i love so many different manners of smells that i could not possibly have one single fragrance i wear everyday. i would say that, historically, my designated favourites have been miss dior cherie (RIP this one, i really loved it when i was a young girl. funnily enough i don't remember it being a gourmand, i just remember a sparkly, fruity rose), dior poison (so edgy of me LOL but i've always loved the 90s plum/berries and the iris powdery lipstick smell), ysl opium (still a staple when it comes to spicy perfumes) & diorissimo (basically every white flower you can imagine).

Apart from fragrances what is your favorite smell (can be a dessert or food or rain or anything!)

lavender. i'm obsessed with it. the soapy, clean kind. it's just so comforting. also clean musk scents that mimic fresh laundry. i have a couple & can't get enough of them. i've decided that this scent profile is what brat summer smells like 😂 also another one that's similar would be paco rabanne - olympea because it's fresh and clean but it has a cool salty, marine kick to it that's unexpected. i used up both my ysl libre & olympea dupes this summer. (another thing about me is that i love a good dupe, i'm not going broke bc of this hobby. i do not care for the IP of multi-million dollar corporations so don't @ me)

Do you like scented candles or wax melts?

yes! i would be betraying my white womanhood if i said no! 😂 my bf & i are planning on finishing some because we've accummulated quite a few and there's no space for new ones. pumpkin, lemon cake, biscuit, deep dark roses, lavender, a saltier fresh one, a couple of autumn apple ones..............

Do you prefer more manly colognes or perfumes?

not really, no. i think men's fragrances often smell very boring. most of them are 'nice' i guess, but ultimately very boring and lacking nuance. citrus, conifers etc. ultimately it is kind of a dumb idea to gender smells but i'm not really interested in "smelling like a man" in the traditional understanding of the concept. that being said, there are a couple of male-targeted perfumes i would purchase for myself and wear: egoiste by chanel (smells like cough syrup!), dior homme (that powdery lipstick smell i mentioned), dior fahrenheit (gasoline, violets, vanilla?? it's been a while since i smelt it). my dad is a big fan of jean paul gaultier le male and i have to say, the wormwood note intrigues me (it's a component of absinthe) + the lavender and cardamom. as classic male ingredients, i'm a fan of cedar and vetiver, too (idk if patchouli should be in this category as well)

What scents do you prefer on men?

unusual ones! ones that you wouldn't really expect a man to wear! my bf & i sampled habit rouge by guerlain this sunday in sephora and it wore really well on him! so did my baccarat rouge dupe. boozy perfumes are always a hit - surprisingly, in this category, the BENTLEY for men has a really cool rum note and is basically unisex. i know tom ford is overrated and overpriced, but i would be lying if i said i didn't stan. i love so many from their collection, both on me and on my bf: velvet orchid, tobacco vanille, ombre leather, bitter peach (this last one is irresistible). the lost cherry fragrances may be flat and not super complex, but if you LOVE smelling different versions of cherry like i do, you won't need anything else. that almond smell is just mouth-watering i'm sorry

other perfumes from my bf's collection i love are deep forest and red tobacco from mancera, no limits by philipp plein (the bottle looks ridiculous but it smells like sage and that's not really a common note) and patchouli on fire by afnan

Do you prefer your lotions (if you use) to be scented?

yes, absolutely! i'm not a body lotion person (i find it a hassle to keep rubbing them on such a large surface) but who doesn't love a nicely-scented hand cream? i'm not super pretentious here, as long as it absorbs quickly (not a fan of the sticky leftover feel) and it smells "nice", i'm good! love a classic blue container nivea smell

Do you like hair scent sprays?

i like the concept of hair sprays but i have curly/wavy hair and it's not good for me if it has alcohol bc it dries out the curls and ruins the texture so idk. can't say i have tried any

to wrap it up, i also love gourmands in general 😂 i've been working on finishing some bottles to make space for britney spears - fantasy & midnight fantasy - i had them when i was younger and i want to repurchase them out of nostalgia - they're great & smelling like a cupcake is an underrated slay

BIOGRAPHY

Deepti was born in a loving family back in busy Dehli. Her father Zahir, took over the reins of his family restaurant that he ran with his wife, Jiya. Her parents were barely in their twenties when Deepti was born, bringing much joy and happiness to their family, which only grew from that point. Deepti is able to say she counts four siblings, which made for a crowded and very crowded household. In Dehli, Deepti remembers having been the most happy. Looking back fondly to the festivals, the temples she visited with her family. The community and way of life was one she thought she would never have to miss. But when she was sixteen, Deepti’s parents decided to move out of the country for political reasons, and she had to say goodbye to her dear Dehli.

They settled down in Providence Peak, Colorado. A place that barely resembled her old neighbourhood, her own home. Her father had made enough with his restaurant that they were able to settle in a house large enough for the seven of them, even starting a new restaurant within the town’s center: the House of Dehlicasies, a name chosen by her brother who always did love a good pun. Having to finish ‘high school’ in the USA was strange to say the least, and after discussion between her parents and the school she, along with her other siblings, would have to redo a whole year to acclimatize to their new surroundings. Deepti didn’t mind, feeling rather overwhelmed by everything and everyone. Having to survive in the American system definitely hardened Deepti, who along with her siblings were often the target for bullying due to their accents, the fact they had their father’s homemade cooking to school and the fact they weren’t as sharp to American customs and sayings as their peers were. Going to college, Deepti definitely adjusted, standing her ground and not letting anything drag her down. She didn’t have a lot of friends but the few she did create are ones to last a lifetime.  

Deepti graduated college in a degree for business and management, always having been great with schedules and numbers. She worked for numerous of companies through her life; ranging from law firms to an accountant firm and even for the government at some point, which is where she met Lewis Negan, a gallant officer in the U.S. Army who swept Deepti off her feet. Out of the flings and short relationships she had, she never pictured herself to be able to fall as hard as this. It didn’t take them long to get engaged, getting him as far as to want to settle in Providence Peak so she could be close with her family, which was a good call.

Her mother began to forget things, and not in a way where she couldn’t find her keys or mixed up the names of her children, but important chunks of information. When the twitching in her hand started, Zahir took her to the hospital where she was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. This being an inherited disorder, Zahir and Jiya brought their children up to speed as soon as possible, leaving it to each of them to get tested or not. Deepti decided to do so, and was faced with the horrible truth that she was indeed a carrier of the mutation, meaning that she would start showing symptoms between 35 and 55 years old. Being thirty-four, Deepti felt her clock had begun to ran out at a rapid pace. She hoped for the support of her Lewis, but not being able to deal with the idea of having to take care of his wife at an early age, Lewis decided to end their engagement and left Providence Peak.

For the last year, Deepti has put her energy into renovating her home that she now inhabits alone. She’s also quit her job so that she can help her father run the restaurant and is working there fulltime so he can spend time with his wife. Deepti has definitely become bitter about the newfound information of her health and the inevitable ending of her life. Why make memories when in the end she will forget them after after all? With her 35th birthday coming closer, Deepti definitely feels like she is spiraling.

also i am curious... i know you've talked about this before but i only vaguely remember, and i want a more indepth answer... what kind of perfumes/scents in general do you like wearing? anything you really hate smelling like?

hehehe well let me start off by saying that perfumes jeonghan uses (ormaie no28 and creed virgin island water) are something i love 🤓 now to me and my perfumes:

let me start of by saying i’ve been using and collecting perfumes since i was very young (8 or 9yo) - my mom always had a big collection and i was influenced what can i say! I have three things i like to embody: clean and light 🧼, edible 🍮 and fun and flirty 🪷. So with all that being said i am very picky with my deodorant too (i use borotalco which smells like baby powder) and i layer my perfumes with body butters, oils and lotions. Also, certain outfits require certain scent so i always match them too! Now let me get into the categories:

🧼 my first “clean” smelling perfume was donna karan be delicious. for SURE not everyone’s cup of tea - it smells like fresh green apple and cucumber and it’s so light and long lasting and effortless. It’s also such a unique scent. Anyway young me was obsessed. Another one i like to use now is calvin klein eternity - also fresh and clean and light. Both are very summery and not too heavy - they literally smell like you just took a shower and put on a linen dress

🍮 oh gourmands… I’ll tell you right now i love a nice rich caramel notes. And vanilla, when it’s done right, will always hit for me. Now childhood perfume that smells edible and brings out so many memories in me has to be olympea by paco rabanne… yes yes everyone has it everyone knows it but i got it just when it dropped in 2015 and i used it throughout the 2015 and 2016 which were coincidentally party girl very very fun years of my life. salty notes mixed with vanilla and it dried down so beautifully on my skin i loved it and whenever i smell it on someone it evokes very pleasant memories. Now for my gourmand of choice - i use d&g the only one (sweet caramel) for colder months and d&g garden (don’t let the name fool you, it’s a tropical coconut and vanilla mix) for summer. Sweet perfumes are always tricky to me because i get headaches and nausea if it’s too strong (looking at l'interdit rouge and hypnotic poison) or as i say it’s choking me. It took me ages to find these two and i love how they smell on my skin. oh and when i wear either of d&g ones i rub raw cocoa butter on my skin and i’ve been told multiple times i smell edible and i was like… well yes! that’s the point!

🪷 okay this one is tricky because first ones that come to mind are both (discontinued) miss dior cherie. Yes they still exist and yes they reformulated them and no they don’t smell anything like the past versions. i was 8 when i first got my first cherie and oh my! scent i’ll never forget. mix of fruits (cherry strawberry pineapple) with my beloved caramel and jasmine and with base notes of musk and patchouli. It was a lot! Second cherie is more similar to what we have now but not to the new version - it’s similar to blooming bouquets. It was fun and flirty and girly and my favorite floral smell that didn’t induce headaches. Now, if i am feeling florals (white florals!) i opt for calvin klein eternity moment and hugo boss femme. think girl in a white frilly dress and rosy cheeks and a wicker basket with fresh flowers in it - and that’s how they both smell.

and lastly, i want to talk about my newest addition that can’t really be boxed in any of these categories. Gucci Rush is something that i bought the moment my mom smelled it and said “oh this is you as a perfume”. And she was SO right. sexy, in your face, neon, intense, original i can go on. It has peach note which reminds me of a very affordable perfume i used to wear daily in high school - bruno banani woman. When i first smelled rush i said to my mom “this is bruno’s older sister”. i don’t know how else to describe it but it smells like a very chic woman but in the 90s…

i don’t really enjoy citrus scent - i find it nauseating most of the time. the only one i can think of that i have now is ck woman - it’s my moms perfume i bought it for her and on her it smells nice and fresh. On me though… it smells too much like a peppery cologne - not really something i go for. even when i was young, i never really liked them! only spice i like is warm spicy (versace crystal noir is something i liked) but just harsh citric scent is not for me (or my body chemistry apparently). my sister uses versace bright crystal which has yuzu as a top note and it STICKS to me it’s all i can smell when i wear it.

BACKSTORY

    —   jasmine  was  the  first  child  of  a  very  simple  couple,  her  father  had  an  office  job  and  her  mother  was  a  middle  school  teacher.  the  romeros  were  down  to  earth  and  grounded  people,  they  were  never  struggling  but  they  weren’t  the  most  well  off  family  around,  jasmine  never  asked  for  much  but  what  they  asked  was  always  met  with  a  life  lesson  so  they  could  earn  it.  she  never  minded,  it  built  a  strong  character  for  them  but  she  watched  kids  around  her  get  everything  they  wanted  and  she  resented  them  just  a  bit,  because  she  equated  things  with  more  attention  from  parents,  which  probably  wasn’t  the  case.  but  from  their  perspective  with  parents  that  worked  hard  to  provide  for  her  and  her  siblings  she  barely  got  to  see  them  both  at  the  same  time.

    —   as  she  grew  up  she  learned  how  to  deal  with  those  feelings,  she  pushed  them  down  and  ignored  them,  she  built  herself  a  family  out  of  friends  and  people  around  her  that  could  give  her  what  she  needed.  however,  she  continued  to  try  getting  their  parents  attention  with  simple  things,  they  always  studied  hard  and  excelled  at  school,  had  a  hand  in  multiple  extra  curricular  activities  in  school,  from  debate  team  to  sports  team  and  yearbook,  whatever  fitted  on  her  schedule.

    —   after  months  of  hiding  her  new  found  growth  from  her  parents  she  realized  hiding  further  would  not  be  feasible,  so  they  set  them  down  and  shared  the  information.  and  after  years  of  longing  for  their  undivided  attention  she  had  finally  gotten  it  in  the  worst  way  possible.  they  yelled  at  her,  on  how  she  could  be  so  dumb  and  stupid,  how  could  she  let  it  get  to  this,  everything  under  the  sun  she  was  accused  of  many  things  and  thrown  many  insults.  until  finally  their  parents  issued  an  ultimatum,  they  knew  jasmine  was  too  far  along  with  the  pregnancy,  so  they  told  her  she  had  to  give  up  the  baby  as  soon  as  it  was  born  or  she  wouldn’t  be  welcome  in  their  house  anymore,  because  how  dare  she  discard  her  future  like  this.  jaz  couldn’t  believe  the  words  that  had  left  their  parents,  she  couldn’t  possibly  imagine  giving  up  the  baby  even  only  having  it  for  a  few  months  on  her  belly  she  was  completely  in  love.  so  she  got  up  from  her  spot  in  front  of  her  parents  and  went  to  her  room  to  pack  a  small  backpack  with  a  few  clothes  and  important  things  and  was  out  the  door.  she  took  one  last  look  at  her  parents  and  they  had  made  no  indication  to  be  regretting  their  words  because  no  daughter  of  theirs  would  be  so  stupid.

    — �� jasmine  had  nowhere  to  go  after  that,  she  crashed  with  a  few  friends  as  long  as  it  was  allowed�� by  their  parents  but  after  a  month  of  this  word  had  reached  her  father’s  sister,  angie.  the  aunt  jasmine  had  always  thought  of  as  the  fun  aunt,  an  amazing  woman  she  had  looked  up  to  all  throughout  her  life,  for  being  so  unapologetically  her,  had  come  to  her  rescue.  angie  took  her  in  the  second  she  heard  about  this,  told  jasmine  she  had  to  worry  about  anything  else  that  she  could  live  with  angie  and  focus  on  school  and  taking  care  of  herself  so  her  baby  would  be  healthy.  jaz  was  extremely  grateful  and  soon  her  grades  were  back  up  from  when  they  had  suffered  from  couch  surfing.  not  long  after  jasmine  gave  birth  to  her  beautiful  baby  girl.  they  were  immediately  smitten  by  the  girl  and  had  promised  then  and  there  that  she  would  never  treat  her  baby  girl  the  way  they  had  been  treated  by  their  parents  and  would  give  her  the  best  life  that  they  could  manage.  [  pregnancy  tw  end  ]

    —   they  were  overwhelmed  at  first,  so  much  had  changed  in  so  little  time  and  she  had  struggled  to  keep  herself  going,  and  she  would  be  nowhere  if  it  wasn’t  for  the  help  of  her  best  friend  and  her  aunt,  who  before  taking  jaz  in  was  against  children,  but  helped  jaz  with  her  own  time  or  hiring  nannies  and  whatever  possible  so  jaz  had  time  to  focus  on  her  studies  and  working.

    —   with  the  help  of  her  aunt,  jasmine  was  able  to  secure  herself  a  scholarship  for  one  of  her  chosen  colleges.  she  had  an  adjustment  period  with  having  new  classes,  working  and  raising  a  baby  and  having  to  work  with  her  best  friend's  new  schedule  as  well  so  they  could  both  be  involved  parents  in  the  little  girl’s  life.  

    —   throughout  her  college  run,  she  started  needing  more  money  for  her  growing  daughter,  and  as  much  as  she  loved  her  aunt’s  help  she  couldn’t  keep  taking  her  money  for  her  expenses.  so  angie  came  up  with  a  compromise,  she  would  help  jasmine  get  a  better  job  than  the  part  time  ones  she  had  been  scrambling  for.  angie  was  a  producer,  a  director,  an  all  around  movie  mogul  and  had  every  connection  that  one  could  possibly  have  in  that  industry  and  she  could  find  jasmine  something  in  a  blink  of  an  eye,  all  she  needed  was  an  interest  of  jasmine’s  that  they  wanted  to  pursue.

    —   jasmine  had  always  had  a  knack  for  makeup,  they  enjoyed  the  beauty  of  it,  the  artistry  and  the  skill  of  it.  she  enjoyed  putting  up  makeup  and  she  enjoyed  doing  her  friends  and  family’s  makeup  for  any  school  event  growing  up.  she  knew  most  of  what  there  was  to  know  and  was  so  eager  to  learn  what  they  didn’t  know  about  it.  so  soon  enough,  angie  had  put  jaz  in  one  of  her  productions  to  shadow  the  makeup  artist,  jaz  took  the  opportunity  gleefully  and  she  loved  doing  the  work.

    —   they  managed  to  finish  her  studies  in  college  and  decided  to  pursue  the  career  of  makeup  artist,  they  took  on  more  celebrity  clients  that  she  met  through  her  aunt  or  productions  they  worked  on  and  was  now  doing  glam  for  a  lot  of  them.  along  the  way  they  picked  up  instagram  and  tiktok  and  started  recording  their  journey  on  their  career  and  soon  they  had  a  following  that  was  so  interested  in  how  the  glam  days  of  celebrities  happened,  and  the  life  of  a  young  and  upcoming  makeup  artist.    —   now  jaz  has  recently  started  their  own  makeup  brand  (  think  makeup  by  mario,  fenty,  rare  that’s  basically  it  )  and  has  a  beautiful  10  year  old  daughter  and  can  give  her  all  the  love,  attention  and  everything  really. 

PERSONALITY

        —   jasmine  is  an  extremely  charismatic  person,  they  are  very  friendly  and  will  try  to  make  everyone  talking  to  them  at  ease  no  matter  what.  they  have  a  contagious  smile  when  it  comes  out  for  real  and  will  always  lend  an  ear  for  anyone  that  needs  to  vent.

    —   they  are  a  typical  introverted  extrovert,  they  are  quiet  and  to  themselves  most  of  the  time,  they  don’t  go  out  of  their  way  to  be  the  life  of  the  party  or  anything  like  that.  they  would  most  prefer  a  quiet  night  cuddled  in  a  blanket  than  going  out.  but  when  they  are  forced  to  go  out,  they  will  socialize  with  everyone,  have  a  great  time  and  be  a  good  time.
