recently discovered some fascinating hobbies for a few of the older tv men ive been submitting for the vintage tv polls and that got me wondering what (if any) strange/niche/unique hobbies have you ever encountered among classic film actors?

I think my favorite is Danny Kaye, who was apparently the type of guy who would fall in love with something and fall hard—he wanted to learn how to fly a plane, so he did; he conducted orchestras with 0 ability to read sheet music; he became so riveted by the art of Asian cuisine he started studying under master chefs Johnny Kan and Cecilia Chiang in their San Francisco restaurants, eventually building a separate kitchen into his house to support his obsession, which lasted the rest of his life. I just think that's neat.

"Liber OZ" or "The Rights of Man" was authored by Aleister Crowley in 1941. It is a valuable peek at central philosophical ideas and values within Thelema. Essentially it is a strong assertion and declaration of individual freedom and liberation whether it be your style of dress, speech, sexuality, etc. This call for freedom within Thelema is a radical departure from the prudishness of the surrounding Victorian Society at the time.

Before Crowley called it "Liber OZ," he called it his "War Aims." This was an expression of Crowley's anti-fascist stance as a response to WWII. It pre-figures the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Jack Parsons: O cientista ocultista precursor da NASA que abriu um portal para aliens demônios

Poucos ainda reconhecem o nome dele, mas Jack Parsons teve um papel fundamental em levar a humanidade ao espaço. Parsons foi um cientista de foguetes que inventou o primeiro combustível de foguete de estado sólido em 1942. Juntamente com associados do Caltech (California Institute of Technology ou Instituto de Tecnologia da Califórnia), ele fundou o Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), uma organização que abriu o caminho para a NASA.

Parsons também perseguiu uma obsessão ao longo da vida com o ocultismo, o sexo e a interseção dos dois. Ele se juntou a Thelema, o movimento oculto fundado pelo ocultista britânico Aleister Crowley, e assumiu o ramo californiano do movimento. O fundador da Cientologia, L. Ron Hubbard, viveu na casa de Parsons por um tempo e realizou com ele os famigerados “Trabalhos de Babalon”, por meio dos quais teriam aberto um portal por onde passaram os discos voadores e ETs que caíram em Roswell.

Parsons tentou, repetidamente, usar magia sexual para convocar várias divindades para o plano terrestre. Tudo isso enquanto trabalhava como cientista de foguetes. A vida de Parsons é estranha e fascinante. Ele era um cientista dedicado que ajudou a empurrar a humanidade para as estrelas, mas perseguiu o objetivo final de gerar um golem Anticristo para apressar a chegada do Apocalipse e morreu em uma explosão em seu laboratório caseiro aos 37 anos.
