i forgot that i had my mother bring over the OG boy tits (bottom) the other day so i could do a comparison between them and the newer ones. Like, the og were made in 2hrs from scraps as a joke, but i didn't expect the difference between them and the new ones to be so drastic.

The biggest difference is the face i think. The og pair has one piece of glass to be both of the birds faces, while the other uses 2, with the features being soldered on instead of just painted on with enamel.

like the new ones are over all much cleaner even if i still have Issues with them bc i made them without using a grinder just to prove you Could do SG without one, but I'm still proud of them. Like, I'm proud of all 4 of my sons, but the younger 2 are my favorites (don't tell their brothers)

#i ran out of that darker blue glass months ago and used a very greyish purple for the new ones #and i wasnt happy with that #but now being able to Actually compare them instead of like. just having my memories of the originals #i Definitely like the new color better #when i start selling next month im going to put the iridescent side to the back tho. it doesn't look good on the 'right' side of the birds #also if your wondering why i haven't been doing stained glass recently: i dont have ac and live in central Texas. Its june #im in hell #My workspace is Way hotter because it doesn't even have a fan.#i have a litlle portable ac thing but like. i need to leave that for the cats #so my workspace just #is unbearably hot #bfsg

i HATED the old one so much it was literally in two completely different styles both of which were horrendously out of date and missing a bunch of key details and UUUGH. i was so embarrassed to have it up and have people looking at it but this is SO MUCH BETTER. and hopefully it'll stick around for longer :)

#superhero oc #human oc #character design #hero oc #oc reference #reference sheet #ref sheet #original character #stanley does art #charlie grimms #HI I TALK A LOT BELOW THIS SO FEEL FREE TO SKIP IT ALL #tbh when i started working on this i just wanted a quick replacement for his old ref i wasnt expecting to go this far with it #but im glad i did bc again hopefully itll be accurate for longer #the old one had a mix of art from last april and october in it 💀 it was...not good #umm changes from that one to this one...well i transed his gender 👍#previously i was kinda waffling back n forth on it but like mannn why the hell not. im just gonna commit. gender is stored in the cowboy #updated the colors of his tattoos especially the snakes which used to be a much muddier looking black #this works a lot nicer with his overall color palette i think #earrings are now a pretty much permanent fixture bc ive been a lot more consistent with including them lately #included side views for his hair because everyone gets confused on it (I DONT BLAME THEM it is confusing)#im happy with it! it's a subtle difference that even i struggle w at times but his hair IS meant to be asymmetric #costume design didnt really change except i redid the tooling and noted that it is SUPER optional #i barely draw it if ever and it will never be the same thing twice tbh who give shit #ummm. last and most obvious change Yes He Got Bricked #part of it is subconscious to make him contrast more with alistaire who is a super twink #part of it is he was always meant to be kinda square shaped (evident in original design from 2018)#and part of it is I Learned Anatomy. this last one really did it tbh #but i like it i think he is fun to draw and having a specific body type for him really helps with consistency #also because it's funny that he objectively does not work as hard as he should for the amount of muscle that he has. like deadass #because of power fuckery and shit which i think is endlessly funny

Sissy redesign !! i support womens rights but more importantly i support womens wrongs

#technically its a re-redesign but the previous design was from before the game was out and before she had a solidified personality #so it was basically an oc at that point #anyway i am a very big fan of how this turned out. especially the shading #art #my art #texas chainsaw massacre #sissy tcm #sissy slaughter #tcm sissy #to go off on character design stuff; i made her dress pink/purple to give her her own color #since the hitchhiker already has a similar forest green #and i gave her pants under her dress because. well shes the only one in the family not wearing pants #which would be fine to me if she wasnt the only girl #i gave her a cleaver because all of the og family have unique weapons and i thought she deserved one too #i gave her pigtails because her personality is quite sillyfun and i wanted her design to reflect that #(plus the original redesign had them and i just liked how they look)#the bruises are something i give practically all the family except the cook #because in the movie he abuses the other two on screen. which i think is fun (AS A FULLY FICTIONAL CONCEPT)#what else what else. i gave her a belt sash to add more detail to the dress #and to separate her chest and her waist #and i thiink thats it. anyway i love character design. if you couldnt tell yet #abuse mention

#i just put in a layaway order for a blank doll chateau noah :)#idk how im gonna make them look yet!! i was originally gonna get a k-body-15 with a dream valley freyja head #(& hope the neck size difference wasnt too weird lmao)#but i cant find that one anymore?? like no one seems to sell it. idk #so now im planning to get the k-body-12 for that head which seems to be basically the same but human instead of deertaur #(also i like the legs better on the noah body anyway so it works out)#so im probably gonna recycle part of the idea i had for that. particularly the outfit bc i had something picked out #that should work well with the weird body shape lmAO #but the only one in stock was in peach & im used to getting plain white. like it doesnt look thaaaat much different its very very light #but i might have to lean into the peach/pink tones a little to not make it look weird in contrast with my other dolls lmao #maybe ill throw in some purple? i think like a desaturated reddish purple for blushing might work well #with the more neutral tones i had in mind for the clothes. but i do think in general im going to work in more color than initially planned #& the other one can be more monochrome. whenever i get that lmao #ANYWAY since its layaway it will still be like. six months. unless i pay it off early (we will see)#but im used to preorders which already take about that long so its really no different tbh #im so excited i dont think ive bought a bjd since mint on card closed. i used to get everything through them since i was in the same state #i wonder how their fucking. airbnb business is going lmao
