The time has come for Season 2 nominations...

Nominations will be open for one week total, ending Tuesday, September 3rd. The rules are as follows:

You can submit as many characters as you wish, but only submit each character once

No real people (including any Youtubers or VTubers) will be permitted

Only 1 participant from each separate media will be allowed

In lieu of his Season 1 victory, Mob Kageyama is banned. All other Season 1 participants are welcome to return

There will be 64 total participants

An underrated detail I really like about super's manga in describing Vegeta's growth without saying anything is that he stands much closer to everyone. Not just the Z-fighters, but anyone he considers an ally. Throughout Z he's kind of famous for standing on the outside of the group and facing away from everyone, usually with his chin down and his arms crossed (very cold, very standoffish, very guarded, 10/10). In super even when his arms are crossed, his body language is more open. He tends to be Part of the group, he generally faces everyone else, he contributes to casual conversation, and he's much more comfortable overall -- not just with the people that he knows well by now, but with everyone.

I like to read it as Vegeta trusting himself again, after his extremely high fall off his pedestal, and having rebuilt his confidence. Not the performative confidence that he has to prove to anyone else, but the genuine confidence he had way back in the Saiyan saga, when he had very little reason to be anything but. Except now he can also afford to be gentle, because instead of his company consisting of those who would pick his bones if he failed, he has had several very intense moments of proof that failing is not a death sentence here. There is always someone coming to help -- whether it's a fighter on the front lines stepping in to buy him a few more minutes, or a support player with a backup plan -- there's someone coming to help.

He's been repeatedly exposed to compassion as something other than a strategy. He's learned how to feel valuable as both a fighter and a support, himself, and it's made him more confident and comfortable in every other aspect of his life.

Guess That Ship Tournament Season 12: Submissions OPEN!

The Concept: You describe your ship* to me, I pick out the submissions which I find most compelling and pit them against each other without revealing who they are, people vote on them, and their identities gets revealed once they’re eliminated.

Submission Guidelines

*For the purpose of this tournament, relationships do not have to be romantic in nature. (I’m sometimes going to use “ship” as a shorthand, just know I mean “relationships” in general.)

Relationship can be between any number of characters.

Real people are accepted if they’ve been dead for more than 100 years.

Roleplay characters are accepted as long as the description only pertains to the characters and not the players.

Crossover ships are only allowed if the crossover is official.

OCs are accepted. (However, OC x Canon is not accepted. Please do not submit other people's OCs without their permission.)

No overtly NSFW submissions. (Mentioning they have sex or are a sex worker is fine, but try to avoid anything more than that.)

Two submission per person. (Do not submit the same ship twice. I cannot enforce this on Google Forms without forcing you to log in. So just be champs and respect this rule.)

Failure to follow these guidelines may result in all of your submissions being disqualified for this season.

Summary Guidelines

Selection Process: I will read through the list of descriptions submitted without reading their names and pick the most compelling submissions. Then, I will check the name to make sure there's no repeats.

Keep it concise, but also bring something unique to the table. Make sure to describe their relationship, not just summarize the events of the story.

Previous submissions for reference. The ideal submission should be 2-3 paragraphs, but you can make it as short or long as you want. Please keep in mind the longer your submission, the less likely it is to get in.

Tips on what to avoid while writing a summary can be found here.

Descriptions should be based on canon, not headcanon. (e.g. You can say “they love each other” instead of “they’re lovers” if their romantic nature is debatable.)

Avoid author commentary. (e.g. "They're canonically x," "I love them," "Play/watch/read this," etc.)

Use canonical pronouns.

Avoid identifying information or setting specific giveaways. (i.e. Ninja village, space necromancers.)

When submitting OCs, please make sure to at least put a name somewhere. (e.g. "John and Bob by anonymous" or "OCs by Joey.")

The more popular your ship is the more vague the description should be.

Exclusions

Ships that were accepted in Season 7 onwards and ships that at least reached the semifinals in Season 1-6 are not allowed. For a complete list, please look here. (No need to look through the whole list, just Ctrl+F to find the ship you want.)

Any submissions from Harry Potter will also not be included.

Notes

I will not vet the ships/pairings for problematic content.

If you participate in this tournament, know that you run the risk of unintentionally voting for your nOTP. The mod does not take any responsibility for any distress that may cause you.

There will be a limit of one ship per media in the bracket. You may submit two ships from the same media, but keep in mind only one ship will be able to get in. (A series or franchise will generally count as one media, but they will be evaluated on a case by case basis.)

They're elves of the shadowfell, normal human height. They specialize in teleportation and invisibility, with the casters among them throwing in confusion and fear and illusion. Be careful though, as any trained in combat start making non-elves slower and worse while within 10 feet. From depression, from the sound of it. Their angst about being more ancient and timeless than you wordlessly attaches to you like a parasite, slowing you down. Good for if you enjoy concepts like-

Shadows, but like DARKER than shadow, that lash out when they're moody

looking beautiful unless in shadow, in which case they're corpselike

ignoring pointless things like "comfort" and "morals" and "rules"

being the chosen of the Raven Queen, and on her behalf collecting dark tragedy, sorrow, and feelings of loss.

being corpse pale with jet black hair, pure black eyes, and covered with tattoos/piercings/anything that would make a generic white suburban mom in the 50's scream in terror.

Lumping them all together because they're all the same outside one having mage hand and such. Idc what weapon they're holding.

These resulted from an RP gone horribly wrong with my OC Techie and @giantchasm's character Peony (vote for her btw) over at the OC tournament Discord. It's lots of fun :D

Techie has the ability to dream walk (inherited from dear ol dad) but unfortunately some bad vibes turned into an all out nightmare with Peony's mom Susie getting offed by Morpho Knight. No one was happy. (And then things got worse! :3 )

Fondue: Hey kid, hows the tournament been treating ya'? I'm Fondue, an' I figured I might as well get ta know some of the other, uh, contestants. I also brought some scones if you're hungry . .

🌟 - "Oh-uh... It's been alright!- I mean... I haven't been up to much, since, well, I've been out since round one."

"But... You said it was Fondue, right?- I'm Jade. It's nice to meet you."

She finally took a look at the scones he had offered after a polite greeting.

"Oh-wow. Those look delicious!- Uh, thank you!-" She shyly took one and placed it in a small box filled with chocolates and other goodies. "I'm not hungry right now, but I appreciate it!- I'll tell you how it is when I try it!-"

She sighed quietly. "I'm sorry I don't have anything to offer in return. This whole tourney feels like a potluck, haha-I wish i was a better baker so I could offer up some goodies. But all I can offer right now is a warm smile and a friendly face."

Mod has done four tournaments on this blog so far (All of them being the Best Kirby Character Tournament), with the Best Kirby Copy Ability Tournament being the fifth one they decided to start up!

Mod wrote and posted a fanfic on this blog once (it's over a year old but mod has fleshed out an entire AU for it now and they post about it every once in a while on their main blog) :3

Gekkou also won against Realize by a significant amount

Beat Eater won against Mirai

blender won in a landslide against Forward

With some push and pull, CR詠ZY beat ULTRA C, definitely the second closest match.

Hitsuji Ga Ipikki won against Flyer! in a landslide

RAD DOGS also beat Ready Steady by a lot

Awake Now vs Rekka was definitely the closest. With the greatest amount of votes in total, and by the smallest margin, Awake Now took the victory. We will always remember you, Rekka.
