HAS YOUR CAT BEEN PLACED ON A CALORIE RESTRICTED DIET? WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS! Help our group at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Angell Animal Medical Center understand why some cats are better at losing weight after being placed on a diet! We’re looking for volunteers with a pet cat previously placed on a diet by their veterinarian after being diagnosed as overweight or obese (Body Condition Score of 6 or greater on a 9-point scale). Any reduced calorie diet qualies (e.g., a diet prescribed by your veterinarian, a low-calorie diet that was purchased over-the-counter, or your cat was fed the same diet with reduced intake). Cats are eligible whether or not they lost weight after dieting! Additional eligibility criteria include: must be indoor-only, 4 to 11 years of age, have no known gastrointestinal disorders or recent lower gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea, and given no antibiotics within the last 6 months. Participant responsibilities include: ▪ Signing a virtual consent form ▪ A one-time stool sample collection from your pet ▪ Returning the sample and a brief questionnaire using a prepaid shipping label that we provide IF YOU'D LIKE MORE INFORTMATION REGARDING THE STUDY, PLEASE CONTACT OUR TEAM!

Tumblr, I need help in identifying what kind of cat my cat is.

I think he may be at least part Maine Coon, but I got this boy from a rescue and before that he was a stray for 2 years. So he doesn't have anything official stating his breed (or coat name, I'd also like help in identifying that.)

This is him, he's got a sweet temperament and he's a giant (both figuratively and literally) baby. He's about 17 lbs last I checked, there's comparison photos of him beside my mother's regular sized cat as well for scale. He's very fluffy and soft, and is quite the talker as well.

Got a good grade at our annual checkup this morning. (Don’t let her sweet face fool you, she would have bolted outta there if allowed.)

I genuinely do not know if me or my cat is the one playing with the feather toy at this point

She likes the stick more than the feather, and sometimes she'll just kind of??? Hold the stick???

Anyway today i was playing feather toy with her (as all good cat dads do) and she just? Grabbed the stick once we were done, and proceeded to shake it so that the feather moved? She did this until i grabbed it and repeated the action three times before throwing the stick at the ground. (Depicted below)

If she ever does this again i will be taking a video of it but like????

What is this??? Am I the cat? Am I a fool trained to catch a little feather for her? Confused and scared.

we had a couple delivery guys come by this morning with our new couch and posy wandered over to see them, and one of them asked if she was still a kitten bc she was so small and she has been riding that high all day long

kind of frustrating that people took "fat does not equal unhealthy" to mean "fat is not unhealthy." sometimes being obese IS unhealthy & excess fat can cause a lot of problems. ignoring health issues isn't progressive. real "oranges kill people with depression" moment
