The cathode ray oscilloscope (CRO)1
CRO The cathode ray oscilloscope is an electrical test device used to produce waveforms in response to several input signals. It was originally known as an oscillograph. It is a development of the cathode ray tube. A standard cathode ray tube has the following parts: The electron gun A system of plates for deflecting the electron beam An evacuated strong glass envelope A fluorescent screen…

Does halosoft makes oscilloscopes? :3
Thanks to @0046incognito for sharing the halosoft logo (as a logo fanatic I thank him every day). That's propably the only proper fan art I ever made
The signals were generated via software based on vector logo I made from the halosoft reference logo. Then connected via very noisy wires! (thanks to my pirate radio station - _-). The oscilloscope (actually an oscillograph) is a Soviet made H3017 made specifically for primary/high school lab use manufactured in 1991(still in Soviet union!). It's the only one I have that can do XY mode (Left channel audio for x soo horizontal and Right channel audio for Y soo vertical). The generation process took much more than expected.
CMY2K was a blast waiting for more!

It turns out that the only quickly-accessible CRT monitor I have anymore is this guy:
This is a karaoke machine, built for the format CD+G. That is, It'll play normal CD audio, of course, but putting karaoke lyrics on the little black&white screen requires they be on special discs that I don't have. (I keep meaning to figure out CD+G authoring, but other projects have had higher priority.) It does, however, have RCA jacks around the back to input audio and composite video, so game systems or video players can use the thing easily.
Sound coming in through the microphone jacks in front can go through an echo system; I don't remember the details right at the moment.
Back before I had a working analog oscilloscope I had intended to hack this guy into an oscillograph (basically an always-XY o'scope without the calibration), taking the X and Y inputs off the microphone jacks, but right now it's slightly more useful to have a monitor.

An oscilloscope is also known as oscillograph; and casually known as an extension or o-scope, or CRO (for cathode-beam oscilloscope), or DSO (for the more present day computerized capacity oscilloscope.

FWIW, "The Oscillographer" was the house magazine for DuMont, a company that made cathode ray tubes and devices using them, like oscilloscopes and televisions. They even briefly ran the US's fourth television network, from 1946-1956; the stations they owned ultimately became Metromedia, which formed the nucleus of the Fox network.

Today's Army has some jobs that might surprise you — for example, did you know the Army has instrument repair technicians? These troops repair musical instruments for the Army Band. But during World War II, there were a lot of jobs that would seem strange in today's technologically focused military. Over the course of the war, technological advances reduced or eliminated the need for many manual occupations. Field Artillery Sound Recorder Until the development of radar, sound ranging was one of the most effective ways to locate enemy artillery, mortars and rockets. The process was first developed in World War I, and continued to be used in combat through the Korean War. From a forward operating post, a field artillery sound recorder would monitor an oscillograph and recorder connected to several microphones. When the sound of an enemy gun reached a microphone, the information would be recorded on sound film and the data from several microphones could be analyzed to locate the enemy gun. The technology is still in use today by many countries, which often use sound ranging in concert with radar. The Field Artillery Firefinder RADAR Operator (13R) of today’s Army is responsible for detecting enemy forces and alerting the units in the Army. Using a “firefinder” — which are highly specialized radars — they can detect various objects and their locations.
