Outlander 31 Day Challenge: Day 24

Welcome to the Outlander 31 Day Challenge!

Today is Day 24: Favorite Jamie + Claire being silly/adorable scene

This would have to be - hands down - the adorable, amazing Drunk!Jamie scene in 01x12 “Lallybroch.” Why?

- LOVE LOVE LOVE the drunk!violin (nicely echoes the tipsy!violin when Jamie comes down the stairs in 01x07 “The Wedding”)

- Jamie thinks he’s being soooo sneaky when he comes in the door

- Claire is all sassy in a tired, “I can’t believe I married this idiot” kind of way

- Drunk!Jamie has to be asked to speak English - proof that Gaelic is his default setting

- “I had to show him the difference between abuse and discipline” - followed by the butt slap that echoed around the world. The fact that Drunk!Jamie is not-so-subtly referring to his ill-fated attempt to “discipline” Claire, and their conversations about it later at Leoch, shows just how deeply that episode has affected him

- Claire’s adorable reaction to the butt slap - oh no he didn’t!

- “I told him he’d have to answer to the laird of Broch Tuarach. That’s me!” — Seriously Jamie, are you five?

- Wait, wait, oh my God, Claire has actually seen an elephant!!

- And my absolute favorite part of the scene: the head roll. Why sit up when you can just roll all over your understanding, accommodating wife?

Day 12 - 01x12 “Lallybroch”

The 16 Days of Outlander continues…

So hands down, my favorite moment from this episode was drunk!Jamie.

Why? Let me count the ways...

Day 11: Favorite sex scene

The 25 Days of Outlander continues…

I’ll step out of the Book universe and dip into the TV series for this answer. As I covered in a post for the 30 Days of Outlander - my favorite sex scene is the one we *didn’t* see at the end of 01x12 “Lallybroch.”

Right after the achingly beautiful first exchange of “I love yous” between Jamie and Claire, Jamie sweeps Claire up in his arms and out of our view. Fading to black, so to speak - but it’s clear that he was sweeping her into bed.

Why do I love this scene so much? Because all signs point toward this being the moment when they conceived Faith. It was their last true moment of absolute happiness before MacQuarrie and his men arrived the next morning. That that moment produced a child - the one Claire never thought she could have, the one Jamie longed with all his heart to have - makes it especially poignant and beautiful.

Day 29: Most hopeless moment

Today I interpret “hopeless” to mean “Oh God, I’m hopelessly in love with this person.”

Claire’s most hopeless moment comes in 01x12 “Lallybroch” - That Look she gives Jamie when he surfaces from the burn…

This idiot. I can’t believe he does crap like this. Oh God, I love him.

Jamie’s most hopeless moment comes a bit later in this episode - right as he and Claire are getting ready for bed.

Well then. I dinna care if she’s insulting my ancestors’ naming abilities. She looks so bonny in that white shift. A Dhia, I love her.
