Introduction 𖦹
Hello everyone! My name is Maddox, but I more often go by the pseudonym Fink. I'm a FTM queer anarchist punk living in the American South. In university I study art and marine biology. At home I study ancient religion, literature, language, Druidry, and archeological history. I have always had a deep affection for animals and nature, and the more macabre parts of them.
I would call myself a Celtic polytheist most closely following Gaulish and Welsh belief. My patron god is Cernunnos. I'm also a practitioner, and I am most drawn to death and hearth magic. I expect this blog to be mostly my musings about my work and my research, as well as some fun stuff.
My ultimate goal is to forge community. You can imagine that in coastal North Carolina, right on the edge of the American Bible belt, there aren't that many Celtic polytheists looking for a covenant. I'm mostly solitary in my daily practice, and I want to make friends who share similar beliefs as me. That being said, Druid orders aren't really my thing, at least not right now. So this is kind of my only outlet of making community. I hope to see you around, and never be afraid to get in touch; I love talking and making friends.
Farewell for now, and blessed be.

A reminder that Kevin Danaher’s excellent “The Year in Ireland: Irish Calendar Customs” can be borrowed online for free on archive.org! It contains a wealth of recorded practices and customs for Irish holidays, including Brigid’s day, Samhain, and many other important days.

A list of "pantheons" that are fully open (that I'm aware of):
Germanic
Slavic
Baltic
Kemetic
Hellenic
Roman
Celtic
Mesopotamian
(I might miss a few more)
Fully open means that you can right away start worshipping the divinities of your choosing without any connections to ethnicity, race, skin colour and etc.
You don't have to be "called/reach out" by a deity from these paths to start worshipping them.
All you need to have is – being respectful, having patience, being aware of and learning about the traditions/practices in these paths and love the Gods!
Obviously a path/religion being open doesn't mean you can just barge right into it being all disrespectful of and disregarding the customs of these religions and cultures that are from. (Which is pretty a obvious fact, but it's better to mention it.)
Here are subreddits where you can go learn and ask more questions about the religions I have listed:
r/heathenry
r/Rodnovery
r/BalticPaganism
r/Kemetic
r/Hellenism
r/RomanPaganism
r/Paganacht
r/Sumer
I guess a short and (very simple) post, but still. I wish y'all all the best and let the Gods guide you.
PS. In general the rule (or I guess, a pattern) of a "pantheon" being open, roughly speaking is – if a certain path has no surviving continuity to the modern times, which the ones listed don't have, (and if someone tries to convince you otherwise, you can know that they're full of shit). Worth also noting that, if you see someone talking about the necessity of being connected by "blood and soil" while talking about the paths I mentioned above, you found a nazi/"folkist", and better stay far away from them.

How do you feel about the term "Paganacht" as a name for Celtic Reconstructionism?

I didn’t think my cooking was that bad...
So, the other day I made a beef stew, nothing fancy but it was the first time I’d made a stew. I thought that this might make a good offering to An Dagda, for various reasons. So I served him the first portion of that, plus a portion of my drink for the night, and made it an offering.
I checked to see if the offering was accepted later on, and I guess it wasn’t.
I’m sure there’s another reason for it, but I’m kind of amused at the thought of being Gordon Ramsay’d by a deity.

Prayer to Bridie
By Morgana West (2002)
On this day,
as we kindle the flame in our hearts,
We pray that the flame of Bridie
ignites in our souls,
and the souls of all we meet.
We pray that no envy and malice,
no hatred or fear,
may smother the flame.
We pray that indifference and apathy,
contempt and pride,
may not pour like cold water on the flame.
Instead,
may the spark of Bridie
light the love in our souls
so that it might burn brightly
throughout the year.
May we warm those that are lonely;
our light guide those who are lost,
so that all may know the comfort of
Bridie’s Love.
