Seven Sentence Sunday

I ended up missing on Fuck It Friday, and Insp Saturday was very quiet, so lets kick-start some 7SS!

A little more 6x12 ‘Sleep outside your door’ coda...

The sound is familiar - the slight stick of a door that’s too big for its frame catching, and the bumping of socked feet on laminate moving further away from the living room, towards the source of the snoring.

Quickly, quietly, he pads over and grabs the door handle, pulls and meets the wide startled eyes of his son - sans crutches, bedhead askew but looking far too awake for a school night.

Chris. 

His son stares at him, mouth clicking shut, taking in his appearance in the doorway - ruffled sleep shirt, wildly carded hair, a hint of panic in his eyes that Eddie knows he can't hide from his son at this moment. 

“What are you doing u-”

“I heard you. You were going to check on him too, right?” Chris questions, voice quiet, barely reaching Eddie's ears. 

A breath stalls in his throat, sticking and making him swallow thickly. 

“Yeah. Yeah Bud, I was.” 

“Can I join you?” The earnestness of the tone makes Eddie's heart ache, with each clench of the muscle. “I don't want him to wake up alone with the thunder…”

A little more 6x12 ‘Sleep outside your door’ coda 🚪

Buck’s still snoring, most likely drooling into one of Eddie’s pillows whilst bear-hugging another to his chest.

That brings him some modicum of comfort. That image of Buck, one he saw every night for months in the loft's king bed over the pandemic, played out next to him.

Feeling the younger man’s sleep-warmth, hearing his snuffling when he laid on his side, or those saw-toothed boneshakers when he flipped onto his back, before Eddie had learned a gentle nudge would curl Buck towards him like a flower following the sunlight.

Something soft wraps itself around Eddie as he indulges in that memory, helping to let the panic that had gripped him continue to evaporate like puddles in the new morning sun.

Started playing around with the bg~ I want to increase the light effect a bit more, but that can be done after I get the real creature motion in because I know I need to change the timing on that rear back and scream more. Gotta over squish and squash it a bit for that pop. (And the limbs aren't even pretending to be right.)
