Hey! Here again! So, this isn't about any fanfic I'm writing, but about some thoughts I've had about a ship I saw, like, once: Orion Black x Lyall Lupin.

The whole thing would be even angstier with Walburga/Euphemia together. Because Walburga and Orion would have to marry each other and lose the ones they truly love. And, some years later, you will discover they're happy and married to someone else, and expecting a kid like you. But them is because they are in love with their spouse and not because of family duty.

And, if I'm not wrong, Lyall was a pureblood. And Hope a muggle. I hc the Lupin's were "blood traitors" and he and Hope meet in her parents bakery, during their teenage years. But just got together on their 20's, maybe 21-23(?).

He and Orion had a break up for, basically, the same reason as Waleffie. Or because Orion was pressured by their parents to start to look for a "Pureblood Respectfull Sacred 28 Lady" that he can marry. So, he breaks things with Lyall.

Years later. And, maybe, Orion hears Walburga mad because her son is dating the Lupin boy, and his mind is recalling his teenage years with the only one he loved. And, maybe, Remus tells his dad he's dating the boy from the House of Black he always tells mom about, and Lyall thinks about his first, but not only, love.

The story repeats itself, it seems. But this version got a happy ending. At least.

Orion doesn't know what to do, for the first time. Lyall is happy, but there's a weird ache, because why had the world be cruel to them?

Well, at least his son is happy and can openly love this said Black. Unlike him when he was younger.

i find walburga specifically to be such an interesting character – there is so much to explore there about who she was and how she became the person she ended up as. i think she shares a lot of similarities with her niece bellatrix:,)

orion/walburga having a forced and resentful marriage is essentially canon to me, but for them to both have had "forbidden" romances before cuts deeper. it works very well for orion with both lyall and fleamont tbh, but i think i prefer lyall so it's not as on the nose.

i would never be able to write something like this myself (as i am not built for hurt no comfort/angst without a happy ending) but i wish you the best of luck with it<333 torture yourself and these characters to your heart's content babylove

why have I not seen anything be done with the information that Lyall Lupin and Orion Black when to school together???? Like no fics where remus was a regular guest at the blacks house??? where remus reg and sirius were all childhood bestfriends???? Lyall was canonly a bigoted Ravenclaw they most likely kept in touch after hogwarts!!! YALL wheres the fic where no one knows that lyall married a muggle so he and Remus has to hide it similar how people have to hide certain aspects of themselves from their peers for fear of social rejection???? Then theres a time where Sirius/reg scares the shit out of remus when they say some omunious shit how "they know" and "dont mind" and "wont tell" and its just about his mom is a muggle???

my view of the marauders' parents !!

james: euphemia and fleamont my LOVES <3 i think they're obviously very open and understanding, but i reckon they still had their issues. james was such an independent child that they kind of thought he could take care of himself and sometimes all he wanted was his parents. not that they weren't there, they just didn't realise they had to be.

sirius and regulus: quite obvious, they were very abusive BUT they loved their children. they were caught in a cycle of abuse and had no idea how to show the love they felt for sirius and regulus as it had never been shown to them. there are no excuses for abuse but if there's any explanation it's theirs.

peter: his parents loved him and wanted what was best for him, but they sort of lived vicariously through him and so projected all their goals onto him and unintentionally made him feel like a failure.

remus: seemingly unpopular opinion but lyall and hope were both great parents. lyall loved remus SO much. i reckon he was quite stoic and didn't express himself very well, but he loved remus and hope more than anything. hope tended to dote on remus, as a lot of parents of children with disabilities/illnesses do (*cough* speaking from experience as an autistic person *cough*). she was a little overbearing, but she meant well.

lily: someone said something about her parents being religious and that's stuck with me. i don't think they would be okay with her being queer, and i think their love always feels conditional to her. i think at some point they start to favour petunia because she does everything expected of her, which is the final straw in pulling the sisters apart.

marlene: in my head she's a halfblood and her mum is very religious as well. i think she has a bunch of siblings (like five) so her parents' attention always feels divided. they're not bad parents necessarily, but marlene would be so ready to move out (okay this might just be tcoptp marlene).

mary: i feel like she's a halfblood and her mum was the witch, but she died, so mary's got a muggle dad, step-mother and step-sister (stealing from tcoptp again) and she just feels really ignored, like her dad stopped caring after he met her step-mother. she's a daddy's girl at heart tho. also she has a little brother who's only a year younger than her named eric (referencing my own fanfic here :3).

barty: barty crouch sr. when i catch you barty crouch sr. his dad has insane expectations for barty yet doesn't show any pride when barty actually achieves these goals. normally he's more neglectful than abusive. his entire life is his job, and he doesn't show any love for barty or his mum. barty spent so long just trying to make his father proud, but at some point realised he never would, so he did everything possible to rebel against him. barty's mother loves him so much, and the only reason barty doesn't run away is because he can't leave her. they're very close but barty sometimes feels bitter that she doesn't stop his dad from acting the way he does (but he knows realistically there's not much she can do).

evan and pandora: think what you will about their parents, in my head they are loving, silly, and strange. they enable evan and pandora to do all their little experiments and fun things because they're the exact same way. they're the effie and monty of the skittles. they definitely dote on felix, and it sort of seems like they favour him, but they just feel guilty because both of his older siblings are away all of the time and so he's on his own. they're a little unhinged, probably the type of parents to ask their kids' friends weirdly invasive questions, but they're just odd.

emmeline: for some reason i have this hc that emmeline and barty are childhood friends. i don't know any canonical information about emmeline, so idk if this is directly contradicted in any way, but in my head emmeline's dad works at the ministry which is how emmeline and barty know each other. emmeline's dad is quite strict and overprotective, and her mum sort of lives vicariously through her. emmeline sometimes feels a little suffocated around them, but she's close to them since she doesn't have to see them very often. if she was living with them full time, they would definitely have a tense relationship. also emmeline has a younger sister who starts hogwarts when she's in fifth year.

dorcas: her mother had her when she was really young and her father wasn't ready to raise a child so she raised dorcas alone. she blames dorcas for ruining her life, since she'd had loads of dreams and plans she'd had to put on hold for dorcas's sake. dorcas has a really strange relationship with her because sometimes she's really loving, and the next second they're screaming at each other (dna guarantee is literally their song btw).

First Time Meeting the Parents Part 2

The cottage was exactly what Sirius had imagined it: cosy, a little overcrowded with bits and bobs, the smell of fresh bread and a wood fire. Hope ushered him into the kitchen and onto a scrubbed wooden chair at the matching table. He could really see himself living here. 

“Tell me all about yourself, Sirius,” Hope gushed as she busied herself with the kettle and plucking dainty buns from an old quality street tin before setting them on a chipped white plate. 

“Not much to tell, Mrs Lupin, I’m sure your story would be far more interesting than mine,” Sirius told her as he accepted one of the buns. 

“He doesn’t like talking about his family and stuff, Mum,” Remus told her, pressing a kiss into her hair as he leant around her and snagged four of the buns for himself. 

“Remus Lupin, stop being a greedy guts, and save some for your boyfriend!” Hope chastised Remus. Sirius watched them with a well of emotion bubbling up inside him. This was what he’d wanted from a mother. Instead, he’d ended up with Walburga Black, a strict, child-abusing monster who lived to torment her children. 

“Sorry, Mum,” Remus apologised, using the distraction to grab another bun and shove it into his mouth. 

“You little terror,” Hope cried with a laugh on her lips as she chased Remus around the table with a wooden spoon. 

“Ahem,” The levity instantly left the merry kitchen as Remus’s father, Lyall Lupin, made his entrance. This feeling was more familiar to Sirius, and he felt himself sitting up straighter in the stern man's presence. 

“Hey, Da,” Remus grinned, nipping past Hope and avoiding her spoon as he went to hug his father. Lyall’s lined expression transformed into a loving smile as he opened his arms to his son. 

“Stop staying away so long,” he grumbled into Remus’s ear. Sirius noticed that he and Remus were the same height, an odd occurrence as Remus usually towered over anyone they met. 

“Sorry, Dad.” Remus apologised, his hand sneaking back across the table to try and grab another bun. 

Remus managed to snag one, but before he could get it into his mouth, Lyall had it and popped it into his own mouth whole. “Hey!” Remus complained but Lyall raised an eyebrow. 

“That tin was full five minutes ago. It doesn’t look like your guest has even had a bite, and half of the buns are gone.” Remus snickered and gave his father one last squeeze before letting him go and moving to Sirius’s side. 

“Da, this is Sirius,” he introduced Sirius proudly. Sirius immediately got to his feet and stuck out his hand. 

“Mr Lupin, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” he held his breath while he waited for Lyall to respond. 

Lyall’s face clouded, but he took Sirius’s hand and gave it a firm shake. 

“Tea, dear?” Hope asked, breaking the uncomfortable silence. 

“Please,” Lyall said, letting go of Sirius’s hand. 

Remus and Hope put together the tea. Hope had to keep herding Remus away from what was left of the buns as they set everything up and went to sit in the living room with Lyall. 

The conversation was a bit stilted at first, but as soon as Remus told Lyall that Sirius was a history nerd, he and Lyall had more than enough to talk about. 

Hours later and multiple cups of tea, Remus was finally able to drag Sirius away from his father. 

“We have to get back. James and Lily are making us dinner,” Remus told his parents. Hope’s eyes were very watery as she hugged them both goodbye and pushed another tin of cakes into Remus’s hands.

His first meeting with Remus’s parents had gone far better than he ever could have imagined. He was already planning what gifts he could bring them both the next time they visited. They were just passing the front of the cottage on the way to the gate when Lyall’s voice drifted towards them through the open living room window.  

“His hair is too long, but I like him. Better than the last one, at least,” Sirius’s smile broke his face in two it was so wide. He couldn’t wait to come back. Remus grabbed him and pressed a kiss to his lips before they continued on home.

Okay listen, I fucking love wolfstar like the next person and because of this I may or may not have given them three other kids-

Like we all know they had Teddy first, but what if they had more? A little pack if you will!

Now I did recently find someone who also gave wolfstar a child with one of these names and I want to pinky promise that I did NOT steal that from them, it was pure coincidence because the name just so happens to be the name of my favorite constellation!

They’re all adopted (except Cassie she was made with a surrogate) and two of them are werewolves/have been attacked by a Werwolf. Sirius and Remus wanted to adopt children like that because Remus knows how hard it is to be a child like that and that not everyone is lucky to have amazing parents like he did.

So far I have Helix in Gryffindor and Lyall Jr in Ravenclaw, I’m unsure about Cassie as of now :3

Once upon a time, there were two kids who became the bestest of friends really fast. They spent everyday together. They shared many things. They had a special connection. They couldn't go a day without seeing each other and a night when they didn't talk to each other before going to sleep.

They gave each other nicknames. They held oaths about always being together and always being friends. They wished to the moon about growing up and always have the fun of playing games and being innocent. And as time passed, they started to get familiar with the concept of love, perhaps. Because the connection they had with each other was strong.

But these kids didn't know the circumstances around them. The greed and selfishness of those adults responsible of them.

"Are you resigning, Lupin? Really?" Orion twisted his mouth "I thought you were grateful about this job"

Lyall was silent.

"You had nothing and now you have a place to live, and a good salary and your daughter has a good school to go to" Orion continued "Does that mean nothing to you?"

"It's not worthy" Lyall shook his head "Not like this"

"Not worthy? The stability of your family not worthy?"

Lyall thought about Hope's anger. And her ultimatum. She was right.

"YOU KILLED THOSE PEOPLE!" Lyall shouted "THEY ARE DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU"

Orion blinked. No sign of remorse or pity in his expression.

"That was an accident"

"The building wouldn't have collapsed if you wouldn't have taken half the budget!"

Orion was getting angry. Even in his nightgown, the man was terrifying. He was powerful just because he had the money to do what he pleased.

"You dare to accuse me in my own house?" he spat "After everything I've done for you and your starved dirty family?"

"You might be rich but that doesn't give you the right of stepping over people"

Orion took a step closer. Like an animal cornering his prey.

"Guess what, Lupin?" he mocked "Being rich gives me every fucking right" and he smiled evily.

Lyall concluded that he had never met someone as despicable as this man in front of him.

Even if he was scared of him, he tried not to show it.

"Want to leave and be on the street again? Leave your wife without a job and your daughter without education?"

That was better that continuing to work for him.

"Fine"

Orion walked to his desk and grabbed his checkbook.

"I don't want more of your dirty money" Lyall shook his head. They would manage somehow.

Orion looked up surprised by his reaction.

"Oh Lupin," he sighed "Let me explain something to you..." he signed the check and walked towards Lyall with it.

"If you say anything about the businesses that we made here, and you want to play hero going to the police, I am going to make sure to destroy you, Lupin" Orion said with confidence "I know half the men in the police force anyway"

Lyall concluded that might be true. This was a very powerful family with influences.

"But..." Orion carried on "If you decide to play nice. You can buy a house, pay a tuition fee for a school. Get the hell out of here and I won't have to see your fucking face again and your nasty little daughter will stay away from my son! He is the Heir and will need a PROPER wife... "

The way Orion smiled after his speech was cynical. Rosie was just an innocent kid. Sirius was her friend. It was awful to think he would become like his father when he grew up.

Lyall contained his wish to strangle him but he knew Kreacher was watching the exchange. He would call the guards and Lyall would end up losing.

Orion wrote a very large number on the check. As easy as that.

"Should I add another zero?" he said looking at Lyall's blank expression. "I'll add another zero" he answered himself.

That amount of money would tempt any decent man. He could buy a nice house and pay for Rosie's school without a problem. Buy back all the precious things Hope had to sell. Like her books and her albums. He could buy her all she wanted.

Orion extended his hand with the check.

"Here you go"

But Lyall couldn't do it. That would be like betraying Hope's trust again. He had promised and he loved her. He was shaking his head but he wanted to grab that check and ran away.

In queue, Hope decided to burst into Orion's office yelling like crazy.

"YOU NASTY PIG! HOW CAN YOU SLEEP KNOWING WHAT YOU'VE DONE!"

Kreacher stopped her from stepping in. Hope struggled to get free.

"Please, let her go!" Lyall begged.

"YOU TRICKED MY HUSBAND INTO THIS JOB! YOU TOOK ADVANTAGE OF OUR DESPERATION"

Orion was not upset or angry. He was amused.

"YOU'RE NOT ONLY AN AWFUL PERSON BUT AN AWFUL HUSBAND AND A TERRIBLE FATHER!"

"HOPE!"

Lyall didn't want to cause trouble. Hope has always been the one to move Lyall to do things. He was a coward. A poor Welsh man that had done what he was supposed to do. Always.

And Hope had moved his world upside down. He didn't want to disappoint her. But he knew what were this people capable of and if something happened to Hope or Rosie, Lyall would die.

Kreacher was pushing Hope away and in the confusion, Orion approached with a smile.

"Crazy temper, ha?" he whispered as Hope insulted Kreacher "Be grateful I'm being generous today and I am letting you go" he added and placed the check on Lyall's shirt front pocket. "Now get your crazy family out of my house"

Then Orion turned to Kreacher and Lyall could breathe again.

"Escort them out of my property, Kreacher" he ordered "All of them"

Lyall let himself be dragged away. Hope yelled more insults but she was also tired.

On the way out, they saw Mrs. Black and her youngest son watching the scandal from the upper floor.

Rosie. Lyall thought. How the hell were they going to tell her that she had to forget about Sirius? The girl adored that boy.

But this was for the better. Sirius would grow up to be just like them. Rosie shouldn't be involved in any of that.

Lyall promised himself he would make things right and make Hope and Rosie happy.

The check was still burning inside his pocket.

Seven years later...

"Alright..." Remus smirked, grabbing the pencil and paper from Sirius's hand "But I warn you, I am not good at drawing like you. This might turn very bad"

"I trust you" Sirius smiled.

And Sirius did. He would trust Remus with anything. Sometimes Sirius wanted to just let go and let his feelings explode our of his chest, whatever they were. He wanted to melt into Remus's arms and die there.

Too much?

Maybe. But the rush of this warmth and adrenaline Remus was provoking on him lately, made Sirius think silly stuff.

Tender afternoons like those were Sirius's favorites. They gently asked James and Peter to disappear for a while and leave the dorm to themselves. And it was not only about the good sex that made Sirius see stars. But also these vulnerable moments between them in bed afterwards.

Sirius observed with adoration how Remus hesitated with his pencil. He took a examinating look at Sirius's face and then he draw an oval. Sirius bit his lip not to laugh.

Wrong way to start drawing a face.

Although Sirius let him. Because Remus was adorable when he concentrated. And Sirius adored him. He would watch Remus do anything for hours.

Remus occasionally looked up to get inspired. Sirius raised his eyebrows and did silly faces to him. Remus didn't let himself be distracted.

God! He was moving his mouth in concentration. Sirius couldn't stop looking at it. Maybe he was getting addicted to kissing it. Those chopped and dry lips.

Sirius wanted to suck them and bite them. He wanted to do that all day if he could.

"My eyes definitely don't look like that" Sirius said to break the ice and distract himself from his desires. "I think one eye is bigger than another"

Remus stopped drawing.

"Well I am sorry, Picasso!" he snapped, making Sirius laugh "I'm trying my best"

Sirius smirked. How delicious it was to tease Remus like this. How adorable it was to see him frustrated and amused at the same time.

Remus put the paper sheet next to Sirius to admire his work. Sirius made a fake smile to emphasize.

"Maybe I have done an incredible job and you have yourself all wrong" Remus said.

"Are you saying that my eyes are uneven, I have a big mouth and my nose looks like a carrot?" Sirius tutted as he grabbed the drawing.

Remus leaned closer "Precisely"

"I'm gorgeous!" Sirius protested "I'm nothing like this"

"So, you think you're gorgeous..."

Sirius gasped, touching his chest dramatically "Moony! Say that I'm gorgeous!"

Remus smiled beautifully.

He was the gorgeous one.

Sirius had adored those freckles, those soft curls, those dimples, those honey colored eyes since the first time he saw them from his window, snooping through his back garden.

"You're gorgeous" he said before kissing Sirius softly.

If Sirius would have been standing, his knees would have trembled.

"God, I used to love drawing until you made me insecure, you talented bastard!" Remus sighed, dropping the paper away.

Sirius giggled, and took a better look to Remus's art.

"It's all about copying reality" Sirius explained "Think about shapes and shades. Not much about the whole picture..." he explained pointing at Remus's drawing "For example faces are not always circled shaped, they are a mixture of shapes and shadows..."

"Wanker" Remus spat "Only someone as talented at you would say that"

"I am talented" Sirius winked. Remus rolled his eyes "I like your drawing of me, though"

Remus scoffed.

"Is this why you fell in love with me?"

"That's your sex appeal"

"Your sex appeal is how talented you are in drawing, Moons"

"Is that sarcasm?"

Sirius let out a little laugh.

"Just for you know, my dad keeps all my silly drawings on the fridge as display"

Sirius stopped smiling.

"I want you to put MY drawings on our fridge when we move in"

Sirius got chills when Remus mentioned his dad. Because it brought him back to what he had discovered over last summer. The whole truth.

Maybe it wasn't a surprise that his own parents were awful people, and all the horrible things they had done. But Sirius knew Mr. Lupin had been involved. And even if Remus had a shitty relationship with his dad since his mum died and he transitioned, Sirius knew Remus still loved him.

Sirius hadn't told anyone about what he had found out. The real reason he had scaped Grimmauld Place. Only Regulus knew. Sirius was so scared of telling Remus the truth and breaking him.

"What?" Remus continued "You want your drawings on the fridge as well? My drawings would look like shit next to your pieces of art"

Plus, Remus was going to be furious when he found out Sirius had hidden this from him.

"Are you okay, Sirius?" Remus insisted after realizing his boyfriend was concerned.

Sirius swallowed "Moony, I have to tell you something"

Remus looked confused "Okay, sweetheart. Tell me"

Sirius didn't know if it was the face that Remus called him "sweetheart" which made him melt, or those gorgeous light brown eyes, or the way Remus seemed concerned and Sirius didn't want him to be like that; but Sirius didn't dare.

He could lose Remus because of this. This could break their trust. Or Remus might be too broken and it would break Sirius's heart.

Sirius was in love with this boy and maybe was a bit selfish to want him for himself, just like this, happy, innocent and wonderful.

It had hurt Sirius to find out those things about his parents, and he didn't get along with them. He didn't imagine the pain Remus, his Moony, would feel in he found out the truth about his dad.

"I love you" Sirius faked a smile and hugged Remus to hide his tears.

Remus let out a laugh of relief.

"That was all?"

Sirius hid his tears on Remus's shoulder.

"I love you and I won't let anyone break us apart again, okay?"

None of this was their fault. They were just kids back then and now just teenagers in love with each other.

"I love you too"

Prompt 3 - First Time Meeting the Parents

Sirius smoothed down his shirt for the umpteenth time. “Enough, they’re going to love you, or at least Mum is,” Remus tried to reassure Sirius. It had taken forever to get him out of the house as Sirius had tried on every item of clothing and deemed them all unacceptable for meeting the Lupins. He’d tried to go out and buy a new shirt at least, but Remus had managed to convince him that the pale blue one he was originally going to wear was the best one, and now here they were, walking up the path to his childhood home. “You ready, sweetheart,” He asked as he raised his fist to knock on the door. He didn’t get the chance as the door was nearly wrenched off its hinges by Hope Lupin in her eagerness to get it open.

“Remus!” Her lilting voice wrapped around his name like a caress. She all but toppled out of the door into her son’s arms, grinning like a loon as he hugged her. 

“Hi, Mum,” Remus’s voice was soft in a way it only ever was around his mum.

“Oh, and is this your handsome young man?” She asked as he dropped his arms and let her approach Sirius.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mrs Lupin,” Sirius managed to get out and thrust the bouquet of flowers he’d bought her.

“Oh, Remus,” She gasped, her hand flying to her heart. “He’s a gentleman.” All Remus could do was watch proudly as the whirlwind that was Hope Lupin swept Sirius into the house, leaving Remus standing on the doorstep. Well, at least his mum liked him. The true obstacle was always going to be Lyall.
