meta talk. i don't quite know how to word this properly, but adding french creators to the qsmp is the riskiest thing quackity studios could've done and it doesn't surprise me that the success to which it was executed was minimal.

adding portuguese speaking creators exclusively from brazil as the first batch outside of the initial english and spanish speakers was the perfect "soft expansion" for the server when you consider the reason for the project's conception - because quackity had experienced poor treatment from white americans as a bilingual latino creator and sought to unite his two communities in an empowering way, further expanding this very noble and personal idea to encapsulate all communities and all languages spanning across the entire world. inviting more latino creators who have likely had the same experiences and would be able to appreciate what the project is trying to achieve is a no-brainer.

it's an uncomfortable thing to touch on (which is why i've never, ever, seen it spoken about on this website), but minecraft projects and communities have always had massive problems with all forms of bigotry, but especially racism. white americans and white europeans have probably not felt the euphoria of seeing their culture celebrated in mainstream global entertainment projects as they already absolutely dominate the entertainment industry on a global scale. as someone who is visibly brown and living in europe, i've always got a lot of grief from classmates and co-workers in the form of ignorant jokes and flat out exclusion - it's an unfortunate cultural norm that bleeds into streaming due to the medium's casual and open nature, unnoticed or unchallenged by white viewers who don't want to have to confront a content creator's bigotry in fears of having to stop watching them. something that cannot be ignored by the people it's actually affecting. there is a reason dsmp and hermitcraft cosplay meet ups are dominated by pale skin.

i love the qsmp because its inclusion of latin american creators and quackity's selectiveness based on personal experience have largely (and i do mean largely, not entirely, but that's a discussion for another day) eliminated that problem.

the most prominent and succinct example i can think of is the photo of quackity's bedroom that was mocked countless times by his english speaking community and his bigoted english speaking friends when he streamed on the dsmp - when that photo was brought to the qsmp, forever, a fellow latino creator, was the first person to gently offer solidarity because he had come from the same impoverished latin american background. to me, and to a lot of minorities, that is what the qsmp is about. yeah, sharing languages in a minecraft server is novel, it's a fun way for americans who did poorly in high school to get back into learning spanish, but it stands for so much more when you're a racial minority. when your pleading in the dsmp fandom was drowned out and ignored for the entire duration of its run. when you're completely unrepresented in minecraft tournaments, and when known bigots are encouraged to participate in said tournaments to boost viewership because numbers are paramount. when you are finally seeing your culture appreciated rather than mocked on streams with tens of thousands of viewers all over the world as part of a massive project with a brilliant, engaging story.

it was obviously necessary to branch out of the americas at some point with what the project is attempting to achieve, but such a task is daunting when the next group you're inviting and their community probably do not have the capacity through personal experience to appreciate what the project stands for at its core in the same way the first batches do. can non americans all relate in discussions of the internet and entertainment industry being america and by extension english speaking centric? yeah, of course. but can white europeans relate when the only representation you have in said media revolves around harmful bigoted stereotypes? can there be a quiet solidarity between a white frenchman and a brown brazilian based on experiences with government, racial profiling, and online mockery? no. and in the landscape of livestreaming stupid jokes for entertainment alongside fast paced gameplay, these nuances are probably not going to be acknowledged.

in complete contrast to the solidarity exhibited between quackity and forever when discussing their poverty growing up in latin america, i have not forgotten and never will forget aypierre excusing his constant racist jokes aimed at the brazilians on his uniquely "french dark humour" that the brazilians, hurt by his comments, could "not understand." this is not an excusable cultural difference, but a symptom of white european privilege, and total ignorance towards what the project is meant to stand for. a smooth integration of all the world's cultures necessitates white european and white american introspection in a way that i haven't seen a lot of streamers capable of. admitting fault to such a degree and the ego of a large online personality do not often mesh well.

i'm always very irritated when people (especially english speakers) complain about them not "adding the germans" sooner despite us seeing applications for german speaking admins many months ago - because it would not be a task of simply throwing out server invites to content creators and cobbling together an animation of a submarine crashing into the island. you cannot downplay the ambition of this project and the mammoth task its trying to accomplish. people take for granted and forget that this is an unprecedented melding of cultures that would never otherwise interact and clash on the rare occasions they do. the french qsmp community being small and the french creators largely being outliers when it comes to the qsmp is not something born out of malice or purposeful exclusion, but simply a symptom of an unspoken lack of solidarity and inability to meaningfully relate based on everything from wildly varying privilege to global placement.

and don't get me wrong - i'm not excusing things like the times at which events are broadcast (i literally live in europe and have to stay up until sunrise to see most events, i think the admins do have to bite the bullet and begin structuring events around a new timezone that isn't the globally inconvenient unsustainable PST), or the exclusion of clips from french content creators at the presidential dinner, but i think attributing those admin choices to the brazilian community being unfairly favoured is downplaying what the qsmp as a project means for minorities, especially when the brazilian community receive the most scorn for infamously being the first to call out bigoted behaviour from qsmp content creators. yeah, it sucks that the french haven't slotted into the qsmp as well as the brazilians and aren't anywhere as numerous, but with all these unspoken contributing factors being taken into account, i can't be surprised.

i wish quackity and his team the best in smoothly integrating more languages and cultures in this amazing project in the future, but for the love of god please understand that the implications of this project and its impact are far larger than any streamer "drama" you might've witnessed in the past. and stop underplaying what this project is trying to achieve in an online landscape saturated in bigotry.

a little list of my dsmp species hc's for fun:

tommy: lab creation/shapeshifter. he changes depending on whoever hes closest to at the time. for tubbo he grows flowers, specifically like the moolip from minecraft earth. honestly this is just my tmmyrp design.

tubbo: moobloom. LOVE the ctubbo moobloom designs. his flowers wilt and change depending on his emotional state/season of the server/literal nature seasons. what looks like a laurel wreath is actually vines growing and wrapping around his horns.

wilbur: inhuman. not sure what he is. if we go off of canon and play along with... sighs. with utah. then entering the dsmp changed him physically. he has a long tail, furless elvish/animal ears, and sharp teeth. he doesnt even know what he is. if we go off of him being phil's kid then hes more closely related to kristin than phil in species based on how i draw her.

ranboo: he used to be a full enderman, but upon entering the server he was taken and experimented on and is half dreamon. dreamons look like undertale amalgams. ghostly pale, slime-like texture, can morph and warp into disguises. for ranboo, the dreamon half mimics an enderman. this is my latenightmining design i use.

purpled: shulker. i dont know a lot about purpled but i think basing him off of something in minecraft is more fun than making him just an alien. i also think it fits with his ufo i mean you enter through the tractor-beam its like levitation like shulkers plus theyre purple and yellow.

Nothing made Quackitys skin crawl worse than the feeling of falling. Tulip would probably do unspeakable things first than falling. He didn't have a fear of heights, quite the contrary the higher she was the more free the duck hybrid felt. There was nothing more pleasant to them than the feeling of being high up and feeling the fresh cold air on your skin, the feeling of being so high being thrilling more than anything. It's is as if the fact that regen is so high, the wind almost blowing tulip from regens feet, which made regen so happy.

But right now something was clearly wrong. Regen can't exactly place why, which made zips already quickened breath even faster, for why was power feeling so wrong. Zip didn't really understand the meaning of that, the view from the cliff was beautiful. The bluest and wildest waves were hitting the cliff below, the scent of salt mixed in with the strong gusts of wind blowing towards Quackity. The sun was slowly going down as if to take a dip in the ocean. It was a truly magnificent sight to behold, but it only made Quackity panic even more. Even though the wind was strong there seemed to be no air left in zips lungs.

It only took a blink of an eye until Quackity slipped on nothing and started to plumet down the cliff. Power tried to flap powers wings, but straight up fear consumed him when she didn't feel any wings on her back. Feath, seemingly forgetting the fact that he was falling, started to manically look behind darkblueself in hope to find blues wings intact, but what he saw there, or the lack of something to see there, made her go pale in the face. Tulips wings just limp covered in blood, parallelised flopping in the wind just like regens legs.

Zip seemed to be falling for an eternity and some more letting out a scream while going down, before hitting the water.

But the water never came, instead regen quickly sat up eyes wide in shock, zips fight or flight activated. Power flinched hard when the door was quickly opened by a dark figure with shining green eyes. But Quackity didn't care for the intruder, normally shouting at whoever dare enter his personal space without knocking first at least, feath quickly started to turn around looking behind himself to check on her wings. Her breath became shorter and tulips vision got somehow darker, even though the room was already drenched in darkness since it appeared to be still night.

The big figure that entered the door was Foolish, but in the moment Quackity just couldn't recognise him. Foolish was tired, very much so, building was no easy task even if gold was used to doing it all day and night, but he got woken up by the others screams. Gold expected many things to see, fools boss flailing around in panic whispering things he couldn't quite understand was not one of them. The other seemed in distress, so much so that she didn't even knowledge the others presence. Even though trip promised foolself that he would not get close to the other, sym couldn't help but feel concerned about the others state. Trip inched closer to Quackity grabbing zips hands, which were hopelessly searching for something on his back that wasn't there. The touch made power finally focus on pick, not without flinching hard, but to Foolishes luck the man didn't protest or try to get away from gold.

Quietly Quackity repeated what she seemed to be muttering the whole time was "Where are my wings?" The builder looked into paniced eyes in confusion. What wings? The last time he checked syms boss was no hybrid of any kind.

Foolish didn't know how the other managed to do it, but somehow sym started to feel pity towards Quackity. There was this paranoia in feathers frantic gaze, panic mixed in with darks voice with a hint of sadness.

Foolishes grip tightened around Quackities hands, not to tight to hurt tulip, but enough to not let regen hit pick when he asked the following "Quackity,,,,,what wings?"

That was definitely the wrong thing to ask in that moment, seeing as the human started flailing more, trying to get away from Foolish, in desperation she even started to try to hit fool in golds chest. Quackity just screamed "My wings?! Foolish where are my wings?!"

Quackity just screamed until darks throat seemed to be sore and her energy started to dwindle. The only sounds that came from Quackity were broken sobs, which made Foolish embrace power, avoiding to touch zips upper back as to not potentialy trigger the other again.

Although Foolish likes to be a little goofy at times, he is no idiot and slowly he thinks he knows what is going on. One does not life for as long as pick and not know what is going on right now. But although he has heard of people not really feeling like their species, trip has never dealt with anything like this before. Maybe he should get Fundy,or even Purpled.

Low broken whispers of "My wings-" came from the human making featherself cry more and breaking pick from golds thoughts. From behind Foolish grabbed the discarded blanked in which Quackity was wrapped in before when she was asleep and draped it over tulips shoulders as to provide some weight on regens back. Maybe that would give Quackity some familiar weight that wings would usually provide.

Thankfully it seemed like the right move, seeing as the human started to calm down. No sobs came from zip anymore. Foolish slowly unwraped golds bosses hands from around fool and gently laid Quackity down. The human sleeping again, this time a calm expression on her face as if nothing ever happened.

Foolish didn't linger in the bed, as soon as Foolish draped a blanked over Quackity sym made sure to get out of the room. They aren't friends after all, just business partners. The builder made sure to repeat that to himself a couple of times to remind goldself where fool stood with the other. Pick shouldn't start to sympathise with the other, Quackity left sym to die, so why should he care if feather has some species dysphoria, why should pick care if regen had a nightmare?

A sigh escaped the demigod while walking through the quiet hallway. Whatever will he do with the other?

If Foolish made a mental note to goldself, to ask Sam to design some mechanical wings before trip went to sleep it was syms business and his alone.

The wind howling like hungry wolves, sharp air cuts through his skin. And Dream runs.

He doesn't quite recognize the panic that is swating his heart, his eyes dazzling with the scene, trying to find a familiar shade of white figure in the middle of snow, snow and ice. It would be fine! Dream tried to remind himself, hands grips tightly on his axe, and shield. No armours.

But this is nothing close to fine. His legs tremble, his finger running pale, bones ache scream to take a break and the Adrenalin yells back: No, no, not yet. He can't help but feeling irony how this place (the spot he even chooses it himself) now give him the scene of a prey sitting on white plate, waiting for the knife and fork to cut through its neck.

Another wave of panic washes through his nerve. There is blood on his tongue, but Dream can't taste anything than Icy and just the numb icy alone. The escaped prisoner order his legs to move, to run, to find Punz.

But what if Punz also abandoned him ? Dream can't help but ask. What if the power gets into his head like how it did to Awesam ? What if Punz decided the revival book is good for themselves only ? What if Punz knows about the torture and left it be ? What if Punz come and take down the final villain of the DSMP, once again being the hero ?What if their betrayal scene becomes nothing but a true statement ? What if ? What if ?

He can't help but being paranoid, and he can't stop (thinking, running). Someone would be here and drag his legs back to the Heart of Pandora. In that moment, dazzling with nothing but snowflakes hugging his skeletal body, Dream realizes he missed the warm of his cell, lava, and obsidian, and its simple, its nothing like the overwhelming white and cold and loud winds surrounding.

There is nothing in Pandora for him, (Just that there is nothing outside left for Dream either). But it can't be, right ? Dream and Punz shares life, Punz promised him, they would go through everything together. (But it wasn't true, was it ? Dream was in the Prison alone, Dream was tortured, alone ? And it's not Punz's fault, but his fragile mind couldn't stop the bitter thinking)

The wind howling, and Dream snaps himself back, letting out a sharp breath that wasn't any warmer than the cold air. His grips tighter on the shield, They promised. And Dream is not unfamiliar with gamble, just another game another day, like hundred days under Quackity's axe. They promised. Dream remind his heart, and he lets himself hope once more, bet, once more.

Ok alright hi so :3 the Quacknap murder fic was this idea I had back in like May/June and I started but never finished (bc lazy and depressive episode and etc etc etc).

Basically it was canon cDreamSMP - cSapnap goes and visits cDream a SECOND time after the whole torture thing starts and is like “holy shit why does he look like that sure he was a bit emaciated last time from his hunger strike but there are huge scars across his body and his ears have been completely chopped off (in this cDream is a hare hybrid (which was a rabbit run reference and also it was to contrast with cKarl - who is a bunny hybrid and who cSapnap goes back to after seeing all the shit that happened to cDream) anyhow he’s openly horrified and ends up getting into a fight with cSam over this, before he goes home and continues to be horrified.

cTina later mentions having seen “the guy you were looking for” (cSapnap showed her a picture at some point so she kind of knows who he’s after but she doesn’t know cQuackity like personally or anything yet because DSMP canon and all that) covered in blood outside the prison and cSapnap kind of goes insane with fury and rushes after cQuackity to confront him. cQuackity denies it at first but. He’s covered in blood and also cDream had Q’s name carved into his chest so. Huh.

Basically it was going to get really weird from here - cQuackity and cSapnap almost sleep together because hey having your angry demon fiance shove you against a wall and try to strangle you for torturing his former best friend is kind of hot - but that devolves into a homoerotic sword fight which THEN devolves into a fistfight and then cQuackity just kind of dies.

(Obviously this is his second life so he’s still got one left but cSapnap goes to cPhil and cTechno (and ends up finding cPunz too) and is all “hey we have to move this shit along and rescue him already please” and they’re like “lol ok”

Dream swallows, glances behind Sapnap, and sighs, before leaning backwards, grabbing the book, and chucking it as hard as he can into the lava. He stares at the demon hybrid for a long moment, before carefully peeling back the prison uniform around his chest and revealing his pale skin there.

There’s a small coin branded against his skin, with an uncomfortably familiar :] in the center, and below that, a name, carved directly into Dream’s skin itself, leaving the area there raw and ugly and torn, oozing slightly from infection.

An Analysis on Tumblr Sexymen & Why Big Q Deserves Your Vote

Defining the Tumblr Sexymen

Though the term itself is pretty broad and largely debated on, one can gain a better understanding of what a sexyman is by combining the various definitions proposed. Deeply rooted in the Onceler fandom, the pioneering figure of such concept, the sexyman was defined as "white, skinny and cis, wearing dapper clothing, and being vaguely villainous." Some may describe it as simply a matter of fan popularity, while others believe a character can only be considered as a sexyman if they are made more appealing in fan interpretations compared to their actual canon form.

Knowing these three popular definitions, we now move to our candidate, former vice president of both the Manberg and L'Manburg, founder of Las Navadas, and beloved by all (ok, maybe not all): Quackity!

Yeah, the fanart. Rarely will you find biblically accurate Quackity fanart. Most of the time they're a little more aesthetically pleasing to look at. He's been portrayed as skinny, pale, and fashionable. Though it is quite common in the MCYT community to depart from the skin itself and incorporate the actual content creator's features, it's undoubtedly a fact that fanart for Quackity tends to make him sexier than his Minecraft skin.

Popularity-wise, Quackity was one of the favored members of DSMP with a view count of one million and nearly four hundred thousand on vods recapping his previous streams regarding his character. Thousands of fanworks have been produced in his name, including 26,958 works in AO3 involving Quackity and far too may fanart floating around the internet to take into account. So, its safe to say Big Q enjoys some level of popularity with his fandom.

But what about his lore? Does he fulfill the criteria of being villainous or at least villainous-adjacent?

Well, yeah.

Quackity is a character who has committed many unsavoury acts throughout his time on the server. He's cannibalized his ex's heart, blown up people's valued possessions, executed a guy through judicial misconduct, coerced a group of people to join him in making a new nation of his own, among other things. Though the morality and motivation of his actions can be debated on, it's no secret the Quackity is not entirely virtuous.

I believe Quackity is well-deserving of the title MCYTblr Sexyman, and I hope that, presented with this information, you too can be convinced that he deserves to win!! QUACKITYSWEEP

heyo i love your art of the canonically trans/enby characters and disabled characters in dream smp, seriously its some good shit! you think youll do one of the other canonically lgbtq characters? (ex. gay, bi, etc)

Bruh, literally the only confirmed heterosexual characters in the Dream SMP is Tommy and Philza. Even having biological sons or daughters doesn't mean they are straight. Wilbur had Fundy with a fish/woman, but he had an affair with Big Q during Pogtopia (and has a sort of crush on him during the current arc) and friend and him were canonically a thing and friend is referred as a "he".

For me, if the characters don't show any interest on a relationship they immediately become aro-ace in my eyes, such as Connor or Technoblade; specially the latter who directly rejected Quackity after asking him out; and of course aromantic and asexuals are part of the LGBT+ community.

That is also in part why I was more interested in focusing on the characters' genders because a lot of the people in the SMP are cis, with very few exceptions, such as the people I did in my drawing, plus Puffy and Ranboo who were revealed that doesn't care about gender (but prefer she/her) and doesn't understand gender at all respectably, after I published my piece.

I will probably not be doing a gay, bi, lesbian, etc, drawing because I don't feel like drawing every single character in the SMP in a single drawing, that sounds like hell.

Like literally people make jokes about how there's no straights characters in the DSMP.

But also because I want to focus on less discussed and talk about representation, such as gender and disabilities in all of their aspects, because while psychological disabilities is talked about rather frequently in the DSMP, specially around Tommy who has some serious problems with PTSD and self-destructive tendencies; but sensory and physical disabilities aren't discussed as much. Ponk is the first to bring it up and being a focus since he went for weeks without being able to use his left arm, but Philza also has mobility issues and most people don't talk about it. He said it himself when talking to Foolish that he has being looking for new ways to move around since his wings were destroyed when Wilbur blew everything up and it's not used to walking around. The same with Tubbo and Quackity who both are partially blind in one eye after their canon deaths left them with scars. Of course there's also Callahan who famously has never said a word out loud and being completely mute, and unlike the other examples, he was born like that, and everyone just accepts it, and I think that is really cool and I feel more people need to talk about it. I didn't know much about sensory problems until I talk about it with one of my DSMP discord server who taught me about it and made me want to be the next piece in this series because it's probably the least talk about of all disabilities and the one with the least representation on media, but it's tackle and mentioned in the Dream SMP. Literally the only times this disability is talked about in any media is if the characters has autism.

Usually when people make "callout posts" about incorrectly portraying a ccs skin tone, it's usually pointing out white washing a POC like Skeppy.

That is not the case here, and it never seems to be.

Quackity is a light skinned POC that consistently gets drawn FAR darker than what he is.

As a light skinned POC (specifically a latina. double whammy.) it's.... incredibly uncomfortable and jarring.

SO HEAR ME WHEN I SAY:

A light skinned POC is still a POC. A light skinned POC should be respected. A light skinned POC being drawn with the wrong skintone is a sign that you aren't paying attention to their features beyond their ethnicity – and that's both lazy and disrespectful.

And if this post causes at least ONE fanartist to change their ways, or encourages ANY other POC to speak up, or any POC who felt discomforted, or simply be seen— Then I'll be thrilled.
