Today is 6 years of being a Nevermoor fan and fittingly I've reached 300 followers, so thank you and also shoutout Nevermoor fans everywhere 🫶 may have a surprise in the next few days to celebrate this anniversary
#July 12-14 2018 is when I read it for the first time! <3#this day has snuck up on me I had something planned so hopefully I will indeed get that out soon#I have to lock in and finish the q&a transcript bc I told myself I wasn't allowed to do anything nevermoor until I uploaded stuff for+#+artfight which took unnecessarily long. partially bc I was going to upload 3more refs then decided against it lol#this is also why I haven't gotten through my inbox. I promise those of you that sent stuff that you're not being ignored!

It is the tenth anniversary of getting unfamilied in the next few weeks, which means that I am once again doing Postcards for Queer Futurity. Friends, if you would like a postcard from Japan, most likely featuring a hand-drawn meme or doodle, please feel free to ping me with your address.
#I don't remember the exact date of the fleeing and I'm not going to look it up for my own sanity#I know it's somewhere in the July 10-14 range#I found out that I can get a 20 pack of Frieren postcards from Animate so wwww there is a nonzero chance I will grab that#Queenie actually says something on this blog

i think (one of) the reason(s) i've been so lethargic abt art this month is i've reached a crux where my eye is trained better than my drawing skills so i don't like how my art looks anymore
logically i know the stepping stone from here is to do studies and a bunch of boring repetitious stuff to improve my basics but i don't wannaaaaaaaa (mostly bc it's summer n the semester burnout is real) so i am currently in limbo
#i realized this the other day which was groundbreaking for my self-esteem#but also artfight starts next week n jus bc i know the reason doesn't mean i wanna do anything abt it#but i will think abt it#i wanna be the type of artist that thinks of a cool idea n is able to do rough sketches#for it that same day w/o persisting on details and keeping it rough af#and i also know i can literally learn this so easily if i jus commit and practice each day#but i think my impatience wipes the floor w my persistence every time sadly#the flaw w making fics now is that i get it stuck n my head that i wanna draw for it#and then i don't and then that compounds to never writing for it oof#anyway this month rly has been such a haze n i need to think#abt what i want out of artfight before i pull a Last Summer and#literally only complete one piece but start fifteen (14 whole wips last time...yikes)#i also think it's hard to do AF bc i think abt doing refs all june then don't bc Burnout#and then i still think i'll get them done during july and also do attacks every other day too haha!!!#but i do think being real w myself and setting an achievable goal will help this time around#what was this post even abt lmao time to stop rambling

I noticed some more stuff in episode 6 that made me sad so I'm gonna make you all sad
Sarah's birthday was July 20th.
Maria's son was only 3 years old???? That's heartbreaking.
Giraffe.
#i have like a pavlovian response to giraffes now#the last of us#tlou hbo#tlou spoilers#ellie williams#joel miller#sarah miller#in the game ellie's birthday is sometime in summer#she's 14 in like late summer#july or august#but in american dreams she was only 13#and you can figure out the time between american dreams and left behind#because american dreams is like 30 days before riley's birthday and left behind she's been gone for 46 or something like that#so it's like 2 months#in which ellie turns fourteen#add three weeks and her birthday is probably in june or july depending on when you think tlou starts#so that's sad

at today’s staff meeting my supervisor was talking to one of my colleagues about her studying japanese and he said “well victoria and [other colleague] are probably going to take the jlpt so you could form a study group and study together” and both me and my other colleague were like wait what
#well now i feel like i have to take it lol#i did some jlpt level 5 practice qs and got 12/14 (one of them i was 50/50 on two answers but if i'd thought about it more would've got it)#so then... do i take level 5 bc i think i can pass or level 4 bc i don't think i can pass and will actually push myself?#the test is in july sooo#but the last time i tried these practice qs i bailed out less than halfway through bc they were too difficult#so yay real progress!#update: tried the n4 and there was too much i didn't know so i stopped#i don't want to just translate the questions/answers and then next time i try just remember the correct answers#if that makes sense?#i want to try again when i'm a higher level and have a better chance of actually understanding

The fact that they randomly linked a video about Harry and Louis and whether they're still friends on an article that doesn't even mention them and is about Freddie tells you that that child exists for their closet.
#the more i find the more disturbed and angry i become#i have felt betrayed by this since july 14 2015#it doesn't even matter whether it's his kid or not bc it was proven a surrogacy!#like with hard evidence!#therefore this child was created for the purpose of closeting louis and therefore closeting larry#can you imagine the guilt this child will feel when he finds out about larry?#he shouldn't feel guilt bc it's not his fault but naturally he will#did they not think about the longterm?#this kid is going to grow up and become an adult#and one day he will be like 60#this is a human being that they created all to closet these two who had only been in a relationship for five years at that time#technically less if we go by the months#is this industry's greed this bad?#like the amount of gay men in the industry who were closeted and had children for their closet is just sad#i thought they had done away with that by 2015 but ig not#babygate#larry stylinson#freddie reign clark#freddie reign#freddie clark#freddie tomlinson#dark larrie#1d#no stunts#no stunts larries#ns larries#briana jungwirth#closeting#one direction#larry proof

i see pictures of big cities abroad sometimes and feel almost anxious seeing the streets packed full of people in every direction. i do not want to go there.
This may be an urban legend and I will preface this by saying that I don't even remember where I heard it, but going to bigger cities in Finland always reminds me of it nonetheless, so I'm telling you now.
There was a student group from either China or Korea - I can't recall which one, but Asian nonetheless - who were in student exchange to Finland, in Helsinki. The finnish hosts did their best to make them feel welcome, touring them around the city on the first day out and about, but they noticed the asian students seeming uneased by something. Not in a way of just being timid about being in a foreign country, but glancing at each other like something was off, and looking at each other with this air of "you're seeing it too, right?" but none of them wanted to be the first to bring it up to their finnish hosts. Both cultures are the high-context type, so they had clearly concluded that since the finns didn't point out the obvious unpromptedly, the subject might be too sensitive to talk about.
Eventually one of the exchange students decided to brave against this potential taboo, and delicately asked: "has something... Happened here?" And there was mutual surprise when the finns had no clue what they were talking about. This was pre-covid, nothing bad had happened there. And one of the exchange students - who still weren't sure whether they're breaching a taboo of something One Does Not Talk About - bravely elaborated. The streets are empty. It's eerie. They're in the central of the capital city and the streets are almost deserted. Has there been some calamity? A plague, an earthquake, have the people fled or been evacuated somewhere? Is it safe to even be here?
And they were just as baffled when the finnish hosts confirmed that no, this is a normal amount of people to see on the street on a normal day. Finland just looks like this. And for the sake of clarity, this is what Helsinki city centre looks like on a normal saturday morning at 10 am:
Both pictures taken by me, this morning.
#although a march sunday on 10 am is not typically when the people are out#y'know#try a july sunday on 14 pm for better results#also one time an elderly lady stopped to talk to me when we passed each other on the street#i didn't know her#she told me she'd been living in america for a long time and it was so strange to not see people everywhere!#and i thought to myself that it's very clear she's been abroad for a long time#since she randomly stopped to talk to me in the middle of the street just to pass this thought#like it's not completely out of the picture bc elderly are Allowed to talk to random people#they have special privileges like that#but we weren't even sharing a bus stop or going in the same direction#we were passing each other and she literally stopped to chat with me!#i hope she's doing alright#i hope she's gotten used to the mostly empty streets

"Knowledge is Israel's worst enemy. Awareness is Israel's most hated and feared foe. That's why Israel bombs a university: it wants to kill openness and determination to refuse living under injustice and racism."

From River To The Sea Palestine Will Be Free 🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
-----
Edit 1: took the first video down because turns out the animator is a terf and it links to her blog. Really sorry for any distress.
Edit 2: All recommended readings + Haymarket recommendations + essential decolonization texts have been uploaded to my linked gdrive. I will adding more periodically. Please do buy or check them out from the library if possible, but this post was made for and by poor and gatekept Global South bitches like me.
Some have complained about the memes being disrespectful. You're actually legally obligated to make fun of Israeli propaganda and Zionists. I don't make the rules.
Edit 3: "The river to the sea" does not mean the expulsion of Jews from Palestine. Believing that is genocide apologia.
Edit 4: Gazans have specifically asked us to put every effort into pushing for a ceasefire instead of donations. "Raising humanitarian aid" is a grift Western governments are pushing right now to deflect from the fact that they're sending billions to Israel to keep carpet bombing Gazans. As long as the blockades are still in place there will never be enough aid for two million people. (UPDATE: PLEASE DONATE to the Gazan's GoFundMe fundraisers to help them buy food and get out of Rafah into Egypt. E-SIMs, food and medical supplies are also essential. Please donate to the orgs linked in the How You Can Help. Go on the strikes. DO NOT STOP PROTESTING.)
Edit 5: Google drive link for academic books folder has been fixed. Also have added a ton of resources to all the other folders so please check them out.
Edit 6: Added interactive maps, Jadaliya channel, and masterlists of donation links and protest support and of factsheets.
The twitter accounts I reposted as it was given to me and I just now realized it had too many Israeli voices and almost none of the Palestinians I'm following, so it's being edited. (Update: done!) also removed sources like Jewish Voices of Peace and Breaking the Silence that do good work but have come under fair criticism from Palestinians.
Edit 7: Complete reformatting
Edit 8: Complete revamping of the social media section. It now reflects my own following list.
Edit 9: removed some more problematic people from the allies list. Remember that the 2SS is a grift that's used to normalize violence and occupation, kids. Supporting the one-state solution is lowest possible bar for allyship. It's "Free Palestine" not "Free half of Palestine and hope Israel doesn't go right back to killing them".
Edit 10: added The Palestine Directory + Al Jazeera documentary + Addameer. This "100 links per post" thing sucks.
Edit 11: more documentaries and films
Edit 12: reformatted reading list
Edit 13: had to remove @palipunk's masterlist to add another podcast. It's their pinned post and has more resources Palestinian culture and crafts if you want to check it out
Edit 14 6th May '24: I've stopped updating this masterlist so some things, like journalists still left in Gaza and how to support the student protests are missing. I've had to take a step back and am no longer able to track these things down on my own, and I've hit the '100 links per post' limit, but if you can leave suggestions for updates along with links in either the replies or my asks I will try and add them.
Edit 15 10th August: added to Palestinian allies list and reworked the Help for Palestine section. There's been a racist harrassment campaign against the Palestinian Tumblrs that vetted the Gaza fundraisers based off one mistake made by a Gazan who doesn't understand English. If you're an ally, shut that shit down. Even if you donate to a scam GFM, you're only out some coffee money; if everyone stops donating to all the GFMs in fear of scams, those families die.
Edit 16: removed entire section of allied accounts since the liberation of Syria because apparently leftists in the West are unable to both be against the Israel's genocide of Palestinians and Assad's genocide of Syrians. I should have treated the use of "Axis of Resistance" as the Tankie dog whistle it was.
Edit 17: Removed the Uncommitted Movement to pressure the Harris Presidential Campaign for obvious reasons.
Edit 18: Operation Olive Branch has come under fire for their lack of transparency, unethical behaviour and reporting their own volunteers to the FBI. Always be wary of white people spearheading anything to do with liberatory movements, from conversations to organizations.
