Eduardo Paes re-elected mayor of Rio de Janeiro by landslide
Tumblr media
The current mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, has been elected for another four years in the city’s top job. As of 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, just over two hours after the polls closed, the ballot boxes registered 60 percent of valid votes for Mr. Paes and 31 percent for Congressman Alexandre Ramagem, his main opponent among the eight who ran against him.
Rio is the second largest economy in Brazil and the country’s most famous tourist destination, making it one of the most important mayoral races.
The result came as little surprise, given that polls during the campaign already showed Mr. Paes with a substantial lead. However, Mr. Ramagem made significant advances in recent weeks.
This will be Mr. Paes’s fourth non-consecutive term, having won elections in 2008, 2012, and 2020. With this, he became the politician to have won most terms as Rio de Janeiro mayor.

the amount of times i’ve been asked by coworkers, friends, & family with concerned eyes who i’ll vote for in the coming presidential election. the amount of times zionists have replied to my instagram comments, condescendingly promising me that palestinians would hate all that i am, would spit on my support, & happily hurt me if they could……& the amount of times i have cried & wanted to scream my rage to those who believe this is all there is of the world, all there can be. this ugly, terrifying reality where innocents are no longer innocents & their oppressing forces are praised, & acclaimed by all those with influence & power. & then i remind myself that rome crumbled into memory, as did the slave trade, & the british empire. i remember that though the settlers conquered & laid waist, the indigenous remain steadfast. i think of the words of ursula k. le guin – “we live in capitalism, its power seems inescapable — but then, so did the divine right of kings. any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings.” – & i know this is not the end of us, not the end of palestine, of sudan, of the congo, of yemen, of lebanon, of the amazon, of aotearoa, of ka pae aina, & of turtle island. of any land or peoples who must resist to survive, to find some life amongst the terrors. 2024 is the year we hold fast, embrace the storm – for it is coming – & hold to each other in solidarity, in unity, in revolution. i am not free without the freedom of all. & the powers of the world – musk, biden, trump, putin, harris, netanyahu, & more – would do well to remember that they are the few & we are the many. & they cannot silence us all.

KE AUPUNI UPDATE - NOVEMBER 2024
Tumblr media
Celebrating La Ku'oko'a – Independence Day On November 28, 1843 (181 years ago) the Kingdom of France and the United Kingdom formally recognized the Sandwich Islands (the Hawaiian Kingdom) as a sovereign, independent nation-state. In Hawaii, King Kamehameha III declared the date a national holiday and La Ku'oko'a was joyously celebrated as a holiday in the Kingdom for over 50 years! That is, until 1895 when it so happened the American holiday “Thanksgiving Day” fell on November 28. The usurping “Republic of Hawaii”, trying to curry favor for annexation, made the American Thanksgiving Day, the national holiday instead of La Ku'oko'a. From then on, under increasing American domination, the Hawaiian Kingdom high holiday of La Ku'oko'a was overshadowed, fell by the wayside and lost to memory. But about 30 years ago an intrepid group of Aloha ʻĀina (Hawaii patriots), led by Papa Kekuni Blaisdell started to revive the observance of La Kuʻokoʻa, along with La Hoʻihoʻi Ea which had also been forgotten. Ever since, these holidays have been increasingly celebrated with activities and events in several communities throughout the Pae ʻĀina, our nation. It so happens that this year, the American Thanksgiving Day falls on November 28, the day of La Ku'oko'a… Let's see if we can turn this 181st anniversary into an opportunity to increase and spread awareness of the significance of La Ku’oko'a among our friends and families… This is the perfect opportunity for those who celebrate the tradition of Thanksgiving to take a few minutes that day to share with our families and friends about the significance of La Ku'oko'a, Hawaii's Independence Day and to give thanks that our country survived despite 131 years of efforts to erase our true identity and suppress our existence. Telling our stories like La Ku’oko'a will help to awaken in our people a sense of pride in our heritage and help fuel the vision of Hawaii as a vibrant independent country! This is an opportunity to effectively teach more of our 'ohana, in the intimacy of our homes, about the story of Hawaii's Independence Day and that, because of the wisdom and courage of Queen Liliʻuokalani and our kūpuna who stood in solidarity with her, that we are positioned and empowered to bring our country out of captivity! In this intimate setting with loved ones all over the islands and, indeed, all over the world, we can reach more people than a series of public rallies. And what if families posted a shout-out to La Kuʻokoʻa on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, etc? Every time we tell our country's story, it affirms who we are; it becomes more personal; it becomes our story… and the fervor for restoration of our nation spreads.
“Love of country is deep-seated in the breast of every Hawaiian, whatever his station.” — Queen Liliʻuokalani ---------- Ua mau ke ea o ka ʻāina i ka pono. The sovereignty of the land is perpetuated in righteousness. ------ For the latest news and developments about our progress at the United Nations in both New York and Geneva, tune in to Free Hawaii News at 6 PM the first Friday of each month on ʻŌlelo Television, Channel 53. ------ "And remember, for the latest updates and information about the Hawaiian Kingdom check out the twice-a-month Ke Aupuni Updates published online on Facebook and other social media." PLEASE KŌKUA… Your kōkua, large or small, is vital to this effort... To contribute, go to:   • GoFundMe – CAMPAIGN TO FREE HAWAII • PayPal – use account email: [email protected] • Other – To contribute in other ways (airline miles, travel vouchers, volunteer services, etc...) email us at: [email protected] All proceeds are used to help the cause. I wanna ask about the JSaBsonas, actually! I'm intrigued about all of them, so if you could say a few words about each one or at least how they came to be, that would be nice, but if you want to focus on a specific one - I'm curious to know more about the sunny one, top right.
Alright,
we'll be going in this order: 006, "Sunny", "Crown", and "Pae-ki" Here we go. Forgive me for using the same old art, it's the only rendered stuff I have of them 😅
🎵 Dancing on Our Disasters by Calavera

alt song: 🎵 Granite by Shirobon
The very first was 006, or "Six". All the way back in Sep 2021, I had the idea of creating a shapesona. At the time I had certain.. feelings, about JSB and my identity surrounding it. I definitely see those feelings represented in the character now.
Six is a professional JSB player in a world where the game is in AR. They're reclusive, obsessive. Attention seeking. And they dance. Oh, they dance until they no longer can.
Some of you had the chance of talking with them on April Fools of 2022; I liked that. It was very fun to write them, and I wish I could do it again. Maybe in the form of their own roleplay/ask blog, just like I always intended.
🎵 A New Day by Danimal Cannon
Tumblr media
alt song: 🎵 Same Song by DEFENSE MECHANISM
Second persona is a character I've nicknamed "Sunny."
I started a continuation of a previously failed project under a pseudonym, a persona. It wasn't until Jun 2021 when I gave that persona her design... I think it helps when I'm writing as them.
There's currently not much character story to them, other than she exists in the same world as Six. She gets burnout often but never gives up. It's not over til it's over.
I'm sure you've seen a certain one of my projects so far. Maybe it was obvious from the beginning, maybe it just clicked now, or you're still lost. Those who know, I want you to know this aswell: I'm not being sneaky, I'm just anxious. When I'm tired of pretending and gain the confidence to put my face on these projects, I do plan on just using them as the mascot.
🎵 Ecstacy by Nitro Fun & Rob Gasser
Tumblr media
alt song: 🎵 Fracture by Shirobon
Third is the crown. It doesn't have a name, and it probably won't - Jan 2024
Ok, this ones strange. I've been invited to play a certain fangame a few times, and one of their available shapes is a crown. The crown is just the shape I played with. Nothing else, nothing more. It will never be something greater, involving me.
So what about that art...well.... I think I'm just going through post-JSB:FE depression 😭 ... Recently I've been thinking about the "maybes", alot of "what ifs" And if I'll be honest with myself, I need to let those go.
🎵 happy camper by laamaa
Tumblr media
alt song: 🎵 DON'T STOP by DEFENSE MECHANISM
And last, but not least, is my actual JSB/shapesona!
They currently have no real name (idk you can call them my ingame name "GUAC" lol,) but for records sake I've been using "Pae-ki". I first drew them up in Oct 2023, around when I first played The Fangame.
They are just, me! Lover of 'Close to Me', unreasonable hater of 'First Crush', and protector of triangle players. An "OG god" as some say. (I'm not sure what else to say that isn't just me talking about myself. idk, I still play Challenge Runs, come join me on NSwitch or Steam)
I'm still working on their design.. I wanted to incorporate mementos from all the JSB-like things I got to do. They were always going to have a crown.
[it's been 3 months I'm not working on this ask anymore, I'm just happy to have it out GOOD LIRD]

Pokemon Challenge 2024! #1137 Cruxie.
Cruxie is the second evolution of the Legendary star Starama, and is also Fairy/Fire type. Cruxie is based on the Crux constellation, which is called the Southern Cross or Te Pae Mahutoka in New Zealand and is one of our most recognisable and important constellations, used for navigation and also significant in mythology. Cruxie's stars look so playful to me, it makes me happy to think of it hanging out in the sky each night.

Carnival extravaganza kicks off in Brazil
The festivities will last for six days, with 49 million people across Brazil participating, according to authorities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To thunderous applause, Rio de Janeiro’s mayor coronated King Momo, marking the beginning of the symbolic Carnival monarch’s five-day reign over the revelry which began on Friday. “I officially declare Carnival 2024 open!” King Momo said after Mayor Eduardo Paes bestowed upon him a gigantic, silver and gold key. Confetti flew in a hall of the Palace of the City in the Botafogo neighbourhood where the ceremony took place. Looking on were the usual suspects of Rio’s Carnival scene: revellers dressed as folkloric characters, jaguars and “bate-bolas” – exuberant clowns in identical, elaborate outfits who travel in packs. Festivities will last through to February 14.
