So someone on reddit sloved tnmn nightmare mode letter the Clown dude but trying to be mysterious gives the player

So you are going to hear me yap about the doppelgangers

So I was right about the doppelgangers being created in my guesses of what anti D.D.D note means.

So the doppelgangers was created by in universe unnamed military company of the government (again also unnamed of where this government is)

The doppelgangers are apart of a project called the "The Trojan Horse project" (Named after The Greek mythology)

They were created around 1945 (Meaning they been around 10 years in the events of Tnmn)

They were two main people behind this a new character called "Oswald d keppler" and an old character "DR.W.AFTON"

My theory is doppelgangers were created to be spies for a fictional war then a real life war that happened in the past

But at some point the doppelgangers got loose.

Either the doppelgangers think people in the apartments are soilders/nurses for the rival of this unknown fictional war aka being the "goal" or they know they are man made creatures causing them to have a hatred for humanity and want to end humanity for that reason or they were exposed to the violence nature of war and they started to mimic it or if they are human experiments they might want revenge on the people who wronged them.

We still don't know if the doppelgangers were human experiments or actual man made creations.

But that just a theory

Chat, help, I'm in love with this silly comic maker so I made these comic based on some head canons I have:

(The Afton and Alf comic) Afton ran away from home at a young age and got adopted by a better family

(The Henry comic) Henry was put down after finding out about the Trojan Horse project

(The Angus and Roman comic) Angus just...Eats things he's not supposed to and can bring it back up like nothing happened

(The Rudboys comic) Steven is just chill with the astral circle residents and vise versa

I'm honestly surprised by the lack of fics that explore the actual lore of tnmn, especially surrounding Afton. As the only character so far with direct ties to the lore he has so much potential

What are his relationships with Mia, Keppler, and the other neighbors like? Is he a villain? A sympathetic antagonist under Keppler's thumb? Why did he choose this line of work? Did he even have a choice? Does anyone suspect him being involved?

Don't get me wrong I see a good amount of this stuff on tumblr, but fanfiction is severely lacking

There are no other fics I've seen that are tagged with Keppler as a character. Most of the fics for this fandom are ship fics, which I'm not saying to condemn them especially since mine are also ship fics, but to say that you can still explore those things in a ship fic

One of my favorite ship fics was a Franzaack one that hasn't been updated in a while, and it had Izaack actively investigating the origins of doppelgangers and explaining to Francis what he's discovered

Angus and Steven are also popular to ship with our fan favorite milkman, and both could also provide great avenues into the lore since one is commonly headcanoned to have ties to the mafia and the other is in the military

Hell the player character literally works for the DDD so reader inserts and doorman centric fics are already a good starting point

And doppelgangers as characters have so much potential when it comes to exploring their perspectives on humanity and each other and what life is like for them

That's Not My Neighbor Timeline

This timeline will show some tidbits of what would be the story of my ocs before the events of the game itself because I have my brain working late at night and I want to share this with you guys :3. This will contain some spoilers about the formation of the D.D.D. and the beginning of the Trojan Horse Project.

1945

Oswald D. Keppler founded the Department of Doppelganger Detection as the General Director of the said department.

The Trojan Horse Project was funded by the Military Department of the Government with Keppler as the General Director of the project and Dr. W. Afton as the Lead Scientist of the said project. 

Some of the prominent employees of the department are Dr. Stanford Abelforth and Dr. Aditha Gulliver who have contributed their expertise in their specialized fields. Both are dedicated to the experiments being conducted in the lab and were praised by many.

1946

A teenager Ollie was scribbling in his notebook about vehicles, fascinated by the world of motorsports. While engrossed with his hobby, a loud noise can be heard outside of his room. His mother cried from fear as she tried to grab the telephone to contact the police, only for the doppelganger that was in the form of his father to kill her before she could utter a word through the phone. Curious and frightened, Ollie rushes out of his room to get the whole glimpse of the disgruntled form of his father. 

Before the doppelganger can kill Ollie, Lazaro happens to arrive earlier than expected as he quickly grabs Ollie away, causing him to have a scar on his right eye. He then grabs his pistol and shoots the doppelganger 4 times. Despite knowing that it's just the doppelganger of his older brother, he feels guilty for doing it. After the events had happened, Ollie then lived with his nonna and aunt throughout his life before moving in to live with his uncle.

In the same year, Ruslan Gulliver, the husband of Aditha, was hired by the D.D.D. as the first doorman of the apartment building that he would be working on. Throughout his job, he encounters different doppelgangers of the tenants in which he is capable of diminishing the differences between the original and the latter. 

1947

Aditha begins to feel unease with the project as she only tells her concerns about Stanford which he is the only person she could trust. Although she also wants to reveal the purpose and objective of the project to her husband Ruslan while having a dilemma whether to reveal it or not, her life is cut short after finding out that Afton happens to hear her conversation with Stanford. Her death was orchestrated by Afton who sent out a doppelganger that was in the form of her husband to “silence” her before she could even report this to the authorities despite the project being funded by the government as she believes this is considered “immoral” and “dangerous” to humanity.

The real Ruslan finds out about this from Stanford as he goes to save her, only to see her dead by the said doppelganger. Out of pure rage, he grabs a sledgehammer, hitting the doppelganger several times before he is now covered in blood. The next year, he quit his job as a doorman before returning years later as a building janitor to reveal the truth beneath the lies of the department.

1951

Delora is an office clerk who works the 9-to-5 shift at a business company. After her shift, she plans on visiting her parents after a tiring day at work from filing documents to answering phone calls through the telephone. When she arrived at the Steding Residence, she noticed the door was open. Curious, she went inside the house, hearing faint weeping noises from the kitchen. To her surprise, she saw her “aunt” from her mother’s side covered in blood as the cold lifeless body of her parents was lying on the floor.

Her “aunt” told her a fabricated story where a doppelganger got inside the house while she was visiting her parents to bring some apple pie. She also stated that she already called the police and was on the way to the scene. Delora noticed the slight difference between her aunt as she doesn't recall her having amber eyes and her mother has grayish ones as well as a mole on her chin. Not buying the story, she grabs a kitchen knife and stabs the doppelganger that was impersonating her aunt at least 7 times as the police arrived into the scene.

One of the officers tries to arrest her but Lazaro stops them midway from handcuffing Delora. He wants to interrogate her first from the beginning until the end of the story about the death of her parents and her alibi. She was taken to the station and asked several questions, once her alibi was considered valid, Lazaro let her go and ended the case. That day forward, Delora becomes more cautious around her surroundings as she develops mistrust of the people she happens to meet.

1955

The business company Delora worked in suddenly went into bankruptcy, causing her to lose her job as an office clerk. While looking for other job opportunities, a mysterious man who happens to be one of the members of D.D.D. gave her a proposition of working as a doorwoman of the apartment building. He believes that her skills of telling which is the doppelganger could stop the rampant invasion of doppelgangers in the building and would be a vital help towards society. Delora was hesitant at first, but she agreed either way.

In February of the same year started her job as the doorwoman of the building in which she encountered different tenants living in each apartment room of the said resident. There she met Ruslan and Stanford who shared a distrust of the D.D.D. and told her to be mindful of the organization that hired her. Throughout her time as a doorwoman, she begins to feel doubtful of the organization as she wants to find out the truth from the lies that the government fabricated to keep the image of the D.D.D. intact. With her snooping around, Dr. Afton becomes more mindful and observant of her actions as her involvement will cause them gravely.

“No, we’re releasing the prisoners and getting out of the building.” Dumbfounded, the teacher let herself be led the rest of the way to her neighbors’ cells, watching her fiance fumble with the keys, unlocking the door with his right hand.

“Wait.” He paused just before the door opened. “You're not my Afton, are you?” He smiled.

so here's a little story on how dr. w and keppler got to know each other and eventually how they ended working together in my au:

as a student, wil really struggled a lot. despite being exceptionally intelligent and had a genuine passion for science and scientific discoveries, most people would often downplay her and her endeavors (misogyny at its prime at the time)

she would often propose research ideas that were on another level. they were marvelous. she knew that most of her ideas were feasible, but just needed enough faith and support. in the end, these either get turned down, not supported seriously or some ideas were stolen from it and credited to others.

as someone who has the heart for scientific research, the experience was absolutely soul crushing.

but then one day, what seemed like an angel in wil's perspective, came down from above and reached out to her.

that angel was keppler

keppler works for the government and her sector specially is one that sponsors exceptionally bright students that have a passion in science and technology.

keppler told wil that she saw a lot of potential in her and was genuinely amazed by all the ideas wil has come up with in her proposals. with that keppler offered to sponsor wil in her academic endeavors, even up until she got her doctorate degree.

while keppler had other students who she was sponsoring, it was made quite obvious that wilma was the one keppler was most fond of. she almost treated wil like a daughter of some sort.

wil too, grew quite close to keppler. for it was that woman that made wil felt that her capabilities were finally and genuinely recognized. she felt that she would do anything for her.

wil and the other sponsored students would then graduate and later become the future research team of the then-planned trojan horse project. of course, wil was elated to know that she was assigned lead researcher by keppler herself.

what she didn't know was the ulterior motives the woman she grew to admire so much and how it would cause what was coming up next

The voice on the other side sounded like it was on the verge of seven mental breakdowns. Afton knew the voice could only belong to one man.

"Hhhheeeyyyy, buddy! Soooo uhhhhhh....Quick question: How much baking soda is too much baking soda...A-asking for a friend! I definitely didn't just make a bomb in my office which may or may go of any second now-"

In the distance, there was the sudden sound of a explosion going off. The voice groaned.

"Uhhhhh...Nevermind. S-so how's things been since we last met? I-it's Oz, by the way, if you didn't figure it out already."

Phoney approaches Afton's feet and looks straight up at him, their handset vibrating with a loud and sharp ringing

"Hey Aft-y, not hear to bug you or anythin', not today at least. You see, for some reason, I started ringing today and I checked the caller ID and it was for you! Now I know you're not the biggest fan of me and I'm only going to ask this once: Please pick me up before this drives me loony."

Phoney waited for Afton the pick the handset up, one of their eyes twitching the more the phone rang. How they we're able to receive calls when they weren't even plugged into the wall at anytime was a question best unthought.

"Phone??? Wait what??!??-"

My little story for Francis and Nacha

I'm going to reference some things that did happen in the past (and sadly still happens today in some cases) So this might have sensitive content to this, please be careful while reading! Thank you! :)

Cw/tw: Brief mentions of war, death, cheating, teenage pregnancy, Nacha being disowned by her family and doppelgangers being doppelgangers.

Nacha was born into a rich family, her father was famous chef in a fancy restaurant that only rich people could afford and her mother had successful family owned fashion business. While Francis was born into a working class family, His mother was a servant for Nacha's family while his father was a factory worker.

Nacha was mostly raised by maids and servants because her parents were too busy with their duties. While Francis was mostly raised by his uncle and auntie due to how busy his parents were to keep their family afloat.

Nacha's mother entrusted two women to look after Nacha while she was busy, She entrusted the maid to look after Nacha with cooking and making sure she didn't hurt herself. And the servant she entrusted her with cleaning Nacha and cleaning Nacha's bedroom. The maid and servant accepted the job. They knew it won't stop them from being mistreated by Nacha's family but they hoped that the mistress would treat them abit better.

The maid's name was "Galina".Galina knew Nacha was an adventurous girl, she always kept her safe and sound. Making sure she didn't hurt herself, she would cook for her and looked after her. The servant's name was "Henriette", Henriette was Francis's mother.

One day in the spring of 1931, Henriette was cleaning Nacha's bedroom when she saw Nacha looking bored out of her mind.

Henriette asked her what was wrong, Nacha told her that she didn't have any friends because her father wouldn't let her socialise with children her age who was poor or in the working class. 6 year old Nacha told her, her papa sees them as low lifes and the kids she should be friends with are kids from middle and upper class.

Henriette told Nacha, She has a son she could be friends with because he was struggling to make friends at school.

Nacha agreed, the next day Nacha met Francis. Nacha and Francis had secret play dates while her parents were gone, Galina kept a eye on them. Making sure other staff members didn't catch the daughter of famous fashion designer and chef playing with a son of a servant and factory worker. Galina knew Nacha needed a education.

So the next year, Galina convinced Nacha's mother to send her daughter to a public school. Lucky for Nacha, She got into the same school as Francis. Francis and Nacha would hanged out in bakeries, shops and parks with the supervision of Henriette or Galina. Francis and Nacha was getting closer to Francis. They soon started to develop feelings over the years.

In 1942, Francis and Nacha was getting too adventurous with their love while a war was going on and Nacha got knocked up with Anastacha.

Nacha was panicked, she was only 17 and Francis was only 16. They were too young to look after a baby especially when a war started three years ago. Nacha knew she was getting to be shamed by the world for being pregnant and unmarried.

Soon her parents found out, her parents was pissed off at their only born daughter. They shamed her for getting knocked up and forced her to choose.

"Give up the child after it's born to adoption or suffer being a unmarried mother and leave the family."

Nacha decided to leave the family, Her parents disowned and kicked her out, Galina found out and tried to convince them to let their pregnant 17 year old daughter to stay with them. But they refused. Galina quited her job after that to support Nacha.

Francis's mother were more supportive of their son then Nacha's parents. Francis's parents knew Nacha's parents never supported their relationship because Francis was a low life in her family's eyes. Francis was also suffering the fact his father was forced to go to war three years ago at age 38 when Francis was only 13.

Nacha soon lived with Galina, Galina helped Nacha with her pregnancy along. While Henriette helped Francis with his worries of being a teen father.

Soon, Nacha gave birth to Anastacha in the home of Galina. Nacha refused to give birth in a hospital due to fear of nurses taking away Anastacha from her just because Nacha is a unmarried mother.

Francis helped looking Anastacha, along side Galina and his mother, Henriette. 2 years later, Fate had a cruel plan to separate the couple. Francis at age 18 was forced to go to this ongoing war due to low on soilders. Nacha was okay looking after Anastacha because she had Galina and Francis's mother to help her.

While Francis was on the warzone, He met his 43 years old father. His 18 years old son told him everything, his father was supportive. However during the year tragedy had creeped into the lives of Francis and Nacha.

Francis lost many friends in the war, witnessing them die in front of his eyes. Even saw his father die in his arms. Galina fell ill with scarlet fever which sadly took her life, Nacha only had Henriette to help her look after Anastacha.It didn't help Anastacha who was only 2 years old wasn't getting enough sleep due to bombs going off in the background. She always came crying to her mother.

Four months after Galina's death, Henriette found out her husband's died through a letter. Henriette soon got broken heart broken heart syndrome. And died in the same year as her friend, Galina and her husband at age 42.

Nacha was a single mother, who was unmarried. Due to the stress of being looked down by society, Nacha went back onto the dating. She met her old classmate who was same age as her called "Albert" She dated him for 1 year before she got married to him.

When Nacha introduced Anastacha to her new husband, her husband asked her why she has a child. Nacha lied to him that Anastacha was her daughter from her last marriage that didn't last long because her ex husband died shortly after Anastacha from a illness. Anastacha was only 3 years old at the time.

Nacha would normally call a man called "Oswald" to see when Francis was coming home or give him a break to see him when her husband was at work. When Francis came back home for a break, He would visit Nacha alot. Causing them to her an affair behind her husband's back.

When in 1945, When Francis was visiting Nacha. Anastacha was in her bedroom alone. Something was creeped into the house, It was in the hallway. It started to mimic Nacha's voice, it wobbled to Anastacha's room, slowly crept into Anastacha's room.

"Honey, Mommy is here. Come to me."

Young Anastacha crawled to imposter Nacha until it violently grabbed Anastacha. Anastacha quickly knew something was wrong. She cried for her parents.

Nacha and Francis rushed to Anastacha and saw the doppelganger. Francis panicked and hit over the head with a crowbar. Over and over again, It released Anastacha. Anastacha rushed to her mummy. Francis tried to kill it, but it wouldn't die. Soon The doppel stopped in its track and ran off.

Francis and Nacha was traumatised by the event. The affair came more and more common after the event.

Soon 5, years later, Albert found out about the affair while And had a massive argument which caused Nacha to get hurt.

Soon Albert and Nacha divorced, Nacha was glad for the divorce. Nacha was free after 6 years of being a housewife. Nacha moved into the apartments as it was cheaper than a house. Nacha got a job as a chef in a local restaurant, Nacha always wanted be a chef after her father but her father didn't believe in her because she was a girl.

Now she can be a chef. Meanwhile Francis moved into the same apartments and got a job as a milkman.

Sadly over the years, Francis's mental health got worse, he was suffering with trauma and something else that was keep him awake. He came distanced to Nacha because of this, He still loves Nacha and he hates himself for leaving Nacha alone being a single mother even though Nacha is suffering with her own demons too.
