Village of the Damned will be released on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on September 24 via Scream Factory. The 1995 film is a remake of the 1960 sci-fi/horror classic, itself based on John Wyndham's 1957 novel The Midwich Cuckoos.

Master of horror John Carpenter directs from a script by David Himmelstein (Bad Company). Christopher Reeve, Linda Kozlowski, Kirstie Alley, Michael Paré, Mark Hamill, and John Falk star.

Not A Book Friday

This is your typical, bunch of also rans who have someone in their corner (in this case, the coach, played by Gene Hackman) come together to find themselves, win a bunch, and, on occasion, get the girl. It’s been done with adults and with kids, it’s been done based on real stories and fictional stories, it’s been done with football and almost every other sport. It’s a solid sort of story, and, here it’s done pretty darn well as any other version of the story that I’ve seen. Hackman and Keanu Reeves, as well as Orlando Jones and Jon Favreau make this a super fun movie to watch.
