Not sure if I’ll ever forgive the HIMYM creative team for tearing these two apart in the finale (spoilers)

I know the plan was always for Robin and Ted to be endgame. But characters take on a life for themselves once they leave the page and NPH and Cobie had this incredible spark that just sang ‘meant to be.’

Anyway. I’m procrastinating packing again partially because the Dust I’ve been disturbing is wreaking havoc on my allergies.

Everyone keeps telling me this move will be temporary. But with the cost of rent and the lack of living wage jobs… this world is not designed with the single person in mind.

I did a how i met your mother rewatch recently. Unpopular opinion but I actually enjoy himym more than friends. I don't like how it ends ofcourse but i thoroughly enjoy watching 8 out of the 9 seasons. The case with friends is I select episodes to watch. 

Anyway is there a real explanation as to why did himym end the way it ended? I feel like if they had tweaked a few things, the ending could still have worked. For example, I was never team Ted- Robin but if we could see Ted grieve after the mother dies, the ending would have felt much better. But they packed so much into that one last episode there was no time for them to show the grief. 

When season 9 came out, my biggest concern was will I like the mother? Kudos to the executives I fell in love with the mother but then they had to go and kill the mother and give us that crappy ending. 

I won't even go into Barney's ending. Maybe some other day when I do a rewatch. But i still enjoy the dialogues, comedy and the presentation of the show.

I agree, How I Met Your Mother was much more clever and funny than Friends.

Remember when I've said that any creator claiming they have a Master Plan is a liar?  Except the duo creators of HIMYM did have a Master Plan with Ted and Robin ending up together.  Had the show ended in season 5 or earlier, that would have worked.  But by season 9 it no longer worked but the creators stuck with the original plan.  They did film an alternate ending where The Mother never died and Robin and Barney stayed married, but for whatever reason the studio didn't intervene and allowed the original ending to air despite not building up to it for the entire season.

Like you, everybody loved The Mother and unfortunately for the duo, people loved her too much and found her position as a placeholder for Robin to be in bad taste. How I Met Your Mother is still a great show with many outstanding standalone episodes, but the series finale got universally eviscerated because it looked as if the creators were telling a completely different story from the one they seemed to be telling for the past 8 seasons.  So while the finale didn’t ruin the show, it definitely plays more strangely in syndicated reruns.

himym was actually such an insane show like… my dads dead but i’m not ready for this. you can tell me the brightest days of my life are ahead of me but i know that at one point that just stops being true. sometimes i wish i wasn’t a mom and i want to pack a bag in the middle of the night and leave. you can’t cling on to the past because no matter how tightly you hold onto it it’s already gone. i broke up with my girlfriend because i’m in love with you and you promised you’d do the same but you didn’t and now i’m here stuck in this moment at maclaren’s. i’m all alone. i would do anything to have 45 more days with you. what mother is gonna miss her daughters wedding. if you were gonna be some lame suburban dad why couldn’t you have been that for me. you don’t want kids and you don’t want to get married but i still love you. are marvin and i and any other children we’ll ever have just some consolation prize. i love you and i’ve just asked you if you love me and you said no. everyday i believe a little less and less. i hope the universe has better things to do than give me signs. every time i look at you it hurts. i would do anything to make you smile and that’s not a good way to feel about your best friends fiancé. i love you but fate intervened

I don't know what it is (I mean we hardly see Tae) about them but I just see Pat, Jeng, and Tae as a variation of Marshall, Lily, and Barney from HIMYM. Like I just see Pat and Jeng as the sickly sweet/corny/obsessed with each other couple and Tae as their man whore best friend. In addition to this point, Barney and Marshall work together and so do Tae and Jeng.

Also I just hc that Pat and Jeng are the only people Tae actually has deep, emotion filled conversations with. Moreover, I just imagine that one: Pat and Tae have a similar relationship as Barney and Lily and two: Tae is hugely against relationships or commitment but they're the only couple he believes in/is "okay" with.

Lastly, I have this scenario that Pat visits Jeng at the restaurant and Tae gets absolutely chewed out by someone he slept with. Pat asks Jeng if they should step in and Jeng is like no and is taking absolute delight over this. Next they both wince as Tae gets slapped by the person. Then it ends with Tae holding a pack of frozen peas to his face as they all talk over lunch.

The HIMYM Legacy Sims Challenge I came up with the idea of a HIMYM Legacy Sims Challenge where each generation is inspired on a character from the series. It's a short challenge, since the show only have five main characters, but i think it can be really fun because this sims are probably be really corky.

General rules:

Start with as much money as you want, but personally i prefer don't have too much money, so maybe not more than $20K, but having at least a home and some basic funds is better.

First Gen - Theodore Evelyn "Ted" Mosby

Story:

Traits: Flirty, Good, Family Oriented

Aspiration: Big Happy Family

Carrer: Tech Guru (Start-up Entrepreneur Branch) - or, if you have the pack - Engineer/Civil Designer

Rules: Have 4 ex-girlfriends plus 2 ex-fiancées and than meet the one that will be your wife, have two kids with her and she must died when youre both adults (or just after turnin into an elder), then you have to go back to one of your ex-girlfriends that you kept being friends with.
