You weren’t sure how long it had been since you ended up stuck in Mount Massive Asylum. Days? Weeks? You had lost track by now. It had all blended together at this point.

But strangely enough, there was one person in this place that made being trapped in that hell more bearable. Eddie Gluskin.

You still remembered it all to this day. Running for your life within the maze-like corridors of the asylum, bleeding and fearing for your life, before collapsing from exhaustion. That’s when Eddie had found you, taking you to the vocational block and caring for you until you were better.

It was odd, how someone like him was trapped in a place such as Mount Massive Asylum. From what you had seen, he did have quite a temper, and yet, he was always trying to keep himself together. For you.

And even now, fully healed, you didn’t find yourself wanting to leave. Like you had gotten attached to him. Was he dangerous? Without a doubt, but you couldn’t find yourself being scared of him. His anger and temper was mostly directed at the other patients, thankfully, and even knowing that, you still found yourself being drawn to him.

Eddie was currently humming to himself, sewing together another piece of clothing from the scraps he had found around the hallways while you sat nearby, watching as he worked.

He held it up, examining it closely. “Hmmm… what do you think of this, darling? Do you believe it needs any tweaks?”

Leaning forward in your seat, you looked at his creation. “Looks great as usual, Eddie.”

Eddie grinned. “You flatter me, darling.” He placed it back down before looking back over to you. “You know… I can always make something for you.”

You raised your eyebrows. “Me?” You questioned, pointing to yourself. “You want to make something for… me?”

Eddie stood up, walking over to you. “Of course, darling! I’d love love to, in fact!”

You crossed your arms, rubbing your upper arms with your hands. “I don’t know, Eddie… You already do a lot for me, I don’t want to trouble you.”

“Nonsense, darling!” Eddie said with a wave of his hand. “I just know you’d look stunning. Much better than these clothes you’re wearing now.”

Carefully, he took one of your arms in his hands, running his fingers over the fabric of the hoodie you had been wearing. You quickly pulled your arm back, shocking him. “Darling? Is everything alright?” Eddie questioned, concern in his voice.

You took a breath, nodding as you fixed the sleeve. “Yeah… I’m fine.“

Eddie knelt down, taking one of your hands in both of his. “Darling, something’s bothering you. I can tell from the look on your face.” He squeezed your hand a little. “What’s troubling you? Tell me.”

Clenching your fists, you took in a breath as you glanced at him. “You won’t… judge me when I show you?”

He shook his head. “Of course not, darling. Just talk to me.”

Hesitantly, you grabbed the sleeve of your hoodie and pulled it up, revealing scars all along your forearm. Eddie’s eyes went wide as you showed them, when you pulled up your other sleeve, revealing even more on your other arm.

Eddie took your arms in his hands, holding them like they were made of glass. He said nothing for a long while, just sat there as he looked at the scars.

“Oh… oh, darling… What have you been through?” Eddie quietly said, gently rubbing his thumbs over the scars.

You said nothing, watching as he looked at the scars. “Is… this why why you’ve been so adamant on not wanting me to make you something? You didn’t want me to see these?”

Silently, you nodded as you took in a shaky breath. “Yeah… I was.”

Eddie finally looked up at you, squeezing your hands in his. “Did you think I’d think less of you for this?” He shook his head. “Darling, I would never. Look at me, I have scars of my own on full display. You don’t think less of me for them, do you?”

You finally looked at him, shaking your head. “No…”

“Then why would I ever, and I mean ever think less of you for having your own?” He reassured.

“I did this to myself, Eddie… It’s… it’s different from your own…” you said quietly.

Very carefully, he placed a hand on your cheek. “Darling… that doesn’t change what I think about you. These scars here? They don’t define you. Understand me?”

With a deep breath, you nodded. “Yeah… yeah, I understand.”

Eddie smiled. “Good. Now, no more hiding things from me, ok? You’re my darling, and I care so much about you. So just come to me for anything.”

“I will, Eddie,” you said quietly. “And I’m… feeling much better, now.”

Eddie stood back up, still holding your hands in his. “Now, How about we get to making that little gift I had in mind for you, hm?”

You check the peephole to be safe, and there was your man! You open the door, and he was waiting, as he was a bit nervous.  "I got you these!" He says and holds out a bouquet of red roses. He had spent the last hour picking out the best roses.  "They are beautiful, thank you!" You gush. "Let me get the vase and water for them! Come on in, dinner should be ready in a bit!"  He came in and took off his coat, hanging it up, he made mental notes of your home and is happy that there are no pictures of men in your house. 

"It smells delicious!" He calls out to you.  "Thank you! It is a family recipe!" You tell him and set the vase on the table. "These really do live up the space! Thank you again, Eddie, I just love them!" 

You two sat and talked about your days, and soon the egg timer went off. "Oh, that is the timer, let me get it out of the oven." You put on your oven mits and got it out of the oven.  That is when Eddie snuck up behind you as you set the roast to cool.  "I love you~" He whispers in your ear as he wraps his arms around you. 

You felt your heart race and cheeks turn bright red. That was the first time he said and... "I love you, too." You whisper and turn around, standing on your toes to share your first kiss as a couple~
