Pearl Correspondences & Uses in Witchcraft
Friendly reminder that this post was available for early access over on my Patreon! Unlock early access to my future content (as well as exclusive access to my research notes, free tarot readings, digital goodies, access to my online library, and TONS more) by subscribing to my Patreon for as little as $2/month!
In ancient Chinese culture, pearls were used in artwork, folktales, and charms to represent wishes, fortunes, gratitude, and even the moon:
Marquis of Sui’s Pearl, a gemstone in a folktale dating back to the Warring States period (475-221 BCE), is given to a leader, Sui, from an injured snake that he nurses back to health, as a symbol of gratitude.
In Hindu and Buddhist traditions, The Chintamani (equivalent to the importance of The Philosopher’s Stone in alchemy) is known as a wish-fulfilling jewel that is sometimes depicted as a pearl.
In Chinese artwork, dragons may be seen holding or playing with a “flaming pearl” – in this context, some believe the pearl may be representative of “an object of great value that enhances the benign dragon who treasures it”, however it is more commonly (especially in Westerners) believed to be a cosmological symbol of the moon – in fact, there is an ancient belief that full moons are solid pearls, while new moons are hollow pearls.
In holistic circles, pearl powder is also known to help you with longevity, beauty, bone-health, among many other (non-FDA approved) benefits – and in Ayurvedic medicine, pearl is said to be an antidote for poison, and it was also used in love potions.
Knowing the traditional symbolism of pearls in Chinese and Eastern cultures, as well as its (supposed) medical benefits and Ayurvedic uses, we can create our own Correspondences for Utilizing Pearls in Witchcraft:
The Moon
The inner/subconscious-self
Wishes
Gratitude
Abundance
Love
Beauty
Longevity, good health
Pisces, cancer
Hidden knowledge
Uses for pearls (or pearl powder) in modern witchcraft:
Use pearl powder as highlighter in makeup for an easy glamor-spell
Mix with salt and other herbs associated with abundance to make “money-salt” for money spells
Add whole pearls or sprinkle pearl powder in your money bowl
Blow pearl powder onto your front door at the beginning of each month to bring abundance to your home
Write down a secret or something you want to get off your chest, and bury it with a pearl to keep it ‘hidden away’ from others
Make a wish with a pearl by leaving it out in a rainstorm, or dropping it into a natural body of water (pond, lake, etc).
Offerings to sea-related or beauty-realted deities
Tumblr media
Fun pearl facts:
Genuine pearls (and pearl powder) doesn’t burn! Pearls may discolor, but they shouldn’t go up in flames.
Pearls are made as oysters try to protect themselves from irritants or parasites – they add layers and layers of this ‘pearl’ coating to intruders, and viola!
Pearls are the only gemstone that come from a living creature
Pearls come in many colors
Pearls are obtained from oyster farming – which is actually beneficial to the environment! Additionally, pearls can be harvested without killing oysters.
Be careful when shopping for pearls – many places do not sell genuine pearls and they may be fake. Use caution when looking to purchase!

july 20 - beitou hot springs, library, historic station
Unfortunately, my morning began at an ungodly hour. I had not been able to fall asleep the previous night until 1:30 in the morning because of allergies. Then sometimes from 3 to 4 am I heard a ringing sound. Fanny’s phone had gone off and woken me up only two hours after I had finally fallen asleep. Thinking it was a mistake I fell asleep about ten minutes later. Around 5 to 6 I heard the second ringing. It again woke me up and delirious, I thought oh another mistake. Then it happened again at 7 to 8 and I was so exhausted I could barely think about what was happening. My own alarm finally went off at 8:20, an hour before we needed to leave but I immediately fell back asleep from sheer exhaustion. At 8:40 my backup alarm went off and Fanny rolled over and complained about how I was waking her up with my alarm. In that moment, I think I almost killed her, but I was so tired I just got up and started getting ready. When I came out to confront her on why her phone had been going off all night she shook her head and said her alarm had never gone off. Only five minutes later when she had checked her screen time and clock she realized she had set alarms for EACH HOUR because she was so “delirious”.
I was angry, exhausted, hungry, then forced to walk around in the heat to stare at our locations in our itinerary. They were interesting but what was more interesting to me in that moment was food. After we were released we went to Din Tai Fung and their truffle dumplings healed me. We then went back to the hotel where, somehow, Fanny fell asleep before me and woke up after for our nap. Rested, we went to the Ningxia Night Market to eat their famous oyster omelettes! We also got Taiwanese Shaved Ice! The food really saved me.

Academic Reflection
The historic station was our first stop where we learned about the beginnings of transportation in Taipei. The station itself is the only one left of the Tamsui rail line. It was first established in 1916 and was then preserved as a historical piece. Inside, exhibits talk about the history of the rail line and inform about climate change and ecological education. It was so cool seeing how transportation first began and how it looked in Taipei after using the HSR and MRT so much!
The Beitou Hot Spring Museum was my favorite part! We learned about the health benefits of the springs. Filled with minerals and sulfur, the water is cleansing and good for your skin while the heat dilates blood vessels and is soothing. From our readings, the original building was completed in 1913 and was the largest bathhouse in East Asia. Because Taiwan was under Japanese rule at the time, their onsen culture greatly influenced the bathing culture here. Today, people can experience the hot springs at various locations. Usually they offer the traditional experience of bathing with others of the same sex naked and one that is coed with bathing suits.

Do u have any headcanons of ebenholz? Please i need even more content
(Ebenholz Headcanons)
Do I?! Absolutely! Here's some of what I've cooked up:
As I've written in at least one fic now, Ebenholz gets into rock music and this has a huge effect on him, from his fashion sense to his music. I like the idea of him learning to play guitar so he can say he's mastered an instrument under his own power (while continuing to spite the Witch King!)
I see a couple viable paths for Ebenholz's approach to music going forward. One is that, since he's gifted with so many instruments, I'd love to see him get into composing and conducting. On the other hand, pivoting hard into rock music but incorporating some orchestral stylings would be hella rad? Things like incorporating his flute into rock songs like Jethro Tull, or occasionally pulling Czerny for a piano accompaniment to a song (specifically along the lines of Blue Oyster Cult's Joan Crawford. Just listen to this and imagine.)
As he continues to open up, Ebenholz actually befriends quite a few operators. There's the book club gang, of course, and I also think he becomes a pal of Beeswax as they talk records and stuff during horn care sessions. Connected to the music headcanons above, Ebenholz being besties with Vigna is one of my faves. But also, I feel like his particular backstory lends well to him befriending fellow operators with prickly and traumatic backstories. Like Rosmontis. Let them be "child experiments put some literal fucked-up shit in my head" pals.
Once he comes out of his grief-stricken shell, Ebenholz is so damn excited to explore this world he's only ever dreamed of. He can be convinced to explore anywhere and try just about anything at least once. And with how sheltered he was in the Spire, there's a lot to catch up on! Between missions, music, and adventures with his growing circle of friends, he's always busy. (And is able to drag along friends with more hermit-like tendencies as well, to everyone's benefit. *coughCzernycough*)
One line Ebenholz does refuse to cross is alcohol and other intoxicants. Overhearing the noble's plans to turn him into a useless alcoholic has thoroughly shut down his desire to touch the stuff. Not knowing how the Witch King will affect him when he's under the influence is another factor.
Since he was a sheltered noble for so long, Ebenholz has been trying to educate himself but still makes the occasional insensitive comment. Old habits die hard, so he can still be a little defensive when called out, but...he's working on it.
My personal queer headcanon for Ebenholz is that he's gay and demisexual, but thinks he's ace because...well, he's never actually gotten close enough to anyone to build that emotional connection that leads to attraction. (I have a fic on this in the works right now, actually!)
I can also see Ebenholz experimenting with gender and presentation a bit. I'm not sure if he'd actually be nonbinary or just "cis but comfortable enough to present more femme/androgynous/etc when he feels like it", but I wouldn't be surprised to see him experiment once he learns about genders beyond the binary.
Goat boy has goat habits. He likes to climb random shit, and will do so without thinking if he needs to get away with a migraine. Folks have found him in the strangest places...
Also, because goat and because he's open to new experiences, Ebenholz will try to eat just about anything. Though you'll definitely get a snarky remark if he doesn't like it...(and no Hibiscus, this isn't an excuse to give him more health food, put the kale smoothie down...!)
On the subject of migraines, Ebenholz acquires some assistive tech and help with his migraines. Though they're mostly fueled by arts (and the Witch King), I can see him with some light-sensitive shades and learning other migraine management techniques to help some of the symptoms. Also maybe a camera or recorder to help handle his occasional hallucinations by recording something and playing it back to tell what's real?
Alright, that was...a lot of headcanons. I've had many thoughts about this boy. But I hope you enjoy this offering of Good Goat Boy content!

A Comprehensive Guide to Mushroom Benefits in Diseases
Introduction:
Mushrooms, often celebrated for their rich umami flavor and culinary versatility, have also long been revered for their medicinal properties. From traditional Chinese medicine to modern-day scientific research, mushrooms have been hailed for their potential in preventing and treating various diseases. In this blog, we'll delve into the fascinating world of mushroom benefits, exploring how these fungi can offer therapeutic support for a range of health conditions.
1. Immune Support:
One of the most well-known benefits of mushrooms is their ability to boost the immune system. Certain mushrooms, such as reishi, shiitake, and maitake, contain compounds that stimulate the production of immune cells, enhancing the body's ability to fight off infections and diseases. Beta-glucans, polysaccharides found in mushrooms, play a crucial role in modulating immune function, making mushrooms a valuable ally in maintaining overall health and resilience.
2. Anti-Inflammatory Properties:
Chronic inflammation is implicated in various diseases, including arthritis, heart disease, and certain cancers. Mushrooms contain bioactive compounds, such as ergothioneine and phenolic compounds, which exhibit anti-inflammatory effects. Incorporating mushrooms into your diet can help reduce inflammation and mitigate the risk of developing inflammatory-related conditions.
Tumblr media
3. Cardiovascular Health:
Studies have suggested that certain mushrooms, like shiitake and oyster mushrooms, may have positive effects on heart health. Components found in mushrooms, such as beta-glucans and antioxidants, can help lower cholesterol levels, regulate blood pressure, and improve circulation. By promoting cardiovascular health, mushrooms contribute to overall well-being and longevity.
4. Antioxidant Activity:
Mushrooms are rich in antioxidants, which help neutralize harmful free radicals and protect cells from oxidative stress. The presence of compounds like selenium, vitamin C, and glutathione in mushrooms confers potent antioxidant properties, which can help prevent cellular damage and reduce the risk of chronic diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
5. Diabetes Management:
For individuals with diabetes, incorporating certain types of mushrooms into their diet may offer therapeutic benefits. Research suggests that mushrooms like white button mushrooms and king oyster mushrooms may help regulate blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. Additionally, the low-calorie and high-fiber content of mushrooms make them a nutritious option for those managing diabetes or seeking to prevent its onset.
6. Cognitive Function:
As we age, maintaining cognitive function becomes increasingly important. Certain mushrooms, such as lion's mane and cordyceps, have been studied for their potential neuroprotective effects. Compounds found in these mushrooms may promote the growth of brain cells, enhance cognitive function, and protect against age-related cognitive decline. Including mushrooms in your diet may support brain health and optimize mental performance.
From boosting immune function to supporting heart health and cognitive function, the therapeutic potential of mushrooms is vast and diverse. Incorporating a variety of mushrooms into your diet can provide a wide array of health benefits, helping to prevent and manage various diseases. Whether enjoyed in culinary creations

These past few years, I have become a huge advocate for feeding fresh food to dogs to enhance their lives. However, you don't exactly have to transition your dog to a 100% fresh food diet in order to gain the benefits of fresh food.
Simply adding fresh food to your dog's kibble can go a long way in improving their nutrition and overall health. For instance, one study done a group of dogs in 2005 revealed that feeding vegetables just three times a week had significantly lowered their risk of developing cancer, compared to dogs who were only fed kibble.
Asian markets, in particular, have some very beneficial fresh food items that aren't typically found at your local grocery store. These food items, however, are not intended to fully replace your dog's food. Remember - too much of something good can be bad for you.
Instead, they should be offered in moderation as treats, or just small amounts topped over an already complete and balance meal. As a general rule of thumb, treats/toppers should never make more than 10% of your dog's overall diet.
Tumblr media
Bok choy (Chinese cabbage) is full of essential vitamins and minerals needed to support a dog’s eyesight, cardiac function, digestion, bone strength, and immunity. Sulfurophane - a compound found in bok choy and other cruciferous vegetables - has been linked to inhibiting cancer cell growth, lowering blood pressure, and activating the nuclear factor Nrf2 which prevents the development of diabetes and its complications. Bok choy’s low calorie, high fiber content also make it a good option for a snack/food topper for dogs who need to control their weight.
Preparation: Lightly steam or boil for better nutrient absorption. Cooking will also help neutralize the enzyme (myrosinase) that can decrease thyroid function. You should also chop/trim their long leaves to avoid choking hazards.
Tumblr media
Goji berries (wolfberries) are rich in amino acids, carotenoids which support healthy vision, and polyphenols that have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and cardio-protective properties. Studies on goji berry supplementation in animals have shown that it has the potential to help lower cholesterol, protect the liver by increasing hepatic antioxidant activity, as well as enhance metabolic homeostasis and prevent diabetes-induced renal inflammation.
Preparation: Remove stems if still attached and cut/mash berries. If dried, soak in water until softened to avoid passing straight through the GI tract and losing the benefits of its nutrients.
Tumblr media
Offal refers to the internal organs and variety meats of animals that can be consumed as food (i.e. lung, heart, kidney, liver, gizzard, head, feet, etc.) The word 'offal' literally translates to "fall off", and thus, whatever falls off the skeleton during the butchering process. Offal is densely loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fats - so small amounts go a long way. Pet owners who use these as ingredients as part of a complete and balanced recipe should keep in mind that each organ is unique in its nutrient profile - dependent on the animal it is sourced from and how it is raised. For example, grass-fed beef may contain less fat yet more vitamin A and E than grain-fed beef, and beef liver has significantly more vitamin A and copper than chicken liver.
Preparation: Boil in water or low-sodium broth. May also be baked or dehydrated into jerky treats.
Tumblr media
Oyster mushrooms are a good source of protein and fiber, and vitamins that support healthy digestion. They can help to increase satiety and maintain healthy body weight. Oyster mushrooms are also full of pantothenic acid which help to maintain cognitive function and healthy skin/coat. Beta-glucans derived from oyster mushrooms have also been shown to reduce inflammation and strengthen immunity.
Preparation: Lightly sauté or boil in water or low-sodium broth. Raw or dried mushrooms can be difficult for dogs to digest.
Tumblr media
Purple sweet potato (Ube or Okinawan sweet potato) are typically found in grocery stores more commonly during the fall/winter seasons. They contain more antioxidants than regular sweet potatoes due to the anthocyanins that cause their violet hue. While all potato varieties may impact blood sugar levels because of their high carbohydrate content, purple potatoes may exert less of an effect because of their high polyphenol content that decreases the absorption of starches in the intestines. In addition, they have been linked to improving blood pressure, likely due to their high potassium content.
Preparation: Peel skin and bake until soft for better digestibility and to prevent intestinal blockages. May be boiled and drained to reduce oxalate intake for dogs with a history of bladder stones, or prone to urinary issues.
Tumblr media
Quail eggs are small, yet packed with protein and essential fatty acids, and have a higher ratio of iron, riboflavin, and vitamin b12 than chicken eggs. It is even safe and can be beneficial to feed them with the shells included for added calcium. Quail eggs have been linked to improving bone growth/healing, reducing liver damage, and increasing energy levels. While some studies have shown evidence of quail eggs treating allergies in humans and mice, they may be less likely to trigger reactions than chicken eggs in dogs who have poultry sensitivities.
Preparation: Wash thoroughly, and handle gently as they are more fragile due to their tiny size. Cooking methods are similar to that of chicken eggs, yet require less time.
Tumblr media
Sardines contain all the amino acids your dog needs for optimal health, making it a "complete protein". They are also notorious for being rich in omegas and coenzyme q-10, which help support heart and brain health. What sets sardines apart from other fish, too, is that they are smaller and more short-lived species than larger predator fish and may have less of a risk for mercury poisoning. Because they are so small and have soft bones, you can feed them whole to your pets.
Preparation: Bake or dehydrate. If already purchased as dried, be sure to make sure there is no added salt or seasonings. If canned, preferably those stored in water only.
Tumblr media
Sushi rice (Japanese sticky rice) has a high proportion of starch and moisture, giving it a stickier texture when cooked. Sushi rice has virtually zero fat, yet still provides a desirable balance of nutrients while remaining gentle on a dog’s digestive tract. Its higher iron content than regular rice supports healthy blood circulation and can provide more energy to dogs who are recovering from illness. Cooling/refrigerating the rice before serving also enables more retrogradation of prebiotic fiber, helping to lower glycemic responses and maximize intestinal function.
Preparation: Rinse thoroughly and soak in water (with 1tbsp apple cider vinegar - optional) before cooking. If you don’t have a rice cooker or instant pot, boil on the stove until the water is completely absorbed. May be cooked with bone broth for added flavor. You can also use small amounts of beet root powder, turmeric, or blue spirulina to add color and nutrients.

What is your favorite mushroom
Tough call, honestly. I am going to divide the answer into "favorite mushroom to eat" vs. "favorite in general."
My favorite mushroom to eat is definitely Morel mushrooms. They are very tender and really do have a nice beef flavor. They are also super interesting shrooms. Morels do not have gills that release spores, but they have "pits" all over their caps. These pits produce cream/yellow spores. They are also completely hollow when cut open.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Poland, Morels were thought to be the work of the devil or signs of his work. According to german legend, the devil turned an old woman into a mushroom. To this day, it is an insult to call an older woman a "Morel."
● ● ●
My favorite mushroom in general would definitely be the Oyster mushroom. They were the first mushroom I was reliably able to ID. Oysters are also super popular edibles and can be cooked in many different ways. They have a delicious shellfish flavor and a lot of health benefits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love coming across these mushrooms on hikes. They always grow in large, beautiful clusters. They always grow on trees/logs, which is cool to see. They also hunt nematodes (tiny worms) by releasing a toxin that paralyzes and dissolves them. The resulting nematode goo is easier for the Oysters to digest. Hunting is an incredibly badass activity for a shroom to do! 😎
Thanks for the question, anon. Had to do some thinking about it. 👍🏾👍🏾

Hello there, i've seen that you have gone to therapy, (though i know it doesn't work for everyone) but how would you advise someone who thinks they may have avpd, to start?
(TL;DR at the end if you want to skip this long answer)
This is the way I've always approached therapy: there's symptoms affecting my life, I'm unable to unpack or resolve it on my own, reaching out for help didn't work (either because people couldn't help or because I had no support), I find a therapist and hope it will be a good match.
For me, it's about symptoms, not diagnoses.
You get a bunch of symptoms together, then you have a diagnosis - in my case, I found out I have AvPD through symptoms that couldn't be explained by other illnesses (avoidance itself, rejection sensitivity, low self-esteem, inferiority complex, self-isolation, no friends or social life, aversion to new situations/people, feelings of loneliness/emptiness, etc).
List your symptoms and how much they impact your day-to-day life, your ability to work or study, your ability to perform chores and socialize, etc... that's a very good start.
Accessing therapy itself can be tricky though... but that shouldn't stop you from reaching out to professional support, whether that be on a local organization, low-cost and community clinics, a teaching/university clinic or hospital, and so on. I have had some luck accessing low-cost/free therapy through hospitals and school clinics, but these are hit and miss: the waiting lists are long and you don't have much of a saying about the type of therapy or professional you'll get.
I personally am open for any and everything I can get (poverty does make treatment nearly inaccessible), but I'm aware it could end up being harmful, too. So that's always something to take into consideration.
I do not recommend CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) for AvPD or if you have any kind of ongoing trauma history. I have benefited from DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), to deal with crisis, emotional dysregulation and social anxiety issues. These were in group. Group therapy can be good to tackle mood and anxiety issues, but it's generally short-term and can't go deeper.
I believe one-on-one, long-term therapy is beneficial the most.
I have had good experiences with IFS (Internal Family Systems) when treating trauma, and everything I learned, I still use today. I have also had very good experiences with Psychodynamic (or Psychoanalytic Therapy), and it's the kind of therapy I'm doing at the moment. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to reach results and it's incredibly frustrating when dealing with something like AvPD - not because it doesn't work, but because Personality Disorders are very hard to treat. I wish I would be able to try Schema Therapy one day, as it's a proven treatment for PDs.
As for "self" therapy (or whatever you can do meanwhile), I've always found journaling was very helpful and a form of therapy for me. Also, reading about mental illnesses and studying psychology/health-related things (that can be good or bad, it all depends on the individual), taking care of myself (diet, exercise, hygiene, etc), making sure I go outside regularly, having hobbies that don't involve looking at a screen and so on. These have always been helpful and good.
If you can afford therapy you can skip most, if not all of the stuff I said here and go straight to the right type of therapy, hire a Personality Disorder specialist or something (but make sure the person have worked with Cluster C disorders, as these professionals tend to focus on Cluster B). Schema Therapy and anything else that could help. The world is your oyster.
TL;DR: list your symptoms, reach out for support, get informed about low-cost or free clinics/hospital/organizations in your area, get on waiting lists, take care of yourself.

Edible mushrooms are a diverse group of fungi that are not only yummy but also offer various nutritional benefits. Here are some popular kitchen shrooms:
Button Mushroom (Agaricus bisporus): The most commonly consumed mushrooms worldwide. They have a mild flavor and a firm texture, making them versatile for cooking in various dishes like stir-fries, salads, and soups. They are readily available in grocery stores and are recognizable by their distinct features.
Portobello Mushroom (Agaricus bisporus): Portobello mushrooms are matured, large button mushrooms with a rich, meaty texture. They are often used as a meat substitute in vegetarian dishes and can be grilled, stuffed, or sautéed.
Shiitake Mushroom (Lentinula edodes): Shiitake mushrooms have a distinctive smoky flavor and a meaty texture. They are commonly used in Asian cuisine and can be stir-fried, added to soups and stews, or used as a filling in dumplings.
Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus): Oyster mushrooms have a delicate and slightly sweet flavor. They have a soft texture and are often used in stir-fries, soups, and pasta dishes.
Chanterelle Mushroom (Cantharellus spp.): Chanterelles have a fruity and slightly peppery flavor. They are highly prized for their unique taste and are often sautéed or used in creamy sauces.
Morel Mushroom (Morchella spp.): Morels have a distinct honeycomb-like appearance and a nutty, earthy flavor. They are highly sought after by mushroom enthusiasts and are commonly used in gourmet cooking.
Porcini Mushroom (Boletus edulis): Porcini mushrooms have a rich, nutty flavor and a meaty texture. They are commonly used in Italian cuisine and are often dried for later use in soups, stews, risottos, and pasta dishes.
These are just a few examples of edible mushrooms, and there are many more varieties available around the world. When foraging for wild mushrooms, it's important to have proper knowledge and identification skills or purchase them from reputable sources to ensure safety.

Medicinal mushrooms have been used for centuries in traditional medicine systems, particularly in Asian cultures. These mushrooms are valued for their potential health benefits and therapeutic properties. Here are some notable medicinal mushrooms:
Reishi Mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum): Reishi is often called the "king of mushrooms" and is highly regarded in traditional Chinese medicine. It is believed to support the immune system, reduce inflammation, promote relaxation, and support overall well-being.
Chaga Mushroom (Inonotus obliquus): Chaga is a fungus that grows on birch trees and is known for its antioxidant properties. It is believed to support immune function, reduce inflammation, and potentially help with conditions like digestive disorders and skin problems.
Lion's Mane Mushroom (Hericium erinaceus): Lion's Mane is recognized for its unique appearance, resembling a lion's mane. It is believed to support brain health and cognitive function, potentially aiding memory, focus, and mental clarity.
Cordyceps Mushroom (Cordyceps sinensis): Cordyceps is a parasitic fungus that grows on caterpillar larvae. It has been traditionally used in Chinese medicine to enhance stamina, improve athletic performance, and support respiratory health.
Turkey Tail Mushroom (Trametes versicolor): Turkey Tail has a vibrant appearance with colors resembling the feathers of a turkey's tail. It is recognized for its potential immune-boosting effects and is often used as a complementary therapy for cancer patients undergoing treatment.
Shiitake Mushroom (Lentinula edodes): Shiitake mushrooms are well-known in the kitchen, but they also have medicinal properties. They contain compounds that may support immune function, cardiovascular health, and have potential anti-cancer properties.
These are just a few examples of the many medicinal mushrooms available. It's important to note that while these mushrooms have been traditionally used for their health benefits, scientific research is still ongoing to fully understand their mechanisms of action and potential therapeutic applications. As with any supplement or herbal remedy, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating medicinal mushrooms into your healthcare regimen.

It is crucial to exercise extreme caution and avoid consuming wild mushrooms unless you are an experienced mycologist or have received proper training in mushroom identification. Many toxic mushrooms closely resemble edible varieties, making it difficult for novices to tell the difference between them. Consumption of toxic mushrooms can lead to severe illness or even be fatal.
Here are a few examples of toxic mushrooms:
Death Cap (Amanita phalloides): The Death Cap mushroom is one of the deadliest and most poisonous mushrooms and responsible for the majority of fatal mushroom poisonings worldwide. It contains potent toxins that can cause severe liver and kidney damage. It closely resembles some edible mushrooms, making it particularly dangerous.
Destroying Angel (Amanita bisporigera): Another highly toxic mushroom is the Destroying Angel. It is part of the Amanita genus and contains deadly toxins that can lead to organ failure. It resembles some edible white mushrooms, making them particularly deceptive, so extreme caution is necessary.
Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria): While the Fly Agaric is not usually fatal, it is considered poisonous and can cause hallucinations, nausea, and other unpleasant symptoms if ingested. It is recognized by its bright red cap with white spots and is often associated with folklore and fairy tales.
False Morels (Gyromitra spp.): False Morels are not directly deadly, but they contain a toxin called gyromitrin that can cause serious health issues. Consuming False Morels can lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and, in severe cases, organ damage.
Jack-O'-Lantern Mushroom (Omphalotus olearius): The Jack-O'-Lantern Mushroom is not deadly, but it is considered toxic. It can cause severe gastrointestinal distress if consumed. It is often found growing in clusters on decaying wood and has a distinct orange color.
Deadly Galerina (Galerina marginata): The Deadly Galerina is a small brown mushroom that contains deadly toxins. It is often found growing on decaying wood and can be mistaken for edible mushrooms. Ingesting this mushroom can lead to liver failure.
Autumn Skullcap (Galerina marginata): Autumn Skullcap is a small, orange-brown mushroom that is highly toxic. It contains the same toxins as the Deadly Galerina and can cause liver failure if ingested.
This is not an complete list, and there are so many other toxic mushrooms. It's important to remember that accurately identifying mushrooms is essential for foraging and consuming them safely. It is best to rely on expert identification or consult a trained mycologist before consuming any wild mushrooms. Unless you have extensive knowledge and experience in mushroom identification, it is best to avoid consuming wild mushrooms altogether to prevent the risk of poisoning and death.
Be safe, be blessed, and hope you enjoyed today's topic!

Top 10 Foods Rich In Iodine
Iodine is an essential mineral that is vital for the proper functioning of the thyroid gland. This gland plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism, growth, and development. The suggested daily amount of iodine intake, also known as the recommended daily intake (RDI), is 150 micrograms per day for the majority of adults. Nevertheless, for women who are expecting or breastfeeding, the necessary amount is greater. While iodine deficiency is rare in many developed countries due to the widespread use of iodized salt, it still affects millions of people worldwide. The deficiency of iodine can lead to thyroid problems, such as goiter, hypothyroidism, and cretinism. Therefore, it is important to consume foods that are rich in iodine to maintain optimal thyroid function.
Here are the top 10 foods rich in iodine.
1. Seaweed Seaweed is a type of marine algae that is incredibly rich in iodine. In fact, seaweed is one of the most concentrated natural sources of iodine available. It's important to note that not all types of seaweed contain high levels of iodine, so it's best to do some research before adding it to your meals. Some popular varieties include kelp, nori, wakame, and dulse. Seaweed can be enjoyed in salads, soups, sushi rolls, or even as a seasoning on top of roasted vegetables.
2. Shrimp Shrimp is an excellent source of iodine, providing approximately 35 micrograms of iodine in a 3-ounce serving. For optimal iodine intake, it is recommended to choose fresh or frozen shrimp over canned varieties, as they typically contain higher levels of iodine. In addition to iodine, shrimp is also packed with other essential nutrients such as protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin B12.
3. Oysters Oysters, a type of shellfish, are a nutritional powerhouse. They are rich in essential nutrients, particularly iodine. Consuming only six medium-sized oysters can provide you with more than double the recommended daily intake of iodine. Oysters are also rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Additionally, oysters are low in calories, making them a great food choice for those who are trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy diet.
4. Scallops Scallops are a type of shellfish that are known for their sweet and delicate flavor. They are also a great source of iodine. A 3-ounce serving of scallops contains approximately 35 micrograms of iodine, which is more than 20% of the recommended daily intake. Moreover, They're also a great source of protein and low in fat. You can enjoy them grilled, sautéed, or even raw in sushi.
5. Tuna Tuna is an exceptional source of iodine, providing a wealth of health benefits. A 3-ounce serving of canned tuna contains approximately 17 micrograms of iodine, which is about 11% of the recommended daily intake. Additionally, tuna is also a great source of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and other nutrients that are important for overall health. You can enjoy tuna in a salad, sandwich, or even as sushi.
6. Cod Cod is a popular white fish that is also rich in iodine. A 3-ounce serving of cod contains approximately 99 micrograms of iodine, which is more than 65% of the recommended daily intake. Moreover, it also provides other important nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and selenium.
7. Squid Squid is an excellent source of iodine. Just 3 ounces of cooked squid contain approximately 720 micrograms of iodine, which is more than four times the recommended daily intake. Squid is also rich in other nutrients like vitamins B12 and D, as well as omega-3 fatty acids. You can enjoy squid in various ways such as grilled, stir-fried, or even deep-fried as calamari rings.
8. Crab Crab is another seafood that is high in iodine. A 3-ounce serving of crab contains about 90 micrograms of iodine, which is nearly 60% of the recommended daily intake. Additionally, crab is a low-fat and high-protein food that provides several other important nutrients, like vitamin B12, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids. Not only does it taste great on its own, but it can be added to a variety of dishes like salads or soups.
9. Eggs Eggs are a great source of iodine, with one large egg containing approximately 24 micrograms of iodine, which is about 16% of the daily recommended intake, making them a great choice whether you're enjoying them as part of a breakfast spread or adding them to salads, sandwiches, or stir-fries.
10. Dairy Dairy products such as milk, cheese, and yogurt are excellent sources of iodine. This is because cows are typically fed iodine-rich feed, and their milk contains high levels of this nutrient. Just one cup of milk can provide up to 56 micrograms of iodine, making it one of the easiest ways to meet your daily needs. Other dairy products like cheese and yogurt also contain significant amounts of iodine. However, remember to choose low-fat options to avoid excess saturated fat consumption. In addition, cheese and yogurt are fermented, which can increase the bioavailability of iodine. Dairy products are not only a great source of iodine but also provide other important nutrients such as calcium, protein, and vitamin D. However, people who are lactose intolerant or have milk allergies should look for other sources of iodine.

I wrote a half assed post abt espresso a month ago or so,, and I intend to rewrite it
here is a character analysis for espresso !! do note that I’m not the best at these things, and have trouble putting my thoughts into words so this won’t be the most perfect thing ever; but all I can say is that I tried :))
also !! while I do bc espresso to use they/them specifically; to make this easier to read I’ll be using he/him considering those are the pronouns he is refered too
to start off; purely by looking at espresso’s lines it’s clear that he gives off a very confident persona. with two specific lines, it easy to tell that he is confident in his abilities, his skills, and only strives to perfect them as much as he can. espresso places away everything else and only focuses on his work; finding chit chat unbearable, and only caring about criticism that would aid in his studies. not ONLY by his lines, but by the parfaedia event in which you had to choose from latte, almond and espresso. in that event it’s shown that espresso doesn’t accept any students into the advanced program unless he believes the student in question is worthy enough to learn about coffee magic and it’s systems, unless he believes the student in question is worthy of his time. work is something that espresso values heavily, to the point he neglects his own health and well-being just so he could spend countless sleepless nights on a formula. he views himself as his work, and nothing more- for it his work wasn’t up to standards, he wouldn’t be up to standards. considering espresso grew up in the lower city of the republic, he had nothing going for himself but his academic level.. if it were to drop at any point he’d be shunned away like a pile of rubble, returned back to his home, back to a place with terrible living conditions, a place no one would want to be stuck in. why do you think oyster and caviar are able to keep their position as elders? it’s not due to their skills, it’s the benefit they give the republic.. military and trade. it’s obvious that the other elders aren’t that fond of them either, and I’m more then sure that if they were given the chance at any point- oyster and caviar would lose their position as elders and be returned to the nobody’s they were, shunned by the sweet. and I believe that’s the case with espresso; he’s a lower city cookie, he’s a cookie made out of pure espresso, likely a descendant of the coffee tribe, he wasn’t given the prosperity and luxury of the upper city cookies- his worth is only measured by what he brings to the republic. even now that he’s moved to the vanilla kingdom- I doubt he’d be out of that damaging mindset so easily. the republic valued him for what he brought to them, and now he only values himself for what he’s able to bring to those around him, what he’s able to benefit them with. espresso comes off as mean, harsh and blunt because that’s the only way he knows how to push someone away, drawing them away with a snarky remark or two, telling them that he’s busy and doesn’t have time for something meaningless like a harmless conversation. for fucks sake, he’s a sleep deprived mess, even that’s enough of an excuse to me moody so much. ok that’s it I have nothing else to add

Thinking about Wander Over Yonder
Still dearly miss this show, I'll share some ingrained head canons of mine for watchdogs and Commander Peepers, my beloved.
Male watchdogs have the lashes!!! The watchdog army just keeps them military buzzcut. On watchdog home world though, full long eyelashes are the beauty standard(derogatory). Top falsies are like a toupée, upper and lower falsies are considered a full wig.
Female (watch)dogs are total b.... bitter creatures.... as confirmed by the crew. Emphasis on creature. Like... "the thing" meets retro brain monster... with a dash of "It came from outer space" alien for thematic irony. Oh, and Eye lasers! I ought to draw out some ideas sometime.
Since the males look like Eyeballs + optic nerve (pink body), I imagine the females as the brain + spinal cord/nervous system. The females are body horror jellyfish abominations that assimilate males of choice and slowly die-gest them. Anglerfish dynamic, I guess. This is why Hater's army (with minimal benefits to offer) can manage to recruit so many soldiers, it's a dog-eat-dog world back home!
The smaller the watchdog, the more condensed the nerves, so the tiny ones are more sensitive (physically and emotionally for cartoony effect). The bigger ones are more pain resilient and tough acting. However, due to home world standards, they'll find less "eye candy" types (big or small as the standard, you decide) free to recruit to Hater's ranks.
Home world is matriarchal, and queen ruled, perhaps with some idealized versions of Jolly London + "American suburban neighborhood" vibes for the cities. The males are treated like literal dogs(derogatory) though. Sit and stay, hush now, be a good mutt and wash the dishes. Itchy uncomfortable holiday dog costumes year-round, and butler behavior towards the soon to be self-made widows is seen as the norm for the unfortunate husbands. Collars are like wedding rings, leash rules are everywhere, and divorced strays or spinsters get sent to the pound, where Hater's army can easily recruit from.
Watchdogs can only eat soft foods. Stuff like Enchiladas are reserved for fancy events, for the norm on home world, it's... dog food(sorry). You'll find simple things like sweet potato mash, scrambled eggs, boiled carrots, etc. Fancier things are usually beautifully decorative but disappointing to taste. I mean hey, they eat with their eyes, after all (not sorry). Little to no spices are used, so the food is very bland. Over all the cuisine is like baby food mash meets the elderly's hospital food. And don't get me started on those cursed gelatin casseroles... similar allergies to dogs also apply. Aluminums=alimony so that mean watchdogs are allergic to flavor, Hay fever is a crusher, and carob is used instead of chocolate. Peanut butter is a favorite, causes lots of blinkies.
Watchdogs have those big eyes for a reason: nighttime vision! The home planet has short or nearly nonexistent daytime, but with fairly strong moonlight nights. Dog moons are common and it's a whole celebratory thing to crack open a cold one with the boys and howl at the moon before the party gets started. I can imagine there is a good number of seas and lovely coastline, many fishing careers and a strong navy... yes... just for the seadog pun. But hey, oysters and fish help eye health, apparently!
