sharing your saved copy of my fics with anyone else who might want them in the unlikely but never impossible case that my fics are no longer available on ao3

making a book of my fic(s) and running your fingers across the pages while lovingly whispering my precioussss

doing these things with anything I create for fandom, such as meta, headcanons, au nonsense like 'texts from the brodinsons,' etc

I am not fine with "the audience"

doing any of the above with the purpose/intent of plagiarizing my work or passing it off as their own in any capacity

feeding my work into ai for any reason whatsoever

i know this gets said a lot so i'm just shouting into the same void as everyone else but whatever.

if you like someone's fic and you would like to read more of that person's fic, one of the best things you can do is appear in that person's inbox/dms/Ao3 comments etc and talk to them about it. what did you love about the fic? how did it make you feel? did you think the characters are being absolute idiots?

and if it's something that's being updated, the author will probably just ramble on at you for several hours about their fic! about where it's going and their understanding of the characters and their arcs and their headcanons for the plot. and they'll probably ask you what you think too!! and then you get to tell them those things!! basically what i'm saying is don't be shy.

if you do this enough, you become friends with the author and they'll terrorise you daily, so you know, be warned.

the best kind of experience is reading a fanfiction from a fandom you are actually in but with couples you do not ship.

Which sometimes turns out to be the best media you have ever laid eyes upon, even though you do not ship the main couples and never start shipping them even with the fanfiction existing

the real shame with how users have stopped reblogging- in favor of holding everything in their likes instead- is that it means archival on tumblr is going to take a massive hit.

we constantly see popular posts from 8+ years ago recirculating because someone reblogged it back when it was new. so users in the current age were able to find it even after everyone involved in the post's creation has deactivated. or- lately, OPs have been getting... frustrated? at their popular posts, and will change the original post to a meme, turn off reblogs after a threshold, or just delete it. so everyone who liked the original post and not a reblog will have lost that post. users in fandom also tend to leave their fandoms and, depending on what they were into, purge their entire account of that work.

if more and more people don't start reblogging again, archival efforts on tumblr are going to get worse in the following years. i've already been watching them get worse.

please reblog posts. do not use your account as a place to store likes.
