. ♡ Qᴜɪᴅᴅɪᴛᴄʜ ᴍᴀᴛᴄʜ ㅤ16.04.2026 ⌵ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ( . . . ) Adesso che il boccino è bello stretto tra le proprie dita - 𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘢 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘻𝘢 𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘵𝘢!!! 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢!!!!

One of the most beguiling creatures on earth, the Namib dune gecko, otherwise known as the palmato gecko or web-footed gecko, is a lot tougher than it appears to be. This small desert reptile, which only grows to about 13cm long, is in fact supremely adapted to its arid environment – so specialised that it only occurs in the Namib Desert. The skin of this gecko has a translucent look, with some of the internal organs almost visible beneath its surface, creating an illusion of ghostlike fragility, while delicate salmon undertones and light brown markings add to its visual appeal.
The most outstanding feature of the Namib dune gecko are its big, appealing, unblinking eyes which are lidless, like those of all geckos. As a nocturnal animal, these large eyes give it a panoramic view of its surroundings. The gecko has also learnt to take advantage of the constant fog in these parts, harvesting water from the atmosphere by allowing moisture to condense on its large eyeballs. Once a few drops have accumulated, the gecko licks its eyes clean with its tongue to claim this precious liquid as its own.

movie rec anon: oh yeah i'm not sure i'll be able to get through it because like, i've cut my dad off but if he did something like that they'd have to put me in a supermax cell for what i'd do to him fff. But I was reading some interviews and was like "so. the director sidesteps questions about sexting. um." and was just thinking about weird erosions of boundaries and the unhealthy unravelling of family relationships and like, this is like the total opposite of the vibe in beatrice palmato but just the general concept of fathers doing very invasive things with the excuse of like, soothing their children or whatever. still turning that edith wharton snippet over in my head...
[cw incest, csa]
i read one review for the movie, just to have a general idea of its content, because while i do sometimes like comedy that deals with incest, it can very easily fall into extremely insensitive and offensive material as well, and i don't want to go in unprepared for that. and according to that one review, the movie actually... goes there? i don't know what the reviewer meant by it, but. hm.
i know what you mean, this is actually something that interests me a lot. not only a parent being invasive with the excuse of soothing their child (or while their child is trying to soothe them, which can involve so many feelings of intimacy but also a huge emotional burden), but also like, the way incest turns every other interaction into something suspicious. i don't want to go into too much detail on main like this, but it does seem to taint other familial relationships, everything feels potentially sexual for some time.
this went in a whole direction, but yeah, i'm interested in what you mentioned too, and the associations children make when they don't have any other frame of reference. the son in the movie being a teenager makes this very different, but also says something interesting about the lack of boundaries in their relationship.

“They’re rich but still nice” “They’re nice because they’re rich.” Parasite ~ Joon-ho Bong (2019)
E i ricchi invece?

MATERIAL EXPERIMENTATION - NATURAL DYES AND NATURAL FIBRES.3.
Dulse Seaweed Dyeing
‘Dulse (Polmaria  Palmato) is a wild seaweed that grows on the North Atlantic coast of Britain. Its Gaelic name is duileasg, and the fronds are long and membranous with a dark reddish-purple translucent hue. It formed part of a regular diet for coastal-dwelling communities in Scotland and Northern Ireland for centuries, as it is highly rich in vitamins and minerals, and a good source of protein’ (Slow Food in the UK, 2020).
‘Dulse and many other types of kelp and seaweed are excellent dyestuffs provided the dyer is aware if the outrageous smell such bath will produce' (Casselman, 2013).
Although after extensive research I have been unable to source a recipe for Dulse seaweed dyeing. I have found a recipe for creating a 'Sea lvory' dyebath (a seaweed I was unable to source online). Therefore, I have decided to follow this method and recipe for my Dulse seaweed, and hope I get a positive result.
Sea lvory Recipe | Ramalina Scopulorum
‘Beard of the rock grows abundantly wherever there are rocks exposed at high-water mark and above. The flattened branches grow in tufts which hang downward and are pale greenish-grey, smooth and shining. The spore-producing apothecia appear as raised yellowish-grey discs’ (Fraser, 1983).
Orange/brown colour | no mordant required Cover the seaweed in water and boil for 1½ hours.
2.    Strain off the water and use as the dyebath.
3.    Place fabric/fibre into the dyebath, and simmer for ½ an hour.
4.    Rinse & dry.
My method for Dulse Seaweed dye experimentation:
1.    Ensure that the Dulse is free from barnacles, and litter, and soak in water prior to use.
2.    Put 20g Dulce and 800ml of water into a pan.
3.    Bring to boil.
4.    Simmer for 1½ hours.
5.    Strain away the seaweed and keep the water as your dye pot.
6.    Keep the dye pot simmering throughout the dyeing process.
7.    wet the fibres in clean water, before dying.
8.    Submerge the fibres into the dye pot.
9.    Leave the fibres in the water for 1min.
10.       Remove the fibres from the dye and blanch in cold water (this oxidises the dye, allowing the colour to develop)
11.       Re submerge the fibres into the dye pot for a further 2 mins
12.       Blanch in water.
13.       Re submerge for three minutes.
14.       Rinse off and dry.
At this stage, I can conclude that the fibres don't appear to have absorbed any pigment, the samples of all fibres (mordanted and non-mordanted) have remained white. This is quite unusual as the dye bath water is a brown/red/purple colour.
As I was hoping for a light purple or brown tone to my samples. I have decided to put 10 more grams of Dulse into the dye bath. Allow the dyebath to simmer for 30 more minutes, strain and then repeat the dye process.
Reflection and evaluation | Dulse Seaweed dyeing
Although I attempted to salvage the situation, by adding more seaweed to the dye pot. The fibres have not taken very well to the dye, regardless of if they have been mordanted or not. The seaweed colour is virtually non-existent. The tussah silk (mordanted and non-mordanted) samples have a very faint hint of lilac, but that is the only identifiable difference between the fibres pre-dyed and post-dyed state.
This isn't too shocking, as I did struggle to find a recipe for using this seaweed for a dyebath. Which therefore indicated to me that extracting dye from this alga is challenging. However, I have experimented with multiple different forms of plant dyeing previously and have never has such a non-responsive result. I wonder if the poor outcome was a result of the seaweed being previously dried, the dyebath being too diluted or whether the plant just isn't suitable for dyeing.
Although this sample is unsuccessful, I will experiment with a different type of seaweed. In the hope of extracting pigment. l am aware from research that Kelp and other green seaweeds, can be used for dyebaths (i.e. Studio Nienke's piece 'SEA ME'). Therefore, I will be using a mixture of sea greens and Kelp, for my next dyebath.
