Face Your Fears, Doctor Strange: NEW CHAPTER!
Chapter 12: Wait For Me To Come Home.
18+ smutty smut smut
Stephen Strange x Christine Palmer (early days)
Stephen joins the rest of his doctor friends on a work conference but the unfamiliar feeling of missing someone begins to flood his mind... Well, until he finds himself slipping into his old ways. Will he give in to the taunting of another woman or will the thought of Christine drag him away?
Snippet:
“Are your friends always that mean to you?” One of the girls asked, now stood at the side of him.
“Hm?” Stephen turned to face her, laughing awkwardly, “I didn't know you were listening.”
“It’s hard for my attention to not be on you.” She replied, biting her bottom lip for a moment before walking away with a flirtatious giggle.
“What is wrong with you, Strange?!” The doctor who was returning with the tray of shots exclaimed, “Why didn't you follow her?!”
Yes, why didn't you? The voice in his head asked him.
“Because…” Stephen shrugged, “I’ve barely spoken two words to her.”
“Like that has ever stopped you!” He cackled loudly, shaking his head.

Small Price to Pay
1.) Pepper & Tony never got back together after Civil War. 2.) Stephen & Christine had been in a relationship right before infinity war.
Alright then, let’s roll the fucking clip.
---
Thanos and his army had turned to dust.
They pulled Carol’s limp body into a gurney, taking her across the halls of the medical wing of Wakandan Royal Palace. She had wielded all the six infinity stones and survived. She was currently passed out with a badly burnt hand, but she would pull through.
Stephen’s gaze drifted to the rest of the team spread across the ER, getting help for each other. Some were more wounded than the others, but they were all alive, and perhaps that was what mattered the most.
His eyes stopped on a certain genius in red & gold suit, currently hugging Peter while fussing his hair up messily, murmuring quiet words into his ears that didn’t reach Stephen. He wanted to go near them, check them over for injuries. He wanted to hug them, drop a kiss on Tony’s chapped lips, hand a granola bar to Peter, and murmur, ‘We won. Everything is okay now.’ But his legs stayed firmly planted where he stood, unable to move.
He had no right.
He was nothing to Tony, nor to Peter.
In their eyes, he was just a random wizard whom they had teamed up with for a day.
Worse; he was the wizard who had ostracized this future for them; the one where the entire universe grieved the dusted for five whole years, some people painstakingly moving on, some staying stuck in the past, some.. deciding to join their lost loved ones.
So he watched from afar as Peter cried tears of relief into Tony’s shoulder, the genius patting his kid’s back in reassurance.
A portal opened into the hall, catching Stephen’s attention. On the other side of it stood Christine alongside Wong who had opened the portal for her. Stephen’s heart skipped a beat when he saw his lover after so long—
Except, Christine didn’t look back at him. Hadn’t even looked his way, her eyes firmly locked on Tony since the moment the portal had opened.
Stephen had known this, had seen this in the Time Stone, had prepared himself for seeing it in reality.
It still felt like the most painful punch to his gut when Christine crossed the portal and ran across to Tony, wrapping her hands around the genius who quickly loosened his grip on Peter to make space for her.
Even with the distance between them, Stephen could see Christine’s eyes having turned glinty with unshed tears, placing a palm on his face as she took in his state, just absorbed the fact that he was still alive. It was the same expression of relief he had seen on her face towards her when they were..
Before the day Bruce had crashed through the Sanctum roof.
Now, he saw the same expression on her face, projected not towards him, but towards yet another person Stephen loved dearly.
He watched, as the two people he loved the most in the world shared a kiss.
The leftover remnants of his heart shattered.
He should be happy. The war at last had ended, Thanos was no more, the universe would be at peace. His two loves would be able to rest, would find happiness in each other. They would have a family together and they would be happy.
Stephen wanted them to be happy. He should be happy for them.
But it stung. God it stung so bad, it felt as though his heart was being actively ripped out of his chest.
Not many yards away from him stood the two people he loved more than his own soul, and they were in love with each other, one not even knowing him beyond a superhero acquaintance, one having moved on from him in the past 5 years.
It stung.
She moved on, he hazily thought. He had known it since viewing this future in the Time Stone, of course he had known it. The foreknowledge did nothing at all to quell his anguish. She moved on from me and made a life with Tony.
It stung.
She turned away for a second to retrieve medical equipments, and then turned back to Tony. It was then then Stephen noticed the small bump on her belly. She was pregnant. They will have a child. They will have a family.
A family which had no place for Stephen.
He was standing in this ER where people moved about, doctors helping people, the Avengers holding onto each other, some being a metaphorical supportive pillar to their companion, some very much physically supporting the other. Whatever the case may be, everyone had someone.
Everyone except Stephen, who watched on as Christine treated all of Tony’s wounds by herself.
Never in his life had he felt lonelier than he did right at this moment.
Stephen closed his eyes, turning his back on them. He reached for the sling ring on his belt, sliding it into his fingers, ignoring the way they were sore and aching, and summoned a portal back to his Sanctum with barely half a thought.
Someone called out his name, the voice vaguely sounding like Christine’s. Or maybe she hadn’t. Maybe someone else had called him. Maybe no one had called him and he had just hallucinated the voice in his head. Whatever the case may be, it didn’t matter, because he was already through the portal and it instantly snapped shut behind him.
I already knew this, he told himself as he dragged himself towards his bedroom, his body seemingly growing heavier with each step, his chest screaming in anguish, his vision going blurry with unshed tears. It was the only way. The only way they could all be alive and the universe could be saved.
His body felt too weak to continue lifting his own weight. After only two more steps, his knees buckled. The Cloak caught him before he could have fallen on his knees and gently eased him down the rest of the way to the ground.
An ugly sob tore through his throat. His body shook as he pulled his knees to his chest, pressing himself against the wall and wrapping his arms around his legs. He weeped silently.
My heart is a small price to pay.

Christine!!
Imagine that Strange-616 realized that Sinister was alive, took him off that fence and dragged him through the portal to the hospital where Christine still works.

Also on ao3:
I just need someone too
Pairing: (minor) Doctor Strange Supreme/Christine Palmer
Doctor Strange Supreme & Uatu| The Watcher
Summary: The monsters' voices seized the opportunity, injecting doubt and self-loathing into his fractured psyche. "You're dangerous, a threat to all realities," they whispered malevolently. Stephen's hands shook as he vehemently denied their accusations, trying to drown their voices. “You don’t deserve anyone.” they jeered, a relentless chorus that fueled his internal chaos.

In the eerie confines of his pocket dimension, Doctor Strange Supreme grappled with the wailing of voices echoing through his mind. The melded creatures and demons within him clamored relentlessly, their collective whispers taunting his sanity. The Watcher had abandoned him, leaving Stephen to drown in the increasing discord. Their anger and whispers grew louder, drowning out any semblance of peace and every attempt to silence the creatures proved futile, their demands becoming more insistent. "Let us control you," they hissed, weaving a web of doubt around Stephen's fractured mind. The struggle within him intensified, a battle between the remnants of his humanity and the monstrous forces vying for dominance.
Desperation crept into Stephen's heart as he yearned for anyone’s guidance. Why did everyone leave him? His composure shattered like glass. Tears streamed down his face as he paced feverishly, the distorted echoes of his cries reverberating in the desolate pocket dimension. The twisted amalgamation of creatures and demons within him whispered louder, feeding on his unraveling sanity.
"I helped them, didn't I?" Stephen's voice cracked, choked with anguish. He clutched at his head, feeling the weight of a thousand creatures clawing at the recesses of his consciousness. The realization of his own mistakes bore down on him, leaving him teetering on the edge of madness. "Why didn't the Watcher ask if I wanted to go to another universe too?” he screamed into the void, the pocket dimension trembling in response. He knows he could easily get out, to another universe—but that wasn’t the point. “ Maybe I just needed someone to care!”
The monsters' voices seized the opportunity, injecting doubt and self-loathing into his fractured psyche. "You're dangerous, a threat to all realities," they whispered malevolently. Stephen's hands shook as he vehemently denied their accusations, trying to drown their voices. “You don’t deserve anyone.” they jeered, a relentless chorus that fueled his internal chaos.
"Monsters don't deserve care from people.
Each step he took felt like an eternity, the monsters' voices becoming a deafening roar drowning out reason. The remnants of his past deeds haunted him – the arrogance, the mistakes, the thirst for power. He was trapped in a never-ending loop of self-condemnation. "Why did I let this happen?" Stephen wailed, his voice a desperate plea for reprieve. The monsters reveled in his vulnerability, exploiting every crack in his fractured psyche. "You're alone because you deserve to be," they hissed, their words like venomous tendrils wrapping around his sanity. The once mighty sorcerer collapsed to his knees, the weight of his perceived monstrosity too much to bear.
"I—deserve care too, don't I?" he begged, a pitiful plea lost in the void. Do you really? Tears streaked down his face as he wrestled with the realization that he might truly be beyond redemption.
The monsters just mocked him, amplifying his deepest fears. "You thought you could play god, but you're just a wretched creature. No one will ever care for a monster like you!"
That’s not true—he isn’t a monster. He isn’t.
He heard a scoff and his desperate gaze fixed on the reflective surface of the pocket dimension's wall. Two versions of himself stared back, one consumed by despair and tears, the other stoic and unyielding. The juxtaposition ignited a furious spark within him. "Why aren't you crying?" he seethed at the composed version of himself. The stoic reflection regarded him with a cold detachment that only fueled Stephen's rage. "We're the same person! How can you look at me with such disgust?"
His fists collided with the reflective surface, the impact echoing through the pocket dimension. The wall cracked slightly, a bitter taste lingering on his tongue "How dare you judge me?" Stephen screamed at his own reflection, the air crackling with a volatile energy. The distorted image sneered back, a grotesque mockery of the sorcerer's own visage.
The cracked wall oozed with an otherworldly substance, and Stephen's widening eyes fixated on the unsettling sight of blood seeping through the fractures. Horror painted his expression as he recoiled, stumbling backward. The monsters' whispers escalated, celebrating the tangible evidence of his inner torment. Panicking, Stephen scrutinized his trembling hands, only to discover claws extended from his fingertips. He stared, aghast, at the cruel amalgamation of man and monster.
Stephen's tortured world suddenly shifted as a sweet, haunting giggle echoed through the pocket dimension. His bloodshot eyes darted around, seeking the source, until he reluctantly turned back to the cracked wall, now stained with his blood. There, amidst the grotesque reflection, stood Christine with an ethereal smile. The sight sent shivers down his spine as her voice, laced with a mixture of warmth and mockery, reached his ears. "Evening, handsome," she cooed, the words dripping with an unsettling sweetness. A pang of guilt and longing gripped Stephen's heart. "Christine, I'm so sorry," he stammered, the weight of his sins pressing upon him.
Christine's ethereal smile remained, a soothing balm "What are you even apologizing for, silly?" Her voice, a melodic whisper, echoed in the pocket dimension. Her spectral form seemed to glow with a warmth that Stephen desperately craved. The sorcerer, torn between reality and illusion, let out a breathy chuckle. His hand reached towards the wall, attempting to bridge the gap between them. Yet, as his fingers touched the surface, a disconcerting absence greeted him. The ethereal connection remained one-sided, his touch met with a vacant emptiness. “I... I don't know. Everything, I suppose," he admitted.
Christine's hand pressed against the wall too, a gesture that made Stephen’s heart jump. "I've missed you," she murmured, her gaze lingering on his haunted eyes. "I’ve missed you too" Stephen confessed, his gaze locked with Christine's phantom eyes. Her form flickered, a wistful sadness in her eyes. "I know, Stephen. But you have to let go. You can't keep punishing yourself," she implored, her words carrying a weight of wisdom from beyond.
"I just wanted for us... to be happy. Why weren't we allowed to be happy?" Stephen's voice wavered, carrying the ache of a love lost and a future denied. Christine's gaze softened, mirroring the ache in Stephen's heart. "I don't know," she whispered.
Stephen's hand, still pressed against the cold, cracked wall, yearned for a connection that transcended the boundaries of the spectral and the tangible. He spoke again, a plea tinged with desperation "I tried to fix everything, to save you, to save us.”Christine offered a sympathetic smile, her hand on the cold wall mirroring his desperate touch. "You can't control everything, Stephen."
"No—I can't," Stephen uttered, his admission heavy as Christine's eyes welled with tears and Stephen instinctively reached out to wipe it away. Yet, his hand didn’t passed through the ephemeral droplet, a painful reminder of the intangible nature of their connection. "You can't," Christine echoed, her voice carrying both acceptance and sorrow.
Unable to hold back his own emotions, Stephen closed his eyes, pressing his forehead against the cracked wall. The cold surface offered no comfort, only the stark reality of his fractured existence. Christine mirrored his gesture, sharing in the silent communion of grief and longing. "I just wish we could have at least had more time together," Stephen murmured, his voice a fragile whisper that resonated through the pocket dimension.
They stayed in silence for awhile until Stephen opened his eyes and called out for her. "Christine?" the echoes of his own voice bouncing off the walls of the pocket dimension. His eyes searched desperately for the spectral form that had briefly offered solace and understanding.
But she wasn't there anymore.
The pocket dimension seemed to close in on him, the air growing heavier as Stephen's breaths quickened. The absence of Christine left an emptiness that the monsters wasted no time exploiting. Their whispers, once momentarily hushed, returned with a vengeance, taunting him with the fragility of his connection to any semblance of peace.
Panic gripped his heart. "Christine! Please, don't leave me alone with them," he pleaded, desperation lacing his words.
As Stephen slid down against the unforgiving wall, the monsters' mocking whispers intensified, wrapping around him like a suffocating cloak. "Why are you so afraid?" they taunted, their voices a venomous chorus that echoed through the pocket dimension. "We are one and the same, Stephen. That's because of you." Clawed hands pressed against his temples as Stephen struggled to drown out their voices again. "You thought you could control us, mold us into something you could use. But look where it got you," they sneered, the shadows deepening around him.
Barely holding onto the fragments of his sanity, Stephen's voice trembled as he begged the monsters for respite. "Please—please stop," he pleaded, his words a desperate plea echoing through the distorted corridors of his mind. The monsters, however, reveled in his vulnerability, their whispers escalating into a malicious symphony. "Stop? Why should we stop, Stephen?" they taunted, their voices intertwining with a sadistic glee. "This is what you wanted, isn't it? Power beyond imagination. Accept it."
Stephen's hands shook as he pressed them against his ears, attempting to shut out the relentless onslaught of voices. "Make it stop!" he cried out, his voice raw with desperation. The monsters' laughter echoed through the twisted corridors of Stephen's mind, a malevolent crescendo that reverberated in the suffocating silence. "Our powers weren't meant for humans, Strange," they jeered, each syllable laced with a cruel certainty.
Stephen, weary and battered, felt the weight of his isolation crushing him. Nobody cared about him anymore. The people that did care—were gone now. Because of him.
"Come on, let us have control," they coaxed, their words a venomous lullaby tempting him to surrender. Overwhelmed and drained, Stephen succumbed to the monsters' insidious whispers. His resistance crumbled, and with a surrendering sigh, he let them seize complete control. As the monsters took hold, his human form shattered like fragile glass. Claws extended, horns twisted, wings unfurled, and fangs emerged – Stephen's essence transformed into a grotesque fusion of demons and creatures. The pocket dimension trembled as the once-mighty sorcerer relinquished the remnants of his humanity.
A demonic entity now stood in place of Stephen, a manifestation of the twisted power he had sought to command. The monsters, now in control, reveled in their newfound freedom. "Let's have fun," they hissed in unison, their collective voice a perverse harmony echoing through the distorted realm. The demon that was once Doctor Strange Supreme lurched forward, a malevolent force eager to unleash chaos upon the multiverse. The monsters' laughter echoed with a sadistic pleasure as they revelled in their newfound dominion, leaving behind the shattered fragments of the man who had once dared to tamper with powers beyond his grasp.

Notes: Not sure if I should make a part too for this since I think I left it on a decent ending? 😭 I love love love Supreme’s story, it’s so tragic and again, I think they could have had done more with his story. (Also, please be nice, English isn’t my mother tongue)

My PalmerStrange besties are so gonna get this.
I'm watching "The Notebook" (which I've actually never seen before except in bits and pieces), and watching Rachel McAdams swing dance, etc, post WW II is making me wanna read a Doctor Strange AU fic set in that same time period, where Stephen and Christine get to dance like that. Anyone know of anything like that?
If I wanted to write it myself, it would likely be years until I managed it.🫤

McKiwi's Fic Recs
(Stephen Strange / Christine Palmer)
These are all completed. Some are multi chapter. Most have very little smut, if any at all, so if you like that kind of stuff, you’re on your own. AUs are included. If I felt the characterizations were too off, it’s not here. If grammar was unacceptable, it’s not on this list. All of these have Stephen as a main character. These are organized by word count and genre. I've tried to include a little bit of (almost) everything. If you have any suggestions, feel free to reblog with those.
Blue indicates registered users only
REC LIST UNDER CUT
"A Long Engagement" by englishable: [1106 words / Canon Divergence] Perhaps she should not be here and speaking to him, so soon after putting a hold on her own marriage, but there is no point in withholding help when Stephen needs it. Such has always been the story.
“Across the Universe” by Fangirl_on_fire: [1287 words / Angst] “I love you,” he says. “In every universe.” Christine smiles, soft and sad and wistful. Then she slips out of his hands, over and over and over.
"Magic Sucks" by ValmureEld (InkSiren): [1619 words / Hurt/Comfort] Stephen belatedly finds out there are physical consequences for the mystic arts. Christine, of course, has to deal with him. Wong and the cloak make an effort as well. It takes a village to deal with a young and flighty new sorcerer.
“I Don’t Want You to Go” by starkiller_queen: [2106 words / Hurt/Comfort] Christine spends an evening giving Stephen some much needed comfort and reassurance after his accident. When Stephen has a panic attack, both friends come to realize just how scarred he really is, inside and out.
“Like an Old Coat” by ValmureEld: [2190 words / Hurt/Comfort] Stephen requests Christine come to his home at the New York sanctum, and against her better judgment she goes and learns a little more of the vast world Stephen has been walking since he disappeared. Fill in to deal with some of Stephen's many injuries, physical and psychological after the battle. Also, Christine is weirded out by Astral Projection.
"Happier" by jazzaiko: [2396 words / Canon Divergence] "Are you happy, Stephen?" Stephen can't stop thinking about that question. What if there is a universe where he happily lives with Christine?
"Sweetness Itself" by englishable: [3132 words / Hurt/Comfort] Stephen receives the punishment he begs for, in place of both Christine and the world, and so she comes back from the dead no worse for wear, even if she’s extremely confused by a few minor details. They never did get to eat dessert like he promised, though. Maybe she ought to remind him. (PalmerStrange Week Day Three — Crème Brulée)
"Holy Palmers' Kiss" by Etheostoma: [3146 words / Hurt/Comfort] Though Stephen may shudder and ache with the weight of lost opportunities and his regret, he wants nothing more than for Christine to be happy. What he does not fully realize or appreciate is that she wants just the same for him. "For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch, And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss."
“Bridges Falling Down” by Dr_MiriamLanning2: [6592 words / Hurt/Comfort] When Stephen Strange materializes in Christine's kitchen in desperate need of at least one band-aid, she is forced to confront the fact that he is not exactly the man she once knew- and her heart may not be as finished with him as she thought.
“Equal and Opposite” by Anonymous: [7562 words / Canon Divergence] Stephen settles into the job of New York Sanctum Master, has a ridiculous incident on ice, makes nice with Christine and Wong, throws up a bit because he’s trying to use too much magic, and gets himself a fan club which consists almost exclusively of magical artefacts. Then there's Mordo. And the cloak. And everything else...
“Valuable Time” by reddottedpaper: [20590 words / Character Study] How did Stephen Strange and Christine Palmer meet and everything around it and their daily lives. This story gives you an insight into the mind of Stephen Strange himself, long before he was a sorcerer.

tell me about palmerstrange and ironstrange
Okay, okay. So two people asked me about this. you and @storyuntrue. However, their ask included another ship so I'm going to save theirs for that one and answer this shared part in this one !
Okay so let's start with Stephen and Christine because there's so much misunderstood here and it's so important to get these facts straight. nobody gives an engraved and expensive watch to someone who was "barely lovers", nor is it held onto as a prized possession. I feel like I shouldn't have to clarify this - but I still see the interpretation of them as just a hook-up or something casual on one end or another, when that's so far from the truth. Ignoring the fact that there's references in both What-If, Multiverse of Madness and some prequel tie-in material --- Christine and Stephen were in a serious committed relationship. they are broken up by the time of the first film, but have managed to be on somewhat good terms (even if some awkwardness and tension of unresolved feelings remain). This is something Stephen said in that moment because he was hurting, lashing out and did the human thing of wanting others to hurt as bad as you are. It wasn't right, but its human. It's also the very reason Christine doesn't answer his emails for the entire time he's away. Stephen had to earn that forgiveness and trust again, and at the end of the first film the first steps have begun. It's not perfect yet, but it's a first step.
Now, what was originally going to unfold between them in the original plans for Doctor Strange 2 are unclear, as Christine Palmer was not announced officially until after the film shifted to Multiverse of Madness. Personally, me and partners I've written this dynamic with in the past --- before Infinity War they were in a good place. Not necessarily dating yet, but reaching a point where this could have been the natural next step. Then Thanos happened, and Stephen was lost. Christine might have remained, and possibly waited for a bit to see if something would happen. Yet, it's important to consider that all she would have known for the a bit was Stephen went into space to try to stop it and in one way or another failed. Its unclear if Wong even knew if Stephen was blipped or was killed like Loki or Gamora were. So, until he arose five years later --- he would have just be one of the fallen. Even so, they still weren't actively together at that time. She would have grieved him as someone she'd once loved, but had held as a friend... someone who had just been in her life for a long time. Yet, she wasn't grieving him as a lover at the time --- so, she moved on. Now, in canon it makes the absolute most sense for our Christine Palmer to be marrying another and having moved on with her life. She and Stephen are in different places now, and she's not beholden to him. Yet, we see in Multiverse of Madness that with the alternate universe Christine and Stephen share flirtations and think that if it wasn't dangerous for the universe --- they could possibly be a great couple.
This is important to me because I think it tells us a few things. The first of which being how it brings truth to the line "I will love you in any universe". I truly believe this a universal constant for them. It doesn't mean they end up married and happily ever after together in each one, but they will always find one another and despite everything always love each other in one way or another. It also tells me that Stephen and Christine (in alternate universes or different versions of each other), could still find happiness and bring out the best in each other. Now, I'm not saying all this to say They are the one who got away, just a footnote for other ships. A lot of fics do this and I refuse for them to have their relationships belittled that way. I genuinely love them together and want to explore them being together because I think we see that they are good for each other. Now on Stephen's end, it's very clear. It's a narrative importance in both films and his initial episode of What-If --- but this isn't just a woman serving a man's narrative here. I think we see that it goes both ways. This might sound ridiculous at first because Stephen as a character has his flaws very easily spotted in the narrative.
Yet, I also think that Christine from the other Earth in Multiverse of Madness is bettered for having met him as well. When they first meet, she is justified in questioning if she can trust our Stephen. Our Stephen is still navigating things, and her world's Stephen did a lot of things wrong. It's the same reason America has doubts at first. There's some elements of him that are universally constant, and that's going to have repercussions on how that Christine takes him at first. Yet, we see that Christine is reluctant to accept that there could be more grey/neutrality when it comes to the magic and what Stephen wishes to do to save everyone. She's been made to view magic as a black and white thing, something akin to a science. Maybe it is akin to a science, maybe it's more complicated than that --- but either way, she's very rigid in her views. We understand why she is and the narrative doesn't fault her for her caution --- but it is a hurdle to overcome, and ultimately needs to for everything to turn out as it should. Stephen has to play with he same grey area that The Ancient One is revealed to have needed to do. How magic isn't strictly good or evil, but the intention behind it and how much we let it consume us is what makes that distinction. I think this is shown by the story to be an important and bettering change for this Christine. It also tells us somethings that can be applied to the other Christine's. It's not a one way street, if elements of Stephen can be universal constants --- the same applies to all characters. I think what we gleam from this is that Stephen and Christine both are a safe place for them to be their worst versions of themselves, but not let them languish in them... but challenge one another to be the better versions of themselves and meet that. They make the other one be better and do better, while also seeing them --- warts and all, and still caring. I think that is a foundation of a beautiful and grounded relationship. While I think having them get together in canon now would be a mistake, at least not our original Christine --- I truly believe that they'd always be important and loved by the other in every universe. The universes where they can be together ultimately are ones I genuinely love exploring so much.
Now, when it comes to Ironstrange --- this is another pairing that I love. I've been asked a couple times over the years if I have a preference out of the two of them and I genuinely cannot pick one. Maybe some of this is because two of my best and longest writing friends have been behind these for me --- but I truly think it's more than that. Now team-ups of Stephen Strange and Tony Stark are not entirely knew. There are many comic panels I could pull up, but if you're familiar with the ship you've likely seen them. If someone wants me to gather them, let me know --- but I want to talk about them on a less surface level. One thing that will immediately turn me off on an interpretation of the ship is when people treat Stephen and Tony-lite, or someone to take care of the other in their relationship like a nanny. I personally think this does both characters a disservice.
Tony and Stephen vary greatly in the different versions of the characters. Sometimes they don't immediately get on, other times they are exchanging clever wordplay and quips for sport. I feel these are both extremely accurate to them. Stephen and Tony are both characters who know what it's like to hide behind a persona of sorts. Tony's was much more universally known, but Stephen's was no less firmly in place. Stephen's was the cool, calculating and charming Doctor Stephen Strange --- and Tony's was the billionaire playboy. Both of these were versions of themselves they used to both hide behind and protect themselves. In addition, they also have shared complicated histories with their fathers, as well as being the last remaining members of their families. They know what that isolation and grief does to a person. They're also brilliant (and occasionally autistic coded) --- where we see time and time again that even when they aren't the closest, that they share an understanding with one another that others don't fully get. They think on the same wavelength, even if they don't agree with the same conclusions from it at times. This plus an innate and personal understanding of the kind of trauma the other one carries, even if not identical, is something that makes them a possible good match. There are things you just can't understand about someone unless you've been through it yourself --- and they have that ability. This leads me to a very big point about how this shared trauma isn't just emotional and mental --- but as both are men with physical disabilities. Tony's tends to get overlooked, mainly because in the films it only comes up when plot relevant --- but Stephen's is such a core part of who he's become and the path he's taken.
Disability isn't something that needs to remove your ability to live a fulfilling life (I have disabilities myself, so I am using my own experience as reference --- there is no one size fits all in regards to this) but it does impact your life in permanent ways. It means you have to change the way you think and approach things. It's frustrating and can be defeating at times, and a lot of the positive-focus only talk social media likes to have about a disability is ignoring that a disability disables you and that can fucking suck. It doesn't have to be the end of everything, but you do feel it. People without a disability don't fully understand the way it impacts their life. Sometimes, you'll have harder days because the world you live in doesn't accommodate you or care to even try, sometimes it's because your body is just having a tougher time. This is something not everyone is equipped to handle in a partner. I'm not saying they are wrong or not, we have different things on our plates and sometimes the fact is that it's just not always a healthy match. That's a much different discussion, so just take that bit with the fact there's nuance to it. The reason I bring any of this up is because, especially for people as guarded, self-sacrificing, and prone to ignoring their own needs as Stephen and Tony are --- there is a security and grace that comes when you're in a relationship with someone who just innately understands that. Again, I may be borrowing some of my few from personal experience with my fianc --- but it's something that I think Stephen and Tony would not just understand and not hold against them when it makes them not at their best --- but also someone who would push and challenge them to get out of that space when needed. This goes both ways, because of how much they need it for themselves and how much they focus on the needs of others before themselves.
However, outside of the emotional and medical side of things --- I also just think they get along well, and would make each other laugh. They're both losers focused on very specific hyperfixations and I can see that leading to a lot of shared interests and bonding between them. Stephen is a sorcerer but he was a doctor first, a man of science. That very much mixed with Tony's mind for science and technology could also be the birth of great debate, mind puzzles and possibly some practical application. Stephen is shown to be naturally curious and want to break limits and boundaries, something Tony actively does. In addition to this, both of these characters have a long history of coded queerness. One time in relation to each other, but mainly in a much broader sense. I personally enjoy exploring queerness through the lens of older generations, we take a lot for granted in our queer spaces but the mental hurdles and eventual peace of older queer people who could have lived through events like Stonewall and Gay Panic as children/young adults is something both worth exploring in general (as its common for a lot of popular queer pairs to be younger, with different hurdles). As well as the experiences of openly queer adults who have already done the work when younger, as that's also something interesting to me as a contrast to the common story told in media. Stephen and Tony have their own history of being such people, and being able to play with that and the implications of it --- in connection to everything else, really make them a pair that I am obsessed with.
So yes, this is some of my thoughts about Palmerstrange and Ironstrange...

Just saw your post about having to block the doctor strange x reader tag, and I must agree it's become the predominant DS fic that comes up as recommended on my feed as well. There are several authors I enjoy reading in that category (although lately the overall amount of fics is overwhelming), but I only started writing them myself as my stephen x ofc fics could never gain a bit of traction. I have a theory that if I went back and changed my ofc's to reader inserts, I'd probably gain a lot more readers--but I can never bring myself to doing that as I wouldn't be true to myself as an author.
I suppose that's just a writerly woe I'm sharing with someone who might understand.😏 But I'm curious; are you open to reading non-romance fics featuring original characters? I've found that tumblr can be quite snobbish towards that species of fic.
I wanted to reply to this ages ago but it requires my computer and some thinking, so I kept pushing it off again and again and again and whelp, here we are. My bad. ><
I'm the same way where being true to myself as an author is writing what I want, so I get you there. Doesn't get As Much Engagement as other tropes would, but y'know what, I can live with that. If anything, I've actually found that the fic I compromised most on (because it was for a themed exchange) is one I want to reread the least. So if anything, a lot of me writes for "do I want to reread this in the future" and that has helped me since.
It's funny since OFC romances used to be pretty popular way back when, but I guess "reader" took over that audience over the last decade because the majority of the people just wanted to insert themselves into the position instead of reading about a full-fleshed character? Honestly not sure.
Right, I keep delaying the reason I took so long to get back to you - non-romance fics with OCs. The answer, by the way, is yes. Great OCs are fantastic, but you don't tend to see many OCs outside of romance, or you only see them as side characters in another pairing's fic. They don't often have starring or co-starring roles. But I wanted to find examples with great OCs which would take time.
And now I'm taking that time. Here's some good OC-starring fics that I scoured through the tag. They're difficult to find. I had to smudge that requirement after a while. Then I gave up after I got to 2 years back in the tag.
Some of the stories that I know have very good OCs are also IronStrange, but I know that's not your cup of tea so I left it out. But I found a handful.
Keshwyn was the author that came to mind when you originally sent this ask, but I wanted to have more than one author when I wrote this. Read their series, highly recommend, top-tier OCs across the whole spectrum, with the main star being female.
This fic by LexLemon is technically PalmerStrange, but the OCs are her parents, so it's basically a delight in my eyes as Stephen's fish-out-of-water act is always funny to me.
Dragonnan writes good OCs, usually the mean sort though, the ones who hurt Stephen rather than befriend him (male and female lmao), but if you're in a whumpy mood at some point...
This isn't technically an OC, but I don't know the character from the comics, so she's an OC to me! This Stephen's new apprentice is Casey Kinmont fic by Stratagem. They just updated recently too, need to cheer them on at some point.
*sigh* Sorry love, I ran out of good OC fics that didn't have background/primary IronStrange that I could find/remember. But yeah. There's some fic/author recs.
(If anyone wants to add to the list, feel free to leave a comment or reblog. I was avoiding IronStrange for the asker in particular but I don't think the asker sees reblogs so go for it if you'd like).
Also, I love the OCs that I've come up with for my various stories in both LOTR and the MCU. I'll ramble all about them if you (or someone) wants me to, quite happily.
Hope that answers the question/reason for the ask, mostly.
#sobeautifullyobsessed#ask#answered#fic recs#stephen strange#fanfic#yes give me a reason to just write an essay about my ocs lmao#all the rp ones in particular were really well loved

Saturn anon sent me a long tag, so I’m answering it below. I picked Stephen Strange🥰
Ask Game about your fictional fave/s!
1. How did you discover your fave?
I discovered Doctor Strange when rumours started spreading that Benedict would play him. I started researching the character and comics and I cannot put into words how excited I was.
2. How long have you been a fan of your fave?
2015? I think that was when it was announced that Benedict would take the role.
3. Do you write for your fave? (E.g. AU's, Drabbles, Fan Fics.)
Wayyyy too much
4. Do you like what is canon about your fave?
Before Endgame I cared a lot more about canon, but now not really. I just use canon as inspiration to create whatever I want with Stephen in my works.
5. Tell some of your headcanons of your fave.
I don’t really have any. I guess you could say my versions of Stephen in my works are HCs though. My Stephen is kind, patient, loving, structured, smart and overall just a good parental figure with lots of love to give.
6. Do you draw for your fave? (E.g. Fan Art)
If I could draw I totally would. Surgeon Strange supremacy!!
7. If your fave/s are portrayed by several actors, who are your fave portrayers?
Ben, Benny and Benedict hehe
8. Are you more into Books/ Comics/Films when it comes to your fave?
Totally! I read a bunch of comics before the first movie came out and I loved them a lot.
9. Quote anything about what your fave has said.
“But we don’t talk about that.”
10. Quote your favourite line of your fave!
“I love you in every universe.”
11. Ever made a edit for/of your fave?
A few headers and profile pics, yeah.
12. Songs you associate with your fave?
Breathe by Seeb, Lost by Sander Van Doorn, My Heart Is Open by Maroon 5. And of course the soundtrack to the movies.
13. If your fave was real, do you think they'd like you?
That’s a scary question ahhh!! Canon Stephen would probably not care to take the time to get to know me. But, I hope he’d see the value of me and my life/freedom and protect it like he does for everyone else.
14. Amongst your fave/s who do you think are you? (E.g. You have 5 faves, amongst the 5 of them you think of yourself as fave no.3)
I don’t get this question ehhh
15. Do you know your fave origin story?
Of course! Stephen grew up on a farm, his sister drowned in a lake when they were young, went to med school and then the car accident.
16. In 1 word describe your fave’s aesthetic.
Sterdy.
17. Is/Are your fave/s famous on A03?
In one corner of the fandom, yeah for sure.
18. Ships that you like with your fave?
Starkerstrange, strangespider, ironstrange, palmerstrange.
19. Is/Are your fave/s well known?
A kid in school told me Doctor Strange was his favourite superhero, so yeah!
20. If your fave/s have a fandom, what do you think about the fandom?
I think there’s one fandom that is ”mainstream” as in they like canon Stephen and/or ship him with Christine Palmer. But, since I’m in the starker fandom, I often see Stephen as an addition to that ship. These spaces sort of overlap, but the ”mainstream” fandom and ”Stephen as the addition” fandom are distinctive to me.
21. Describe yourself using something your faves have said!
It’s not a specific quote, but control is a big part of Stephen’s character and his drive. I also have a big need for control, so I can relate to him in that way.
22. If you would feed your fave/s something, what would it be?
Corn? Cornbread? Maybe that would be nostalgic to him.
23. How do you see yourself in any of your fave/s?
Like I said before, control. And fear too I guess.
24. Ever taken a break from your fave/s?
After Endgame I had to rethink how much energy I wanted to invest in canon and fandom. But, then I managed to separate canon Stephen and the Stephen I have created in my works. I’m content with my little Stephen, no matter what happens in canon.
25. If your fave/s were to have a crossover, who and which character would they have a crossover with?
I don’t like crossovers, so I don’t need him to meet anyone.
Bonus: Anything that you'd like to tell your fave/s?
It’s not your fault Donna died. It’s okay. You’re keeping us all safe, even if no one knows or understands or people think you are doing the wrong thing.
Tag some people to join in!
@starksbabie @sydneyshipsstuff @starkerplusstrange @starksvinyls @starkiller-queen @sins-of-a-spider @winterspiderpurrs @sugarstark @thegreenmetblue @vaguekiwi

STUCK CHAPTER 2
Prologue: Christine takes Stephen to her house to understand what's going on while she examinates him, but Stephen may attract some people atention with not so good intentions
She was back, and she was okay. Stephen missed the feeling of her soft aura and that lovely look despite what he just became…well, she was okay with him so nevermind that. "What in the world happened to you, Stephen?" Christine asked while trying to get up, being helped by the creature's arm before he standed up too. "It's such a long story" Stephen replied, afraid of telling her that he absorbed a lot of eldritch creatures for centuries to acomplish his one and only purpose, what would she think of that? She would get even more scared of him, still, by reasonable ways. "Why don't we just get out of here and talk in a more comfortable place?" "Agree" Christine said on a determinated tone, remembering that they were at a unloading dock and someone could see them, most importantly him. "We can't let anyone see you Stephen, i can take you to my house but the thing is how are we gonna get there without being noticed" "I can do something" Stephen proudly said as he opened a portal right inside christine's house just in the bedroom. "You chose that room on purpose, didn't you?" Christine chuckled "You go first, my dear" Stephen said on his traditional arrogant tone. Christine just smiled and entered as he followed her. "now we're- ow!" Stephen grunted when he accidentaly hit the roof due to his form's big size. "Oh" Christine couldn't hold a simpatic laugh as Stephen bowed his head. "Ha ha, very funny" He answered as she gently touched his left arm from the top, avoiding two eyes in order to not hurt them, ending on his hand. The warm brown eyes met the multiple yellow, orange and blue ones. Stephen was hypnotized with Christine's look but again, her talking broke that trance… "Okay now tell me what happened, i don't think you randomly got like that out of nowhere Stephen" Christine scolded, making Stephen wonder what would he say now, freaking out over his own words "Y-you… i-i, i mean, we-" Stephen finally calmed down his talk "I don't know, i just went like that for some reason, and it was painful, then i ended up finding you inconscious when the accident happened" "Then why did you said you brought me back?" Christine raised an eyebrow at Stephen like a mother would ask a lying child, Stephen had to pull out something so he just answered: "You were dying, but i….i managed to save you and snap you back to reality, Christine" "But…….i thought you……….nevermind" Christine felt instant remorse. Why would Stephen lie about something like that? He was arrogant, sure, and totally capable of pranking her but she knew he loved her even despite all of these factors, besides, it's no joke when a literal demonic creature talks to you. "I'm so sorry, that doubt, wasn't too apropiate…" She helped him to sit since his goat-shaped legs were not used to that pose, then she just curled on him and took a rest….
Not too far from the unloading dock Strange took her, some people you may know watched everything. "You sure you want to get that thing, boss? it doesn't seem like something you would want to mess with" A tall, russian-like guy said "It surely worths some millions" The boss man, now identified as Sonny Burch replied (Editor's note: i know he's located in San Francisco by that time but in my headcanon he was in NY before that) "What about the woman?" A muslim-like henchmen asked "We're gonna need her too, it appears she knows it or is somehow related to it so we could track her way down to find him. Besides, it appears to be friendly to her, we could use that to make it full manipulable" "And then what will we do, may i ask?" The same muslim henchmen questioned "What do you think? Sell him to the highest bidder we can find, after that, we'll find something else…" "Boss, i found the identification of the woman, Christine Palmer, worked at the local hospital and went missing for two years along the doctor Stephen Vincent Strange" "Then we're gonna make a visit tomorrow" Burch grinned on a scary way, and his head filled with one thought: money..
The morning's first sounds traveled throught the window; birds chirping, cars on their daily routine and people walking to either get to their jobs or take their kids to school. Stephen woke with a surprise, Christine on his arms with their ribs together and some of his limbs hugging her along his arms, as she was already woke up and hugging him back. "Good morning, Doctor" She upered her head while he just smirked at her and replied on a sarcastic tone. "Good morning, Doctor Palmer" "What hour is it?" She asked "Like 6 am, it's still to early" The sorcerer lowered her down and put his chin over her head, touching her cheeks slowly, making sure she could be the most comfortable possible, wings covering her like a blanket despite they were already covered by some. "Christine...." Stephen softly whispered "Yes?" The sweet woman raised her eyebrow "You seem so calm with my presence, you don't see what i am? What i could easily do to you if i wanted to? Now i'm just a...." Stephen hesitated to talk, breathing faster and faster... "I'm a horrible monster that doesn't deserve your empathy" Stephen finally spoke, feeling grieve as he backed away from Christine in fear of hurting her. "Stephen........" Christine softly aproached Strange, making a gesture to calm him down and finally reach him. "I have no reasons to be afraid of you, and you neither should be, because you ARE NOT a monster. You're my Stephen Strange, and you have all the right to receive not just my empathy and care, but also my love..." Christine blushed when saying those last words, but she was keeping it locked so many time and it was the oportunity to finally tell him. "Christine, why would you say that?" Strange shockingly reacted, while she just put one hand on his right shoulder, while the other hand touched his cheek. "Because i love you, Stephen" words came out from Christine as they put their heads together. "I'll always love you"

PalmerStrange Week 2022 || Day One: Free Choice
Life Saver
who knew a watch could save a life?
[was originally going to write this up as part of my palmerstrange oneshots fic that I will be posting up soon but decided to finish it for palmerstrangeweek22, it will be in my oneshots fic tho!]
——————————————————————
His breaths come out raspy and hard.
He’s been running for over two hours and the thing that was chasing him would not relent. A demonic killing machine.
Let’s just say that the sorcerer supreme had accidentally-accidentally pissed off the wrong person. And thus, they had sent this monstrous demonic creature that was immune to any spells and attacks, following him like a rabid dog. If he tried to portal somewhere, it would show up right at that moment and launch death-blowing attacks. So here he was. Running out of energy and acting like a middle schooler with severe asthma.
Unable to run any longer, Stephen finds himself trapped in a dark alleyway, the demonic monster skidding to a halt at the entrance and fixing its beady black eyes onto his.
So this was how he died. In terms of ways of meeting his end, this was definitely NOT ideal. Accepting his fate, he waits for the incoming life-ending blow and feels it the instant it pier-. Wait. He opens one eye first. Then the other followed after confirming with two eyes that he wasn’t dead yet, that he didn’t have a claw embedded into his heart.
Looking down at himself, he saw a bright glow in his left breast pocket. Momentarily stunned, he reaches in and pulls out the watch Christine had gifted him, feeling the etched words on the back with his fingers. He had forgotten that the watch was there, he must’ve left it there when he took it out yesterday.
A protection spell glowed around it, something he did immediately after defeating Dormammu, worried that the watch would be destroyed when he brought it with him day after day. It was the most powerful protection spell there was, he had come across it when scanning through hundreds of ancient spell books that Wong finally let him take–definitely not because he bribed Wong with Beyoncé concert tickets and an actual face-to-face meeting that may or may not have led to him fainting after she had gave him quite a tight hug.
Stephen shook his head in awed disbelief. His life was saved by a watch. Would you look at that?
He wished he had more time to dwell over it but the demonic monster was still giving him a deathly growl and he had to get moving again because the protection spell won’t last very long after that powerful attack.
Getting to his feet again, Stephen was able to launch himself far away as a head start, trying to send Wong a distress signal so he won’t come close to death again. Glancing down at the watch in his hand, his eyes softened and glistened just a bit. He missed Christine. Very much. He hoped that wherever she was right now, whatever she was doing, she was happy and safe. He wouldn’t be able to bear it if she wasn’t.
Because in the end, to Stephen Strange, Christine would always be the one who got away. And he would forever regret that till the end.

He is a deathless man alone at the center of a dying universe, or at least Sinister Strange is as alone as any man can be when he has a vast semi-sentient house and his own despair for company.
That isn’t even counting the ghost, of course. Her presence may be the worst punishment of all.
(Christine Palmer doesn’t understand why she’s still here, but then she’s never understood the supernatural taradiddle Stephen Strange sometimes drags her into.
In the meantime, she might as well try and keep a few promises. Undoing an incursion can't really be that hard.)
