OMG, you did! :D And I am so happy to answer about Cold.

First impression

Pretty sure my first impression was of him in the Spectre route, and I was curious, a bit positively inclined, mostly on the strengths of how well he fit how we got him and also how hot his voice was. 😔 Yeah, I'll admit it. I looked forward to seeing more from him and was intrigued by the seeming discrepancy between his "emotionless" claims and his blatant grudge against the Narrator.

Impression now

I LOVE COLD SO MUCH. Ohhh, he is as much of a trauma response as the rest of them and is both driven to keep himself safe and also experience something new (which is itself not safe) and also not care about safety... He is dismissive and deeply caring and he can't stand stagnancy and yet he feels at home when everything unravels into the Long Quiet. One of my Top 3 faves I think.

Favorite moment

There are a lot of moments I could choose here but I think I still have to give it to my bias: Cold in the Wraith chapter alongside Paranoid. Especially this sequence:

This has lived rent-free in my head since I first saw it, it just hits me so hard in a "none of them are fully wrong but none are fully right either" way and says so much about Cold in the context of other things... Especially the absolutely wild "If you can tolerate joy, you can tolerate pain" line, like UM EXCUSE ME?

(But the whole chapter is great, with Cheated as well as with Paranoid, but I have a bias for so many moments with the Paranoid version, like the "you think you are brave" line from Wraith and the fact that Cold must have helped with the efforts to toss the body into the void... Wraith is a severely underrated chapter, I feel!)

Idea for a story

Look, because of the way I fandom, all my ideas are for shipfic and ParaCold is 1000% my OTP, soooo...

That said, a specific idea I've actually had that I still kinda want to use with something, that I may have mentioned before, is Hunted making a point that they need each other (as a group) and at their best they cover each others' blind spots and shore up each others' weak points.

When Cold pulls something along the lines of his "I'm special" thing, Hunted ends up challenging him to a "play" fight (no actual wounds being left, "wounds" marked with something like chalk or berry juice or something, fake blade, etc.). And by the time Cold calls that he's "killed" Hunted (and so obviously he's right that he doesn't need help/he has no weak spots that actually matter), Hunted can point out that he's managed to land enough "minor" blows that Cold would be bleeding out by now too, because he doesn't guard himself at all.

(I also kinda want to look more into a super queer TTRPG called Moonlight on Roseville Beach because I wanna play around a bit with an AU for it where the six possible player character "origin stories" are filled by Hero, Contrarian, Cold, Paranoid, the Princess, and the Narrator... "[In] Moonlight on Roseville Beach, it's the summer of 1979 and you work in the village by day while protecting yourself, your housemates, and your neighbors from supernatural monstrosities and occult horrors by night," and it's in a queernorm setting where LGBTQIA+ characters are considered the norm, with a "focus on queer people succeeding at keeping themselves and their communities safe (at least for a time).")

Unpopular opinion

TBH I also agree that Cold isn't all that edgy. I think he's quite straightforward most of the time and definitely has some issues -- I think he likes prodding at some of the other characters more than some people realize but also less than some people act like, he really does jump to "we could stab" very quickly as a response, he seems happy to encourage potential violence against himself if he finds it interesting in some way, he has a surprisingly big ego -- but also blatantly cares despite how he often talks, is curious and wants new things, and seems to like connecting with the other voices and even, sometimes, the vessels.

I also think he isn't as hard to get along with as some people think, in the sense of, I think he has like three different "modes" when it comes to interacting with people:

He vibes with how you do things, in which case he goes along quite well, is agreeable and calm, and seems to like you. (Skeptic in the Drowned Grey chapter is a clear example, but so is Cheated in the Wraith I think; IMO Hero and Hunted would go here as well.)

There's enough push-and-pull there that he finds you interesting, in which case he can get a bit intense, prod you some just to see the push back, might sometimes go along just to see what you'll do, and it's a bit harder to tell if he likes you (but honestly he does). (IMO Paranoid would go here, and I do actually think Smitten goes here as well.)

Neither of the above apply, in which case he's just bored of you, and if forced into constant proximity with you, annoyed. (Stubborn in MOC is the most blatant example; IMO Broken would go here as well, ironically outside of if you somehow managed to get Cold alongside him in the Tower route.)

(The first two can be true simultaneously for some people; I feel like Contrarian would be in both. Weirdly, I feel like Opportunist is somehow in both #2 and #3? Stubborn could eventually go into #2, under better circumstances. And the Narrator fits a special category of "fuck you" where He doesn't quite fit #2 but there are some similarities, Cold just doesn't like Him.)

...This got a bit weird and long and out of Unpopular Opinion territory, huh. WELL, TL;DR Cold isn't edgy and actually likes a good number of the other voices.

Favorite relationship

I mean, y'all can guess this one, right? >_>

No, but honestly, as a ship it's definitely ParaCold. But in a totally platonic way, I also really love his dynamic with Hero in the Spectre route, especially if you free Her, and with Skeptic in the Drowned Grey chapter (okay, okay, I can see that one as either platonic or shippy). And his dynamic with the Narrator fascinates me but I can't ever see them getting along.

Favorite headcanon

I love the idea that Cold picks up new things all the time, and whether he sticks with them or not he gets surprisingly good at them first. Skills, hobbies, other languages. I can imagine his handwriting getting better more quickly than a lot of the other voices because of this, and him also managing to bond with the others over doing their hobbies with them.

jayce arcane!

How I feel about this character?

Jayce, my baby, my sweet, sweet child they could never make me hate you. Easily my favourite character in the show. Earnestness is one of my favourite character traits, and I love how emotional Jayce is, how he's such a touchy-feely guy, the golden retriever to Viktor's black cat if you will. Actually, there's something to be said (and this applies to Viktor too) for the fact that Jayce isn't a dick about how smart he is. Thinking about it, that's an aspect of the show that could be so insufferable, if the science bros actually milked it in the way scientist characters often do, especially since, as I said in the Viktor post, I think they're both some flavour of Doomed Scientist. Sure, Jayce had his moment of being shot down by Heimerdinger, but he wasn't resentful, he didn't stew with arrogant rage, he just thought Heimerdinger was wrong and decided to manipulate and manwhore his way to the top instead.

He's a very dynamic character, he's a scientist, a fighter, a politician, and a lover/friend, all of which are important at one point or another, and at the same time he's kind of dorky and simple, with a boyish charm that you can easily underestimate. It's impressive that he can be all of those things without it feeling forced or like he's OOC at times.

Also it would be remiss of me to add that he really does remind me of Leo dan Brock from Joe Abercrombie's Age of Madness trilogy. Jayce is much smarter and infinitely more likeable, but I'm sure the reason I'm so drawn to Jayce is because of their similarities. Earnestness, man! I can't get enough of it!

All the people I ship romantically with this character?

Mel & Viktor. Both equally. Like how I ship Arthur from BBC Merlin with both Gwen & Merlin, don't make me choose. I am also deeply in awe of Mel, she's so gorgeous and perfect, so I totally relate to Jayce in that regard too.

My non-romantic OTP for this character?

I really liked the moments in S1 with Cait and Jayce, I wish there was more of them tbh! Also Jayce & Vi were cool, and in the same way I like the idea of Mel being friends with Viktor, I'd love for Vi & Cait to be friends with Jayce. I'm intrigued by Jayce & Ekko, they're an unlikely duo for sure and I'm hoping we'll get to see more of them next week.

My unpopular opinion about this character?

Not really unpopular, but I've just always liked him since day one. I know he rubbed people up the wrong way with his fascistic bent in S1, but I loved it regardless.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon?

Ngl, at this point I really would love Jayce/Viktor to be canon. Like, I still think it would be OK if that doesn't happen, I'm not getting my hopes up, but it would take the show to the next level IMO, especially with the emotions ramping up this season already. I want a confession of love (not just affection!!), even they don't do more than that in a way that allows people to interpret it as platonic. I'm hoping the majority of the focus will be on Jayce, Mel, and Ekko, and really the biggest stake for Jayce is his relationship with Viktor Those chips needs to be cashed in! (though a reunion with Mel wouldn't go amiss either, I really hope she gets her considerable due in Act 3 D:). I'm a fan of event TV and the thought of a JayVik confession happening next week is like Yuri on Ice episode 10 levels of Internet meltdown (what is itwith characters called Viktor?). But nope. Not getting my hopes up. Nuh uh. 😐

Favorite thing about them

Well, everything about Ludwig is just great: the design, the lines, the ost, the lore, the bossfight after all - he's one of my faves in Bloodborne! But for this question, i would choose insight/bestiality dichotomy in Ludwig. Usually these parameters are opposed, both in lore and in gameplay. They are opposed in Ludwig, too, but he seems to possess both and at the same time. he saw the arcane knowledge (and quite literally took it for himself) BUT ALSO he is a hunter who has become a malformed beast, roaming in a pit with his victims… i think this feaure is pretty unique to him, and this tells about him a lot.

Least favorite thing about them

As i said earlier, i like pretty much everything about Ludwig :'D but i think the thing i don't enjoy as much as the rest is fighting his second phase... it is still great and fun, i just needed to choose one.

Favorite line

Good hunter, have you seen the thread of light? Just a hair, a fleeting thing, yet I clung to it, steeped as I was in the stench of blood and beasts. I never wanted to know, what it really was. Really, I didn't.

Maria! Just two chivalric guys being pals. I think they have a lot in common and understand each other like no other, in terms of hunt and slowly gaining eldritch knowledge. They also do friendly sparrings!

I don't really ship Ludwig with anybody... I kinda get the appeal of Ludwig and Laurence as knight and lord figures but i also don't care if it is romantic or platonic, or just professional relationships, it is equally interesting for me.

As i said, i just don't ship Ludwig with anybody... for most pairings with him i am indifferent. i like when it is beautifully drawn or interestingly described but that's it

Random headcanon

Keeping in mind the lore implications (Sword description + Guidance rune description + Tomb Prospector set/remains of clothes on Ludwig), I headcanon that he used to be among first prospectors. More than that, he formed his workshop mostly of his past buddies who agreed to abandon the tombs, at least for the first time. I also think he really liked doing the research and appreciated this period of his life very much, and became a hunter not because he wanted to change his occupation but because he felt like he MUST do it (his tragic chivalric ideals)

Unpopular opinion

I haven't interacted much with Bloodborne communtity for a while (I have interacted with the same community but mostly regarding Elden Ring because yeah but you got what I mean), but I think my opinions on Ludwig are pretty common? The only thing that comes to mind is that i enjoy fighting first phase more than second but can't say it is very rare

Dear Fia Elden Ring for the character meme?

It's time for more fun with the character meme!

How I feel about this character

Fia, O Fia.

She's Tarnished like us, who-knows-how old and relegated to the back room of the Roundtable (or possibly she chose it herself?) All the symbols around her at the start are for comfort and vanity - the fireplace, the bed she sits on, the mirror. She is far from 'the nice lady who gives me hugs,' even if I did lean on her blessings in some early boss fights.

Fia, the Deathbed Companion, the intro proclaims - but we don't learn right away what that means.

Fia, who can bring life from death. Fia whose intimate connection with death sets her at odds with her former allies/lovers, and with the Golden Order, too. Fia, whose pride does not permit her to stay in that back room, but sends her through Hell to find Godwyn - and she succeeds.

Her complications make her fascinating and challenging. She refuses to abide with someone hunting her charges; she deals death, real death, with precision.

(How she manages to kill a Tarnished before the restoration of Destined Death is left unanswered. Perhaps her faith granted her that.)

I'm already a big fan of the "sacred prostitute" trope, and to have everything else she does added in? Chef kiss. I'm so glad they wrote her this way.

Also Rogier. They certainly went to bed; he's a devoted enough ally for her to summon his soul phantom even after his death. If those two aren't conniving and snickering together while the Tarnished is out, I'm shocked.

My unpopular opinion about this character

She's the only one of the Roundtable crew who gets how important Death is. Despite her ghastly trappings, she's right. The Lands Between are trapped in a horrible half-life, and the only thing that can fix it is the restoration of Death.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon

D the Second shouldn't get to kill her unless I refuse to interfere.

favorite thing about them

I've been planning a reread of Gilded Apotheosis to recalibrate my characterization of Cyrielle. But I remember her being very caring and humorous. She was never particularly clever, but her blunt humor and attitude were endearing. She sassed Margit [affectionately] and sassed Morgott [derogatorily] and I think her characterization made her an OC shipping fodder protagonist people actually connected with!

I also like the design element of her golden scar. Its a physical feature that makes her stand out amongst the dozens of women Tarnished with braided hair (we all have great taste).

least favorite thing about them

I wish I had fleshed out her backstory more. For some reason I believed it was canon that Tarnished are revived with little to no memory of their past lives. I think I was just led astray by popular fanon haha. But regardless, I think Cyrielle is flatter than most other Tarnished OCs because of her lack of compelling backstory.

This one's difficult! To me Cyrielle has plenty of memorable scenes but very few striking lines. Morgott wins out in that regard. But these three jumped to the front of my mind. They are just really tender and loving. The first and third quotes are her addressing Margit before she learns of his double identity. It just. Auughhhh!!! And the second is her confronting Morgott with that truth.

Mohg and Cyrielle! 

I enjoyed the shift in HSPS when Mohg went from barely acknowledging her to being her confidant and friend. She’s one of the few people that doesn’t know a lot about his baggage and just treats him like her brother in law. Thus he was there for her at her lowest moment.

Cyrielle and Aster

Yeah, they're mortal enemies now but thinking back on their relationship makes me almost nostalgic in a bittersweet way. They fought their way through Gelmir together! And Liurnia! They were besties! And now Aster can only regret the relationship he destroyed (and the memory of it too). And Cyrielle wants him to die. Tragic!

Cyrielle x Morgott of course. After four kids and a century of marriage they'd better be!

I remember a couple of people suggesting to me that those two men had crushes on Cyrielle while I was writing GA. And Shanehaight sucks! Haha

Before meeting Aster and beginning her earnest bid for Lordship, Cyrielle was recruited by D to collect Deathroot for Gurranq. This deepened her faith in the Golden Order- which eventually drew her to want to side with Morgott. It also makes her eventual fatal Deathblight wound all the more ironic.

Since Tarnished were largely persecuted and spurned in the Lands Between by the time of her arrival, she spent most of her Tarnished life living nomadically. Finally having a permanent residence allowed her to discover a love of cooking and gardening. But her standards of home cleanliness are really low.

Why I like them/why I don’t

I just. Where do i start.

he's just. he's so. -clenches fist- he's so compelling. i love that he's so good at putting on a facade that even the viewers think he should have been a villain. he does his absolute best to act like one at the beginning, because maybe it's easier that way for him, if the others view him as an antagonist. he can work with antagonism. he's been doing it for years, probably, as a child attempting to gain dominance in a world of adults who looked down on him and dismissed him.

And yet despite this facade. he's so good??? he's so purely straightforward. at his core he is a Hero with a capital H, but he doesn't believe he is. He's just doing What He's Supposed To Do, after all. he considers all of his decisions as sacrifices for a greater good, and he doesn't expect anyone to like him or agree with him. He'll be the Bad Guy making the Hard Decisions if he has to be.

And YET!!! beneath all of that he is just a child. he is just a kid, who wants to fix things. who wants to protect people. who strides straight forward and just has the pretense of being a mastermind when he's really just winging it.

He's so intelligent but he's not and never has been a puppetmaster type character because he acknowledges the fact that plans fall apart. he puts on the act of being a master planner, but he's actually a master adapter. He's so good at being a chameleon of what people want to see him as until it's time to get to work and show that he was just holding back the whole time.

i JUST. i could talk about him for hours. He's so good. He's so complicated and yet so straightforward. he needs a hug. he needs a decent adult in his life so he can take a nap.

What I like about their appearance

he's genuinely so handsome??? my Character Type i'm weak for is someone with white/silver hair and either violet or red eyes and he checks ALL the boxes.

SUB SUB SUB SUB SUB SUB SUB my GOD every time i see the name declan for him i wanna shrivel up. i understand WHY they did it, to match his D/D/Ds, but 1) it completely ruins the Rei theming and 2) any time i see the name Declan all i can fucking think about is the wedding shaming post about the lady who was going to go backpacking in the mountains after no one would give her 1000$ a piece to have her destination wedding and her kid was named declan

i kid you not i have considered downloading a word replacement extension specifically to replace all mentions of his dub name with his real name.

I'm so soft for them all the time. i love that yuya was the first person to distract Reiji from his plans, and he was like "well obviously it's because i need his power to take down my dad" but then he started having image battles with yuya involuntarily and i was just like oh you're kind of like. he's doing things to you isn't he.

I love how their relationship develops from pure antagonism to Yuya starting to realize just how much of Reiji is a facade and then choosing to trust him unconditionally despite what others say about him, even though before he hated Reiji so much he wanted to punch him! And they become a total battle couple by the end??? they may not be traditional rivals in a yugioh sense, but they truly do push and inspire each other to push beyond their limits and see beyond their originally more narrow viewpoints, and it's so beautiful.

I really just don't like anything where reiji is in a relationship with a woman. i'm sorry he's just gay to me. the only exception is yuzu and that's only when yuya is there too.

As stated above, i do enjoy orchestrashipping now and then. to be honest though, reiji is one of those few characters i ship pretty monogamously.

Also, gotta give a shoutout to how much i think about his contract cards and how his entire deck is built around the concept of broken promises. i promise you i'm normal about this (lying).

but NO in actuality it has to be his duel against Roget. i love that they were built up all season as like one-to-one rivals, in that Roget was totally focused on him and taking him down, considering him a rival chessmaster, only for when the duel happened for Reiji to completely wipe the floor with him and prove that there was never a contest to begin with.

The heartslabyul dorm leader tried his best to avoid the energetic eel but to no avail Floyd always finds him, someone please saves this red head.

One day Floyd was doing his usual thing, stalking Riddle Rosehearts when something may or may not trigger his yandere instincts

While hiding in the bushes Floyd was of course watching the red haired boy talking to the other Heartslabyul students about another upcoming Unbirthday Party since it was 5th of May.

He seems to be noticed that sthe Vice-Dorm leader Trey was a lot closer to Riddle than before.

As the other Heartslabyul students left, the green haired third year leaned against red haired boy's cheek and KISS!

Floyd's eyes widened in anger as he cletch his fist. 'Why him out of all people?! Why Kingyo-chan?! Why did you chose this Umigame-kun?! Why didn't you choose me instead?!' He thought in anger as he saw Riddle smiled at the green haired third year making him filled with anger even more.

He needed to thought of plan to get rid of Trey Clover, Riddle was his! And his alone.

For the next few days Floyd was in a bad mood that was so bad right to point that scares the other NRC students, alongside the fact that Ace and Jamil have to avoid him.

But since he knew of Azul, his dorm leader have done to Jamil, he thought that he might do the same to Riddle.

Meanwhile Riddle was currently in the library helping Yumeri prepare for her remedial test as she scores 41 on her test and heeded someone to help her improve since Sonomi was at the Botanical Garden, Taiyou at MagiShift practice, Mizuko was currently at the Monstro Lounge, Farah's with Jamil, and Hokori was at dance practice and Kaida.... Who knows what she's doing.

"I told you you shouldn't be spending all your time reading manga Yumeri, you should be studying for the test and you didn't." Riddle said scolding the grayish-redhead who look down in shame. "I'm sorry Riddle." She said.

"Yume- wait!" He tried calling out to her but she was gone from the library, he decided to follow her to see what she's doing only to be grabbed by a large hand which covered his mouth, at first he tried to fight back but the hand is too strong that he is passing out.

Willie pressed himself up on his toes and down again, as if that would relieve the pressure of his uncomfortable dress shoes. He wished he could just wear his beat up kicks, but that wouldn't mesh well with the image Caleb wanted to convey with his store.

And since Willie worked there as a way to earn a bit of cash and avoid having to work at the club, he had to deal with the shoes. At least he didn't have to cut his hair and got to choose his shirt and tie.

The other bonus was that he had direct view of the nerd store across the hall in the mall where his jib at the suit store was.

Now Willie did appreciate the odd nerdy thing, but his main focus in that store was just under six foot, had golden blond hair, and an affinity for pink.

Willie had tried every way to talk to Alex in hopes that he would manifest the courage to ask him out.

The first time he had just gone over to introduce himself, welcome them to the mall, and ask if they wanted to hear the gossip about the other stores there. The next time was to ask if he could use their microwave in return for letting them use the private bathroom attached to his work.

But those interactions would only get him so far.

The next time he went over, holding up two ties, and asked Aled which one he should wear. Totally noticing on how his eyes were glued to the line of his throat and top of his chest exposed where he hadn't buttoned up his shirt. Points for him, and he loved how Alex stuttered through choosing the goldenrod coloured tie.

The next time he went over asking Alex for a good started Pokemon since he had just started playing the game. Unfortunately, Alex directed him towards Reggie for that since he was hopeless at video games, and Reggie could talk your ear off about anything. But it did get Willie interested in catching a Bidoof, if only because the name made him giggle.

After that it was a game of finding out exactly what Alex's area of interest and nerdiness lay. So every time they were working the same shift, Willie would come over and ask about something different.

"What class would you recommend for a beginning D&D player?"

"What's the conversion rate of sheep to wood in Catan?"

"What's the best version of Monopoly?"

"Do you guys have any idea how Magic the Gathering works?"

On and on, but every time, Alex would direct him to one of the other guys working though he did always smile and blush whenever he looked at Willie-and usually convinced him to add to his sock collection at least once a week, all while throwing his own employee discount on it for him.

Then one day, Willie moseyed into the store on his break, veering right towards Alex. "So did you get a cavalcade of Funko pops based on the new anime adaptation yet?"

Alex whirled around, glaring at him. "What is your deal?"

"What?"

"Every day, or almost, you come in here, and it's always something inane or weird or I dunno... do you get some sick joy of making fun of the nerds or something?" Alex exploded.

"No!" Willie exclaimed. "I'm a nerd! Or well, kind of one, given the love of cartoons from my childhood and obsessive sock buying."

"Then why do you keep coming over here and asking me about all this other stuff?" alex asked, shoulders still stiff as he looked at Willie.

"Because I like you dummy!" Willie said with a laugh. "I've been looking for any excuse to come talk to you in hopes you might engage in conversation with me and then maybe we could go out sometime."

"Oh... oh!" Alex replied. "I like you too!"

"Then how about we get an Orange Julius and you can tell what nerdy stuff you are into?" Willie asked, offering his arm.

"Through in a soft pretzel and it's a date," Alex replied, looping their arms together.

It turned out that Alex wasn't much of a nerd, but Reggie needed staff, Alex needed money, and he did like dancing games and Trivial Pursuit.

"Sounds like a fun idea for our next date," Willie said with a grin.

"Only if you're in the mood to get your butt whipped," Alex teased back.

"Oh it's like that is it?" Willie stated. "Challenge accepted."

Alex beamed, but then looked at his watch and scowled. "My break is almost up."

"Well then let me bring you back and on the way I can catch you up on the latest happenings with th jewellery store guys."

1) What made you like it back then (enough to write fic)?: I found a fan translation of the novel while I was living in Japan back in 2019 and devoured it. I only read it once so I don’t remember everything clearly, but I did very emphatically think that Wei Wuxian was one of my favorite protagonists. I have the Seven Seas translation of the first volume, but I’m reading Guardian (Zhen Hun) first because that was my intro to danmei (and still my favorite of what I’ve read).

2) Why did you stop liking it enough to write fic?: Thailand distracted me. \:D/ I also didn’t know anyone in the fandom, so I’d just been sort of enjoying from the sidelines. No one to drag me back, y’know?

What was the moment in the story that I started shipping my OTP from this world?

Well, I got into the show via the fanfic-to-reaction-video-to-actual-episodes pipeline, so this question is a little hard to answer. But in terms of the things that first piqued my interest, I would say for Supercorp it was the secret identity thing and the subsequent reveal by Lex, and for Guardiancorp it was the 16 scars reveal in S4.

15. Which character would I choose for the chopping block if I knew the writers wanted to kill someone?

Meh. This is not a show that's suited to killing characters off. They should've put J'onn on a bus seasons before the end but they shouldn't have killed him, and as much as I dislike Mon-El they no doubt would've had him go out in some kind of heroic blaze of glory that would've been so much more obnoxious to me than him just fucking off to the future forever. Maybe Winn? He could've had a little hero moment and died saving James or stopping his father or something IDK.

16. Which character’s death would (or did) make me rage-quit?

I mean, I only got into the show post-S5 when I knew there was only a season left, so, I probably would've just followed the fandom to the end out of morbid curiosity regardless of what happened? But Lena, Kelly, or Nia dying in S6 would've been pretty unforgivable to me.

17. What is the world-building aspect of the story I have the greatest admiration for?

Hm, well, I don't think world-building is necessarily the show's strong suit -- just look at how they can never decide how long aliens have existed on Earth and to what extent humans are aware of them, for example. I guess I will say I think setting the show in a different universe than the other Arrowverse shows was a good choice. I mean, I'm pretty sure they made that choice because they were on a different network, not for story reasons, and they eventually undid it, but I think it helped to make the world feel less crowded and easier to grasp compared to Earth-1. (Confession time: I hate the Arrowverse crossovers & have never made it through a full one. I hate having to do homework and watch another show just to understand what's happening in the show I actually want to watch. That's why I stopped watching The Flash for a few years in the middle of its run and only picked it up again during COVID -- I got so sick of being expected to know all these people. Supergirl still does the annoying crossovers, of course, but they do it less often by virtue of being on another Earth.)

18. What is the perfect number of books/seasons/movies needed to tell this story properly?

I have no idea because they did not have a long-running story in mind. (Which is fine. To be clear. It's a network show, you should never expect a network show to have a multi-year plan.) I think six seasons could've worked fine if they had better ideas & better execution of those ideas.

KAIBAEK

my exo otp and one of my ultimate OTPs. they had a bit of a rocky start and had a hard time getting close pre-debut, but once they did they now have a sincere trust for each other. they're caring and protective of one another: jongin (kai) running to baekhyun when he was injured, comforting each other when they cry (baekhyun following after jongin and holding his hand; jongin gently tugging at his ear), baekhyun leading jongin through the airport when he was sick, jongin drinking bitter juice for him in a batsu game (the reason i started shipping them), and so on. they've had to deal with a lot of similar situations wrt hate from fans (added to the group late, "overly" featured, dating scandals, etc.), as well as challenges with simply being in exo, superm, and sm in general. they admire each other, compliment and complement each other, and aspire to be as accomplished as each other; they support each other's solo careers and are always excited for each other. easily my favorite thing about them is why they're a rare pair in the first place, despite being in two groups together: their interactions, even the more affectionate ones, are rarely played up for fanservice. it's often little, private moments where they lean on each other or are affectionate in some other way. like THIS:

it's just so subtle and intimate? it's for no one but them. most of these kind of moments like the ones i've mentioned and others, can only be found on fancams! also they're really playful!!!!! i love them!!

WIDOWANA

my overwatch otp. friends (or lovers if you're delulu like me) to enemies to attempted killers. after thinking amélie (widowmaker) dead for a year, ana snipes her helmet on the battlefield, revealing who widowmaker actually is. once ana realizes it's her friend, she can't pull the trigger. ana, who never hesitates, hesitates for the first time, and widowmaker shoots her cybernetic eye out. they have an adversarial and competitive relationship now that they're both snipers on opposite ends of the war, trading barbs and pity for the other's situation. as the top two deadliest snipers in the world, they're kind of obsessed with one another and specifically outdoing each other. it provides a lot of tension and potential angst, especially of the "i know you're in there somewhere, come back to me" variety.

ISHINEMU

so rare even i don't talk about them (i tend to ship ishihime more, although even that is third after tatsuhime and ulquihime). SO much wasted potential! both of them have been wronged so acutely by mayuri and i think there are a lot of daddy issues to explore between the two of them. plus, uryuu seems to be literally the only person in the series who sees nemu as a person. shame their relationship, and mayuri medically torturing uryuu's grandfather AND the way he abuses nemu, was played for laughs later on lol good one, kubo :/

SHONEJING

jing is my name for him, he's a fusion of "force" who showed up in only boo! and that one guy in you fight, and i love (i'd use the nickname of what character from the novel he's supposed to be, but i couldn't find it lol). i have a fic in mind i wanna write for them and it would have been another entry into the hurt/comfort bingo, but it accidentally ended up too long. the headcanon is that jing is deeply closeted and shone is addicted to heartbreak.

Him and Jack. While I always felt like the other Guardians had a lot of apologizing to do in terms of Jack's neglect, I never felt that with Sandy. Jack always had a positive opinion of him, and the way him and Sandy just clicked in the movie even without words was so heart warming.

favourite thing about them

I love how she falls in such a morally grey area. Dark grey even if you ask me. She's not a villain (yet) and most of the main characters look up to her in some way, don't dare to question the status quo she set up ages ago, but the more we find out about her, the more sketchy everything about her becomes. She uses human lives and bodies to prolong her life and keep it in a state she's comfortable in. In contrast to Kenjaku or Sukuna, she doesn't have to worry about a natural death, so this really isn't necessary for her and yet she uses these people to avoid change. You could say she would threaten civilization or the Japanese population otherwise if she doesn't merge, but we have seen that she can hold on for quite some time with barrier techniques. And if she's such a threat, then wouldn't it be more ethical to take yourself completely out of the equation? Lock yourself up or kill yourself instead of sacrificing others to keep you as you are? That doesn't even touch on all the sorcerers that die almost daily due to the system that she set up and upholds. Add onto that her protecting Kenjaku by keeping their existence secret and likely even ensuring their survival after each six eyes battle. And now we have the new layer of her connection with Sukuna, where she clearly has some sort of fascination with his body and has meddled with it before, not unlike Kenjaku. Love how she's not just some old conservative, but there are layers to her and what she's doing or her inaction.

least favourite thing about them

Need more of her backstory and interactions with Kenjaku and Sukuna. Also, she's just so wonderfully frustrating in her stubbornness. If she has a position, she'll really dig her roots in like the tree that she is and won't budge (although other times she's so whimsical in that "come what may" attitude she shows before Kenjaku breaks her barrier and where she decides that she might as well go along with Kenjaku's plan and evolve because it's inevitable...could've realized that 1000 years ago). Could've avoided so many deaths if it wasn't for that. Not really a "least favourite" because I love her for that, just something that makes me want to shake her a bit.

Yuki. Love their forced cohabitation where both clearly want to be as far away from each other as possible, but also can't resist talking. Would've liked to see what their everyday life looked like when they weren't discussing plans to stop Kenjaku.

TenKen. I absolutely love their relationship. How they contrast each other, how they push each other to further extremes both intentionally and unintentionally and there's just so much to speculate about their past and what they might've been like before they broke off. There are so many little hints at what their relationship used to be like and how they really feel about each other, it makes me insane.

Tengen/Sukuna. Just...no. Don't see that at all.

random headcanon

I'm not sure if she was born outside Japan, but I imagine during the 200 years before she came into the public eye and created her cults, she was travelling around China, Korea and India to learn more about jujutsu and especially barrier techniques and that's how she gained such proficiency in it.

unpopular opinion

evolved Tengen > human appearance. I just think that even her "thumb" form is so much more interesting than what she looks like fresh after a merger. I really would like to see her gradual ageing process and how she turns from just an old lady into a more cursed form. Also I'd liked to see her in her old form in general aka before she started the first merger or just before she was planning to merge with Riko or any other Star Plasma Vessel.

Deebu - River of Memories I often listen to this and other Deebu songs while writing TenKen fics. It has a nice mix of chill, dreamy, but also rooted in the past that fits very well with Tengen I think.

Agnes Obel - Broken Sleep There are a bunch of Obel songs that fit Tengen in my opinion, but this one is the most on-point with the lyrics and music. Fits her isolation and her wasting away in her tree.

I like the way her real body looks now too. Kind of a mix of the more masculine image she projects and how she used to look in that one sketch we saw. So she's thinner, her eyelashes longer, but the rest is the same. Although her biceps still looks relatively muscular all things considered, so I think she must've put on more muscle since we saw her in that volume sketch (around Edo era I'm assuming based on the clothes and this probably being shortly after a merger). There she seemed almost fragile, but not so much here, despite being more withered.

And of course cursed womb!Tengen. She looks so cute. Like a little gummy bear.
