Imagine being invited to the Curry Lighthouse for Christmas by Orm Marius, for his first ever winter holiday. He has no idea what to expect but trusts you to guide him through the land dweller traditions with his family. Imagine meeting his brother there for the first time, and being welcomed by Atlanna, Tom, Mera and a little Arthur Jr.
-What family traditions might you observe with your new family?
-What is your Christmas gift to Orm?
-What Christmas movies do you watch and what's Orms' reaction to them?
I know the Holidays are over but dang it it's still cute to think about spending Christmas with Orm.

Batman: The Brave and The Bold Theory - The Atlantis Crowning
Note: If this gets good reactions, I may make more in the future.
So, this came to me as I was thinking about Orm Marius (AKA Ocean Master) and his relationship with his brother. Albeit, I was thinking up potential storylines with him for my other story, but that's not important right now. I was rewatching the episode "Evil Under The Sea," taking screenshots of Orm at all stages possible and enjoying the episode when I saw something I hadn't noticed on my first watch. See if you can spot it below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did you see it?
As Atlanna (the [presumed] then-Queen of Atlantis) approached her sons, Orm and Arthur (AKA Aquaman), they stood with confident smiles. Orm's confidence stemmed from his certainty of becoming the next king, and Arthur- Well, I'm not sure, but knowing him, it was probably just him being glad to be there.
As Atlanna gets closer, Orm closes his eyes (probably to relish the moment) and Arthur turns his head toward his older brother. And that's the thing that inspired me to write this post.
When Arthur turned his head toward Orm, he smiled at him. It may be my weird sleep schedule talking, but I think this indicates that Orm AND Arthur were certain that Orm was going to be the King of Atlantis that day.
Now, take a look at these images:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Atlanna goes up to Arthur, he's shocked as the crown is put on his head. While this happens, Orm opens his eyes at the lack of a crown on his head and turns to his side to see what happened. I think this happened because he saw his mother from his peripherals and the head turn was an instinctive decision. But take a look at his expressions.
In picture 1, Orm's eyes are still closed and smiling - likely still expecting the crown to be placed on his head. Picture 2 has Orm open his eyes when the crown wasn't placed on his head and his smile dropped, likely indicating he felt something was off. Picture 3 has Orm look to his left (our right) and sees what happened; he may also be glaring or squinting at what happened, but it's difficult to tell which it is.
And how do the two brothers react?
Tumblr media
Arthur's confusion turned to joy, beaming at becoming the next Ruler of Atlantis...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Orm looks shocked in the first image, and betrayed in the second. Based on his gaze and everyone's placements, it's likely he's looking at his mother for an answer to his unspoken question.
But does he ever get it?
Not that we've seen depicted in the flashback. Instead...
Tumblr media
Atlanna hands her youngest the Trident and the decision is finalized for all to see.
Now, granted, this could be a simple summary of events for us, the viewers, but seeing as there's nothing that contradicts the assumption (I kinda stopped watching the episode so I could write this down; if I'm missing something, don't hesitate to let me know) it stands to reason that Atlanna never gave an answer for her decision,
Well, perhaps not in that moment. Or to Orm...
Tumblr media
"She loved you, but she gave me the throne because she knew you couldn't handle the power."
That's what Aquaman said, anyway. Now, since we've yet to create the technology to cross into the amazing world of TB&TB (and I'm not in any position to do a lot of late-night research [I'm trying to tire myself out and get to bed]), it stands to reason that Atlanna saw something in her eldest that made her uneasy, such as a thirst for power, and so gave the title of King to her youngest.
Seems fairly simple, yeah?
Except...something feels off about this as well.
If Orm's power lust was the whole reason for Atlanna's decision...why didn't she just tell Orm in the first place? Why didn't she express her concerns regarding Orm's behavior to her son? Why were Orm and Arthur at the ceremony smiling? Better yet- Why was Arthur smiling at his brother in the first place????
Why did they both think that Orm was going to be the next King, if Atlanna knew that it'd be Arthur???
Maybe I'm missing some things, but something just doesn't seem right. I can't be the only one here who thinks it's a little sus how things played out.
The only reason I can think of for Atlanna's behavior (that doesn't involve my personal headcanons) is favoritism. We don't see much of Atlanna or Orm, one's implied to be dead and the other a one-appearance-only character, so we don't get much characterization after this point. However, it doesn't go against anything that's been presented to my knowledge. I say as I've yet to even watch all the way through the Criss Cross Conspiracy.
Regardless of the reason, that little detail of Orm and Arthur's expression in the flashback got my gears turning. I may be right, or wrong, or some flavor of both, but it's a little food for thought for all the overthinkers out there.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great timezone, and I will see you guys later! 🐟👑🦑

War: Prologue (1/4) King Orm/Reader
Sorry King Orm hasn’t showed up yet, he’s coming. This really got away from me. I mean it was supposed to be a one-shot. The next part will be up tonight or tomorrow. Welcome to: War.
You're a land-dwelling god. A relic from the before times. Before the wretched humans.
Orm seeks your army: your soldiers, your weapons, you.
*
The day begins, the sun rises high into the sky, bright and burning; the heat inescapable as it pours over your shade-less land. Sweat drips down your forehead and pastes your thin clothing against your back.
Children run wild, red clay stains on their knees. Adults go about their trades: merchants boast bountiful harvests of fruit and wheat, butchers offer fresh meats from today's hunt, seamstresses sell fine garments.
A small girl knocks into your leg and falls onto her backside. A fond smile graces your features. “Can I help you, young one?”
The young girl stands quickly and bows, she glances up to look into your eyes, but averts her gaze. “Priestess Hera needs to speak with you” She says.
Your heart jumps, “Oh! I almost forgot” You wave to the young girl and head for the temple.
*
The temple in which Priestess Hera resides is one of your people's oldest. Built at the top of a sturdy hill, the temple has stood for millennia. The five deities, sculpted into the pillars that held the temple up, smile down onto your kingdom. From the bottom of the steps, the temple looks gold beneath the sun; as you reach the top, the temple appears milky yellow.
Opaque green stones line the temple floor, you follow their path. Inside the temple the walls are a wet red color, in the middle of the vast interior is a sparkling pool.
“Priestess Hera?” You call out.
Your voice echoes off the temple walls. No answer. You weren’t so late that she would believe you weren’t coming, possibly she’d just fallen asleep.
“Priestess Hera?” You tried again, louder.
“My Child” Priestess Hera says, her voice velvet smooth and coming from behind you. Her bony fingers grip your shoulder, pulling you toward the great pool.
You smile, she’d always been mischievous. Though, you hadn’t been young enough to frighten in 10 years, it was tradition for her to try.
“You’ll have to read this, my liege” Priestess Hera says.
“I’ve never been good at reading the water,” Hera shushes you and points. Water drips off the stalactites into the sparkling water below. You watch the water ripple, reading the great pool has always been a weakness of yours, not that your people could know. Though you were sure the pool wasn’t supposed to do that, wasn’t supposed to turn red like blood. Your heart picks up.
“What does it mean?”
“War.”

Orm Marius headcanons: rain.
Fandom: Aquaman/DC
Tumblr media
The concept of rain is difficult to grasp by those who live underwater.
Only those who have any experience with the outside world would know what it is, or at least what it looks like.
Orm was fascinated, and a little grossed out by it the first time it happened. The land was supposed to be a land, so there was no reason for him to believe there would come a time when the water would decide to pour over it. And from where exactly? Was there something above the land too?
If, by chance, he had someone to ask about it, he'd definitely do it. Orm would try to sound casual as to not betray his curiosity and lack of knowledge.
He'd listen to the explanation carefully, doing his best to understand it, but he'd ask a lot of follow-up questions. It would be clear how much the worlds differ even in the simplest of aspects.
If Orm had a s/o born on land, there's a fairly good chance that he'd take them under the surface and show them what the rain looks like from that perspective.
It was a mesmerizing experience. The drops of rain seemed to just appear, hitting the surface and distorting the water. The clouds rolling over the sky cut off most of the light, casting deep shadows over the water.
The only flashes of light came along with a storm, when the lightning thundered deep under the water, the sound somewhat muffled, but deeper than you could experience on the land.
It was difficult for Orm to judge if he enjoyed the underwater experience of a storm, but he definitely enjoyed observing your reactions to each new aspect of a thing you thought you were so familiar with.

Base of operations: Poseidonis, Atlantis
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 325 lbs.
History:
43 years ago: Orin is born to Atlanna, queen of Atlantis. An ancient Atlantean superstition stated that children born with blond hair are cursed, and Atlanna and baby Orin are cast out from the kingdom. Atlanna travels to Amnesty Bay, Maine, where she meets lighthouse keeper Tom Curry. The two fall in love, and together they raise the child, newly rechristened Arthur.
33 years ago: Atlanna dies of pneumonia, due to a weakened immune system not accustomed to surface illnesses. On her deathbed, she tells Arthur of his true nature.
27 years ago: Tom Curry dies of a heart attack. After his funeral, Arthur leaves home to seek out his heritage.
26 years ago: Arthur briefly spends time in Alaska, falling in love with an Inuit woman named Kako and, unbeknownst to him, getting her pregnant. He’s driven away by the demonic god Nuliajuk before he can learn of the pregnancy.
24 years ago: Arthur is led to Atlantis by a pod of dolphins, and there he meets royal advisor Vulko and claims his birthright, learning of his heritage and usurping the crown from the corrupt king Orvax.
22 years ago: Orin first comes into conflict with Orm Marius, his half-brother, the Ocean Master, who tries to usurp the throne of Atlantis for himself.
20 years ago: Orin teams up with Barry Allen to fight the Trickster, and Barry dubs him “Aquaman.”

18 years ago: Orin takes the young Atlantean mage Garth on as a protege.
17 years ago: Orin and Mera have their first child, Arthur Jr.
15 years ago: Arthur Jr. is murdered by the Black Manta as part of an elaborate scheme to take revenge on Aquaman and Atlantis for past defeats.
12 years ago: In the wake of the Justice League’s disbanding, Orin joins the Martian Manhunter’s new League, headquartered out of the Secret Sanctuary in Happy Harbor. Mera leaves him soon thereafter, wrecked with concerns over his commitment to her.
11 years ago: Aquaman is one of the many heroes involved in the fight against the Anti-Monitor.
10 years ago:
Aquaman again fights Ocean Master when the latter attacks Amnesty Bay.
Orin returns to Atlantis to find it conquered by a race of giant jellyfish. He succeeds in driving them out, and reclaims his throne.
9 years ago: Atlantis becomes embroiled in civil war, as Poseidonis is besieged and overrun by forces from Tritonis, allied with Black Manta
8 years ago:
Orin receives the Atlantis Chronicles, learning of his relation to Ocean Master and beginning to sink into a deep depression.
Orin and his ally Dolphin are kidnapped by the terrorist Charybdis, who plunges his arm into a pool of piranhas, cutting his left hand off at the wrist. He replaces it with a harpoon.
Arthur returns to the Arctic, meeting again with Kako and his fully grown son, Koryak. Koryak chooses to travel with him and Dolphin on their travels.
Orin joins the newly reformed Justice League of America in response to a White Martian threat on Earth.
Orin and Garth reunite after time apart, and Garth takes the new title of Tempest.
7 years ago:
Orin reunites the scattered city-states of Atlantis to stand together against the threat of Tiamat.
Orin’s harpoon hand is broken, and he is given a robotic hand to replace it, indistinguishable from flesh and blood.
Arthur and Mera reconcile as Atlantis goes to war with the island nation of Cerdia.
6 years ago:
Atlantis vanishes in the wake of the war against Imperiex, hurled into the Obsidian Age by Atlantean magic and enslaved by the sorceress Gamemnae. The Justice League and Orin succeed in returning Atlantis to its proper time.
A large portion of San Diego, California is sunken into the Pacific due to the machinations of Dr. Anton Geist. Orin annexes the city into Atlantis, taking San Diego native Lorena Marquez on as the new Aquagirl.
5 years ago: Atlantis is besieged by Lex Luthor’s Secret Society, and Aquaman leads the charge to defend it. Koryak dies during the battle.
4 years ago:
Arthur re-joins the Justice League.
Atlantis joins the United Nations, appointing Garth as their ambassador to the world.
3 years ago:
Orin comes into conflict with the Trench, a lost tribe of Atlanteans evolved to live in the deepest parts of the ocean.
Orin recruits a group of individuals into a team called the Others to search for lost Atlantean artifacts across the globe.
Half-Atlantean mage Kaldur’ahm comes to stand alongside Orin as the new Aqualad.
2 years ago: While Orin is on a mission with the Justice League, Orm seizes the throne of Atlantis for himself. Orin takes it back, and then decides to retire from superhero work to better rule his kingdom. Lorena Marquez becomes Aquawoman in his stead.
1 year ago: Arthur and Mera have their second child, a daughter named Mareena.
Present day: Orin and Mera begin to investigate the disappearance of the sea god Poseidon.
Commentary:
Aquaman is an interesting one, as for a long time he was a bit of a wildcard character, having many portrayals across various runs that differed wildly from one another, many of them a direct reaction to his depiction in Super Friends, which earned him a fair bit of public ridicule. What resulted was a regular cycle of Arthur being king of Atlantis and then being exiled, and he and Mera being together and then separated. This depiction aims to streamline that, with only one major period of exile from the throne, leading into the events of Peter David’s run, which are largely preserved here.
The lack of major Aquaman storylines in the twilight years of the post-Crisis DCU also allowed me to bring in several New 52 stories here, as well as introducing the idea from Young Justice of Arthur retiring from superhero work and passing his mantle on, again tying into the major theme of legacy that I’ve chosen to embrace. (Although, as Kaldur’ahm isn’t yet old enough in this timeline, that responsibility instead goes to Lorena Marquez.)
Arthur as a character is defined here by his responsibility, to his kingdom and to his family. He will defend them to the death and prioritize them before anything else, even if it causes him personal tragedy. Despite their past difficulties, he and Mera have reconciled and have a stable, loving relationship, and Arthur works hard to ensure that the disparate city-states that make up the loose nation of Atlantis remain at peace, even forsaking his duties with the Justice League to focus on his kingdom.
As far as physical appearance is concerned, the recent, Jason Momoa-inspired look DC’s been using as of late is absolutely perfect. It preserves the classic orange and green while giving him a little bit of an edge with the long hair and beard - a nice middle ground between the classic clean-cut Aquaman and the hook-handed Orin from David’s run. He’s a warrior king, he should look the part, and it’s almost a rule that every male superhero looks better with a beard.
Coming up next: Aquawoman (Lorena Marquez) and one that will sure to piss people off: Nightwing!
Got any questions? Asks are open!

Lovers between the sea and the land
(Orm Marius x reader)
Summary: Orm meets Y/n, a normal human, and she somehow managed to friend him which turns into a bubbling romance.
Tumblr media
The surface dweller Y/n, dated the fearsome ex-King Orm and it was a unique one. When he met her as one of Arthur’s surface friends he felt some sort of connection but the thought that it would blossom into a romance no one saw it coming. Out of all people, Arthur was the least shocked because he kinda hooked them up. Y/n asked him for his reason of wanting to destroy the surface and she understood but she wanted to show him that there is some hope for them. She educated him on the ‘surface beauty’ spending hours and days together. And Orm enjoyed it, he loved walking out of the sea and walking to her house hoping to learn more and to listen to her melodic voice. When she taught she taught him everything she looked at him and said happily
‘That’s it for now.’
Orm was a little taken back not wanting for it to end, he enjoyed her company, truly. He knew he was of pure royal blood but when he was with Y/n he didn’t feel the need to ‘shove’ it in her face, he can relax in her divine presence.
‘Can I kiss you?’ Orm asks as he looks at Y/n hoping for a positive response.
The first time he left with Arthur he saw his brother kiss Y/n on the cheek so Orm copied it and kissed her as well. She was a little shocked at first but it became a sort of a tradition between of them.
Y/n nods and leans to him giving a small cheek kiss and pulls back thinking that he will leave.
Orm shakes his head not wanting THAT kind of kiss ‘No, a proper kiss, on the lips.’
Y/n looks at him and tries to process what he said. She, of course, had feelings for him as well but he was a King.
‘Orm...’ she trails of not knowing how to answer it, weighing her reality and her fantasy.
The ex-King knew if he didn’t kiss her now he would regret it his whole life. He inched closer to her seeing her eyes focus on his and moved closer to her lips. When they came in contact Orm knew what love felt like and he craved for it. Love was a foreign subject for him it wasn’t present when his father was alive and he when he met his mother again it was too much for him so meeting Y/n was a blessing in disguise. Orm wanted her affection, he wanted to hold her hand, to kiss it, to witness the beauties of life with her.
And he didn’t want to hold back he just needed a push, a sign for her that she wants it too, with him. Y/n caved in putting her hand on the back of his neck bringing him even closer to her. As the couple parted a smile plastered on their faces.
‘I have very strong feelings for you, Y/n.’ Orm says feeling a wave of happiness wash over him.
‘I need a moment.’ Y/n blurs out as she stands up walking out of the house and on the balcony to calm herself.
What??? was the only words that repeated in Orm’s mind, he just confessed to Y/n her feelings and she rejected him?
‘Don’t take it to heart, Orm.’ Arthur’s voice creeps up behind him as he sees his brother with pity in his eyes.
Just what I needed Orm chuckles dryly as he looks at his brother sitting next to him.
‘Y/n once had a relationship and it wasn’t the one for the books. Because of that ever since she is scared to get attached to someone other than her family cause of her past. You need to take it slowly.’ Arthur looks at his brother hoping that he will understand it.
Orm sighs ‘It’s, just... I’ve never felt like this and I don’t know what to do. She is remarkable, different for the rest.’
‘Unique.’ Arthur adds knowing what Orm was going to say.
‘Plus, what you are feeling right now, it’s called love. You are in your feelings, like Drake.’ Arthur explains trying to keep his face extremely ‘serious’
Orm arches a brow at his brother ‘Who is Drake?’
Arthur laughs and pats his bro on his back ‘No one important right now. You go get your girl, but slowly.’
As Orm takes a deep breath as he stands up and struts to her seeing Y/n looking at the sea. Orm wasn’t the most gentle type but he willing to try for her. Standing behind Y/n he firmly says
‘I’m sorry.’
Y/n turns to him letting out a sigh as she looks at the floor ‘I’m the one who should be apologizing. Everything is just very sudden and I don’t know how to respond to it. I’m sorry.’
Orm loved when people looked sadden and defenseless but seeing Y/n in such a state he didn’t like it, he wanted to make everything in his power to make her smile. Alas, he knew that anything won’t help other than words of love and encouragement. He extends his hand putting it under her chin lifting it slowly to see her eyes.
‘I understand your past so it is reasonable for your reaction but that’s nothing to be sorry for. My confession was true and sincere.’
Y/n stares at him muttering out ‘You are a prince, I am a normal human. We are different.’
‘Yes, and yet I see my future with you.’ Orm admits as a blush creeps up on his face.
Y/n smiles a little not really comprehending how much it took for Orm to be so honest with her.
‘Will the two of you just kiss already?!’ Arthur shouts from the living room.
Both of them laugh seeing Arthur cheering them on.
Orm turns back to Y/n and asks ‘May I kiss you, Y/n?’ with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
‘Yes... you may, Orm.’ she responds as both of them meet halfway slowly leaning for a kiss.
Y/n knew that she needed to let go a little and Orm knew that he has to be patient with her and for the first time he didn’t mind waiting because he knew that right now he was holding something far more precious than the trident, Y/N.
‘After the two of you finish your makeout session I’ll be in the bar buying you guys a beer.’ Arthur shouts as he leaves the house giving the lovers some ‘alone time’.
Hope you liked it. Looks like I’m in some Orm feelings right now.

Aquaman: Orm Marius [ESTJ]
SUBMITTED BY H.
Functional Order: Te-Si-Ne-Fi
Tumblr media
Judging Functional Axis:
Extroverted Thinking (Te) / Introverted Feeling (Fi)
In conventional Te-dominant style, Orm's reaction to the threat caused by "surface-dwellers" and their pollution of the seas is swift and terrible retaliation, and he makes no secret of his plans or desires. "We must destroy them before they destroy us first!" Orm is strategic and straight-forward in his negotiation tactics; he convinces his future father-in-law King Nereus of Xebel to join him by appealing to his intellect rather than his emotions. He sees the benefit in forming and an alliance with Black Manta, a human with a MAJOR grudge against his half-brother, and provides him with Atlantean weapons in exchange for tracking and destroying Aquaman. Orm has a very black-and-white view of morality - you're either with him or against him, but he is not needlessly cruel and is willing to give Arthur a way out of a duel he knows he's going to win to spare his half-brother's life. Fi is continually repressed in his psyche and doesn't manifest in conscious thought. Though Orm imagines himself objective and doing what it right by his people, the needs of Atlantis always align neatly with Orm's own desires. Orm's emotional life is dominated by anger and pent-up aggression until the very end when he's reunited with his mother whom he thought was dead.
Tumblr media
Perceiving Functional Axis:
Introverted Sensing (Si) / Extroverted Intuition (Ne)
Orm has internalized many of the ancient customs and rules that govern Atlantis and is unwilling to deviate from them, even when it would strategically benefit him to do so. He chose to meet with Nereus in the place that used to be The Council of the Kings because it has sentimental value for him: "back when the seven kingdoms were one, our ancestors gathered here". Orm is a skilled fighter in his own element, but he is not always aware of his surroundings or understand the full scope of his actions, such as when his "demonstration" with the stolen submarine backfires and almost kills Nereus - his most important ally. As a result of being raised mainly by his despot father, King Orvax, Orm has a lot of preconceptions about "surface dwellers" and struggles hard to accept alternative viewpoints or interpretations. He shows some capacity for intuitive conclusions at times, such as when he tells Vulko he knows his vizier has sided with "the bastard" and secretly prepared him for battle. He also has doubts about Mera's loyalty and places a tracker on her "just in case".
Tumblr media
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
House Traits: cunning, resourcefulness, and ambition.
Orm's worldview is a perfect blend of duty and ambition. He has ascended to the throne of Atlantis and he intends to remain there even if it means bloodshed. Orm is quick to eliminate threats, both perceived and real, foreign and domestic, and be the one that strikes first.

In This Essay I Will...
...talk a lot about one Orm Marius; Ocean Master, Former King of Atlantis.
Tumblr media
Alright, so, I am not an expert on DCU mythos. I’ve read plenty of the trinity but I’ve really only read the Queen Mera and Drowned Earth arcs when it comes to the fishman. Please bear that in mind because I’m leaning heavily on the DCEU while also necessarily drawing from the comic origins to flesh out certain backgrounds and character motivations.
James Wan could’ve hired any mediocre white boy in the mold of so many contemporary “sympathetic antagonists”, but no. He followed in Zack Snyder’s footsteps and cast his muse Patrick Wilson opposite his lead. Patrick did for Orm what Michael Shannon did for Zod. Without either of these actors in these roles, the characters would’ve been phoned in and flat. Instead, we got these beautiful multifaceted complex individuals with their own righteously decisive and intensely personal motivations.
Anyways, back to Orm.
I know the general public will have no reference point for all the details I’m about to go into, and that’s why Patrick’s Orm was so successful even without that background for people to draw on. He works just on his own, and that’s beautiful.
Orm, Prince of Atlantis, was a product of marital rape.
Orvax, former king of Atlantis and Orm’s father, was a monster. In the DCU, he was notoriously fond of violence and a vicious wife beater. In the DCU, Atlanna was pushed to the point where she killed him in self-defense. Given that the narrative follows a slightly different path in the DCEU, we can still infer that Orvax was just as ruthless and inclined towards violence as his DCU self (and James giving him exactly 0 minutes of screen-time was quite deserved). Upon discovering the truth about Atlanna’s time on the surface with Tom, with Arthur as the result, his reaction was to sacrifice her, leaving young Orm fully vulnerable.
EDIT: on-panel abuse depicted in flashbacks
Tumblr media
Orm came to bear the full brunt of Orvax’s rage after that, and the true crux of his own trauma/anger was the loss of his mother. Which, instead of blaming it on the true perpetrator (Orvax), he was conditioned to believe it was the fault of his halfbreed brother. That Atlanna’s attempt to escape an abusive marriage (that she VOLUNTARILY returned to in order to save Tom and Arthur) was a crime worthy of death and the only person responsible was the innocent child she bore Tom.
Orvax poisoned and twisted him until he became the bitter manipulative king we catch up with in the film; forced to ascend the throne far too young in the wake of being orphaned following Orvax’s ambiguous death (was Vulko responsible in this universe, rather than Atlanna?). Now, is Orm responsible for the (numerous) crimes/murders he commits over the course of the film’s story? Absolutely. 100%. Could this have all been avoided if Orvax had gotten his comeuppance earlier instead of getting to sacrifice Atlanna and horrifically abuse his own child? Yes.
Tumblr media
Look at this boy. He has lost EVERYTHING. All in a matter of days, and now hours, he’s lost the crown, the throne, Atlantis, and his coveted title. He ripped his own helm off to scream “KILL ME” at his brother because that was the only path he saw open to him. Death. Death would be kinder than whatever might happen once Arthur decided how he would exact his victory.
And yet, in the span of a few seconds, all that changes. Why?
Tumblr media
Atlanna returns. Like an angel from the heavens.
Tumblr media
Orm can’t even believe she’s real. All those years of fear and loneliness and desperately missing the mother that was stolen from him by a father who doesn’t even deserve to be called one. All that’s left is a scared little boy whose most desperate wish for so long would’ve been that his mother would return, somehow, and save him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All those years of raging against a brother half a world apart for taking her away, all for naught. Said brother saved her from the lost kingdom beyond the Trench and now she’s returned to help all three of them heal from the trauma and scars lashed through them by a dead man.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The DCEU’s strength is the love of good mothers. That’s its core. This unwavering immensely powerful force that can heal even decades-old scars, given time.
That’s really the part that blew me away about this movie. The overwhelming gentleness of it. The hope. The idea that yes, a lot of bad things just happened and have happened in the past, but guess what? It’s gonna be okay. Orm? This traumatized boy with a grudge big enough for the entire world? He’s gonna be okay. Arthur? This outcast with a heart of gold and more self esteem issues than you can shake a stick at? Him, too. Atlanna? The mother who lost the love of her life and was cast away to be slaughtered? She’s got her sons back and she’s gonna be okay.
They all will be, given time. What an incredible message. What an incredible arc for this sweet fishboy with an affinity for gaudy purple armor. I love him. I would die for him. Feel free to hit me up if y’all are dying over him too.

War: Alliance (2/4) King Orm/Reader
Word Count: 1209
Lost of exposition, but Orm is in this one. Yay! Thank you for reading.
Trigger Warnings: War, Tragedy [Don’t wanna spoil]
Then sun has risen and set many times since the sparkling pool bore its grim warning. And as it were, the sun would set again with war no nearer than it was yesterday, but unease weighs down on your soul; the deities were never wrong.
It near midday, and the streets are full and busy with people preparing for The Festival Of Stars.
You maneuver through the town square, hoping to find something simple, but well-formed. Though you can only seem to find the most flashy of garments left behind.
A clothing stand, a little ways back behind all the excitement, captures your attention. The owner is busy sewing more garments to sell during the festival.
You browse through fine pieces, searching for a exquisite outfit to wear to The Festival Of Stars. You prick yourself on a pin still stuck in a fine black tunic that caught your eye.
You yelp in pain, but the idea hurts more than the wound. The woman behind the stall looks up from the sewing machine, eyes wide with worry. She reaches over and snatches up the garment, searching for anymore dastardly pins. She bows her head, “My liege, I am so sorry”
“It's just a pin prick,”
“But, My liege-”
You smile at her concern, but wave it away just the same, “How much for the tunic.”
*
The Festival Of Stars is held on the highest hill overlooking the kingdom. It begins at dusk and continues well into the night. The sun has dipped below the horizon and the stars have begun to sparkle into existence as you make your way through the shop stalls.
The smell of festival food and wood fire fills the air. You think of your youth. It wasn’t much of a childhood you suppose. Most kids don’t learn war strategy and negotiation tactics, but you learned them for a reason. You wonder if the sparkling pool could have been wrong, maybe it was confused. Was war really coming? You shake those thoughts out of your head, to doubt the deities now would be a mistake.
Your stomachs grumble brings you from your thought, perhaps it was time for dinner and a show.
*
The stars are shining bright and the sky has turned the deep purple of night. Many stall owners with children have begun to head home.
A young boy and his mother pack away a stall full of intricately embroidered dolls. You remember these dolls; each one is handmade and no bigger than a woman’s palm; not a single one is the same. You had quite a few when you were younger; even one that was made to look like you.
“Hello, My liege” The stall owner says, “See any dolls you like.”
“Oh, I’m much too old for dolls” You say.
The young boy stops packing and holds a doll up for you to see. The stitch work is messy, but done with love. “I made him myself,” he says, a big smile spreads across his face, he’s missing a tooth toward the back of his mouth: he’s absolutely adorable.
“He’s a brave warrior” The young boy says, “like you.”
“Is he now?” You ask.
“Yeah, mom says he’ll protect me, just like you protect the kingdom” The young boy beams.
The stall owner has packed away the last doll and is ready to leave. It would not be easy getting through the festival-goers after the party had begun and nearly all the children had been taken home too. The young boy shares with you one last beaming smile and then waves goodbye.
Though turmoil has coiled around your gut and refuses to let go, the warmness of love reminds you to enjoy the festival

The crisp chill of night has set, the stars glimmer like diamonds around a bright full moon.
In this moment, all is peaceful.
In the next, a whistling fills the air, high and shrieking. It grows louder and louder, closer and closer.
*
You don't quite wake up, so much as float just within consciousness. You're too knocked out of your body and far away to actually consider yourself awake.
“My liege,” Priestess Hera calls for you, she sounds so far away, “My liege, please!”
All at once, the world snaps back into place. You're off your back and on your feet, running out into the city before the nurses can catch up.
Your hurt thunders in your chest and in your ears. You stumble some, your head spins, you keep running.
The streets are empty, rubble and broken shop carts lay in pieces like broken bones. Your legs take you faster before your brain registers it. Buildings lay collapsed where they once stood tall, you come to a halt. Your body screaming.
You find yourself in a familiar place: the market square. Charred fabrics blow across the sand like weeds. On the ground near the rubble of a fallen tenement, you pick up a hand-sewn doll.
Your legs give out beneath you, spilling you across the sand and debris. You brush the matted yarn hair from his face. A wet sob escapes you, a few tears wet the warrior dolls armour. The bomb blasted has burnt away his smile.
*
The Atlantean king shows up a couple weeks after the bombing. Walks out of the ocean, fantastical armour glinting in the sun. Behind him a big ship surfaces, within it an army.
The castle has survived unscathed, it had been built to withstand. Many people were left without homes, they now refuge in the castle halls. Even your office is occupied, so you speak with the King Orm in your bedroom.
“Why would the humans want war with us” You ask, more to the deities than the king beside you, “They shouldn’t even know we exist”
You will yourself not to break down. To look weak in front of the King would bring shame to your people—more shame than the failure which already laid heavy on your shoulders.
“Why wasn’t I prepared?” You whisper, then, as if you had remembered your audience, you ask, “Was Atlantis attacked as well?”
“One of our cities was hit,” King Orm says, there’s a bitterness to his voice. Though, you suppose there’s a bitterness to your voice as well.
“So you wish for my peoples help then,”
King Orm nods. “This is a necessary alliance, if we do not ally ourselves both our kingdoms will fall”
You consider his words carefully, “My people have been manipulated by your kind before,”
“I am not the kings before me” He says.
You peer out of the bedroom window, it had once given you a view of your beloved kingdom, now you are accosted by the sight of ruins every sunrise.
You worried your lip between your teeth: could you not win the war alone?
“You have very little to lose” King Orm offers, “and very much to gain.”
As hesitant as memories of the past made you, King Orm was right. Atlantis had been attacked as well and warring with your people would ensure mutual destruction.
You consider Orm one last time, searching for treachery in his eyes. Satisfied that you have found none, you make your decision: “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”
