I freely admit, I'm still a sucker for teamed-up legends. This is definitely a natural pairing, though it does open up the question of what the type it should be when you combine an artifact and a nonartifact creature into the same card. I don't think there's a right answer, although I tend to agree with nonartifact in this case, given Codie would barely come up to Jadzi's waist. I'm rambling, though, let's get back to the card. That's a lot of mana to be getting free every turn, though like the original Codie it comes with a pretty heavy restriction as to how it can be applied. It's kind of a shame that so many effects have to exile the card first rather than casting it from the library, though. I'm a big fan of how their future sight effect is limited to a measly three types, which encourages you to find other similar effects to fill in the gaps and really burn that WUBRG.

Always love to see the return of the Kaladeshi X/X Construct token, and this card in particular is a very lovely callback to Oviya Pashiri's work. There's a pretty wild amount of variance to just rolling the bones with this one, though scry and its contemporaries are common enough that it's not unrealistic at all to stack the deck a bit in advance. The big draw for me is the populating on what would be normally considered a miss, because it retains a lot of the variance while performing a notably different function. It's interesting that the only way to get the populate is to whiff, too, because it opens up situations where hitting a low-cost card is actually worse than a land if there's something in particular you want to copy. Still, that's the price you pay for the potential to wheel out huge tokens on the regular.

Okay, so first off: a card this game-warping should absolutely be at least a rare. With that said, I'm not going to let that make me discount the card entirely, because I'm otherwise a huge fan. The idea of metaphorically daring your opponent to take the bait on a fishing rod—shame it doesn't cast spells though—is extremely cute by itself, but the minigame itself fascinates me. The opponent you single out knows exactly what's in it for you if they accept the deal, and there's always an option to decline and leave you with a draw and a fish, which is still okay value at the cost. The fact that the cards have to be the same mana value also alters the dynamic quite a bit, and puts a lot of the power in your hands. After all, you're generally putting forth a card that you would very much like to get out, while the opponent has to match your pace if they want to get anything out of it, and even if they do have a matching card there's no guarantee it's something they actually want. While I understand not wanting this to be able to ramp lands, I'm a bit confused why the stipulation is mana value 1 or greater instead of just saying "nonland."

Geography of the Lost-Earth alchemy world:

The second image shows the 3 Ley-line networks constructed by the ancient Altae people (named by modern people as the Altaic Network [black], the Lost-Earth Network [purple], and the Western Passage Network [green]). Several major differences from our world can be seen on the map, the most eminently obvious likely being the line that covers the equator. This is called Oviya's Line. It's a crevasse ~1km deep, it's walls and floor are perfectly level, and the trench floor is covered in ancient and mostly untranslated text and symbols that appear to likely be part of a large scale alchemical ritual. The trench is believed to have been constructed by the Altae people.
