Hakim School Leagues

About the leagues: Leagues are open for all Second Years and Third Years. Teams must be composed of exactly eight people. About a quarter of eligible students get involved in leagues. A fraction of those actually play with the intent of winning. The top four leagues get recognition. A board posted in the main square of the school shows who the top twelve teams are at all times. The goal is to be in the top four, or, ideally, be at the top. Leagues gain points by participating in challenges and events that are created by faculty members. Occasionally alumni will come to help with events. Challenges and events can include a wide variety of things, from official competitions of Potentate skills to doing art projects to having the best project in a teachers class. Leagues are often formed around preexisting clique lines. For instance, the Beaters formed two leagues, Beatnik Sputnik and The Villanelles, and the Clans stay in one league, Clan Blood. Clan Blood has been a team each and every year since the leagues were created. Clan Blood is generally composed of students from the Clans. One notable exception is Zeno Bachta. The Bachtas are technically part of the Tribes (the same affiliation as Ib and Griya). However, Zeno Bachta has clan lineage and her mother works closely with Zazash Yakin.
