Hello! I was being told you might have answer for this. I am fresh for Flyers and am wanting to watch many games. I have seen all of the times from this year. What are some good from when 2018 to this one? I want to see happy Flyers times since now is not being happy time. Thank you!
oh boy anon do i ever. the 2018-2019 season was a real doozy (that was the year we had eight goalies and our coach got fired), 2019-2020 was a real doozy because of the pandemic and us making the second round of the playoffs for the first time in literal ages, and this year is.... well, this is year is a dumpster fire again and i haven't enjoyed even trying to watch the flyers in a very long time.
i cannot in good conscience recommend watching any game from this season. they are all heart breaking to me in some way, except for the recent game where sam morin scored his first nhl goal that was also a game winner.
anyway, here are some games i enjoy:
december 18, 2018, vs. the red wings. carter hart makes his professional debut in the nhl and wins it.
january 16, 2019, vs. the bruins. coots hat trick!
february 23, 2019, vs. the penguins. the stadium series v. pittsburgh had it all. a come from behind win, wayne simmonds' emotional last game as a flyer, and it comes with a mic'd up special that you can find on youtube.
march 1, 2019, vs. the devils. this is the "fuck you up anytime" game where tk and nolan were in the penalty box together screaming at some devils. it is also the game that made me strongly dislike kurtis gabriel no matter what he does off the ice. that guy isn't right.
march 17, 2019, vs. the penguins. another dramatic win in overtime against a longtime rival. coots banks the puck off the boards to pass to himself to score the game winner and embarrass cr*sby with three seconds left in ot.
october 9, 2019, vs. the devils. the season opener and carter hart's first career shutout! also a particularly excellent save was made during this game.
october 21, 2019, vs. the golden knights. nice to blow out a good team once in a while. :( would love to do that one day again :(
october 26, 2019, vs. the blue jackets. a really nice blow out again. back when this team could score goals.
november 1, 2019, vs. the devils. shootout win, amazing coots game. he wins it in the shootout with the forsberg. also i think joel's first nhl goal.
november 30, 2019, vs. the habs. amazing provy ot winner against my other favorite team (who were not my favorites yet).
december 7, 2019, vs. the senators. very good laughts game. just a lot of laughts doing laughts things. i think there's also a mic'd up version of this but it might be kevin hayes mic'd up.
december 17, 2019, vs. the ducks. the first game back home after oskar's cancer diagnosis. the game's sloppy but the crowd atmosphere is good.
january 13, 2020, vs. the bruins. flyers win in a shootout and brad marchand completely whiffs on his shot. the funniest moment of my life.
january 15, 2020, vs. the blues. exciting ot win against the defending cup champs.
january 21, 2020, vs. the penguins. shutting out the penguins, what's better than that.
february 20, 2020, vs. the blue jackets. another shootout win. sensing a theme here? kevin doing kevin things.
february 28, 2020, vs. the rangers. amazing g game. complete dominance.
march 4, 2020, vs. the capitals. just a good game from everyone.
as for the bubble playoff games, the round robin games were all very fun.
august 2, 2020, vs the bruins. a win!
august 6, 2020, vs. the caps. a win!
august 8, 2020, vs. the bolts. a win!! we hadn't been able to beat them in the regular season so this was really fun.
at the end of the round robin, we were the first seed! we ended up playing the montreal canadiens, a team that i would eventually fall in love with (they’re very fun! they love each other! they have a bunch of dads and party uncles and very young sons who are trying their hardest!) although i did not know it at the time. this was actually a very exciting series. the habs' goalie is carey price, and he's widely considered to be one of the best goalies in the world; our goalie, carter hart, grew up idolizing him. so that was a big narrative. both carter and carey also had birthdays over the playoffs.  the series was very dramatic with a lot of fights and misconducts and suspensions and other fun stuff.
august 8, 2020. the first game! we won it.
august 14, 2020. the second game! we lost in a 5-0 shutout!!!! lots of drama!!!! nate thompson, a former hab, got a game misconduct! so did the habs' xavier ouellet!
august 16, 2020. we won in a 1-0 shutout.
august 18, 2020. back to back shutouts for carter!
august 19, 2020. we lost 5-3, this is the game where nick suzuki patted carter hart on the head after joel armia scored a goal. it was a whole big to do (this is when i fell in love with nick suzuki). this was also the game that jesperi kotkaniemi got a game misconduct for cross-checking travis sanheim. there were three other 10 min misconduct penalties as well.
august 21, 2020. we won the series, it was hard fought. this is the game where matt niskanen broke brendan gallagher's jaw and got a suspension for it.
i cannot in good conscience recommend watching the series against the isles, while there were some good moments it was just excruciating for me. it may be different for you.
hopefully this is a good jumping off point. but this is a bad time to get into the flyers. literally all they have made me this year is very fucking sad.

1. Jack Eichel and Auston Matthews
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f8/Jack_Eichel_-_Buffalo_Sabres.jpg
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/69/Auston_Matthews_IMG_7890.jpg
A true, American showdown. Recently, Jack Eichel stirred up rumors of a budding rivalry between him and fellow American hockey player, Auston Matthews. In an interview with Mike Zeisberger of Postmedia, he commented on the tension between the Sabres and Leafs. “We don’t like them. They don’t like us,” Eichel said.
Both American players are physically dominating centers, but most agree that their play style differs on the ice. But what about their fighting styles? Too early to see, but Eichel points out that Matthews is no slack in the personality department. “I think Auston has a bit of a confidence and a swagger to him,” said Eichel in his interview with Zeisberger. “He’s got a bit of that ‘f— you!’ mentality in him. And that’s a good thing.”
Hopefully this season, Matthews will bring that f—you mentality to the ice and drop the gloves America vs. America. I can only ask that they both don American flag bandanas for the fight.
  2. Brent Burns and Jordie Benn
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8a/Brent_Burns_2016.jpg
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e5/Jordie_Benn_-_Dallas_Stars.jpg
The real battle of the beards. Do you like a nice, clean cut beard, courtesy of Jordie Benn? Or something….a little dirtier aka whatever is on Brent Burns face? I know, it’s too difficult to decide. Let’s just have them finish this debate with the good, time-honored tradition of head butting each other until one passes out. Last one standing is Top Beard.
3. Taylor Hall and Ryan-Nugent Hopkins
https://flic.kr/p/94f4cG
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b3/Ryan_Nugent-Hopkins_-_Edmonton_Oilers.jpg/932px-Ryan_Nugent-Hopkins_-_Edmonton_Oilers.jpg
Call me a sucker for drama, but can you imagine? Tears flowing down both of their faces. Taylor Hall in his red Devils uniform desperately throwing shot after shot, while his former buddy, former teammate in orange blocks what he can? It is the start to an HBO special…or at least an Emmy-winning hockey feature.
4. Connor McDavid and Brandon Manning
https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/482/19438702321_267c980607_b.jpg
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e5/Brandon_Manning.jpg
This one is a bit more personal. In 2015, Brandon Manning of the Philadelphia Flyers tangled up with Connor McDavid, while the young Oilers superstar was flying across the ice. McDavid fell into the end boards, fracturing his left clavicle. The injury kept McDavid out for months, and there was some chatter that Manning purposefully tripped McDavid to injure him.
Well, that ‘chatter’ turned into something a little more substantial in 2016, when McDavid claimed Manning made classless comments about the injury during a game. The two players spent the entire game verbally jousting, and they carried the hostility off the ice.
McDavid, in a post-game interview with the press, said “I guess we can put the whole ‘if he did it on purpose’ thing to rest because what he said out there kind of confirmed that.”
Manning argued that McDavid must have taken his comments out of context, but the Oilers weren’t happy. The situation came to a head when Oilers Patrick Maroon took Manning down to the ice, with some suggesting that was the end of the feud.
But why the hell should the feud be done with now? After one measly fight? I want more fists, wrinkled jerseys, and @ing in post-game interviews. I want drama. Here’s to hoping McDavid is one of those never forgive, never forget types.
5. Mitch Marner and Almost Anyone Else (Excluding Zdeno Chara)
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cf/Mitchell_Marner_-_London_Knights.JPG
Auston Matthews seems like a kid who can handle himself pretty well. But Mitch Marner wasn’t taking any chances when Toronto’s prized hockey player got jumped by Rasmus Ristolainen of the Buffalo Sabres. He took the fight into his own hands, wrestling the dude to the ice. And by wrestling, I mean he basically koala-hugged Ristolainen to the ice. Innovative. Creative. Ballsy. I want to see more of Marner’s unique fighting style….just not against Zdeno Chara. I want a fight, not a massacre.
6. Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/20/Phil_Kessel_2015-10-28_5.JPG/682px-Phil_Kessel_2015-10-28_5.JPG
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/23/Evgeni_Malkin_2016-03-01.JPG
“Hey, you can’t have Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin physically fight! They are on the same team!” WRONG. I can and will do whatever I want. And I want these two to engage in fisticuffs.
The tension starts after a passionate verbal battle on the bench. No one is scoring. The Pens are down. Sidney Crosby is disappointed in everyone, including himself. Phil is muttering and making vague gestures to no one — throwback to Game 2 against the Senators or a classic Gollum scene in Lord of the Rings. Sully tries to calm down Malkin, but it isn’t working. Two-time Stanley Cup Champion Kessel just won’t shut up, and Malkin isn’t afraid to fight his own teammate. The stress escalates until the two talented Pens players are throwing punches like it’s the end of the world…or the Flyers have a chance for the cup. The fights concludes with both of them bloodied and smiling. They end the day with a nice snack of hot dogs and Coca-Cola.
7. P.K. Subban and Patrick Kane
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0c/PK_Subban_-_Montreal_Canadiens_2015b.jpg
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/76/Patrick_Kane_-_Chicago_Blackhawks.jpg
I think this one is pretty self-explanatory. Blackface? Rape accusations? Assault? Generally acting like an idiot?
Someone needs to fight this little punk. Or as my friend Kerri ( @kerriannemarie)  likes to say “We want P.K. to fucking decimate the smoldering garbage shit pile in the middle of an underwater volcano that is Patrick Kane.” Who better than P.K. Subban, the defensive star whose team literally obliterated Patrick Kane’s Blackhawks in the playoffs?
8. Gary Bettman and Alexander Ovechkin/Nicklas Bäckström
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/be/Alexander_Ovechkin_Russia_Olympics.jpg
There are monsters. And then there are people who won’t allow Alexander Ovechkin to represent Russia in the 2018 Winter Olympics. My only hope is that the straight-faced Nicklas Bäckström will finally snap and throw a punch that sends Gary Bettman back to whatever sick world he came from. Call me idealistic, though.
Honorable Mentions:
William Nylander and Alexander Nylander
Brother vs. brother, mano a mano. Who is the better hockey player? Who has the better accent? Most importantly, who has the better hair? These questions are best solved on the ice, fists flying.
Sidney Crosby and that Dude that Got his Finger Slashed Off
I can imagine it now. Sid the Kid skating up, learning down to whisper in Marc Methot’s ear. “I only got one finger? Well, how about a whole hand, eh?” Show Ottawa some real goon moves, Sid. Just kidding, violence is never the answer.
8 hockey fights I WILL see this season, even if I have to recreate in a video game (or incite) 1. Jack Eichel and Auston Matthews A true, American showdown. Recently, Jack Eichel stirred up rumors of a budding rivalry between him and fellow American hockey player, Auston Matthews.

Your Friday Morning Roundup
The Flyers got plenty of shots that hit the net area last night. All five struck the post.
Philly mustered 29 total shots on goal, but all of them were stopped by Keith Kinkaid (no relation to Kevin) or hit the iron. Meanwhile, the Devils scored three times and took home a 3-0 win. Joey Anderson, Kyle Palmieri, and Blake Coleman all scored goals for New Jersey in a winning effort.
Even worse news: Brian Elliott got hurt on the Palmieri goal.

— Broad Street Hockey (@BroadStHockey) November 16, 2018
And right now, the Flyers are… wait for it …mediocre with a 9-9-1 record! How fun!
They’ll host Tampa Bay Saturday afternoon at 1 PM.
In Gritty news, he enjoyed the snow and got write-in votes in Philly in last week’s general election.
The Roundup:
The Eagles are wrapping up preparations to take on the Saints on Sunday. And also enjoyed the snow.

Here’s the injury report, which features good news for Sidney Jones:

— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) November 15, 2018
“It’s a big opportunity for me,” Jones said Thursday. “Obviously, that’s where I was in college. Nickel, I played there and got some experience in there, so if I were able to play inside again, I’m able to do it. Outside, I can do it. It’s just a great opportunity to be able to play both.”
On the other side of the ball, do the Eagles actually miss Frank Reich?
Carson Wentz is also the team’s Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award nominee.
After collapsing against the Magic, which earned really good TV ratings, the Sixers return home to host the Utah Jazz tonight at 7 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia. It’ll be Jimmy Butler’s home debut. Following that, they’ll play the Hornets in Charlotte on Saturday.
With Butler on the team, should the Sixers go all-in?
As for Markelle Fultz, there’s a nerve damage conspiracy theory going around. And Fultz’s agent denied a report that he got injured in a motorcycle accident.
John Middleton is willing to be “a little bit stupid” in spending this free agency.
Speaking of the Phillies, they placed Justin Bour on waivers.
In college hoops, Saint Joseph’s improved to 3-0 with an 89-69 win over Wake Forest in South Carolina. Charlie Brown scored a career-high 26 points while Taylor Funk added 20 points, including six 3-pointers, in a winning effort.
Here’s the college hoops schedule for the rest of the weekend:
St. Joe’s vs. UCF (in South Carolina): Friday, 1:30 PM
Northern Iowa vs. Penn (in the Virgin Islands): Friday, 5:30 PM
Loyola (MD) vs. Temple: Friday, 7 PM
Drexel vs. La Salle: Saturday, 4 PM
Furman vs. Villanova: Saturday, 5 PM
Speaking of Furman, Jordan Lyons tied an NCAA record with 15 3-pointers last night.
The NLL is currently in a lockout, which could mean the Wings’ season might be delayed.
In other sports news, the Seahawks edged the Packers 27-24 on Thursday Night Football.
Ed Oliver wasn’t happy last night:

3 key takeaways from the 2020 NHL trade deadline
The 2020 NHL trade deadline was more focused than usual. Here are three takeaways from Monday afternoon’s steady action.
Another NHL trade deadline has come and gone and while we didn’t exactly see any massive blockbuster deals, there were a few themes to touch on from Monday. Overall, it seems as though most general managers knew more or less exactly what they needed.
The contending teams addressed minor missing pieces while the rebuilding teams stocked up on draft picks. It was a consistent deadline for movement and we’re coming out of it with a better idea of how the rest of the season should shake out.
There were probably more than three key observations to break down from what ended up being a busy NHL trade deadline, but these three in particular stood out.
The value of playoff toughness
After the St. Louis Blues bullied their way to a Stanley Cup victory last post-season, it’s evident that come playoff time, toughness still matters. The Blues built their team specifically for a playoff push, where a seven-game series can lead to some dislike and the referees swallow their whistles.
As much as the game of hockey has advanced to a fast-paced skilled game, there’s still a need for playoff toughness. This was evident on deadline day, as the teams who hurt the most from a lack of brute strength last season led the way in terms of acquiring what they felt they were missing.
There’s no sugar-coating it, the Tampa Bay Lightning were embarrassed last year. After a record-breaking season, the Lightning fell in the first round to a much bigger, stronger Columbus Blue Jackets team. They addressed their issues on Monday by adding Barclay Goodrow from the San Jose Sharks to their already-stellar depth chart, albeit, for a very high price.
Goodrow, who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, joins another grinder in Blake Coleman, who was acquired from the New Jersey Devils on Sunday. These two should address the only potential issue this Lightning team has had over the past two seasons.
The Bruins also added some strength to their roster when they swapped Danton Heinen in favor of Nick Ritchie from the Anaheim Ducks. Ritchie and Heinen are statistically similar, but Ritchie has about 50 pounds on the ex-Bruin winger and is sure to be a favorite with the Boston crowd (a.k.a. he fights well).
Sid wants another summer with Stanley
The Pittsburgh Penguins are very clearly gearing up to win another Stanley Cup. The Pens added Jason Zucker and Patrick Marleau, among others, and reunited with Conor Sheary, as his brief punishment stint with the Buffalo Sabres has come to an end.
It’s very apparent that the Penguins believe they can hang with the Bruins, Lightning and Washington Capitals at the top of the Eastern Conference Cup contenders list. While they may have taken a bit of a back seat in recent years, this deadline was proof that they aren’t giving up yet.
Nor should they. As long as Sidney Crosby is in the NHL, he’s playing for a team that has a chance to win a Stanley Cup. Speaking of, hockey fans should be happy to see that Marleau finally has a chance to win a Stanley Cup of his own. He may not be the most impactful player added on deadline day, but he has some good hockey left in his 40-year-old legs. It was also nice to see the Sharks move at least one of their two hall-of-fame old-timers to a contender.
If the Penguins want to win this season, they’ll most likely have to go through Washington, as the Caps also boosted their line up at the deadline with the addition of Ilya Kovalchuk, Daniel Sprong and Brenden Dillon. Obviously, another chapter in the book that is Pens vs. Captials would be more than welcomed this postseason.
The NHL: A league of realists
Both of these statements are true: The Florida Panthers are one of the league’s better teams. The Florida Panthers have a zero percent chance of winning a Stanley Cup this season.
I know, I know. The St. Louis Blues’ Stanley Cup victory from a year ago isn’t completely erased from my mind just yet (though I’m still actively working on it). However, that Blues team was built to win a Cup from the beginning of that season. Obviously, they didn’t get the start they wanted, but they were far better than their record stated.
This deadline featured a couple of surprise sellers that know they are close, but couldn’t reach the heights needed to win in an already top-heavy league. The Panthers displayed this when they traded Vincent Trocheck.
Florida arguably got more for Vincent Trochek than the Sabres got for Ryan O’Reilly and the trade for Florida makes minimal sense.
— Ryan Wilson (@GunnerStaal) February 24, 2020
Teams like the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders and Calgary Flames also made small deals to address issues without giving up any important pieces in return. This was a theme for a lot of teams at the deadline this year. No one was ready to blow up everything for a small chance at a playoff push, which is probably a good thing for most.
On the other end of this same spectrum, the New Jersey Devils sold every spare part they had to rebuild their rebuild. The San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings and Los Angeles Kings all added some good draft picks as well as the selling market was very apparent during this year’s deadline.
There was a lot of action on (and before) the deadline. For a full rundown, check out Mary Clarke’s grades for every team on deadline day.
The next couple months will be extremely interesting. As they say, teams don’t win the Stanley Cup on deadline day. Did the top teams add enough? Will any particular player breakout on their new team? We’ll find out soon enough. Enjoy the playoff push.

Let’s get happy or angry together about every new NHL jersey design
All of these are great. All of these are bad.
As you have no doubt heard, the NHL revealed new designs from adidas on Tuesday night in Las Vegas. And now it’s time to judge them all!
You can compare each to their original designs here. Overall, I personally liked most of them. But scanning the hockey web today proves not all are pleased. I’ve tried to channel my own positive reactions and the Internet’s anger into one post of quick hot-takes.
The Fantastic
Colorado Avalanche
Why you should love it: I heard the people clamoring for a return to the old Avs uniforms. I didn’t really buy into it. Plus, I’m a huge fan of their alternate jerseys and wouldn’t mind seeing those as the new primaries.
Until last night. I forgot how well that light blue works with the burgundy. It’s beautiful, and vaults Colorado back into the top rung of hockey jerseys.
Why you should hate it: N/A
The Good
Carolina Hurricanes
Why you should love it: Carolina sacrificed some personality when they underwent redesigns recently. I didn’t know I missed the black or the warning flag striping so much until I saw these. These new threads aren’t nearly as busy as the originals they harken back to, making this a significant upgrade.
Why you should hate it: it’s different than it was before even though i hated those jerseys
Vegas Golden Knights
Why you should love it: I think Vegas did very well here. Steel-grey is an under-rated jersey color that really lets the gold and red and logo pop. Plus, look at the details:
None of our players have numbers yet. But when they do, this will be what their numbers look like. #VGKFirstJersey http://pic.twitter.com/mU1l5jBSlr
— Vegas Golden Knights (@GoldenKnights) June 21, 2017
Why you should hate it: hockey in Las Vegas will never work, man
Buffalo Sabres
Why you should love it: No piping. No piping. NO PIPING.
Why you should hate it: it’s not different enough
The Fine
New Jersey Devils
Why you should love it: I was down on these until I read the details:
Devils.NHL.com
When it comes to NHL jerseys, nods to franchise, city or regional history and culture get me every time. I’m not entirely sold yet, but the justifications here are enough to win me over for now.
Why you should hate it: it’s different
Minnesota Wild
Why you should love it: Didn’t like these at first. Why are teams suddenly copping the Montreal chest stripe?
The thing that saves it, for me, is the red trim on the arms. this is good. Not great. But good.
Why you should hate it: bring back the North Stars
Calgary Flames
Why you should love it: I was really hoping they’d do the right thing and switch to these full-time. Beggars can’t be choosers, though, and no piping at least makes these look a lot neater.
Why you should hate it: liberals, right guys
The Meh
Nashville Predators
Why you should love it: Two reasons. Slight reasons. They’re less busy:

And they retain the nods to Tennessee I love so much: the guitar numbers, the guitar pick logo and the piano keys on the collar.
But overall it seems a little bland.
Why you should hate it: conservatives, right guys
Ottawa Senators
Why you should love it: If they weren’t going to completely overhaul one of the meh-est jerseys in the league, the least they could do was clean it up a little. Make it a little slimmer. They did that. Yay.
Why you should hate it: it’s actually about ethics in video game journalism
The Basically The Same
Winnipeg Jets
Why you should love it: Maybe it’s just that image, but does the blue on the elbows seem a little brighter to you? If so, a good minor tweak.
Why you should hate it: nobody wants to play in Winnipeg lolol
Why you should love it: If you already like their jerseys from before, I guess?
Why you should hate it: NAFTA, imo
Toronto Maple Leafs
Why you should love it: See above.
Why you should hate it: phil kessel is lazy and eats hot dogs
Tampa Bay Lightning
Why you should love it: If you hate laces, congratulations! Those are gone.
Why you should hate it: the everglades are dying
St. Louis Blues
Why you should love it: St. Louis already sported one of the best jerseys in the league. Hard to mess this up, and they didn’t.
Why you should hate it: these jerseys are unworthy of The Best Fans In Baseball™
San Jose Sharks
Why you should love it: Teal is a good color and light orange makes an even better compliment. These are the same jerseys.
Why you should hate it: ACTUALLY, more people die from failed Stanley Cup runs than shark attacks each year
Pittsburgh Penguins
Why you should love it: Like the Blues, hard to mess this up.
Why you should hate it: go flyers
Philadelphia Flyers
Why you should love it: Can’t tell the difference at a glance which is a good thing for these threads.
Why you should hate it: go penguins
New York Rangers
Why you should love it: A beautiful shade of blue. And way more blue than they’ll actually look on the ice, for some reason. A conspiracy.
Why you should hate it: Henrik Lundqvist is too beautiful
New York Islanders
Why you should love it: there is
Why you should hate it: nothing to see here
Montreal Canadiens
Why you should love it: Simple. Classic. Gorgeous.
Why you should hate it: Si Jonathan Drouin n'est pas la deuxième venue de Guy LaFleur, nous le renvoyons à Tampa Bay en bas de la côte dans un conteneur d'expédition fabriqué à partir de poutine.
Los Angeles Kings
Why you should love it: Unlike most, I like the Kings’ logo. But I like their grey Stadium Series alternates better.
Why you should hate it: The Kings play boring hockey and therefore I hate them.
Florida Panthers
Why you should love it: The same as last year’s redesign, unsurprisingly.
Why you should hate it: more of a dog person
Detroit Red Wings
Why you should love it: Why change what ain’t broke?
Why you should hate it: hey did you see that the Lightning stole our jer—
Arizona Coyotes
Why you should love it: Low-key one of the best jerseys in the NHL. Fight me.
Why you should hate it: Hockey will never work in Arizona.
Sincerely,
Desperate, lonely Quebec City citizen
Boston Bruins
Why you should love it: Ben Affleck is a good Batman, IMO.
Why you should hate it: Mark Wahlberg
Chicago Blackhawks
Why you should love it: Lovable underdogs. Great sweater. Great city. (2007)
Why you should hate it: Chicago wins too much, I hate them (2017)
Columbus Blue Jackets
Why you should love it: I’ve been told there was a change here. I don’t see it. That’s okay, though, because I like these.
Why you should hate it: have you noticed i complain about a lot of things
Dallas Stars
Why you should love it: I said last night these jerseys were overrated. I forgot how much that green pops. Glad they didn’t change anything.
Why you should hate it: it’s because i am a hockey fan
The Ugly
Edmonton Oilers
Why you should love it: Orange jerseys are, in general, bad. We are not deer hunting. We are hockeying. At least these pictures indicate the orange next year won’t be as bright or harmful to the eyes as the Oilers of recent memory.
Why you should hate it: I am 80 percent passionate about the game and 20 percent passionate about complaining about almost anything about the game. Bickering with fans of my own team is almost as normal as bickering with opposing fans. I will bicker with anyone. All of these jerseys suck, are stupid and should go away. The NHL isn’t what it once was back in the day or even last year. I have automatically renewed my season-ticket package again. It cost too much.
Anaheim Ducks
Why you should love it: Obviously still an upgrade over their previous jerseys, but that logo ... ugh.
Why you should hate it: I, hockey fan, love hockey but you can’t tell because I seem to hate on so much of it and the people around it all the time. Why won’t you love hockey with me? Is it because of the overwhelming and instinctive negativity you feel from all of us?
Washington Capitals
Why you should love it: I put these in the “ugly” category as a placeholder. The Reebok versions always looked a little busy and cluttered. Until we see these on the ice, it’s hard to judge for sure.
Why you should hate it: Well ... maybe I could try to be more positive. Maybe then you’ll like hockey, too.
Didn’t I have a nice time?

Thursday Injury Report

Legal sports betting has officially arrived in Pennsylvania.
UCLA’s Bruin Bear was vandalized by USC fans.

Ten songs that have to be banned from sporting events.
In the news, the GoFundMe story about a homeless man in New Jersey was a hoax.
Julian Assange of WikiLeaks might have been charged in federal court.

NHL scores 2017: Penguins prove that outdoor games are still kind of fun
The Flyers were there, too.
We’ve learned three things from the NHL’s outdoor games this year:
Outdoor games are better at night.
Color vs. color jersey combinations are so, so good.
Outdoor games are still kind of fun?
Even the Blackhawks can’t wear off the novelty of the event, it seems. At least in our opinion. And instead of the over-saturation many feared when the Stadium Series games became a thing last year, it’s actually the opposite. Little “event” breaks here and there to add some flavor to the grinding NHL stretch run.
Look, every once and awhile fans need a weeknight to collectively make fun of the bands the NHL hires. Or see teams enter the field with flamethrowers firing off behind them.
Or LIVE ANIMALS.
These things are still good. Not as new, or whatever, but still fun.
Scores
Kings 4, Ducks 1
Blue Jackets 7, Islanders 0
Rangers 4, Devils 3 (OT)
Predators 5, Capitals 2
Penguins 4, Flyers 2
Canadiens 3, Maple Leafs 2 (OT)
Sharks 4, Canucks 1
Avalanche 5, Sabres 3

Three Things We Learned
1. Toronto still cures all Montreal ills
John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports
Adding Claude Julien hasn’t stopped the Canadiens’ slide into mediocrity and out of the playoff race yet. So it’s a good thing they played the Leafs this weekend! Andrew Shaw’s overtime winner (thanks to a bizarre play by Frederik Andersen) gave the Habs 14 straight wins over their Canadian rivals.
#Habs have been 1st place in the Atlantic Division for 129 days.
— Eyes on the Prize (@HabsEOTP) February 26, 2017
2. L.A. is happy Jonathan Quick is back
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports
Seriously. Look at how playful Darryl Sutter was during his presser.
Quick returned from a four-month injury absence on Saturday with a 32-save win over Anaheim, a rival ready to run after a trade for Patrick Eaves on Friday.
L.A. is coming for the Flames and the wild card.
3. Filip Forsberg is still on fire
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports
He didn’t get his third straight hat trick, but the Predators winger did get three points and another goal. Forsberg is the first player with seven goals in three games since Michael Grabner in 2011.
And you had to know he was extra-motivated on Saturday: a chance to take down the Capitals even years after they traded him away for pennies? Of course he kept his hot streak up.
Impact Moment
Uh, how about REAL PENGUINS?
