Hey! No suitcases left? I was interested into one oft the north-east from the US
First of all, congratulations on your MBA! Graduated with honors from Harvard. Pretty impressive. But I get it: with the burden of student loan debt on your shoulders, even with that cool new job as an investment banker, you still can't make any big leaps. There you go hoping for something to go with your Ivy League look. I'm afraid I don't have anything from BOS, BDL, PVD or even JFK…. But I could offer you a sports bag from EWR. Adidas logo, but says "Balenciaga" on it. Looks damn expensive! Anyway, I don't begrudge it to you. And I hope there are also sports clothes in it. Because let's be honest: You have neglected your body a little bit in the last years.
And indeed: There are sports clothes in the bag. Not the kind of stuff you wear to the gym. Street style gear. All new, all pretty expensive looking. All completely unusable for you. First of all, it doesn't fit you. And second, you won't need much else to wear for the next few months besides a dark blue suit with a white shirt. Unless you have that much time to change for sleep. I recommend you sleep naked, though. Saves time. And trust me, in your new job, you're going to need every freaking second of sleep you can get.
No matter, to put the whole thing on ebay or to sell it at a seconc hand store, you don't have the time. You put the bag in the corner of your small and expensive downtown apartment. After all, the gold chain is pretty cool. You can wear it sometime. Just to sleep tonight. Tomorrow you start your new job. You should do without such extravagances.
At night you dream wildly. About your new job. About university. But also about expensive sports cars racing in the city center. And of orgies in expensive clubs. You wake up with a very impressive morning wood. And obviously you came more than once tonight. Fuck, now you have to make up the bed. You don't have the time at all. Then breakfast will have to be cancelled. You're not too late on your first day at work.
Fuck! Where are your shoes? There, where they should be, are a lot of sneakers. And a few boots. But no oxfords, no loafers, no shoes that match your suit. You just take a pair of sneakers that look reasonably discreet. And in the rush you forget to take off the chain. When you see all the tie-wearers in the elevator, you notice it. You think about taking off the chain quickly. But that would look even less confident.
The first day at work is still fairly relaxed. A lot of organizational stuff. You are whipped into the company philosophy. You have to sign dozens of forms on compliance issues. And when the day is over, you're already wondering if this was the right decision to start here. As you leave, the partner who supervised you and the other newcomers during the day says "One more word about the dress code. You don't necessarily need a tie. And it's also okay not to wear sensible shoes, but to come in $1,500 sneakers." He's clearly looking in the direction of your shoes. "But it's only okay if it's Friday. And if you're a partner here. Ladies, gentlemen, just to remind you, it's Thursday."
The other new colleagues all know each other. Either their parents already work here. Or they've been to school or country club together. They don't even ask you if you want to join them to toast the start of your career. You wouldn't have wanted to anyway. You need fresh air now. And you walk home. Not far from your apartment, you pass a club. The bouncer looks you in the face, looks at your shoes, looks you in the face again. And nods appreciatively. He asks you if you would like to have a drink. You smile and say, maybe tomorrow. Today you just want to go to bed.
Fuck, if this goes on, you'll run out of sheets. Or you'll have to sleep with a condom in the future. As you dry off after your shower, you're surprised at how firm your belly feels. You have lost weight. Quite noticeably. But that doesn't happen overnight… However, not all shirts and suits usually disappear overnight. There are only black suits in your closet. And black shirts. Many made of shiny fabrics. Some, fortunately, made of office-appropriate fabrics. All in all, your closet looks completely different. A real chic spacious built-in closet, with all the clothes neatly lined up on identical hangers. And almost everything is black. Looks great. But it wasn't like this yesterday….
You can't think about it much longer now. You put on a black cotton shirt and a black virgin wool suit. Both from Italian designers. Tightly cut, emphasizing your slim body. And if you're already out of the ordinary, white sneakers with a black suit don't matter either. Yes, you don't look like a serious investment banker. But you look hot. Really hot! But you get the receipt immediately when you arrive at the office. The cute guy at the reception is still visibly excited and flirts with you. Your supervisor just yells "Hey, wetback, come to my office right now!" through the open-plan office. When you don't respond, there's a "You in the black shirt! Now!" Damn, you're off to a fantastic start at work.
Your boss asks you how long you've been in the U.S. and how good your English is. You answer in your best East Coast English that you were born here and that your English is quite good. Okay, replies your boss. That's good. Because they have a customer for whom it is important that you are fluent in English and Spanish. You want to answer that you had German, French and Latin in school, but you nod and answer "¡No hay problema, jefe, puedo hacerlo!" Fuck! Your boss grins, slaps you on the shoulder and hands you a folder. All the access codes for protected folders are in there. You should look at it until Monday morning. Then you have an appointment with the customer in New Jersey. Don't worry, he's coming with you. But he needs an interpreter. And he adds that if something doesn't seem quite legal to you, it probably isn't quite legal.
By the time you leave the office around 10:00 p.m., your skull is smoking. The client seems to be making a lot of dough with a lot of different businesses. Some are legal, some are a little bit legal, and some are obviously completely illegal. And your job now is to restructure the corporation so that everything looks at least perfectly legal. Actually, you thought that you were only supposed to trade a few shares here. You didn't expect anything like this. On your way home, the doorman greets you like an old friend. You ask if your place at the bar is still free. The bouncer answers with a grin, "Hermano, tu sitio en el bar está siempre libre para ti". Then you realize that you had greeted the bouncer in Spanish. You go into the club. You start to dance a bit to the salsa music. When you arrive at your place at the bar, your glass of Havana Club Maximo Extra Anejo is already at your seat. You smile at the bartender. He leans over the counter, gives you a kiss and unbuttons your shirt. "Jefe, pareces un contable cuando no muestras tu musculoso pecho." You grin, take a sip of your rum and look around. It's still quiet. But then, it's still early in the evening.
It is already dawn when you leave the club. Completely confused. You had fun all evening. Everyone seemed to know you. Twice someone gave you a blowjob in the toilet. And all this time you were not surprised. But when you went to the bathroom to wash your hands, you saw your reflection in the mirror. And it was not you. You are tanned. You have a carefully trimmed black beard. And your chest, shiny with sweat from dancing, is not only well worked out. It is also inked. When you arrive home, undressed and standing in front of the bathroom mirror in your black silk pajama pants, brushing your teeth, you take another close look at the tattoos. They are works of art. You've always been damn proud of them.
Actually, you can't afford to be, given your deadline on Monday, but Saturday belongs to sports. One hour of cardio, one hour of swimming, one hour of lifting weights. And to top it all off, an hour of boxing. In the gym, everyone calls you Balenciaga. Because of your sports bag, you're known as a sore thumb. You don't care. Here you are at home. There are few places where you've spent more time. And hey, there are worse nicknames! Your bros ask you if you're still coming to go drink unos vasos. Not today, tomorrow you have to be fit. On Monday you must not make a mistake.
On Sunday you are certainly not the only one who is in the office. But there you do not care what the others say about your outfit. You look good in the Prada tracksuit. When you step into the elevator at 6:00 in the morning, you don't see anyone yet. Not even the cleaning staff or security. You boot up your computer and continue reading business reports. Fuck, your client is a genius. It's almost impossible to recognize a pattern in the tangle and to get to the bottom of it. But slowly you see through the construct. You startle when someone grabs your shoulder. Your boss is standing behind you. And tells you that he has been watching you for an hour. It is now 8:00 pm. You are doing a good job. But now is a good time to call it a day on a Sunday.
On the way home you take a break for a glass of rum. But somehow you can't concentrate. You can't relax either. Even fiddling with the bartender's nipples is no fun. You say goodbye and go home. You can't say why, but your apartment isn't your home anymore either. Yes, that's your clothes hanging in the closet. Yes, those are your stuff in the bathroom. But everything feels wrong. You don't belong here. In fact, you don't belong in this body either. You definitely don't belong in an investment bank. You toss and turn in your bed. Until you fall asleep.
You wake up with the morning sun. One of the things you love about your penthouse is the view across the Hudson River to the Manhattan skyline at sunrise. Yes, New Jersey is not New York. But the view of New York is the better one. You take a few laps in the pool on the roof terrace. Until your assistant tells you the guys from the bank are here. They should sit down on the terrace.
Tumblr media
You take a quick look at them. You haven't met the fellow yet. He looks like he's fresh out of college. Let's see if he's any good. You've been working with his boss for a while. He'll do anything for a line of coke. But he does it well. And you need good men around you to keep the place running.

Vettel leads race in sports nutrition
Tumblr media
Sebastian Vettel has become the lead investor in a British sports supplement brand that has raised £1.2 million to commercialise its plant-based formula.
Bill Ronald, chairman of the Fever-Tree drinks mixer brand and a former Mars executive, is also investing and is becoming chairman of BACX, which is based in Oxford.
Vettel, 35, the four-time Formula One world motor racing champion, said he had been introduced to the supplement two years ago by Antti Kontsas, his long-time performance coach, as they explored ways to improve the driver’s hydration and energy levels during races.
“We were always looking for the next thing to get fitter and in terms of supplementation,” Vettel said. “A big one has always been fuelling during a race because it’s quite complicated in the car, you have all the G-forces. Antti brought this product along. I tried it out at home first, during exercising and training, and it worked. I felt good and energised and shortly afterwards put it in my drinks bottle.” Unlike with other products, Vettel had no stomach pain later.
He said the consumer market for BACX was broad: “It is not like this is the perfect product for Formula One drivers. This is the perfect product for anyone who cares about their wellbeing, who is active. It doesn’t need to be extreme sports.”
BACX was founded in 2020 by Jason Baits-Tomlin, a former Gallaher and Japan Tobacco International executive, who came up with the idea after breaking his hip during an endurance bike race in South Africa in 2016. He developed the formulation as part of studying for an executive MBA at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.
Baits-Tomlin, 49, said that like Vettel he had suffered side-effects from using existing sports drinks and powders and had decided to develop a natural formula using plants.
The brand’s “Performance Fuel” concentrate is sold via its website and soon will be available on Amazon. “We will then transfer the tech into a sports drink that will be launching in the summer,” Baits-Tomlin said. He expects to the product to be launched in Germany, Italy, France and Spain this year and hopes to raise another round of investment from venture capital in 12 months’ time.
Other sports stars to have gone into business have included Chris Froome, the cyclist and four-time Tour de France winner, who has a stake in Hammerhead, an American start-up that makes cycling computers, and Chris Smalling, the former Manchester United defender now playing in Italy, who co-founded ForGood, an investment firm backing environmental start-ups.

Ku lagi stres banget apa PMS ya (nggak sih kayanya, masih lama) atau gimana ya, buka linked in dapet mesej terus emosi:
"Mohon maaf sebelumnya, saya ingin bertanya perihal admission di Oxford. Berdasarkan pengalaman sebelumnya, kira kira dokumen apa saja yg perlu dipersiapkan selain IELTS dan pastinya Visa Study ya? Apakah mba Asri sebagai scholarship awardee?"
Terus irritated banget???
I'm XXX, a freshgrad from ITB aiming to get a Scholarship. I'm impressed w/ ur experience, both intra and extra-curricular activities. Do you mind to share more abt your experience?". Kayak... where do I even begin... Jadinya cuma ku-reply: "Hi! I rarely open LinkedIn, so it would be better to email me at [email protected]. I can share with you a lot about my scholarship, but I don't know where to start. Just email me specific questions, and I'll answer! Maybe you can start by telling me what stage you are right now in the application, and we can start talking from there!". TERUS literally silence from his part & the email never came... Barusan jadinya sudah kubalas sesingkat mungkin literally sharing apa aja yg kusubmit dan bilang "iya aku jardine awardee".
Sekian dulu rant hari ini, mungkin memang waktunya makansiang.

High School / ATLAS
A lot of people think about High School, blame it on Rockefeller, trying to create a pliable labour-class to work in the factories.
To be honest, he 100% did do this, but he based it off of British Grammar schools.
Grammar School, which the British Grammar schools are still considered the best schools in the world. Just like Oxbridge (Oxford + Cambridge) are considered the best universities. Grammar Cchool was designed to create the nobility. Literally. As in, not too long ago, you were literally born into a caste, or to say you were born into a family with inheritable privileges.
The nobility were both a martial class, and a managerial class. This is because that one of the only legitimate jobs of the government is to protect you militarily, and Feudalism is essential a military government writ large. It really wasn't until modernity that we had viable alternatives.
They had inheritable land, that they owned because of pledges of military service to the king. They were allowed to keep all of the money they could get out of their fife. This meant that the survival of their workers, and managerial skills, directly benefited them. Compare this to modern corporations, that gain no benefit to your continued existence.
To create this martial, managerial class, they were sent to Grammar School, where they were taught important things, like accounting, Latin, military strategy, the rough equivalent of an MBA, and unimportant things, like how to speak in the secret Frog language. Rugby doesn't just teach you military strategy, but Games are important to keeping your body active.
If you look at standard High Schools, they teach the same thing, but a pale imitation of this. We've even tried to turn Games into Physical Education, and bent backwards in the attempt to add education into the simple act of keeping your body physically fit, (along with the social and psychological benefits). You learn a second language, but in English-speaking countries, this is not to do anything productive, (non-English countries learn English, because it's so useful). We used to learn banking, and now learn abstract mathematics. Which, as someone who was good at, and studied them much further, you aren't going to use it unless you become an engineer or mathematician. Because of the purposelessness, High School doesn't have any way to evaluate it's success. As such, it's basically become a holding pen.
People are going to High School, nowadays, and coming out less prepared for life than when they went in. Same thing with University. Because the most important thing you can do in High School and University is sit still, and not do anything productive.
For some reason, teenagers are feeling a bit unfulfilled by this, and our solution is to shoot them full of drugs.
Historically, once you had elementary school, Elementary Cchool taught you the three R's. Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic.
Catchy, but inaccurate to call them R's.
Anyways.
After Primary School, if you weren't going to Grammar School or University, you... worked. You got an apprenticeship. By the time you are 21, you are a journeyman, whom is marriageable.
Now, we send everyone to University. Which adds another 8 years of education. They come out of University with $50-60,000 in debt. About 10% of the people who come out of University actually work a single day in the field they studied. They come out, never having done anything productive in their life, other than the most basic of service jobs.
And if they had worked those service jobs for those years, would be financially better off, and have more work experience.
So, we're creating Utopia, so, what do we do with schools?
I mean, we can't have teenagers working. Except we can. And in my experience as someone who has to teach teenagers at work, and who is a former teenager himself, the teenagers with jobs are typically better in almost every way than the teenagers without jobs.
Well, what about Trade Schools?! That's the usual alternative.
Well, Trade Schools don't really exist. Most trades have a 3 semester rotation of 2 work and 1 study, or something similar. Trade schools are often literally just university-colleges, or technical universities, that partner with firms to pair students with appropriate jobs in their field. Engineering literally works the same way, and and both engineering nursing requires a practicum after graduation.
But we're running into the ATLAS principle, which comes from Bioshock. In Bioshock, an Objectivist created an Objectivist paradise. The big problem he didn't account for is that he promised that everyone could become captains of industry. "But, in the end, someone has to scrub the toilets."
Every, single, discussion about High School acts as if every - single - person is going to have a storied career, either in academia, or the trades. The unfortunate answer is that most people have jobs, not careers. Your job is to lift heavy thing, or push buttons. The nature of unskilled jobs, i.e. jobs without skills that are rare enough to command a better wage, is a different issue. And it really doesn't matter HOW we accomplish this, we need account for the people who have to scrub the toilets. They need to have housing, and enough money to support a family. On one wage, or as is most common, one-and-a-half. People who don't go into some form of secondary education should not be shamed as failures. They are instead the backbone of the economy. Or, the muscles of the economy? You have a lot more muscle than you do bones. The basement of the economy is fitting, but people might take that the wrong way.
As Forrest Gump says, stupid is as stupid does. Most people think this is an insult, but stupid people can lead productive lives, and brilliant people have lead disastrous lives. You don't need grade 12 to scrub the toilets. Literally, as many janitorial jobs require grade 12, because it was the line in the sand we choose.
And, by the way, this is literally Utopian, as in, it's in Thomas Moore's Utopia. People with free time, and a culture of interest in reading, will create a culture of reading.
If we get a four-day work week, either 4x8, or 4x10, we can have days off, and people can attend secondary education of their choice. Especially with the advent of the internet, you can have masters in their field teaching courses that you need to pay $20/month to view. If a teenager is still living with their parents, a couple days of work a week would be sufficient to cover their expenses, and give them plenty of time for education.
Well, what about people who want to go into a field that actually requires a university degree.
Then they can go to High School. Or have the local university-college offer the equivalent courses. If we cut out the bullshit, and focus only on those who are academically skilled, we could easily cut the time in half.

Peter Usborne, who has died aged 85, created a publishing company that changed the look and feel of nonfiction books for children. Although they were widely used in schools, Usborne books became a household brand, particularly associated with finding things out at home, through attractive illustrated, fact-filled publications that entertained children with high-quality pictures and accessible bites of information.
Before his publishing career, Peter was a co-founder in 1961 and the first managing director of the satirical magazine Private Eye. It grew out of a humorous magazine called Mesopotamia that Peter launched while a student at Balliol College, Oxford, with fellow students, among them John Wells and Richard Ingrams, as writers. On graduating, he used his best networking skills to secure funding to get the magazine launched, but left in 1965 to study for an MBA at the Insead (Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires) business school in Fontainebleau, France.
In 1964 he had married Cornelie Tücking and they went on to have two children, Nicola and Martin. Peter said that he had wanted to publish books for children from the moment he knew that he was going to be a father. In 1969, working for a publishing company, British Printing Corporation (BPC), as assistant to the chair, he asked to change tack and work in children’s books instead. He was given a publishing role at Macdonald Education in 1970, and his launch series was Macdonald Starters, a list of nonfiction titles for very young children that combined attractive but simple illustrations with a few words of text. They were conceived for the schools market, and designed to satisfy children’s boundless curiosity and need for answers to their questions. He eschewed subject specialists and instead used writers – including himself – who were able to communicate ideas easily and to make information-sharing lively.
After two years, Peter felt he had learned enough to set up his own company and in 1973 he launched Usborne Publishing, spurred on by the birth of his son. Peter described parenting as the “greatest gift” he had ever been given. Drawing on the model he had created at Macdonald Education, using in-house writers, illustrators and designers, Peter made sure Usborne Publishing could grow fast from secure foundations. Series such as the Know How books and the touchy-feely series That’s Not My … (now numbering 72 titles) became staples of the list. His infectious enthusiasm for the books brought great loyalty from the Usborne staff, who enjoyed the range of creative roles they were able to take on, as well as Peter’s sense of them as part of his extended family.
The quality of Usborne Publishing books, their recognisable look, their affordable cover price and the fact that they lived up to their ambition of making learning fun ensured they became a key part of childhood for many. For those who did not have easy access to bookshops, Peter set up a scheme through which Usborne books could be sold at local community events and gatherings.
When Robert Maxwell acquired BPC in 1981, Peter swiftly bought back the small stake that BPC had taken in Usborne Publishing. In 1995 he sold 26% of the company to Scholastic. It has continued to grow and now has an annual turnover in excess of £100m.
Peter never lost his own boundless curiosity or his belief in his motto for the company – “Do it better”. He remained involved with the business, latterly as chair, working in partnership with his daughter, who joined the company in 2015 and became CEO in 2022. Peter was appointed MBE in 2011, advanced to CBE in 2022. He received the London Book Fair lifetime achievement award in 2015, and Usborne Publishing was celebrated as publisher of the year in both 2012 and 2020.
He had always intended that Usborne Publishing would have a philanthropic programme. With his children, he set up the Usborne Foundation in 2008 with funds to be granted to education and health projects. The foundation has created sophisticated tech games based on the foundations of literacy learning, and accessible for children who struggle to read; and developed a literacy-based ebook series, Teach Your Monster to Read.
Imposingly tall, even when stooped by ankylosing spondylitis, a spinal condition with which he was diagnosed in his 30s, mildly spoken and with a boyish enthusiasm for books and their readers, Peter was a benign presence in children’s publishing. His generosity as a host of memorable parties and celebrations – most recently for 50 years of Usborne Publishing at the Bologna book fair in March – helped to generate huge affection for him and for Usborne.
Peter was born in Hampstead, London, the son of Thomas Usborne, a senior civil servant, and his German-born wife Gerda (nee Just). The family moved to Weybridge, Surrey, when Peter was a child and he was sent to school at Summer Fields, Oxford, and then Eton college; and from there went to Balliol.
His marriage to Cornelie ended in divorce in 1995. He is survived by his second wife, Wendy (nee Browning), whom he married in 2012, by Nicola and Martin, and by five grandchildren, Jesse, Caspar, Max, Olive and Hazel.

Anna Delvey Is Speaking With Harvard MBA Students Anna Delvey is going to share her scammy secrets with business students at one of America's top universities. According to a new report from Page Six, the convicted "SoHo Grifter" — real name Anna Sorkin — is preparing to address a class of Harvard MBA students. That said, it's still in the planning stages, meaning that it's currently unknown what exactly her lecture is going to be about, though most people can only assume it's going to have something to do with con artistry and defrauding investors. After all, some would probably say Delvey is the perfect person to address a bunch of future business execs and hedge fund managers, which is why the outlet said she's also been asked to chat with students at Oxford University in the UK. Notably though, these planned talks at two of the world's most prestigious schools won't be her first collegiate lectures, as she's already talked to a few people attending NYU — despite still being under house arrest.Back in 2019, the faux German heiress who inspired Netflix's Inventing Anna was given four to 12 years in a New York state penitentiary after being convicted on multiple charges of fraud, including several counts of second-degree grand larceny and theft of services. However, she was released after three years, only to be detained by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) for overstaying her visa. While still trying to fight deportation to Russia, Delvey's also been busy making other big career moves, such as getting into the NFT game and organizing a big art exhibition featuring pieces made during her time in prison. She also recently made headlines for what was dubbed an "arresting 32nd birthday party," as well as her upcoming unscripted reality show dubbed Delvey's Dinner Club, where she will host for a group of "esteemed guests" at her East Village apartment. You can read Page Six's entire report on the scammer socialite's planned lecture here.Photo via Getty / Mike Coppola / AD https://www.papermag.com/anna-delvey-harvard-lecture-2659344753.html

Southhampton
Waaa Senin pagi jam 10.55 am. Ku sudah di VHL targetnya hari ini adalah: menulis paragraf 5.5. discussion section (Implication of the finding in this study to hydrocarbon system), sama mulai ngedraf slide buat presentasi meeting hari Jumat nanti kali ya. Dah 2 goal itu dulu aja deh for today. Gausah muluk-muluk Non.
Jadi, most of the time, ku kebagian pax untuk dikoreksinya jauh lebih sedikit dibandingkan juri di sub-bidang lain.
Terus yaudah life goes on aja kan gitu, sampai akhirnya tiba-tiba Mba Mita ngabarin via dm ig April lalu kalau doi sudah di UK! Wah sangat senang kan. Apalagi ku literally gapunya teman main sekarang…
Apalagi si Southhampton ini look over English channel kan.
Mungkin next time.
Terus yaudah ku langsung lihat kalender kan, kosong weekend kapan. Terus diputuskanlah 10 Juni... Tapi ini a good thing juga sih, ku jadi bisa jalan-jalan di cuaca yang lebih hangat. Kalau earlier kemarin ku ke Southhamptonnya, mungkin masih dingin banget dan ga bisa enjoy the day as much as I did yesterday.
Ku juga baru booking kereta pas weekday menuju weekend kemarin. Tapi senangnya punya agenda pas weekend tuh, bisa jadi motivasi kita untuk get through the week banget!! Ku kalau udah STRES capek banget sama kerjaan selalu me-remind myself: “GAPAPA NON LETS GO PUSH THROUGH! NANTI WEEKEND BISA TIDUR MALAM BANGUN SIANG!!! Atau KE LONDON MAKAN KOREA ENAK!!! Atau KE LONDON NONTON TULUS/BEYONCE!!!” which is a good working method for me….
Terus Southhampton sendiri: SANGAT BESAR??!
Btw oot tapi percaya gak, ku seumur hidup 30 tahun belum pernah masuk IKEA... Not even the one in Alsut,,, atau di Paris,,, Di Oxford tu gaada IKEA… terdekat dari sini tu di Reading....
Other than the place itself, what makes a trip fun and memorable is always: the company. Kayak.. Ini berlaku secara positively ataupun the other way around ya.
Terus yang ku-observe: orang-orang yang flourishing in life, yang blooming, ya mereka-mereka yang emang environmentnya sangat supportive – Alhamdulillahnya ku bisa bilang, termasuk aku, dan juga Mba Mita (sejauh yang kutahu ya). I am not saying here that Mba Mita (atau bahkan diriku sendiri) didn’t/don’t/won’t have our own battle to fight, kita nggak yang kerjaannya ongkang-ongkang kaki doang gitu, nggak, sama sekali nggak, tapi yang membedakan lebih ke: attitude(?). How we/these people view the fight itself.
Mungkin mereka ada trauma(?) yang bikin mereka takut banget sama “the idea of failure”. Mungkin mereka dulu ga berhasil perform well di sekolah dan akhirnya dimarahin sama guru/orangtua mereka(?). Atau mereka pernah melewati harsh experience lainnya yang bikin mereka subconciously mikir “mending ga nyoba sama sekali deh, daripada gagal”, WHICH IS FAIR. Menurutku, amat sangat fair.
Jangan sampai amit-amit kita jadi alasan orang ga mau /takut nyoba sesuatu (apply scholarship, misalnya, atau apply kerjaan) karena kita pernah ada salah ngomong sama mereka, biasanya yang maksudnya well-meaning tapi come across as too harsh for them. INI PESAN UNTUKKU JUGA SIH: aku kadang berusaha terlalu objective banget sama Personal Statement orang (literally aku ga kenal mereka, gatau mereka di rumah kondisinya gimana, sekolah mereka gimana, mereka Cuma minta tolong aja di DM twitter/insta/linkedin), terus standar yang kupake standar Oxford… kabur lah semua orang. Besok-besok lebih kind Non!
Lah jadi ngalor ngidul ini udah halaman ke-3 HVS A4…
OK balik lagi ke mana ya. OH iya!
Terus kita jadi lihat P&O cruises! Barusan ku cek websitenya ada last minute deals cuma 679GBP include return flight London-Malta for 7 days lagi……
Dah gitu aja. Selamat menjalani week teman-teman!!!
