Sparks to Fire

There's something special between Ruby Rose and Oscar Pine from practically the first day they meet at Signal, two shy, awkward thirteen year olds who want to be Hunters. The fact that Oscar is one of her only classmates with no preconceived notions about her doesn't hurt, either. To Oscar she's not "Yang's baby sister" or "Mr. Xiao Long's daughter" or "the poor girl who lost her mother", she's just Ruby. It was nice to have someone who looked at her and saw her for a change. Oscar for his part is just grateful to finally be making a friend his own age.

So if Ruby babbles to her big sister a touch too long about her new friend, or if Oscar uncharacteristically gushes about Ruby in the letters he sends back home to Pine Farms, no one bats an eye.

Eventually they inevitably talk about why they want to be Hunters and Ruby explains about her desire to be a hero like the ones in her books. She's pleasantly surprised when Oscar doesn't try to do what people have for years and remind her life doesn't work that way. Ruby is well aware of that, thanks. If the world really did work the same way as her books, Summer Rose would've come home. Ruby's known that life isn't a fairytale since she was four years old.

Instead of gently telling her that her dreams are foolish, Oscar tells her about his father. How he was a kind and selfless man who would take jobs that didn't pay all that well, because someone needed to protect the villages outside the kingdoms or the ones that were so small they didn't even have names. There's pride in his voice as he talks about following in the footsteps of a father he can barely remember, but there are also tears in his eyes. Ruby, acting on impulse, wraps the boy in a hug. Oscar is startled, but returns the gesture.

They were pretty much inseparable after that.

Last Survivor Au

Well, I came here to comment on more headcanons about the ''sole survivor'' au and that I can help @howlingday with the plot or ideas, I hope you like it guys. I'm going to start with history and events for characters and to finish psychologically, so look at the sky and welcome to this infinite tsukuyomi

History and Events:

Well for the death of the rwby and (j)npr teams and I believe that cardin's team died, that would count as 11 deaths in something that was just to present the school and test the qualities of the students. With this death count, Beacon and Ozpin would gain a bad reputation from other kingdoms and give themselves to the people of Vale, thereby potentially accelerating certain events that take place in volumes 1 to 3.

With Blake's death in this universe, many events that happen with White Fang that are explored in this volume and in the 4th would be faster, but in a bad sense, with Blake's death, Adam could use her as an example to gain more trust between the faunus.

Ironwood looking at this death count could end up giving Ozpin a slight scolding but it would help him with more protection in the kingdom and speeding up the introduction of penny. Coming back in the white fang trope because of this the introduction of sun would also be faster than in canon.

Characters:

Jaune would probably take practical classes or be forced to spend some time because of his psychology. Maybe he would gain a slight fame among the other students but nothing exaggerated, It's maybe because of the events I mentioned ozpin could try to form a team between Jaune Sun and Penny, Probably at first Jaune might think it's a bad idea but I'll do that leave it with @howlingday .

Characters that appear in future volumes like Oscar I can only see them in the future, because following the canon Oscar wouldn't have a reason to enter Beancon other than Ozpin, but maybe we can change that in this universe like Ozpin launching more opportunities for kingdoms for people who want to be hunters to join beacon.

I commented about Jaune gaining fame, He would have a fan of being the only survivor but it would be something like a curse, Everywhere he goes people recognize him as the only survivor, Newspapers try to interview him to discuss more about the case of the 11 deaths but he always refuses

Psychologically:

We know that Jaune is one of the characters with a bad psychology but there are two characters who butt heads, Winter and Tai. Winter being the older sister who believed that her younger sister was strong for the world to respond with the news of her death, Tai is a former hunter who lost his wife and was abandoned by another, having to take care of his daughters alone with his teammate, He trusted that the two were strong and then heard the tragic news of their death,

Ozpin gained another weight on his back because in his vision because of his trust and irresponsibility he caused the death of potential hunters and one of the people who contained a power that could help in his greatest objective, And perhaps he killed one of the last people who had silver eyes.

Jaune after the incident would get a call from his family and they would talk and probably in free time Jaune would travel to visit them to help with his psychological issue, And I believe that Penny and Sun could be a company that would help Jaune to improve.

ok I'm sure or at least I think you must know those stories where the protagonist finds "x" object or goes through a really crazy situation from which he should not survive in the craziest cases and in others they outright acquire it after stretching The paw and wake up in another world or time and you get a system that helps you be powerful or live to whatever is happening in the world at that moment. now imagine an au where jaune receives a system a year before applying to beacon, but it is the system of the supreme subordinate. Between jaune and the system they have to find and convert someone into a good leader in order to be the best subordinate… but somehow fate keeps sticking its tongue out at the all-powerful dial system and throwing jaune into the positions of leaders or protagonists, the clearest example is becoming the leader of the JNPR team.

It was the same story as before. Jaune did his best to bring his best friend up to speed as a great leader, only for them to fail in some horrible and miserable way that inevitably made him the leader. He tried with Cardin, and that failed. He tried with Ruby, and she shut down. Now it was all on his new choice of leader.

Jaune: Alright, Oscar. This is it. It's all on you. Just remember what I taught you.

Oscar: Okay.

Oscar: Everyone, listen to me!

Ozpin: (Shifts over) Thank you. (Walks away)

Jaune: (Rips out his hair)

7. Which character do you think changed the most from their canon version? Which one changed the least?

Gonna answer this for the Halfway House AU :)

The most changed is definitely Tyrian Callows. I tried to keep somethings, like his quirkiness and unbridled devotion. But I channeled it into art and a toxic relationship instead of murder and destroying an entire world.

The least changed probably goes to Blake. Their backstory and everything is literally the exact same. They just end up at a shelter instead of a fighting school. That's pretty much the only difference. Oh, and I made them non-binary.

So watched through Ever-Morrow (cause its newest episode popped up in my search) and its actually an interesting take that is how AU's should be done relatively anyway. Spoilers below the cut I guess?

As far as I'm aware the creator isn't treating it as "the better version" or a "fix" from arrogance

RWBY isn't pushed back to make room for male characters

Jaune and Pyrrha are actually together, even though it is a bit awkward in how its done

Oscar has his circumstances altered but not him erased

Cardin is put as the asshole he is and deserves to be. I highly doubt there will be anything suggested between him and Velvet, which is plus by itself

Rather than trying to glorify or boost up Adam's sect of the WF, introducing an anti-faunus militant group that goes after faunus thus reinforcing why ones like Sienna would form (ones that do controlled violence instead of terrorist violence)

Like Ilia being an undercover agent and it even kind of goes into a parallel to Raven & Qrow in their infiltrating Beacon to learn how to kill Huntsman/Huntresses.

That being said I do scratch my head at Alyx being included, cause I just go "why?". Like she's an interesting enough character in v9 but not one shouting to have more time, though I do love the incorporation of Fairy Tales into her origins.

Also the idea of Oz turning teammates against each other even as a sparring deal doesn't fit in my eyes. The entire point of forming teams and that earlier part of the story was having them bond, having them fight each other runs against that.

Angsty Pairing: Schneekos... She's dead! And then you almost died at the hands of the same person that killed her in an eerily similar fashion. Maybe if you had been there for her, maybe if you had joined Ruby at climbing Beacon's tower... What if's, what if's.

Weirdest Pairing: Cinder/Weiss. I'm not sure what it's ship name is, but I read ONE fic where Cinder flirted with Weiss and it hit a switch in my mind lmao. They are so intense, I can see them getting on each other's nerves so much lol.

Lapis:

NOTP: Ugh Steven/Lapis. People used to ship Steven with Lapis on the early days. I remember it happening because Lapis looked more like a kid at the beginning, but then it persisted. I hated it so much.

BROTP: Lapis and Amethyst. Depressed and Anxious girls team up!

OTP and Fluffy Pairing: LAPIDOT ALL THE WAY BABEYYYYY. I WAS THERE WHEN WE BEGAN SHIPPING THEM AS A JOKE BEFORE 'THE RETURN' AND 'JAIL BREAK' HAPPENED. I died when they began living together in the barn. I really wished they could have fused :(

Second Choice: Pearlapis. I began shipping it because of their aesthetics. Plus, Lapis is supposed to be a high-ranking gem, and thus could have gotten a Pearl based off her rank. So... AU where that Pearl is our Pearl? Wihihi.

Angsty Pairing: Jaspis. The toxic relationship... Like yes we feel so good together but we're so shit to each other. :(

Poly Ship: Jaspidot. I like it! I read some fics when I was younger where Jasper got Stevenized (pfft) and she decided to get better. She mends her relationship with Lapidot aaaand eventually gets together with them. They were cuuute.

I'll share a bit about my AU, too 🙈

I refer to it as my Halfway House AU. The idea is that Beacon is a non-profit meant to house kids with no home, run by Ozpin.

His core staff members are Pyrrha and Jaune (who end up together), but the staff grows as time goes on.

Qrow is a dedicated volunteer who spends a lot of his time there because he loves kids and really likes what Beacon does (and also he wants to flirt with the handsome man in charge when he can).

Beacon takes care of a bunch of canon characters, including Oscar, Blake, Mercury, Cinder, Weiss, Whitley, Ren, and Nora. Most of the kids are aged down a bit. They are all residence at the same time and become very close friends :)

I actually just finished writing Ch. 20 this morning, but I posted Ch. 10 of my long fic for this AU yesterday 🙈 it's called Home is Where Your Light Shines Brightest (which is Beacon's vision statement in the AU XD)

1 year after the war against Salem our heroes Team RWBY and Team JNPR(Yes Oscar is a part of the team because of his last name Pine) decided to retire from fighting and started their new life, Blake and Yang got married at 20, Nora and Ren also got married and have 2 kids named Yui and Maki Valkyrie, Jaune is still single but he adopted a 4 year old girl named Sapphire, Oscar returned to the farm to help his aunt and lastly Ruby and Weiss got married.

Unfortunately peace won't last forever as Cinder Fall(The Fall Maiden) was back and is far stronger than ever to overthrow both teams however Oscar or Ozpin have something on his mind.

When both teams heard about his plan. They. We're. Horrorfied, you see his plan was Team JNPR will find help and fight Cinder while Team RWBY will run and hide from Cinder at first Ruby was against this because it means they will never see each other again and the rest of their families(Taiyang, Qrow, Raven, Winter, Whitley, Willow, Ghira and Kali) but Ozpin assured Ruby that everything will worked out in the end, Ruby didn't know if she could trust him with his words but she goes along with it.

When both teams arrived at the Mirror of Darkness which was kept hidden even after the Battle of Beacon, Ozpin assured them that nothing will happen. Both Teams said goodbye to each other and Ruby told Jaune to write a letter to their families(Taiyang, Qrow, Raven, Winter, Whitley, Willow, Ghira and Kali), Team RWBY hopped unto the mirror going to a new world.

the overthrown au is very ozpin and oscar centric, and it takes a completely different route from og rwby. volumes 1 and 2 are more or less the same, but around volume 3 is where it really becomes different. instead of just attacking beacon and making it fall, salem decides to, instead, reveal to the world herself and ozpin's true nature (though, she twists the truth a bit), and the truth about everything, with proof to boot. this lands the whole world into chaos, and because of people demanding the vale council to do something, ozpin is quickly exiled, and because of qrow's and glynda's association with him, they both get mobbed, gravely injured, and end up succumbing to their injuries.

because of salems manipulation, the world being drenched in fear, and ironwoods own paranoia, he's pressured into repeatedly sending out parties to look for and capture ozpin at any cost, and for the next couple years, ozpin is hunted down by nearly all of the kingdoms (except vacuo; theo is the only one who still tries to help oz, but his power is limited, and oz can't get to vacuo because of the desert terrain).

oz goes through a lot in this time, both good and bad. a lot of people are torn on what to think, a lot blindly following the masses and believing ozpin to be as bad as salem said. ozpin is forced to do a lot of questionable things to survive, and for a while he does his best to avoid hurting anyone, even if he's forced to mug someone, steal, etc. though, as time goes by, the stress and hurt of his situation piles on top of him more and more. oz has been bottling up a lot these past several lifetimes, and this entire situation is starting to be the straw that breaks the camels back.

by the time oz gets back to vale after his temporary home was burned down, he's having to actively stomp out his bottled up anger from boiling over. he's paranoid, afraid, untrusting, and to his shock, the only people willing to help him are criminals; roman torchwick and neo politan. they seem to understand him, even if oz can tell they aren't entirely truthful (though, he can't tell if that's his instincts, or his paranoia).

either way, ozpin has a place to settle down at, and now that he's not running all the time, defending himself, fighting- he crashes hard, all of the events from the past few years crashing down on him, and in his trauma and grief-fueled despair, he finds comfort in an old friend; alcohol. he's done his best not to touch it for several lifetimes now, but even centuries-old habits die hard, and he falls back into the alcoholism he swore off lifetimes ago. he's filled with grief and hurt and betrayal, only now able to process what he's gone through now that he has a chance to rest.

though, even this break isn't truly a break, because salem herself hasn't stopped hunting him down and sending her lackeys and grimm after him. it's utterly exhausting, and doesn't help his bottled anger that keeps bubbling to the surface time and time again, no matter what he does, his effort to bottle it again becoming futile. it only really starts coming out when one of salem's lower lackeys is sent after him, a vicious woman whose name he never learns, wielding a deadly double-edged rapier. the fight is brutal, and in the middle of it, his cane snaps in half, and oz has to resort to using his bare fists to fight. because of how close he gets, the lackey manages to catch his right arm and cut it off at the shoulder, and in a last ditch effort to save his own life out of pure fear, oz manages to steal one half of the woman's rapier and kills her.

later, after roman has cauterized his wound with burn dust and given him plenty of time to rest, oz has several mixed feelings over the fight. he feels guilty, yet justified. guilty because he killed someone (despite having lifetimes of memories of taking others lives), guilty because a small part of him enjoyed it. justified because she attacked first, justified because salem sent her after him. oz is feeling many mixed emotions, and struggling to come to terms with the loss of his arm, and dealing with his trauma, that he hardly realizes how harsh he starts being towards roman and neo. he snaps and snarls in defense like a beaten dog, and when he feels guilty, he beats it back in an attempt to not feel it anymore.

oz thinks and he thinks with all of his free time (at least, the time not spent drinking himself half to death), and he comes to several realizations. if he kept running- he'd have to keep running for lifetimes until this civilization, these kingdoms, inevitably crumbled and collapsed in on itself like he's witnessed so many times before. it's not like oz isn't used to running, but after doing so many lifetimes of running, he's so, so tired of it. and he remembers- everyone was willing and ready to rally against an enemy they thought was a threat to everyone. it'd happened so fast, too; it was practically the most united oz had ever seen humanity.

and he thought- 'if humanity is so willing to fight an enemy that threatened everyone... maybe i could be that enemy.'

it's a bad idea, a horrible one, one that he swears past lifetimes protest against, but oz knows that that's the entire point. and besides, it might just get him closer to finishing his mission, to finally stop his reincarnation cycle from hell. oz keeps this to himself in the meantime, though, waiting to come up with a good plan.

on one of ozpin's walks, however, he doesn't get to think about much, interrupted by something gruesome that he hoped to never see.

the second oz saw qrow's and glynda's half-rotted corpses, he fell to his knees, grief stabbing him harder than ever, entangled in a mix of horror and rage. he can't believe that his closest friends were just... dropped and abandoned here, like they were nothing, instead of properly buried. the grief grew stronger as oz sobbed, magic flaring, and-

gasps, coughing, two bodies, two friends once dead now alive, looking as if they'd never died in the first place, the only differences being the deep green eyes and veins and deathly paleness. no one understood it; not oz, not qrow, and not glynda. whatever happened seemed to be a one time thing, but oz could care less about what happened, instead just deciding to be glad that he had his friends back.

after settling qrow and glynda in, oz got to work on several things. first: his new weapon. second: his plans. first off, weapons were important, as oz was a huntsman and inevitably going to deal with grimm. he came up with blueprints and ideas, basing his new weapon off of the Long Memory, and even using some of the materials from the old cane. oz couldn't lie; having never made his own, original weapon, he went a little overboard in creating this one. the end result was The End of Days; a cane-sword that could form into a sort of bladed whip, utilizing all kinds of dust for different uses.

when The End of Days had blown through a wall and burnt down half of their base, oz decided it was best to move on to his next plan. when the alarms went off, alerting them of a grimm attack in the middle of his brainstorming, oz had gone to fight them. but, in the middle of the fight, he had heard a grimm yelp, and another howl in what seemed to be pain. in a half-baked idea, oz had yelled at the others to capture one of the beowulves, and when they had, oz shared his idea.

despite the others protests, oz experimented with the grimm, testing out various things. he didn't care when the beowulf howled or whimpered in pain; after all, it was just a grimm, it was an empty shell. when the beowulf screamed at him, he screamed back, and when the grimm swiped at him, he swiped back. both refused to cower and back down. but, when oz dug his blade into it's neck, just under the metal collar, growling in anger after a long day of failure and arguments-

the grimm backed down, tail between it's legs, still snarling but seeming to acknowledge that oz wasn't one to trifle with. when it finally listened to his order to sit down and shut up, the red had faded, instead replaced with a toxic green. apparently, the grimm had only ever served one master, but this one knew that it had a new one, even if it didn't agree. and with that, oz was satisfied.

over time, oz did the same thing to many other grimm, with the help of the others. but, even if he had his own goals that he had tunnel vision for, he still was interrupted.

when cinder, emerald, and mercury had come to not-so-nicely interrogate him (and attempt to capture or kill him), oz was honest with every answer he gave. the shock on their faces when oz's grimm chased them off amused him for days afterward, until they had come back; not on salems order, but on their own.

every question they asked, he answered truthfully again. about the grimm, about salem, anything they asked. a few visits was all it took for the truth to start weakening their loyalty to salem, even if it hadn't originally been oz's intention. and after a few more, they sided with oz, even if they had their own reasons. it took longer to poke and prod at watts, but after proving that they shared a common enemy, one that oz knew far better than salem, watts was convinced.

getting more allies was a side effect of sorts of oz's plans, but it wasn't an unwelcome one. he shared his plans with salem's previous lieutenants (after proving they weren't going to blab to salem), as well as roman and neo. oz knew qrow and glynda wouldn't like it, so he'd wait to tell.

unfortunately, it didn't take a long time for qrow and glynda to find out, and for them to end up in a screaming match before qrow and glynda were finally kicked out of oz's room. oz bottled up his guilt and shame and sadness, and instead used his anger as a defense, and he found himself tearing his room apart afterwards.

oz drove himself into his work to distract himself and avoid qrow and glynda, drinking more and planning. before long, he had located a certain Dr. Merlot and had requested to see him. after long discussions through a video call, they met up at merlots lab, and before oz knew it, he was outfitted with an entirely new arm made of grimm.

the surgery had been agonizing after merlot had stubbornly refused to properly anaesthetize oz after strapping the man down. the second oz was able to, he had torn off the mans prosthetic, before letting him off with a warning and finally letting him experiment on the grimm oz had.

when oz finally had access to the cct tower in beacon, and as the vytal festival drew nearer, the arguments with qrow and glynda got more frequent. the stress weighed oz down as the date of the festival got ever closer.

when the day came- everything happened in a blur. Penny Polendina was torn in half, he spoke his speech to the entirety of remnant, yang xiao long had her arm cut off, ruby rose used her silver eyes, pyrrha nikos's leg had been torn off at the knee, and the fall maidens powers were taken. oz used his grimm, took the atlesian knights and paladins, barricaded as many people as he could inside beacon and vale, and kept the wyvern to himself.

every ounce of guilt he felt he shoved down until he forgot he felt it at all, and instead relishing in the destruction, laughing in the face of the gods themselves as he took control of vale. this wasn't vale anymore; it was oz's kingdom, and oz was the head monarch of it, the leader, the damn king. he could care less that teams rwby and jnpr ran from the kingdom that had once been their home. he laughed viciously as his first beowulf tore apart the newest headmaster in front of a horrified crowd, and he snarled when past professors tried to tell him to stop. no one could tell him what to do; oz was an immortal, he possessed magic, and he was King. even if what he was doing was ultimately an attempt at destroying himself, it didn't matter. he figured everyone else should be grateful. oz was giving them unity, after all.

after a month of oz's reign, he tore apart a defiant village with his grimm, green fire writhing and spreading. he payed attention to nothing, but he heard something that caught his attention.

a babies cry.

oz followed the sound, admittedly curious, and found an orange bundle hidden under a pile of broken wood. he carefully pulled it out of the wreckage (and he'd never admit to having a soft spot for children), and hazel eyes peered at him from under a mop of brown hair and a smattering of freckles that was already starting to form. oz peered on the blanket for a name, and found one.

Oscar’s Confidant

Oscar talking to a cow about becoming a huntsman? In my Rosegarden fanfic? It’s more likely than you think.

“I don’t want to be a farmhand forever,” Oscar Pine says to the cow he’s milking. “Don’t get me wrong, I love Aunt Em, I love our farm, I love the other farmhands, and I love the animals, but Remnant is just too big to stay cooped up here forever.”

Some would question why Oscar is telling this to the cow instead of one of his friends or one of the aforementioned farmhands or his Aunt Em. But truth be told there aren’t really any people his age in the little town where the Pines sell their goods, and he doesn’t want to talk with the adults in his life about it until he’s sure he can convince them. “Moo,” the cow says, and Oscar decides to take that as agreement.

Oscar nods, still milking the cow. “Yep, I want to try and become a Huntsman like Dad was,” the dark-haired boy says. “Of course, that means going to one of the combat schools, and there aren’t any nearby… Which means Aunt Em will be down a farmhand…”

And really that’s what’s held him back from bringing it up before now. He’s been thinking about this a long time, ever since he was old enough to understand what being a Hunter meant. But he’s never quite managed to talk to his aunt about it. Because, despite the fact their farm is successful and well regarded by their little town, Aunt Em isn’t exactly rolling in money. Oscar’s honestly not sure if she can afford paying for him to go to a combat school and hire a new farmhand to make up for his share of the work while school is in session.

For the twin Au… so, Jaune’s eyes definitely flare red when he attacks Oscar, right? Yang hangs back in that scene and is shocked at Jaune for flying off the handle like that. Does she have more complicated thoughts on it knowing Jaune is her brother and that his anger and is her anger?

A few months ago Yang might’ve been surprised that Jaune blew up like that. But then Beacon fell, and Mistral happened, and she could feel her twin’s rage and self hatred as he all but begged Cinder to kill him

So no, it doesn’t really shock her that much at all

Afterwards, she ends up also apologizing to Oscar. When their emotions are running high it’s hard to tell whose are whose. If Jaune’s blow up was because of him or because of her

Yang ALSO goes and talks to Jaune, because the wave of grief he felt when he found Pyrrha’s statue was so strong her words got stuck in her throat in the middle of talking to Blake

They share a sibling hug and then Yang hits him upside the head for scaring Oscar like that. And for worrying her

Pranked my sister??!! (GONE WRONG?): Yang plays a prank on Ruby telling her that in second year it's customary at Beacon to kiss your close friends goodbye on the cheek. Weiss is flustered. Jaune is confused. Penny is just vibing and 100% ok with this.

Bad hair day: Blake finds out that everyone except her dyes their hair as she proceeds to get her mind blown by her friends and mentors with drastically different hair colours. All the while she keeps her own secret... Blake is bald.

Crazy Stupid RWBY: A mid 40's Taiyang is distraught when his second wife files for a divorce. Left to wallow in his sadness in a nearby bar he is helped up by a Sun Wukong who can't help but pity him. Sun helps to teach Tai his mildly problematic dating methods while Sun finds himself actually falling for an unconventional gun-obsessed red-head who his techniques don't work on.

Eye spy: Adam is a "handsome" assassin who's doing what he does by seducing his targets and killing them at their most exposed. In reality, he's horrible at this and the story is just various chapters of him trying to be an "alpha podcast guy" but failing every single time to disastrous results.

Film production AU: Oscar is a young director hot off the press on his first indie film and has been handed a blank check by SDC entertainment to make whatever the hell he wants for his next film. Join him through the process of trying to make a movie with an unusual cast and crew.

You giving more development to you Neverfell AU is ✨✨ especially on Ozpin, I remember you once said that Oz was like this before, but when you introduced Oscar and he becomes a student at Beacon that Oz kinda had a realization/epigyny after spending time with him and bonding with him (Ozdad hehe~) and is actually working to be better and less morally grey

Please expand on that I love the concept of Oz actually being morally grey and then Oscar being the one to open his eyes because they bond 👀

Mm, now I know why I held off on answering this one for so long...I really didn't have anything to add to that concept at the time, and to this day I still don't. ^^;

People seem to like asking me about Ozpin, and I guess I have presented some fun ideas about him, but just FYI I don't really spend that much time thinking about his character. He's pretty easy for me to write; just giving him a more fun personality automatically fills in a lot of the holes in his background, and provides opportunities for growth that aren't present in the canon. TL;DR, it's not hard to make him interesting, so I really haven't done much.

HOWEVER, since I'm here, I might as well try to come up with something...I can spitball a few ideas:

I think it'd be cool if both Ozpin and his daughters (the other members of Oscar's team, if you remember) could develop together, in a sense. Like, from the beginning they're kind of indifferent towards him, and going to his school and seeing his shady behavior firsthand probably lowers their opinion of him even more. ⚆u⚆; They might feel like giving up on their mission entirely; deciding their dysfunctional family is just beyond repair...but then, when Oz starts to turn himself around thanks to Oscar's influence, they in turn regain their hope. Maybe even enough to tell him who they really are.

^That would probably be the best possible ending to Oz's character arc, to be honest. ^^; To finally be reunited with his children after so long, and to hear that they originally came to find him just for convenience's sake (wonder where they get that from...), not even intending to interact with him unless they had to, but eventually saw enough good in him to decide they want to be part of each other's lives again. I think that would be very heartwarming, and it would encourage him to keep going~

Pedaling back a bit: I think one reason why Oscar could have an effect on Oz that other students (like Ruby for instance) did not is because he can't really gain anything from him. Oscar isn't particularly smart or talented; he hasn't been blessed with special powers or parentage; probably barely passed the entrance exam and doesn't even know how a Semblance works, let alone how to unlock one for himself. All he really has is that 'simple soul'. Of course, innocence also has its uses (like in the story I wrote for Gretchen), but at this point in the narrative, Ozpin doesn't have time for experiments anymore. ^^; Salem's already coming for him; anyone or thing that can't protect him isn't worth worrying about. So, instead of being tempted to make Oscar into a pawn, all he can really do is allow their relationship to grow organically.

Speaking of relationships, there are other characters that contribute to Oz's character arc: like Glynda, the one who started it all by being the first one to forgive him after the Lost Fable fiasco, and ask him to stay. She's his oldest friend, and truly believes in him, and would probably be the first one to see what a good influence he and Oscar have on each other. There's also Qrow, whose reaction in Neverfell is the complete opposite of the canon. I mean, he does get upset at first, but eventually he comes around (thanks to something Raven says, believe it or not) and realizes that the life he's led as a Huntsman still has value outside of whatever Ozpin was using him for. He even goes on to try to help Oz and protect him from WTCH...which is largely unsuccessful and mostly played as a joke, but it's the thought that counts. ^^ Finally there's Ironwood, who's a bit of a special case. He's honestly the one hurt the most by Ozpin's revelation-- as a leader of a kingdom, he's potentially destroyed a lot of lives by following Ozpin's advice, and for a while the guilt eats him alive. :T He doesn't really come around until after he meets Watts again and has his own epiphany...but I think after that, he and Oz could probably reconcile and become even better partners. I haven't thought that far ahead, though. ^^;

AU where Oscar instead goes to Beacon and becomes Pyrrha's partner, the spartan takes him somewhere private for some booping

Pyrrha: Oscar sorry to pull away from the others, but I’ve been having this problem lately you see.

Oscar: I would be happy to help.

Pyrrha lift her skirt and shows Oscar her wet underwear and beings to rub them. She leans back against the tree with a flush face and eyes what are heavily out of focus.

Pyrrha: you see ever time we are alone I get really hot down here. And it won’t stop until I touch it, but it allows comes back. Could you take a look?

Oscar: ahhh, sure I guess I can look.

Oscar leans in and kisses it, and then again and again. Soon his mouth is all over her and he is exploring deep into her, his hand come up to hold her thighs. She begins to moan loudly like an animal that has been wounded, both hands coming to hold his head in place. As she cums she shakes and shivers, scream thing out so the whole forest can hear.
