janitors (35780 words)-- I only wrote like a chapter of this in 2018. God. I really need to finish this. Also AO3 thinks I wrote the whole thing this year which just is not true.

Allergies (2374 words)-- Fic I started like two years ago and only finished now. Mostly Vincent-centric. Again, inspired by conversation with @trifoyle

The Pink Streak (1644 words)-- Wendy/Pacifica fic written as a treat for the Chocolate Box Exchange.

Grease (1978)

beauty queen, my best girl (1018 words)-- Frenchy/Sandy fic, written as a treat for the Chocolate Box Exchange.

Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald

** A Mistress's Mistress (2178 words)-- Jordan/Myrtle fic written as a treat for the Chocolate Box Exchange. Because Myrtle deserves better, okay?

** Santa Barbara (2691 words)-- Pre-canon Jordan/Daisy fic written for a prompt of "Jordan manipulating Daisy (and Daisy kind of going along with it)." Probably my favorite Jordaisy fic I’ve written to date.

Careless Wanderers (2380 words)-- Post-canon Jordan/Daisy fic written for Trope Bingo for the “Road Trip” square.

White Lies of a Colored Past (1820 words)-- About two years ago I wrote down the idea of Gatsby incorporating Nick into his shady, multiple-choice backstory. And then this year I finally wrote it. ...probably would have been better two years ago but I don’t not like it.

** for children's consumption (3143 words)-- Someone prompted me Nick Carraway and abuse/neglect for Bad Things Happen Bingo, and I wrote this odd little gen fic drawing parallels between his past and Pammy’s present. I’m quite pleased with it.

the dawn of another summer (443 words)-- Fic found in a deleted text file. Jordaisy.

the kind of choices you make at midnight (436 words)-- Fic found in a deleted text file. Jordaisy.

Greek and Roman Mythology

Messenger of the Atreides (2035 words)-- I wrote this as a pinch hit for the Chocolate Box Exchange. Shipping Odysseus/Achilles from the Iliad. The vaguest smut I ever did write.

Hannibal (TV)

** # A similar confusion (4036 words)--Weird Gideon & Will fic bc having watched Hannibal, I really just wanted someone to be nice to Will who wasn’t Hannibal bc oh geez.

Harlots (TV)

girl in black and white (451 words)-- Short little ficlet I wrote for fuckthegods for the TV Exchange. Fuckthegods left tumblr... I’m really sad.

There is no one higher (2300 words)-- Caroline/Charlotte fic, would be PWP if I went harder on the actual smut.
