(jumping in on asking you all the BG3 qs lol) Can I ask you what the not-Dark Urge player character origin is like? Dark Urge sounds really cool, but I haven't been playing the beta and I can't seem to find any information on the player character other than 'you can play as one of these premade characters or make a custom'. Does the custom character have a 'theme' or drive the way Dark Urge does?

ALL of the characters, whether they're a normal origin character, the dark urge (also an origin character but a little different from the rest), or the custom character, have a lot of the same dialogue options to choose between -- basic roleplay choices in any scene. it's just that different characters will also get unique choices!

the game uses a tagging system to decide what dialogue options you, as the player, get. sometimes this might be a class or race tag -- like, a drow will get unique drow dialogue, and a bard will get unique bard lines -- but it can also be more in depth, like a good-aligned cleric will get certain dialogue, or a cleric of a specific god will get content related to them, etc. the tags can come from your background (sage, sailor, urchin, etc.), or perhaps even previous choices you've made in the game. origin characters all get their own tags for dialogue that's unique to them and their backstory or knowledge.

the main difference between a custom character and an origin character is less about theme, to me, and more about how much a character's backstory is part of the plot. for a custom pc, backstory is more up to player headcanon. you still get lots of content that reflects your choices and customization, and you might get some dialogue options that talk about your past -- but by virtue of letting you make your own character, your backstory is more open-ended. who you choose to play, and how you choose to play them, is entirely up to you. with origin characters, they have specific backstories that come up in the story.

if anything, i'd say all of the characters (origin or custom) are reflective of the themes of the game. trust and temptation will be a big part for any character, whether you designed them yourself or are picking up one that's been made for you.

discovered noah this year and immediately became obsessed, this whole album is excellent imho, this specific song is so delicate, the lyrics (as they so often are) can just gut you if you're not careful

Daliva was a smaller dock town which was occupied by travellers going to and from Zairel and Port Amaratz on the wysindi coast. Well, them and the locals, who consisted of those too poor to leave and those rich enough to stay. Kell had watched hundreds of boats leaving the harbour, but on her wage she would have to eat nothing for a month just to pay passage. She promised herself years ago that she would do it, but she started to realise just how many promises she couldn’t keep. 

She sat on the cold cobblestone floor of the alley, leaning up against a damp slimy wall to better hide herself, shivering equally from the cold and the fear. The steady sound of dripping water from the drains of the houses around her helped her focus her disordered thoughts. There was no use thinking of what might have been. There was only what is now and what she would do next. She set about listing possibilities for leaving the alley.

fiunjmkefdsfeom I did download the unofficial homestuck project (which is gorgeous honestly,,,,) and i’m doing the “let’s read: homestuck” VA edition with my roommates and they’re enjoying it but it’s not ENOUGH homestuck content for ME!!

The birds eating the Gavle Goat are jackdaws, which are corvids, but not crows.

People also call the family corvidae the "crow family" but that family includes ravens, jays, rooks, magpies, etc. So, I guess you could call jackdaws crows if you really want to, but if you're going to do that you should commit to that classification and call bluejays crows as well.

The jackdaws are, however, very cute, and very good for taking up the mantle of destroying the goat.

been talking a lot with @pagesofkenna about ally and kristen this season, in part bc they realised some really interesting points about kristen’s seeming inability to be earnest which really nailed my own irritation with junior year kristen

like disclaimer i love ally, i think they’re a good and interesting player 99% of the time* but like. the more i think about riz and the student president arc the more i struggle with kristen focusing up on the bits and that’s all. i think at this point i honestly don’t want kristen to become student president, bc it is fundamentally not a plotline that kristen or ally have been able to take seriously at any point. personally i’m v much hoping this is going to tie into the “chaos isn’t cute” teaser at the beginning of the season, but like. it’s taking a long time to get there. i’m a fan of a bit, don’t get me wrong? but there’s just so little sincerity right now in over half of kristen’s actions, and specifically in the context of the student president plotline, it is just increasingly aggravating.

curious to see if the number of bits that kristen does are frustrating to anyone but the two of us, or the way in which the student president plotline has unfolded
