In the modern AU what are Louis' and Lestat's favorite books, movies, shows, atc? Are they in any fandoms? What about when they were younger? How cringe were they?
This is such a cute question omg
Adult Louis is an avid but secret watcher of trashy reality TV. His favorite is Real Housewives or anything on TLC, but he's been known to enjoy an episode or two of KUWTK, Love Island, and Big Brother. Lestat also likes these because it's hot people being mean, one of his favorite things. Cooking shows are Louis' favorite little treat for bad mental health days too. He's not picky, but it has to be something soothing.
He'll tell you about the long-winded classics he's read until you're ready to blow your brains out, but he is also a harlequin romance enjoyer and semi-regular erotic novel consumer (he thinks it's more respectable than porn). You couldn't waterboard that out of him though.
His favorite movies are mostly romances, especially older ones like Casablanca, Roman Holiday, and Gone with the Wind (and Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast like his canon counterpart), but also 90s tearjerkers like Shakespeare in Love, The English Patient, and Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet (also like in canon).
If you ask though, his favorite movie is Citizen Kane. Shut up Lestat.
His taste in media has been pretty consistent throughout his life. Louis is nothing if not a lonely, daydreamy little guy in every universe, so he was definitely watching those same movies as a teenager with his nose pressed against the TV after everyone went to bed, wanting to feel love and be loved like that. He'd watch those mind-numbing historical epics like Cleopatra and Ben-Hur too. He loved the history and spectacle, but also the fantasy of it, the strength and escapism he wanted for himself.
In reality though, he was definitely writing porny gay fanfic in a super secret notebook, but weird Louis shit like Dorian Gray/Henry Wotton and Maurice Hall/Alec Scudder. It was kinda sad.
The soundtrack to his crying and gay porn writing was basically just The Smiths, The Cure, Tori Amos, and depressing 60s folk albums (Simon & Garfunkel got a lot of play time in his bedroom). He still likes that sort of thing, but 90s singer-songwriter and acoustic sort of confessional songs are his favorite.
I think for both of them this post applies as far as music taste.
Lestat is also an appreciator of shitty media, but he likes so-bad-it's-good franchise movies like Twilight, Superman, Transformers, and Saw. Whether he likes them ironically or sincerely is anyone's guess. At the very least he throws in some decently respectable choices like Star Wars.
He's also a big slasher guy, especially the iconic killers like Michael Meyers, Freddy Kreuger, Leatherface etc. Louis pretends not to like them, but he always lingers in the living room when they're on. On the flip side, screwball comedies are a favorite of his as well, the highest repeat rate going to Dumb and Dumber, Anchorman, The Big Lebowski, and Strange Brew. He's got t-shirts for them too.
Soaps are his go-to for TV, the longer and more convoluted the better. He knows ALL the Days of Our Lives lore and he's seen every episode of Grey's Anatomy twice. He's going to explain it to you if you let him. And if Louis complains, Lestat can reminds him he knows all the Kardashian-Jenner baby names and watches the old episodes of Project Runway Lestat pirated in the bathroom with the door locked.
Reading independently isn't a big thing for Lestat, but he loves to be read TO. High and historical fantasy are his favorites, and Louis has read him all the LotR and Outlander books out loud during their cuddle hours.
He's an easy sell for music, really anything extremely stimulating. His favorites are glam and 80s rock like Bowie, Queen, T. Rex, New York Dolls, Kiss, and AC/DC, but also glittery hyperpop-ish stuff like Grimes, Poppy, Charli XCX, and Rico Nasty. Whatever scratches his little rodent brain. His playlists are sensory overload and they make Louis shake like a chihuahua.
Teenage Lestat was surprisingly subdued because of his home life. He liked to watch movies and television that took him out of reality and fed his fantasies of running away and becoming a star. Velvet Goldmine and Party Monster were frequent fliers, but lots of fantasy and sci-fi that was an escape and daydream fodder as well.
Most of his music was showtunes, all songs he could sing under his breath while he imagined he was a beloved theater actor instead of a kid trapped in rural France.

omg i love aus where characters interact with our world it’s so self indulgent :D you talked about how zuko and toph would be into rock and hip hop, what do you think the other characters would listen to?
It's one of my most self-indulgent ideas. Right up there with my CaptainMe headcanon.
I feel like everyone's taste would be pretty eclectic, tbh. There would be a lot of overlap. Katara would love indie folk, though. I think she'd be a huge Alexz Johnson fan. She'd also love bands like Fleetwood Mac. Alt rock would be right up her alley, too. R&B would have her in a chokehold when she's deep in her feelings. When she breaks up with Aang Emotional Rollercoaster by Viviane Green would be on rotation for 3 days straight, and tell me she wouldn't insist on dancing to Spend My Life With You by Eric Benet and Tamia.
Sokka would love rock and rap, but his secret love would be pop music. Levitating by Dua Lipa is absolutely on his workout playlist. He also likes artists like Beyonce, Usher and Jason Derulo, and Justin Timberlake before his bizarre foray into...what was that album supposed to be? Country? Was it meant to be country?
Speaking of country, Suki is the biggest country fan of the group. Not to say it's her favorite genre, but she likes a lot of female country acts, like Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood.
Aang...I don't know... I feel like he'd be into some genre of music, but I honestly can't imagine what that would be. I think he would have really narrow tastes. His music preference would overlap the least with his friends.
Bonus: Iroh would be super into the Motown style music. The Isley Brothers, Al Green, The Temprees, Patti Labell and the Bluebells...He'd own all the vinyl's.
#atla#what's on the gaang's playlists?#katara#sokka#suki#aang#iroh#seriously what kind of music do you think aang would like?#zutara

what music do you think Bruce and Hal listen to?
Bruce: He doesn’t listen to music that often (I think he'd find everything other than classical music distracting when he's working), but I think he likes most genres, though his preference is actually mostly 70's-90's disco and pop. You'll have to pry Bruce being a Prince fan from my cold dead hands thanks to my fave post ever. I think the kids help keep him pretty up to date with current music trends and stars and he keeps an ear out on the local Gotham music scene, so while he wouldn't claim to be that big a music guy he can recommend you like 50 (sometimes undiscovered) bands (here, have my other fave music related Bruce post).
Hal: Hal on the other hand is not on earth enough to keep up with anything past the 90's. Classic rock dad type music for this guy (Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd make me think of him most), but I know in my heart that he dances round his kitchen to Britney, putting his whole ass into his one man performance of Toxic when no one is watching.
I think they'd have a decent overlap in music taste, even if Hal probably dies laughing when he first sees Bruce's playlists. He was expecting death metal, not Club Tropicana.
#asks#hal jordan#bruce wayne#batlantern#kit.posts#bruce so had a crush on george michael. who said that.#oh ALSO. they both have good singing voices. bruce would only get caught singing in his brucie wayne persona but i know he's got it in him#and i like to think hal sings with dinah just casually like when they're on road trips or whatever

Serious question, not trying to start a fight: If you're aware of the possibility of Wally and Home's relationship being like that of family, and you've made it clear you don't ship incest, why risk shipping them together at all, even if it's in a "toxic yuri" sort of way?
traffic was so bad that i was an hour late to class so now you all get to watch me poke this bear. response under the cut for discussions of familial abuse, incest, and a brief mention of csa.
serious answer: the home that exists as a representation of a past that never was/never will be again, or as a representation of The House Of American Suburbia Fame built with the intent of superseding the need for/being directly responsible for all of its inhabitant's other relationships (platonic, romantic, familial, etc.) existing, and the home that exists as a representation Specifically of an abusive family member, exist in two separate planes of reality to me. these planes are not above each other, i think. they are on the same level of plausibility. but they do not overlap, and the fact is that i am simply much more interested in the former than the latter. i realize that "i think the more popular fanon interpretation of them as parent and child is boring" is kind of a flippant answer to a question as heavy as this but, well. i do think that interpretation is pretty boring lol. also probably doesn't help that i see it get used to infantilize wally a lot. a mutual obsession whose end goal of total social supersession can never be fulfilled without coming at a great cost to one or both parties is something i find much more compelling, and gives much more agency to both parties.
in the hypothetical event that these two realities Do end up intersecting, however - even in the event that they intersect in a way where i could interpret their dynamic to be that of incestuous abuse - well. i would simply no longer be comfortable calling it a ship! that does not mean i would no longer be interested in analyzing their relationship; horror is all about exploring the Unpleasantries of life, after all. but the approach and the language would change; i would no longer be comfortable exploring it through the lens of shipping, i personally find that pretty distasteful. i believe that just because it is A lens through which people have analyzed that type of dynamic before does not mean it is the Ideal lens - far from it, in my experience as a (former) child with sexual trauma who grew up on the internet. but i digress. the fact of the matter right now is that nothing has happened that would cause such a shift in behavior for me. ergo, i intend to live it up for as long as i can and declare that wally and home's relationship is both one that cannot be defined by paltry human terms and one so intense and passionate that it will also go up in flames bright enough to make fleetwood motherfucking mac collectively fall to their knees and weep.
also, a funnier but still serious alternate answer: i spent nearly my entire adolescence as a husk of a person, and what ultimately got me out of it was getting into smile for me at age 18 - and subsequently, the rest of yugo limbo's work. i was reborn and reshaped in the objectum trenches. this did not necessarily make me objectum in turn, but i feel i owe something to that crowd as a result.
#anonymous#ask#soapboxing#i'm not putting this in the fandom tags and im not making it rebloggable bc my goal is to hold my audience hostage#not get assassinated

My Angua Playlist! I Didn't like Angua much at first but she won me over, and now she's enough my fave to have earned a playlist. my beautiful girl with a disorder, theres so much complex stuff going on with her relationship to herself, her family, carrot, the watch. i love revolving it all in my head. Theres some intentional overlap with Vimes's . Explanations under the read more as usual
Angua is a cynical pessimist, she's so sure she's going to be abandoned, that she'll slip back into her old bad ways, that she'll be attacked for what she is and have to run again. she always has one foot out of the door:
Fast Car by Tracy Chapman
Haunted House by Sir Babygirl (this one especially nails the "everything is doomed i just dont want it to hurt too much" vibes of early Angua)
In the Blood from Hades
Nothing Good from Centaurworld
Lets Get This Over With by TMBG
Evelyn by Kim Tillman
Run Boy Run by Woodkid
Too Much Time by John Vanderslice
the Angua and Carrot vibes. sweet in many ways but they also have a doomed romance (as in, doomed to be in a romance) thing going on thats bonkers and very fun to rotate in my mind, especially when its in tension with angua's instincts to run:
Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men
Between My Teeth by Orla Garland
Stray Italian Greyhound by Vienna Tang
I Scare Myself by Thomas Dolby
The Bright Side by TMBG
Absentee by Jack Campbell
I like You for Psychological Reasons by TMBG (genuinely thee carrot/angua theme song in my mind)
The Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine (yes this is dog themed no it doesnt go in the dog themes section, the horses are carrot and finding a home in the watch)
Tounges and Teeth by The Crane Wives
Landslide by Fleetwood Mac
Sight of the Sun by .fun ("I used to run at first sight of the sun but now I lay here waiting for you to wake up")
King and Lionheart by of Monsters and Men
Despite being a pessimist, despite having been a killer, despite her family wanting her to go back to being that, and strangers still seeing her as a monster, shes better. she's trying:
Get Better by Frank Turner
Getting There by Mustard Service
Its My Way by Buffy Sainte Marie (gritting my teeth on this one, buffy was recently exposed as a horrific liar and a fraud who faked being native, but also unfortunatley this song still fits angua very well and i still like it)
Changes by David bowie
Arsonist's Lullaby by Hozier
I'm Me by Vanessa from Phineas and Ferb (LISTEN, HEAR ME OUT, it's a little silly but so is angua sometimes)
This Year by The Mountain Goats
sorry for stereotyping you Angua but here's the werewolf/dog/monster songs, :
Maneater by Hall & Oates
Control by Halsey
Senses Working Overtime by XTC
Hey Bulldog by The Beatles
Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon
Freakshow by The Gothic Archies (specifically vibes with her being undead, and all the stuff people think about that in universe)
Turn The Lights Off by Tally Hall
I wanna Be Your Dog by AJJ
misc:
Music With Rocks In by Louie Zong
Synopsis for the Latecomers by TMBG (city watch vibes, i always imagined she's the next commander rather than carrot)
#angua von uberwald#discworld#angua#playlist#carrot ironfoundersson#rotating her and carrot in my mind#add any reccomendations you have!#Spotify

🍓🍻 and 🥃 for Siavash
Thanks Embers! 💕💕
🍓: Does your OC have any particular scents they like? Or hate?
One of his most significant moments is in Desna’s temple in Kenabres when he's transported to Elysium by Aranka’s song. The strawberries-and-jasmine scent of Elysium stays with him as a reminder of that wonderful place, his soul’s home. Baking cookies ranks right up there too 🦋
His choice of personal scent is something like sandalwood or patchouli with floral notes. He describes Woljif’s scent as fresh rain and woodsmoke and it drives him a little bit crazy.
Smells he hates: sulfur (looking at you, Meph). Also the absolute reek of a whole barn full of goats burning down (Baphomet).
🍻: What's your OC's favourite comfort ritual? How do they calm themselves down after a rough day?
Answered here!
🥃: If your OC was in this universe, what would be their favourite show/book/band/social media platform?
I really had to ponder these. Hardest thing is separating his taste from my own.
Favorite show.... He could really get invested in one of those reality shows where they drop people on a desert island and they have to survive and fall in love? But I don’t know what I’m talking about because I never watch that kind of thing, I guess you can tell. He would LOVE ATLA.
As for book(s) – I would lend him all my Discworld books and the Master and Commander series (no hope of getting them back I guess) and I hope he’d like them. But I think so. He’d enjoy the adventure, humor and the great characters and relationships.
On social media he would love to connect with people (and show off) on Insta but the overall vibe would put him off. Never give this man TikTok – just keep him away from it. He might have a YouTube channel with wholesome guitar lessons, like the Bob Ross of guitar.
Favorite musician/band... also incredibly difficult because he has eclectic taste and so do I but do our tastes overlap...? Hozier would be his idol. I think he’d love oldies by the great talents like Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel, David Bowie, David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Earth Wind & Fire, Tim Buckley, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Kate Bush, Pearl Jam. Stuff with heart and soul.

Stevie: I wanna say one thing, because I have it here and I want to get it out of the way, I don't want to forget to do it before we hang up. I would've thought that you would've written more like me, and now I don't know if you or George wrote this part, but I'm just gonna read you something that makes me think that you would take your formal poems. But also there's a line in this that's one of the reasons that I totally fell in love with your lyrics, because… Anyway, I'm just gonna read this to you, okay? So it says, "She's inducing sleep to avoid pain/And I think she's got a gun /Divinely decreed and custom made /She calls on the phone like the old days, expecting the world /Don't fall in love with the moment and think you're in love with the girl". I think that "Don't fall in love with the moment and think you're in love with the girl," first of all, that's just like my life, right? Matty: Yeah, right? Stevie: That made me… The way that these words are, I would think that you actually started with words and that you didn't start with music. Between you and George, and I don't know where you begin and he ends because you know, I understand that symbiotic thing that you guys have. Unless you tell them, nobody's ever gonna know, but the fact is that your lyrics are – and I don't even wanna say lyrics, your poetry is like, so good and so seductive and so intriguing. I mean there's all kinds of great sexy words I could use, but it's like… I just love it.

ahh thank u for asking!! 🫶🏻 so i ended up making a 70 song playlist for u… which was clearly outside the scope of this ask ahaha, but i was inspired by the challenge of trying to find songs u hadn’t heard of lol (& I think we have overlapping? music taste) so this is the product of killing a lot of darlings and also keeping far too many… it’s far too many but it’s fewer than 70! i tried to only include songs i thought u didn’t already know so hopefully u haven’t heard of most of these (I feel like u kno a lot of music so that was tricky, e.g., i kept wanting to add the magnetic fields songs but i saw u kno them LOL) :)

Giving Itzy An Album
[my top ten itzy songs]
Okay so, I've been wanting to do this for forever! I'm a really big fan of Itzy, and, like every fan of Itzy, I see SO much unused potential in their music. The members have this ridiculously attention-grabbing presence on their songs, and I just think they would be fantastic rock stars!! (I was there when "Nobody Like You" dropped, and I'll never forget it.) So, through this post, I'll be making my Itzy-rock vision a (sort of) reality.
Album Title: kiss & cry
Concept: Your dad's hazy memories of the 70s. Brightly colored, heavily romanticized, aggressively chill, a tad bit psychedelic!
1. Round & Round -- iiso
I mean, this is a kpop album! So I wanted the album intro to be something that's trippy in a house-music kind of way, on-trend but still blending well with my carefree, psychedelic-rock-inspired vision for this album.
2. WORLDEND -- negoto (TITLE TRACK A)
When I say Itzy are rock stars in my heart, I mean this. I love the members' vocal tones, but so many of their releases don't seem to have any idea at all about what suits them. Negoto, though, has vocals that I find beautiful in the same way I do Itzy's--they're unusual, fascinating, and they bring SO much energy to the table. And that's why I've been dreaming of hearing Itzy on this song for three years now! With a melody like this, already designed to bring the best out of a whiny vocal style, I think Itzy would sound absolutely wonderful. This song is very pop-leaning, and there's just SOOO much energy in that chorus--Itzy deserves a song like this, 100%.
3. Scarlet Begonias - Live at Barton Hall, Cornell... -- The Grateful Dead (PRE-RELEASE)
Yes, I'm going to leave this song exactly as it is, except for adding Itzy's voices to it. Yes, there will be a two-minute sample at the beginning, consisting of The Grateful Dead asking the audience to please take some steps back. (It fills me with joy every single time I listen to this song. You can't make me get rid of it.) Yes, it will be 11 minutes long. (Look, after a release as boilerplate as "Cake", I reserve the right to make this one a little weird! I don't even mind "Cake" as much as most people seem to, but let me have my thing.) With its cheery melodies and humorous youthfulness, I think "Scarlet Begonias" fits Itzy better than you'd expect!
4. Ah Yeah -- Hyolyn
I don't know, this one just felt right! It's light and fluffy and a little strange--that weird distorted instrumental is so Itzy to me! I also love the way rapping & singing kind of overlap, running into each other, in the prechorus. I think the members could really show off their skills in this one! I actually think its vibe fits quite well alongside "Scarlet Begonias", too, despite all the genre (and era) differences!
5. shinkaigyo -- The Back Horn (PROMOTED B-SIDE)
"Ringo" but better. Though a lot of the other songs on this album aren't super dance-y, a choreography to "shinkaigyo" would be KILLER. So much intensity, and that BASSLINE??? I love that this track brings Itzy weirdness to rock, and it also has this really satisfying chorus that, I dare say, we all loved so much about early Itzy tracks like "Wannabe".
6. Love Spell -- GFRIEND (TITLE TRACK B)
Itzy's music tends to lean into these cool-girl personas, with lots of attitude & ad-libs, but I've strayed away for it from most of this album--"Love Spell", though, has that classic Itzy attitude, with some great rock influences, too! (guitar go grrrrrrrr it brings me so much joy)
7. I Know I'm Not Wrong -- Fleetwood Mac
A little silly, a little angsty, with absolutely incessant energy in its instrumental--I can see Itzy having SOOO much fun with this!
8. BEEP BEEP -- Ruann
What's a psychedelic-rock inspired album without some gorgeous tropical house to zone out to? Okay, yeah, this album would probably be fine without it. But like, it fits too well? And after "Bratty", I need more cutesy music from them!
9. Chill -- Chung Ha
Itzy's vocal power that really draws me to them, and I think "Chill" is a perfect song to center that. It's straightforward, with melody lines that are blunt & heavy-hitting--I think it could be pretty easily rearranged into a ballad/soft song that would bring out the best in the Itzy members' vocals.
10. joyrider -- second thoughts
Peak Itzy + guitar agenda--this song is just so much fun?? It's not really a happy song, but it feels just as euphoric as classic Itzy hype tracks are, and I think their vocals have the perfect energy to carry a half-angsty, half-humorous chorus like this one.
11. Stop Making This Hurt -- Bleachers
This track is literally made for screaming karaoke on the highway, and I know Itzy have the energy to do it justice & make it our comfort song of the year.

The overlap between practicing astrology bitches and Fleetwood Mac fans is apparently less than you might think because I have no idea how there aren’t full analyses out there about the group’s synastry (synastries?).
#Stevie and Lindsey’s especially is *Stefon voice* spicy#fleetwood mac#stevie nicks#lindsey buckingham#astrology#edit because I fucked up with the lack of and less thing

headcannons for marauders era characters' fav period accurate genre and artists because they can't all only listen to queen and bowie
(@queerdeadwizards and @todayiseverything)
james: yacht rock, supertramp, stealers wheel, the beach boys (he's here for good times and easy listening okay, also i love these bands so)
remus: punk, ian dury, the clash, x-ray specs (my current personal favs)
peter: british blues rock, zeppelin, clapton, the animals (and he never talks about it)
sirius: glam rock, queen, bowie, t.rex (but like actually i really think this okay it just fits them)
lily: folk rock, fleetwood mac, bob dylan, the mamas and the papas (actually has a lot of overlap with james's taste in music, she talks to him about it sometimes)
dorcas: avant-garde jazz, sonny sharrock, pharaoh sanders, frank write (it doesn't sound good but it sounds interesting, art-house music)
marlene: british feminist rock, devil's dykes. clapperclaw, jam today (really interesting sub-culture, hard to find online sometimes but worth the dig)
mary: disco, kc sunshine and the band, kool and the gang, the beegees (she likes to dance okay)
regulus: 50s pop/jazz, chet baker, the platters, the mills brothers (reg is a pop girlie and an old soul, he loves this stuff and i stand by it)
barty: new wave, talking heads, joy division, bauhaus (i don't really have a reason i just associate it with him)
evan: german import synthrock, kraftwerk, tangerine dream, klaus schulze (think 80s berlin underground clubs, this is the precursor to that type of music)
pandora: psychedelic; donovan, comus, vashti bunyan (whimsical, like her)
#some of these are period accurate as in they could have listened to it n the 70s not as in they're all actually 70s artists#quite a few are from a bit earlier but i also think that's quite realistic#i loved coming up with this i love music sm#marauders#music recs#gwen speaks

48. Mirotic tvxq . Oh mein gott. The man the myth the legend...
99. Go your own way Fleetwood Mac. Very solid and i guarantee this is on here because Fleetwood Mac is basically the only overlap between me and my brother's music taste
