Final Boss: What's the deal with Fomortiis?

Here's the final boss, "Fodesu", or "Fomortiis" as the name has been rendered in English translation. I actually only just noticed now when I looked up the name to confirm the spelling that there are two i's in a row!?

Also, is it just me, or is it strange that the Demon King has an actual name that no one ever uses, and the only way to know it is to look at the stat screen in this final battle and see it below the portrait? Like, no one ever says this name in any of the dialogue!

The Demon King has a lotta stats! But it's not actually as bad as it looks. We have legendary weapons, and they're effective.

Fomortiis has 3 weapons.

*Ahem* (Starts best Owain impression)

"Destroying Demon Fist!"

"Corrupted Demon Light!"

"Evil Dream of Darkness!"

"The Demon's Fist which invites the destruction of all things!"

"The demon light which destroys everything!"

Oh, this one has an actual description of what it does.

"Puts all surrounding enemies in a deep sleep."

Fomortiis starts just above us, in range of Eirika and Ephraim, but just out of range of most other units.

Like it said on the stat screen, Fomortiis only has 2 move. So checking the range shows that. Also, the currently equipped Demon Fist weapon is a 1-range weapon.

Here's an example of how important the Sacred Weapons are. Ephraim attacking with his personal starting lance, Reginleif, (overall a very good weapon) does 0 damage to the boss. However, if he switches to the second personal weapon, Siegmund, that he got in Renais, he can do 20 x 2 damage.

Similarly, Eirika, who we know is no powerhouse, can do 10 x 2 damage if she uses the Sieglinde weapon she got in Renais.

The closet is glass. I have them both married but they definitely have an arrangement. I did make the mistake of marrying them to the royal siblings so now Ophelia and Soleil are cousins which is unfortunate. Though I guess now technically they're like a big family so I won't look a gift horse in the mouth
