I have been shook by his choices many times yes! The biggest shooks are documented in the rhyme schemes and flow analysis (i'm still not over Fantastista in particular) but i have to point out another wtf moment from a song i have not analysed on here yet:

Almost every other line here is tongue twister level difficult? Different s-words in quick succession first, then the end "ku avaan suut, kaatuu pensaat ja puut, ku biitti potkii ja pudottelen läpät ni paikat on mäsän" (this part took me the probably longest to learn out of any of his songs). He didn't have to do that? Why did he do that? To show off? Probably. Insuffrable! 💚

I also just really love his flow in Rock Rock.

I also think he goes unnecessarily hard in Koppi tules, like he didn't have to flatten the competition like that 💀 I mean yes his verse is longer than anyone elses bc it's primarily his song, but everyone else has like 1 or max 2 flows in their verses, and then Käärijä comes in with like 5 or 6 different flows in his one verse. Vittu 2 kilometriä sai raahata fillaria hangessa ennen ku tuli aurattu pyörätie eteen... Ja kotimatkal sama homma, vaikka jo kotoa lähtiessä oli päivä iltapäivän puolella...

Ja oli siis just sellanen höttönen lumikerros, missä nastarenkaat vaan sutii tyhjää, eikä kävellenkää kovin kovaa vauhtia päässy, vittu jee!

1. Are "mitä" and "millainen" related? And what's the difference? 2. what's up with the "-inen" ending on so many words? Is it a coincidence?

I'm really bad at explaining Finnish grammar but...

1. "Mitä" means "what", for example:

"what are you doing?" -> "mitä sinä teet?"

or "what time is it?" -> "mitä kello on?"

or "what is in this?" -> "mitä tässä on?"

We also use another word, "mikä", for example:

"what's the problem?" -> "mikä on ongelma(na)?"

"what day is it?" -> "mikä päivä nyt on?"

"what's your name?" -> "mikä sinun nimesi on?"

My morning brain really can't explain why, google or Wikipedia might know 🥲

2. The -inen ending, I think, comes from the question "millainen?" , meaning "what kind of?", and to describe things, for example:

"what kind of a scene is this? Sad." -> "millainen kohtaus tämä on? Surullinen."

"what kind of a dog is that? Furry." -> "millainen koira tuo on? Karvainen."

"what kind of a lunch are we having? Delicious." -> "millainen lounas meillä on? Herkullinen."

"What kind? That kind." -> "Millainen? Sellainen."

I tried to find out why this happens, but google doesn't want to help me 💀 I'm a native Finn and I suck at grammar wtf 😭😭😭 There's a million words that don't end in -inen when describing things, so :-)

"what kind of a car is that? Fast." -> "millainen auto tuo on? Nopea."

"what kind of a dog is that? Brown." -> "millainen koira tuo on? Ruskea."

"what kind of a house it it? Big." -> "millainen talo se on? Iso."

You could do some tomfoolery and turn the words into "nopeanlainen", "ruskeanlainen" and "isonlainen", and it would still work but sound a bit silly 😂

Sorry if this is rude of me to do. I don't know if you're accepting asks about Finnish, but I find your input very helpful.

I've learned a little bit about vowel harmony in Finnish, but mostly noticed a pattern with the vowels. As with most things, there appears to be exceptions, and I just would like to know why.

For instance, "Hyvää päivänjatkoa!"

Why are the vowels in the "jatkoa" part not what I'd expect them to be? Is it because it's effectively a compound word, or some other reason?

Let me know if this is not a comfy way of communicating. I'd rather not bother you too much. Thank you.

Hello! I definitely do answer asks! I love receiving them :)

Vowel harmony only affects a single word. The example you provided, hyvää päivänjatkoa, has a compound word that consists of 2 root words, päivä+jatko. when combining words to make a new one with a new meaning, you don't apply vowel harmony to the new word. Some other examples: käsi+laukku=käsilaukku, not käsiläykky or kasilaukku. Olka+pää=olkapää, not olkapaa or ölkäpää. Exactly as you guessed! There aren't many exceptions to vowel harmony at all, and most of them are loan words (for example, olympialaiset).
