Chiaki is Frankenstein's Monster (call her Fran). She looks great and all but besides the love of electricity and childlike mannerisms, not sure Chiaki fits Fran's animal like berserkness and tragic need for love.

Mahiru is Boudica. I can say for certainty this is solely due to Red hair and mother like qualities. Pretty sure we shouldn't compare Mahiru to someone whose entire purpose in Fgo is being that meme person who really hates the Roman Empire (ironically the founder of Rome is her best partner in battle), has big boobs, has a terrible skillset in battle, and is defined by her backstory of losing the war against the Roman Empire and had to watch her daughters be relentlessly raped by them before most likely being forced to join them which lead to her falling into despair and killing herself.

Ibuki is Nobunaga. This is solely cuz of the amount of fourth wall breaking chibi style comedic relief and crazy hijinks. (Nobu Nobu Nobu? Nobu Nobu Nobu Nobu Nobu! Nobu? Nobu Nobu! Nobu...)

Mikan is Skadi. I have no idea why. What does shy and clumsy as fuck Mikan have in common with a wise nordic giantess with insecurities about being single and unmarried?

Hiyoko is BB. BB and Hiyoko might both be detestable trollish pieces of shit who keep fucking people over and getting away with it, but comparing Hiyoko to essentially AI Junko Enoshima on crack is a bit too far.

Kazuichi is Nikola Tesla. Electricity. Master Inventor. Eccentric mofo. I approve.

Sonia is Marie Antoinette. Princess/Queen like character. I can see that. (Tho we should also try to look out for Marie Alter cuz that bitch is crazy as fuck and wants everyone to experience how it felt when the guillotine beheaded her). Tho Sonia wishes she was as much a cinnamon roll as Marie.

Gundham is Ozymandias/Rameses II. Boisterous mofos collide. I approve. (Sidenote: Ozy is voiced by Dio. KONO OZY DA!!!)

Izuru is of course Dr. Roman's true identity as King Solomon, King and Progenitor of All Magic. All magic apparently stems from him, motherfuckers. All hail the character we will never get and wish he would come back.

Nagito is Edmund Dantes. Only cuz of Memes based on similar looks. Nagito has nothing on Dantes's year long pursuit for revenge. Tho I guess they both were "saved" by the woman they loved most in the world.

Twogami is Julius Caesar. Only cuz they are chubby charismatic likeable people.

Peko is Tomoe. FUCK YEAH I APPROVE. Peko would totally be Tomoe. Why do you think I made Tomoe her Persona in my headcanon. It fits her SO MUCH TO A T.

Fuyuhiko is Rama. Why? What does Fuyu have in common with a guy who kills demon kings with an army of monkeys cuz they stole his wife yet was also cursed to die whenever him and his wife would ever meet? (Poor Rama in fgo, all he wants is to be with his wife again but destiny keeps screwing him over by killing him seconds before his wife reaches where he is).

Nekomaru is Iskandar/Alexander the Great. Solely due to being super muscular likeable badass motivators of living a great life. Nekomaru clearly doesn't want to conquer lands and rule the world.

Akane is Francis Drake. Only cuz of giant cleavage window alone. Akane ain't no pirate queen with literal flying sea ships with giant laser cannons.

And Teruteru is Fergus. Only because both of them are a super perverts with mindsets primarily filled only about banging women and having sex. Teru is no ripped Chad with a drill sword that shoots rainbow lasers from the ground. (Sidenote: Fergus's drill sword, Caladbolg, translates to "Hard Blade". Yes it's a dick joke.")

FGO 9th anniversary + summer 2024 predictions

Historically, my predictions haven't panned out super great. I've gotten maybe 2 things right in the past, and both were obvious (Hot British Summer, and NY Kotomine.)

But I'm gonna try again anyway!!!

Firstly, who it's not going to be - Solomon/Goetia or U-Olga. If they become playable, and I have my doubts on the first and Nasu said the second wouldn't (do we trust him though), it'll be closer to the Lostbelt arc finale.

It also won't be Galahad - if he drops, it'll be during OC3, as Nasu said that's when the Shielder class would be addressed. If FGO keeps its current publishing schedule, that'll be in the first half of next year, though obviously I can pray for sooner.

There is the possibility it'll be another Type-Moon character like Ciel, though given we've already gotten two this year (Aoko, Hibiki+Chikagi), TM would seriously be pushing their luck to do another so soon. So I doubt it'll be a TM legacy character.

Fate/Strange Fake characters will probably get dropped with or after the anime.

Possible Existing Candidates include Beni-Enma Alter or Camazotz. Camazotz would follow Aesc as a LB breakout character showing up as an anni servant. I still think we're more likely to see Beni-Enma Alter attached to an event though. We also still have Typhon Ephemeros, but I'm not sure she's anni material.

It's been awhile since we got a preview character - Castoria was the last, I think. Or maybe Koyan of Light by technicality. (We're due another Arts-breaking support servant, right?) My money's on a preview character, honestly.

More Importantly(?) - Summer!

We're likely to see some LB7 servants cropping up this year, and given her role in the last LB this might also finally be Eresh's year! My predictions are as follows:

It's been awhile since our last Koyanskaya. We're due another soon, surely.

There's also a chance for characters like Pope Johanna or Bazett. Getting either of them will certainly give Constantine or Cu costumes respectively. Though if we get a LB7 oriented summer, Tez will probably get a costume. Personally, I'd like to see Nitocris Alter get a swimsuit - and then she can drag Cleopatra and Ozymandias along with her (to get animation updates).

Costumes I'd love to see: Ozy, Moriarty (Ruler), Duryodhana or Rama. Kirei would be pretty funny too though. Not holding out too much hope for any of these.

Cu Alter: once upon a time, FGO wondered "what if we made a Berserker that doesn't die?" and he has been one of the game's best units since. The lack of offensive buffs is irrelevant when you just pop all his skills and don't have to worry about him, specially with his NP Rank-up just take him everywhere and/or leave him at the back of your party for last man standing needs

Ozymandias: This man has been the best ST Rider since release with no buffs to his name and now he got a Charisma Buff and a NP Upgrade in quick succession, so you can probably imagine the Situation. The NP Upgrade also has Skill Cooldown and he has a Team Gauge Charge. Did you know he also has Self Heal and Defense Buff? Arguably better than Cu Alter, specially with the support capacities, but I have Ozy at NP2, so I can't reliably give that verdict, so he's second place because you can take Cu more everywhere, due to zerkerness

Sitonai: She's an Alter Ego. Being an Extra Class by itself would be enough but she has a healthy amount of team support on her kit, so when you inevitably take her to quests with multiple Cavalry, nevermind the occasional event's Foreigner, she'll pull her weight. Being buffed by the Game's best Support is a great bonus

Jack/Sanzang: Because ST DPS of their classes can be *rare*. Like Ozy, Jack has been the best DPS of her class in spite of lack of buffs to her name since ever. Sanzang's viability is a bit more wobbly, but she'll work Great with the new Konyanskaya, and while you have plenty of Hassans to replace Jack, your only budget alternative for Sanzang is Medea. Who you should Grail. Btw

Tamamo/Jeanne/Nightingale: No

If for gameplay, bad idea

Just level Paracelsus instead

That unfortunately is a HUGE flaw in fgo's writing and writing in general honestly. The writers staple certain characters to each other and 99% of the time it doesn't work out. I'll just over two of the most egregious examples.

Raikou and Shuten: No matter what the game does and writes it will never erase the fact that Raikou fucking despises Shuten. To call it that might be an underestatment since if you read between the lines it's just Raikou's instinct to kill Shuten. Also, on a sidenote Shuten actually does have a scar from when Raikou decapitated her but that wouldn't be known just from playing fgo. Raita draws it all the time though. The irony of this is that Shuten is very aware of how much Raikou hates her. Yeah she teases and toys with Raikou but compared to how she treats Kintoki I've noticed that Shuten never takes her teasing to the level she does with Raikou. Chaldea can't stop Raikou from going DOOM on Shuten because if that line is crossed Raikou will just wait until Shuten is away from Chaldea. Raikou might be a berserker but she's smart enough to know how to avoid trouble when she wants to.

Boudica and Nero: This one is actually very simple compared to Raikou and Shuten or Ibaraki and Shuten. Boudica in fgo exists to kiss Nero's ass and be a buttmonkey for the emperor's greatness (sarcasm btw). This one is mostly the fault of Nasu and Sakurai since Sakurai has gone downhill since the days of fate extra and now she's just a Nero simp writer and it shows in everything she does involving Roman servants. Ironically, Romulus-Quirinus has shown Boudica more recognition than any servant Boudica is historically associated with and that was just from one voiceline. Not talking about his interlude because that's just a Boudica interlude that fgo didn't want to outright hand to her (they really want Boudica to have that one interlude under her belt huh).

Some examples of good servant duos are:

Okita and Nobu.

Yu and Xu Fu (an oddly normal servant duo in the game but that might just be how I see it).

Okita Alter and Nobuvenger.

Ozy and Nitocris.

Nitocris and Scheherazade.

I think when i got this I was on the fence after a bunch of recent Sakurai bashing but it's been a while so yeah i'll go ahead and post it. TLDR, yeah you're right. There's a massive and obvious dichotomy when it comes to good and bad "stapled together" servants. They always boil down to either existing for the sake of building on relationships or distracting from them. Boudica has never existed for her own sake, only to whitewash Nero. Shuten has never existed for her own character's sake, only to set up the same interactions ad nausea with Raikou and Kintoki.

Compare this with how Nitocris has been used as a way to reveal an otherwise unknown side for multiple characters from Ozzy to Schez to Cleo. None of these characters are necessarily joined at the hip to Nitocris, rather their interaction with Nitocris reveals another aspect to an already fully established character.

Meanwhile Shuten and Boudica are characters who exist to distract, be it from Nero's revisionist bullshit or Raikou just being a fucking terrible character.

MINAH — oh yeah babey she's got some grudges and they run deep DAI — mmm he's definitely met some people he resents (Ozy at times; Lazlo; the Selto council) but he also tends to be pretty good at buckling down and working around it, so it doesn't really affect him to any meaningful degree. it also tends to be individual, not group/faction-oriented—he'll give pretty much anyone a chance

How confident is your OC of the loyalty of their companions, lovers or followers? Do they ever feel tempted to test this through spying upon them? Or by engineering circumstances where their loyalty might be tested?

MINAH — she runs at a baseline of about 5% confidence up to maybe 15% on a good day (the troupe gets a solid 35% and Alesso is around 60%). she's confident the people she travels with won't do her physical harm in the short term and will have her back in a fight or on the road while they share a similar goal, and that works well enough for her. she'll definitely keep an ear to the ground around a group, but she doesn't bother testing loyalty because there's no point—she doesn't have any expectation of reciprocity, so there's no need to look for it. (I do think she feels tempted to test... not the loyalty of the Grey Wardens per se, but their power/protection as an organization. she doesn't, because at the end of the day she doesn't want to be in a position where that safety net might prove less solid than it looks from the air, but the itch is there) DAI — quite confident. he has a good gut instinct for people and their loyalties (it's the +15 insight). he doesn't feel the need to engineer tests—for one, their lives are fucked up enough that the opportunities present themselves and he doesn't have to try to manipulate anyone, and for another he has no interest in games like that

If your OC could be granted one wish for the future, but could only wish on behalf of another person, who would they choose? And for what would they wish?

MINAH — I think she would probably wish something good for her sister? or maybe wish that rhydian can make his peace with his father's death, whatever that looks like for rhydian (justice, vengeance, etc.—whatever he needs, it would be nice to see him at peace with everything). or just wish a good day for cian tbh the kid deserves it DAI — would wish something good for— hm, either Izzy or Zaref, but at this point probably Zaref. partly because he and Izzy are on weird terms and he isn't sure the gesture would be appreciated, but mostly because Zaref could really use it. he's had a rough couple months

Does your OC have a strong belief in the importance of justice? If so what does justice mean to them? Do they follow the philosophy of “an eye for an eye”? Or are they careful in distinguishing between justice and revenge? Is this the case even if they consider themselves to be the injured party?

MINAH — she doesn't have a particularly strong belief in justice, especially not as a codified legal system. in part because she's very much a criminal and the justice system wouldn't be to kind to her, and also because it's failed her before. in most walks of life she's more of a live-and-let-live person—mostly because she'd like to live—but there are a few situations where she feels unrepentantly that people should pay for the wrongs they've done (unfortunately mind wiping and memory altering are kinda high on that list). she's pretty clear about the line between justice and revenge, but if she were in a situation where she were the injured party I think she might let that line blur DAI — he has a really strong belief in the importance of justice. not revenge and not an eye for an eye—and he's very clear, with himself at least, where that line is—but he believes he has an obligation to be good and just and to stand for people who can't stand for themselves. y'know, standard Good-aligned shit (he gets it from his dad)

Is your OC a pacifist? Or have they ever had pacifist sympathies? If they have changed their position on such things then what caused this shift? If they reject pacifist arguments, perhaps because they believe that violence can be justified in self-defence, then how do they respond to those who believe in pursuing peace at any cost? Do they see them as weak or naïve? Or as idealists whose ideas deserve serious consideration?

MINAH — I don't think pacifism is something she's ever considered. in her experience, there's always conflict of some kind happening everywhere and she's just never thought of herself as someone who can operate outside of that. not that she goes looking for violence—she doesn't love getting her hands dirty (even if it can be hard to tell with that deception mod)—but there's been a lot of it in her life and she sort of assumes it's inevitable. I think she finds pacifism a sweet hope, but ultimately sheltered and naive DAI — one of the most interesting things about him is that he's a healer who believes fundamentally in helping people live good and safe and peaceful lives, but he's also the son of a soldier who grew up in a war zone and serves a god of war. he's simply never been a pacifist. he definitely respects the desire for peace above all, and I think maybe one day he'd be interested in pursuing that lifestyle himself, but that's not the world he lives in. even if he put down the shield, he'd always be prepared to pick it up again.

Enkidu is Turkish as well

- Everyone speaks their national language at times and they kind of understand each other

- Everyone agrees that Kirei is the worst cook whilst Emiya is the best

- Gilgamesh is different from his character in the sense that he is an actual chill dude though he can be tsundere xD

- Speaking of the laughs, he did several takes because he just could not stop laughing and that is because Altoria always says something to make him laugh

- He respects Altoria a lot and is protective of her much to everyone’s amusement

- Altoria likes Gilgamesh and teases him a lot

- The gang always swap stories about their upbringing and whatnot

- Everyone is protective of the younger Masters like Ritsuka, Tine and Hakuno

- Kirei and Gilgamesh often play chess on set and often ask Tokiomi to hang with them

- Rin is Tokiomi’s real life daughter plus she plays both Ishtar and Ereshkigal plus herself

- Her bickering with Gilgamesh when in Ishtar mode makes everyone laugh

- Sakura plays a handful of characters as well as Shirou

- There was a character so many Turks requested for for years to be added to Fate Grand Order- Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror

- Jonathan always wanted to add this character but could not think of someone to play this character until Gilgamesh suggested one name: Eren Jaeger

- Jonathan was skeptical at first till he saw Eren did a reading for him. Plus seeing Eren in full costume complete with the signature turban and giving off some Gilgamesh-esque vibes helped

- Eren loved playing his character and thanked Gilgamesh for helping him land the role

- The segments involving the Sultan and Gilgamesh were considered hilarious as the dynamic between those two is similar to the one Gilgamesh has with Ozymandias and Iskandar. Only difference is that these two always bicker xD.

- Eren’s signature Mehmed laugh is similar to Gilgamesh’s laugh and he too got tummy aches from excessive laughter xD

- Ozy is a proud Egyptian and gave the casta t our of Egypt alongside the Egyptian servants

-Nitocris always gets nervous whenever she shoots a scene

- Cleopatra once got severe burns on set thanks to some skincare product she bought and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment

- Caesar eats a lot and Cleo worries about his health

- Speaking of Ozymandias and Iskandar, the both of them plus Arthur, Eren and Gilgamesh hang out off-set and often get into prank wars on set with Jeanne Alter, Altoria, Ushiwakamaru, Rin and Sakura

- Nursery Rhyme and Jack the Ripper always play outside with the other kids from other sets

- Gilgamesh wishes to settle down soon. Altoria always nags him to go get a girlfriend and she and Enkidu have tried setting up blind dates for him. Truth is Gilgamesh is in love with someone and it is not Enkidu or Altoria or even Ozymandias as many suspect. People suspect Eren because one story about them getting it on onset. Both have neither denied nor confirmed it.

- Hercules is such a gentle giant and everyone loves and cares for him, plus he talks normally

- All the Roman servants often annoy the Turks on set who chase after them every time

- Nero always gives everyone chocolate every single Valentine’s Day

- Elizabeth is an actual good singer and was confused as to how to sing badly for her character

- Camille and the vampiric servants drink wine a lot and often invite Dio over for a chat

- The Jojo set is close to the Fate set so the Jojo cast often visits

- The younger servants love playing hide and seek on set and also tag. The young Jojo kids join in the fun.

- One of the highlights every evening is that everyone from the Jojo, Fate and other related sets come out and sit by a bonfire and start talking about life. The older folks give the younger ones advice.

- Snowball fights ahoy

- Everyone calls Jonathan either Jojo or dad

- There was a lot of fight and stunt training for the entire cast, something they all enjoyed

- Gilgamesh likes the whole concept of the show which was why he agreed to it in the first place

- Medea always forgets her lines

- Illya likes messing with Hercules’s hair

- Everyone plays the different versions of themselves

- Ashiya Douman is the resident troll on set

- Gilgamesh did not like the armour at first due to how bulky it was but he soon got used to it and ended up liking it

The Sun | Series Summary and Reader Guide

The final version of this album will not contain characters from the Arcana VN. Later revisions of previous albums will eventually reflect this shift. The removal of Arcana characters will not affect the albums' plot or the characterization of the original cast: Kipling, Khleo, Ozy, Basil, Sascha, Sun Bai, etc. All locations from the Arcana will be altered or non-applicable to the story's events. The only exception is the deleted scenes, which were written beforehand and provide context for lore, but do not carry weight in the primary narrative.

A recap of major events:

Kip, Khleo and Ozy grew up together on an island monastery with other grey mages, including elders, who essentially act as guardians. 

A grey mage is someone who practices a type of teleportation magic. Grey magic can only be acquired genetically. Grey mages of the past used their powers to map the multiverse and the full range of its formations. They built magically-enhanced machine weapons to defend themselves from other factions that would seek to stop or destroy their progress. Grey mages are also referred to as umbras (sometimes a derogatory term) and Door Lords (those who wield grey magic to access and manipulate an inter-dimensional highway known as the Doors).

When Ozy, Kip and Khleo were children, they accidentally opened a Door that absorbed Khleo and nearly killed her. When Kip realized that Ozy couldn’t bring Khleo back, she took all of her anger out on him, hurting him and running away a year later to a different continent. Ozy is coached by the elders to seek enlightenment in a secret realm. He disappears inside of a subterranean library for ten years.

In The Empress album, Kipling regains her childhood memories of Khleo and Ozy. She suffers from a magical block that only resolves when she opens the Door to her patron Arcana and gets closure for her past mistakes. At the end, Kip's natural intuition towards unlocking Doors gives her an edge in moving them in a way that corrals roaming monsters into one space. Ozy doesn't reveal his intentions by asking Kip to do this, but he does imply that only their friend Khleo has what it takes to deal with the monsters inside the cage that Kip created. 

In the Strength album, we learn that Khleo has been living in the same city as Kip and working as a barhand. The money that she saved in order to quit her job, she instead gives to a struggling coworker, leaving herself without any options other than to keep working for Otto, her uncle. Otto consistently uses Khleo’s compassion for others and regenerative abilities to brutally control and extract from her. Khleo's reunion with her memories and childhood friends grant her the means to stand up to her uncle and embrace a new life as a Door Lord despite no longer having the magic she was born with. Just as he directed Kip, Ozy guides Khleo to the task he has set before them: taking on the monsters caged inside a series of Doors. Instead of relying on the grey magic that she no longer possesses, Khleo solves the riddle of the Doors through the blessings bestowed on her by the Strength Arcana – beast instinct as well as supernatural strength. Khleo calms the monsters and makes them clear the space that Ozy wants to use (for what, we still don't really know). 

Based on the events in The Empress and Strength, we can assume that some outside entity is working to eliminate grey magic from existence. This is achieved by siphoning magic from volunteers. Being relieved of grey magic appeals to many grey mages who no longer want to be branded by those who fear and hate them. Though Ozy has never explicitly stated that this is what drives him to help his friends reconnect with the Doors, he has expressed dread towards the question of time – whether he has enough of it and if he is using it wisely in his endeavors to bring Kip and Khleo into the fold of his grand scheme. We still do not know how much of a threat this erasure of grey magic directly poses to Ozy and his friends.

Ozy's story so far...

Ozy has not revealed much regarding his ten years spent alone in an ancient sunken library. His only companion was his familiar, Abaco – a bird who can read, write, and register Ozy's thoughts. It's heavily implied that Ozy could not leave the library until he reached some kind of mental threshold related to grey magic. As soon as he could, however, he sought out his childhood companions, Kip and Khleo. Though Ozy has spells of self doubt and hesitation, he otherwise gives off the impression of knowing what he is doing when guiding his friends toward specific tasks. Of the three, Ozy has the most complete understanding and mastery over grey magic. This is mostly thanks to his very powerful and wealthy family, people who openly spread and endorse mistrust towards grey mages, but also in equal measure, hoard as much intelligence as they can on the subject of Door Lords. They even go so far as to employ gifted grey mages in order to educate their son. In the end, Ozy's family sent him away to live in the monastery, essentially disowning him and leaving him to defend himself among the other umbra children, who were orphaned directly because of the actions taken by House Sese Mar and other influential families like Ozy's. In the present day, Ozy nor his friends have returned to the Melting World since they left. They currently do not know if the monastery where they grew up is still there or how people on the islands view grey mages these days.
