One thing I loved about the family dinner was the open discussion about TK’s addiction. There wasn’t any hiding, any attempt to sanitise it. There were kids present - cousins, nieces, nephews - and they know about TK, know this about him.

And I just love that they have never, not once, treated TK’s addiction as some kind of failing or flaw. No judgement, no comeback, no attempt to “protect” younger ears by skirting around it. This is their Cousin TK, their Tío TK, and he doesn’t drink because he’s sober. We love and support him in this and they can understand that, same way they can all understand and accept that Tío Carlos loves Tío TK

For all the sayings that tarlos is a poor substitute for a certain ship or got together too soon or don’t have any development or years of slow burn and realization. You know what? it is actually one of the reason I love that tarlos started the way that they were. I love that it tells a story of how two people meet and get attracted to each other, and start seeing how that grew into either a relationship or not. Because yes ! (Suprise) that is how most romantic relationships started in real life! I love how banal it is! And them not having 6 years of build-up or how they both were still dealing with their own issues and insecurities and working thru it while also working on being with each other does not make it any less valid of queer story. I hope someday we won't dismiss queer relationships and stories because of how fast they got together or how much of a family member they consist of (ehm tarlos not having kid @ fox)

I love seeing them not only have feelings for each other but the way the show portray their love as an act, that them being with each other is a conscious choice and effort they both make. I hope someday we won’t be dismissing any queer story whether they got together after six years of pinning or got together immediately. They are soulmate.

*and having queer characters portrayed by queer actors will always be a big freaking bonus.

And that was TK’s biggest fear. Not that he could have this death sentence, not that he might only have a handful of years with his soulmate. It’s that he wouldn’t get to be there for Carlos (in any meaningful way). That he wouldn’t be able to love and support his husband, he wouldn’t be able to understand his pain, his fear, his loss. He wouldn’t be able to do anything even though he would be the person doing it to him.

Carlos, who felt so alone he married Iris. Carlos, who felt so alone and didn’t have a relationship with his parents.

TK never wants Carlos to be alone ever again. And if that meant they didn’t get married so that Carlos didn’t feel alone then, weird as that situation is, it’s what he would have done. He would cut away his heart, his soul, his love, to make sure that Carlos never feels alone again.

And I’m expected to go about my life like that’s not a thing?

My theory (or hope 🤞🤞) for season 7 is still the couch theory.

Sooo I feel like they knew the show was probably going to end. Since Oliver shared something like they didn’t know until few minutes before the rest of us ABC picked them up (THANK YOUUU! It be so sad if it ended!) … So with that I’m thinking they made the ending where Buck tells Natalia let’s go get a new couch. Or something right? Like they knew if it ended at least Buck will get a new couch. Sooo I’m hoping now that they know (once strike is over.) they will be back now. Sooooo I hope for season 7 Buck and Eddie are moving in together, which leads to the famous blue couch into their new place. Then they sit down and kiss on it after it’s moved in. Christopher walks in and does the tween groan at his parents kissing making both guys laugh and pull apart. Christopher sits in the middle with both his dad and Buck his bonus dad on the couch. Then it fades out to show how Buck and Eddie got together. Like how they do the rewind 12 hours earlier or something. But this could be couple months ago or even weeks or days haha. Don’t get me wrong I love Buck’s loft but yeah for Buckley Diaz Family next step is moving in together, being boyfriends, having Tarlos over in their new place, and other friends laughing around the couch. Can even do a montage just Buckley Diaz Family on the couch in their new place. Playing video games again, eating dinner Buck made as a movie plays, tickle fights, sharing kisses, drinking beer as Christopher watches a tv show, … etc !

Sooooo please Ryan Murphy, Oliver Stark, Ryan Guzman, ABC… and anyone else involved with BUDDIE make them

was rewatching some of s4 while ao3 was finicky last night and I’m still thinking about the nuance that got added to Carlos’ character and how the few hints dropped in earlier seasons—not telling his parents about TK or ever talking to them about anything regarding his sexuality or how he didn’t tell them about the break up or how he bought the loft without telling TK—fit so in line with this fundamentally rooted trauma response that was emphasized in s4 and how he has trouble telling people in his life big things that may make him seem less than perfect because he spent years and years and YEARS trying to fit into a box and repressing pieces of himself and now he’s safe and loved in so many ways but it’s ingrained in his mind to hide and to keep that to himself because that’s how he thought he had to live to be accepted and it’s not a great trait to have, it’s messy and can be hurtful but given what we’ve learned about his past, it feels so necessary almost? that he didn’t come out unscathed from all of that. that it lingers with him though his life is so different now because that’s what trauma does and it takes time and effort to heal

and he’s flawed now more that he ever was. but so is TK. so is everyone on this show. so are real people. and Carlos went from this character whose sole purpose was to be TK’s hot love interest and Michelle’s helper and now he’s this big beautiful character with his own issues who gets so much love and support from the people in his life just as he has given in return for three years and I never would’ve expected this watching s1 live but wow what a journey it has been to see this character unfold
