I fell in love with the windows in this house. For a Naturalist, if I can't be outside, at least I can see outside. The cats feel the same way.

Legitimately having to leave these trees behind is the saddest thing about moving house to me
(ignore the propagation box, there was no way in hell I wasn't gonna attempt to grow them back from cuttings in pots this time!!)

Wait… In real life, the maple scientifically known as Acer palmatum is the “Inazuma” Japanese maple?
The same Japanese maple… that Kazuha’s (EN) constellation “Acer Palmatum” is named after?? In Chinese it’s 枫红座 (Feng1hong2zhuo4) which is just “red maple constellation” directly speaking
Seems this species is also known as Irohamomiji (いろは紅葉 or イロハモミジ I believe?) or Irohakaede (いろは楓/イロハカエデ)
Kaedehara Kazuha’s name is written as 楓原万葉 in kanji…

This rhodo was here when we moved in. It lived loosely in a pot for a year while we renovated the bed it's in now. We decided to chuck it back in and despite rhodos being notoriously unhappy to be moved, it has thrived. At first I thought the flowers looked like a handful of used tissues. But now that she's in context, surrounded by ferns and other flowers that bring out the pink and yellow, I've come to appreciate her. The bees do as well.
