Hello,
I have a question about your journey with priesthood and training. What kinds of places did you search for information on priesthood? What is training like? Is it difficult?
What would someone do if they want to be called to priesthood, but the God that they're devoted to doesn't wish for them to pursue it? I don't know if I'll ever be called, I've asked about it to Him. And he said "not yet." But I don't know if that was a "not yet", in the sense of a no or if it's just that I'm not ready yet.
Hi! So I always had an interest in priesthood and other religious devotional paths, so when I started practicing hellenic polytheism, I wondered if pagans had priests. Turns out they do lol. After quite a few years, and about 5 years of worshipping Nyx, I asked her if she was calling me to be a priestess of her. Only after confirmations and consideration did except to start training.
My training started with a lot of shadow work and learning communication, and that was the easiest part. Researching priesthood isn't easy, so you have to proceed with caution and make sure to cross-reference sources. John Beckett on Patheos has some pretty decent posts on his priesthood and there are a few people on here with some super informative blogs on priesthood. Looking at ancient priesthood might help as well, and books about ancient greek religion in general are pretty great for that. It's also worth mentioning that there are many ways to be a priest and not everyone's training and roles will look the same.
If you want to be a priest for a deity, communicating with them is very important. Without communication, it's much more difficult to serve a deity.
Hopefully this helps, and if not, feel free to ask more questions☆

Aphrodite Is You, and You are Her.
If a goddess can be Unholy, Killer of Men, the Dark One, the Gravedigger, but also The Heavenly, The Golden. The Mother, so can you.
She who was considered perfection, although she embodied violence, unholiness, sin, and bloodshed.
She who was adored and worshipped, she who was chained in Sparta for her skill in battle.
She is the Mother of Love, of Grace and of Harmony.
She is the Mother of Fear, of Panic, of Desire, and Revenge of the Scorned.
She is the lover of war, sister to Chaos and Destruction.
She is a goddess who brings life through love, and death through passion. She is the goddess who protects women, who kills the ones who have scorned Her.
She carries with her the love that drives men to insanity, and the passion that drives artists to create.
She is a punisher, a killer, a warrior. She is a wife, a mother, a goddess. She is Aphrodite of War, and Aphrodite the Heavenly.
She is of the ocean that cleanses, of the ocean that destroys cities and civilizations.
She is the one who will punish those who have scorned you, and she will drip with blood and pearls and gold.
She may be the goddess of love and romance, but do not forget she is sister to Chaos and Destruction, sister to the Furies, lover of War and mother of Fear and Panic.
She is beautiful, she is Heavenly. She is mutilated, and she is Unholy. She can be made of sunlight and flowers, and blood and bones. She is not always beautiful, because sometimes love and passion are ugly and twisted things.
She is holy and a sinner. She is perfection, and she is beloved.
She is Aphrodite the Dark One. Aphrodite the Mother. She is you, and you are her, because you both have holiness, have sin, have love.
Embody not only the pure, sacred, Aphrodite the Golden, Aphrodite the Heavenly, Aphrodite of The Gardens: but also the bloody, sinful, Aphrodite Killer of Men, Aphrodite the Gravedigger, and Aphrodite the Unholy, the Aphrodite that Greece tried to erase, the Aphrodite that was remembered even today because people do not forget the gods that they carry with them.
She will walk with you, and she will share your sins and your accomplishments, and then she will lay you down into your grave with a kiss.
No matter your looks or religion or your birth, the holiness inside you is not simply purity and lack of sin. It is purity and blood and violence and sin and everything that makes you human. That is Perfection, and Perfection is you. That is the message of Our Holy Aphrodite.

𝕸𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖗, 𝕸𝖆𝖎𝖉𝖊𝖓 & 𝕮𝖗𝖔𝖓𝖊
First, we have a crescent moon that is in a growing stage. In the center, there is a circle representing the full moon. Last but not least, the crescent denotes the diminishing moon.
Triple Moon is considered to be symbolic of all things divine feminine power – from intuition to creative energy, and wisdom. It indicates the three life stages of a woman.
The waning moon symbolizes the Maiden through innocence, youth, new life, starts, rebirth, excitement, witchcraft, and growth.
The full moon represents the Mother: fulfillment, fertility, ripeness, potency, understanding, caring, security, and authority.
The waxing moon symbolizes the Crone: serenity, maturity, knowledge, experience, knowledge, wisdom, fulfillment, death and rebirth. In its whole, the symbol is associated with the eternal cycle of birth, life, and rebirth.
Sometimes called the Triple Goddess symbol, the triple moon is frequently seen on the crowns or headpieces worn by the High Priestesses.
Each aspect within the Triple Goddess is associated with particular seasons and other natural phenomena, as well as human characteristics and elements of life on Earth. These associations can be used to call on the appropriate aspect of the Goddess during magical work, ritual worship, and prayer.
The Maiden is represented by the waxing moon and associated with the start of the growing cycle of late winter and springtime. The Wheel of the Year sabbats Imbolc, Ostara and Beltane are associated with the Maiden phase of the Triple Goddess. The Maiden represents beauty, fresh potential and new life. In human beings, she is associated with the qualities of innocence, youth, self-confidence, intelligence and independence, and with activities relating to exploration, discovery, self-expression, and creativity. Goddesses who represent the Maiden include the Greek goddesses Persephone and Artemis, the Celtic Rhiannon, and/or the Nordic Freya, among others.
The Mother phase of life is represented by the full moon- the fullest part of your life. In the Wheel of the Year it is associated with the harvests of Lughnasadh and Mabon. In the human realm, she is associated with nurturing, responsibility, adulthood and the fullness of life. As the giver of life, she is the aspect most associated with manifestation. Goddesses who represent the Mother include the Greek Demeter and Selene, the Roman Ceres, and the Celtic Danu and Badb.
The Crone phase of life is represented by the waning moon- when the cycle comes to an end and a new beginning starts. The Crone is full of wisdom and life experience. In the Wheel of the Year she is associated with Samhain and Yule, when the days shorten and the growing season officially ends. The Crone is the wise elder aspect of the Goddess, and governs aging and endings, death and rebirth, and past lives, as well as transformations, visions, prophecy, and guidance. Although feared as an archetype for millennia, she is the one who reminds us that death is part of the life cycle, just as the Moon's dark phase precedes the New Moon. The Crone is often represented by goddesses associated with death and the underworld, such as the Greek Hecate, the Russian Baba Yaga, and the Celtic Morrigan and Cailleach Bear.
The Triple Goddess is indeed a diverse and complex expression of the divine feminine. For those who worship her, she provides constant opportunities to learn and grow through connecting to her three aspects. Whether you recognize ancient goddesses as aspects of the Triple Goddess, or simply honor the Maiden, Mother, and Crone archetypes, you can make a conscious effort to align your worship with the cycles of the Moon for an even deeper, more rewarding spiritual connection.

Let me make this very clear:
When it comes to Hellenic Polytheism, there is no human religious authority, especially not one that stands before or speaks for the gods.
It does not matter what someone tells you. It does not matter if they claim to be a priestess/priest of X deity or a messenger for Y deity. It does not matter what their supposed past life was like. It does not matter if they claim to be the literal fucking Oracle of Apollo.
No one has the right to tell you how to worship the gods. No one has the right to assert their authority over your religion.
And most of all, remember that people can and do lie.
#helpol#hellenic polytheism#hellenic pagan#deity worship#hellenic worship#deity work#tagging this with non-helpol tags because i feel this is a message even the wider pagan community needs to hear#the amount of people I've met who pose as some religious authority is genuinely disgusting#many of these people claimed these things in order to control others in some way#i think that's honestly fucking revolting#as a disclaimer: if you have it in your own practice that you are a “priestess/priest” that's fine#but do no attempt to assert some sort of self-given authority over others#because at the end of day your experience is just that: YOUR experience#do not force others to conform to YOUR experience; they have their OWN experience to learn from#paganblr#polytheism#paganism#pagan#reminder

Comparison of Minoan, Mycenaean, Sogdian, & Khwarazm artworks 17th C. BCE - 4th C. CE
When I came across the Khwarazm (aka Chorasmian) murals I remembered this red-eared priestess from Thera. Their large eyebrows, red-painted ears, extremely light skin tone, and general facial features look very similar to each other despite being over 1,000 years apart and in different regions of the world. Other than that their clothing, jewelry, and hairstyle are quite different. I couldn't figure out what the significance of the red ears were, though Jason Earle speculates it might be an artistic depiction of a person hearing something divine from a deity (Cosmetics and Cult Practices in the Bronze Age Aegean? A Case Study of Women with Red Ears). These are the only images I've come across, that I can recall, of people with their ears painted red so I felt like comparing them.
The Erkurgan fragment has red solar symbols very similar to the Mycenaean plaster head. Again these two pieces of art are over 1,000 years apart and in different geographic locations. I don't know who the Erkurgan fragment should be attributed to, but this was a place in the heart of Sogdiana. I assume it represents a Sogdian because of location and time period, but that's just my assumption. Solar symbols appear in basically all civilizations, but I've never come across these specific red styled ones (that I can recall) except in these two instances. In both instances they appear on the cheeks, forehead, and probably the chin (the Erkurgan fragment's chin is damaged but seems to have some red paint). Again, seeing this unique symbol made me feel I should compare the two. From what I've read all the images here are generally thought to be depictions of females with religious significance.

In all honesty, I was having a rough day in my journey towards being a priestess today. I felt unworthy, and like there were so many better choices for the job. With this mindset I went in to a reading with Lady Aphrodite, asking her to tell me what I needed to hear. I pulled the high priestess. Sometimes a little reassurance goes a long way, and today I thank Lady Aphrodite for this piece of reassurance.

I dreamt about Hermes last night, which is interesting. I've never dreamt about one of my gods before. It felt like more proof that he was with me, that he's the path I've been destined to take.
I don't remember everything, but I remember before I fell asleep there was a buzzing sensation in me. I'm used to that in a way, it happens whenever I'm about to have sleep paralysis. But I didn't have that last night. Instead, I was dreaming but still somehow awake. I was aware that I was still awake. But I saw Hermes. First in a haze, then more and more clearly. We were both falling, at least I was falling. He had a smile on his face and it made me not afraid of hitting the ground. I think at some point he reached out and grabbed my hand but this is where a lot of the dream starts to get hazy.
There was a lot of shapes and images, I think at one point I saw a dragon but I can't say for certain. Then my sleep got a little deeper, but I was aware that I was more at the crossroads of falling asleep but still aware that I was awake. Sounds weird, I know but that's the only way I can describe it.
I was walking through some sort of cave, in my pajamas, and Hermes stood at the edge of a pool of water. There was a waterfall behind him but when he saw me he smiled. He was tall, and as I got closer to him I thought "I expected gods to be giants". Almost like he heard me his smile broadened and he did in fact get bigger. Not ginormous, but much bigger than me. I think he was hunoring my silly thoughts.
Somehow I remember what he looked like in my dream. He had his winged helmet, and his hair was brown and curly and the helmet pushed his curls into his face and covered his eyes. But he clearly had no trouble seeing. He was shirtless except for a sash across his chest and cloth wrapped around his waist and he wore his winged sandals. He was also buff. Not like insanely so, but very muscular and tanned. But the most noticeable thing was that he sorta glowed with a pale yellow light. His whole body seemed to glow and my dream self rationalized it like "Oh he flies around and is exposed to Apollon's light all the time so it makes sense he'd glow with rays of the sun. He carries Apollon's light sometimes." Mind you, he wasn't always glowing. Just when I got closer to him.
I think he spoke to me, but I don't remember what was said. I do remember feeling like a child next to him, and when he had gotten larger he let me cling to his bicep and hold onto him. He was incredibly warm and comforting. The last thing I remember is looking up at his face and that big broad smile of his flashing pearly white teeth.
I think I somewhat woke up after that and then fell asleep properly into a completely different kind of dream, but that one stood out the most to me and I wanted to share it.
Now that I'm awake, I distinctly remember thinking to myself how desperately I'd want to be his priestess last night. I don't think I thought about it enough to influence a dream as it was just a passing thought, and I've never had a dream like that before with that level of conscious awareness. It didn't feel like a dream, it felt like communication. And maybe I'm misinterpreting it, but it felt like he acknowledged my wishes and wants me to reach that aspiration someday. That it's an open invitation to reach for it. And that he'll be watching my progress.
I'm a very new follower of his, and I know the path of priestesshood is a long and dedicating road. I'm not so full of myself to think he was telling me to start training for it so early in my devotions, especially as a closeted devotee. But maybe, just maybe...

E-TEMPLE LOCKDOWN
My mom literally Made me freak out over a freaking text box When making the new site and she literally threatened to make my dad search through my computer, so i'm going to clear my browser History and log out of Tumblr If she literally does act on it. Because I tried explaining that It's literally just a text box and she asked me to show her it, which would reveal every single thing about my religion (I'm closeted). So I won't be active or creating the new website for about a day So prepare for a lockdown, I'm logging out later
EDIT: I'm making a decoy site for koalas on google sites so I'll not share the REAL site

Deities and the USAmerican election
I'm sure many of us have seen media claiming that the gods are upset over the election results. And some people may feel that the deities they worship are upset. The issue comes when one publicly posts about it for all to see. The gods don't adhere to the same morals as humans. They don't see things like we do. It's important to remember that many people who worship the gods aren't from the U.S.A. Additionally, many beginners may feel fear or uncertainty when reaching out to the gods for the first time due to an increase in posts involving the gods in politics. It's okay to be upset, it's okay to talk about how you feel and find comfort in the gods during this time. What's not okay is going out and mixing your own feelings with those of the gods and unintentionally breeding fear in our community.

𝕹𝖊𝖜 𝕸𝖔𝖔𝖓 𝖎𝖓 𝕷𝖊𝖔 🌑
On August 4th, the New Moon graces the sign of Leo, heralding a period of dynamic energy, creativity, and personal empowerment. Leo, ruled by the radiant Sun, is a sign of self-expression, courage, and heart-centered action. This New Moon is a powerful time for setting intentions related to personal growth, leadership, and embracing your authentic self.
During this New Moon, Mercury in Virgo forms a supportive trine to Jupiter in Taurus, enhancing our communication skills and expanding our ability to manifest abundance. Venus, also in Leo, is retrograde, inviting us to revisit themes of self-love, relationships, and values. These energies together create a potent mix for deep introspection and forward momentum.
Sun and Moon Conjunction in Leo:
When the Sun and Moon align in Leo, there is a fusion of conscious will and subconscious desires, creating a powerful moment for self-discovery and personal growth. Leo’s influence encourages us to step into the spotlight, embrace our individuality, and express our true selves without fear or hesitation.
Mercury Trine Jupiter:
Mercury in Virgo forms a harmonious trine with Jupiter in Taurus, enhancing communication, learning, and growth. This aspect supports our ability to think big, plan effectively, and communicate our ideas with clarity and confidence. It’s an excellent time for setting goals related to education, travel, and expanding one’s horizons.
Venus Retrograde in Leo:
Venus is retrograde in Leo, prompting a review of our relationships, values, and self-worth. This period invites us to reflect on how we express love and affection, both to ourselves and others. It’s a time for healing old wounds, reassessing what truly matters, and aligning our values with our actions.
Intuitive Insights
Heart-Centered Intentions
Leo rules the heart, making this New Moon a time to focus on intentions that come from a place of love and authenticity. Ask yourself what truly brings you joy and fulfillment. Set goals that align with your passions and your heart’s deepest desires.
Creative Expression
Leo’s energy is inherently creative and expressive. Use this New Moon to explore new forms of artistic expression, whether through writing, painting, music, or any other creative outlet. Allow yourself to play and experiment without worrying about perfection.
Personal Empowerment
This is a time to reclaim your personal power. Let go of self-doubt and embrace your strengths. Leo’s influence encourages you to take bold steps towards your goals, to lead with confidence, and to inspire others with your courage and authenticity.
Embracing Authenticity
Leo’s ruling planet, the Sun, symbolizes our core identity and true self. This New Moon is an invitation to embrace who you truly are, without masks or pretenses. Authenticity attracts genuine connections and opportunities, so let your inner light shine brightly.
Astrological Events with the New Moon
Mars in Virgo Opposite Saturn in Pisces
This aspect may bring some challenges, as Mars in Virgo’s desire for action and precision is tempered by Saturn in Pisces’ call for patience and introspection. It’s a reminder to balance ambition with mindfulness, to take deliberate and well-thought-out actions.
Uranus in Taurus Square Venus in Leo
The square between Uranus and Venus can bring unexpected changes in relationships and finances. It’s a time to stay flexible and open to new possibilities, even if they disrupt your current plans. Embrace change as a catalyst for growth and transformation.
